I currently have 6 eggs in an incubator that were in the coop for THREE weeks, during which time we had 2 snowstorms, quite a few below freezing days, many cold rainy days, and a couple of 50°F days (crazy Ohio weather!) The eggs have been in the incubator for 14 days, and so far, so good. The eggs are from my best layer, a white Rhode Island Red, and a Barred Rock cockerel that was only 13 weeks when we got rid of him (our city ordinance bans roosters😢). Amazing that these eggs were even fertile at all considering how young and inexperienced the roo was, and add to that the fact that these eggs sat for 3 weeks in refrigerator-like conditions. Four days until lockdown, then approximately 3 more days until i can say for certain that they hatched. Fingers crossed! 🙏🏼🐔🐣🐥🐤🐣🐤🐥
I've hatch refrigerated quail eggs many times. This is how I store my quail eggs in the fridge until I have enough to fill my incubator, which is about 10 days
You’re giving me hope bc I’m going to have to add a few of my refrigerated eggs from my hens to the incubator with the ones I’ve stored correctly. I just want to see if I can manage it also. 😅
Great video, but I think you should also make clear that most supermarket eggs in the US come from commerial egg producers, the hens have never even seen a cockerel, never mind had any eggs fertilized by them. A necessary step, so refridgeration will be the least of the problems they might encounter! Yes, this seems obvious, but judging by the number of conversations I've had with vegetarians who believe that eating eggs automatically means a potential chicken life lost, it doesn't seem to be common knowledge.
Thats so cute, it's moving!! I eat free range eggs so i always put a flashlight 🔦 on the eggs before I eat them. I looked up this subject incase I find one that had life, I can incubate it and give to to a farm!!
You can have eggs that have been in the frigerator for up to 3 days but you'll just get less males a lot of breeders actually do this to wean out I actually do it myself I have 4 incubators going
Thanks for the comment! Trying to decide if I can incubate the eggs I got from my only blue layer, but I had already put three in the fridge. Just waiting to get a few more eggs from her and then I’m going to try! All the chicks will be from one hen, a brown gold EE and a Cochin rooster
I got my incubator in today my little egg been in a gallon pickle jar under a 60 watt incondesant bulb for 6 day's. Nothing better than thinking on it feet when a niegbor gives you a egg to hatch. From there backyard hen it has progressed normal in that jar.
Do you recall the sex of all the chicks? Just curious as some say if you refrigerate eggs, the roosters don’t survive but hens do. I’m not sure how long they suggest. I did see one woman post a blog that her hens’ eggs were frozen for months and 8/12 hatched. I keep thinking it must be like a seed right? What goes in the fridge isn’t “alive” per se, but moreso “dormant”, waiting for the right temperature in order to “activate”. Would love to know if the refrigeration helps remove Roos from the mix, so many end up with unfortunate fates 😔
Yes! But first I need to go to one. The previous one I went to (my 'local' one, about 90mins away) has shut down. There is another one about 2.5 hours away that has an auction in September, and if there is anything of interest, I'll be going :)
Tell me if I'm wrong but this guy sounds exactly like the youtuber DJ audits 🤷♀️. Also is this upload aimed at 3 year olds? because he's talking like either we're stupid or he's auditioning for a part on cbeebies
I have no idea who DJ audits is, so deffo not me 👍 I make these videos for those who know what they are doing, and those who have no idea. So whilst I might explain everything, remember, some people are hatching for the first time.
@@AnnoyDad sorry nothing malicious intended. When I've just read back i sounded harsh. Text does that, I was only talking in jest. Keep up the good work. And I bet your hatching rate outweighs mine anyway, so I'll just shut up 🤣🤣. Great work 💯
As an experiment, yoinked some eggs from walmart, got a brand where the chickens can free roam. These were refrigerated but not for very long I suppose. Got one that didn’t look very promising on incubation day three, broke it open to see if there was even a fetus, yes there was. There was a damn chicken fetus(also when i meant by fetus, i mean like a tiny little red dot with a few visible features, not an actual baby chicken💀) i had accidentally aborted. If that ain’t proof to me so far- oof.

If you are trying to hatch a egg from the supermarket get free Range or local brands or even better from a farmers market
You can use quail or free range eggs to better your chances
Awesome I Have always Wondered this Yours is 1st video I've Ever Found When Searching it
Wow! Thank you for sharing! I have the Janoel incubator
Thats so cute, it's moving!!

Yo this actually worked now I don’t have to buy eggs
Interesting video and glad to see you back. I enjoy watching your vblogs.

You said less males? That interests me.
Yep I'd guess that one is a cockerel ..... can you confirm?

This is awesome!!
Biggest comb I’ve ever seen on a newborn chick.
I enjoy your video, as young farmer plies will like to know how old eggs have to be before being selected for hatching
These were from my own flock, so they were less than a week old.
Thanks for taking time out to respond to my questions
Can you please recommend which is the best Incubator to hatch?
Thank you for sharing ,very helpfull.
Interesting. I was told not so I’m watching with interest.but in the USA they wash the eggs. That’s why they have to be in the fridge.
Nice video 😀
where did u buy it?
can you hatch refrigerated eggs that were from the store? that are already in the egg cartons and refrigerated?
Depends on what type of egg marketing's are in stores, some are liable to be hatched, others may not but it is possible to try it out
How much is that incubator
they are way too cute!
Thanks for the video....
Hey, I have multiple eggs and can you put it in a microwave or no because it will cook them, so is it OK to put them in the microwave?
It will cook them
Amazing!!
In ksa all the eggs are in fridge for too long i really want to try this out :(
What if u don’t have a inucabtor
I tried to hatch eggs from the supermarket
It’s a chicken. 👏👏👏
Guys dose it work??
Thanks
Cuteeeeeee 🥰🥰
So cute
thery'e adorable! ☺
Can't you open the egg? It might need help getting out!!!!!
Absolutely not! They have to work themselves out of the egg on their own . I had one that started pipping and didn’t hatch until the next day.
That first candles egg looks like two chicks inside
Please could you do another chicken auction video
Yes! But first I need to go to one. The previous one I went to (my 'local' one, about 90mins away) has shut down.
