  • We went to our local Sainsbury's, and purchased some chicken eggs, and put these in the incubator, with the aim of answering the question - Can you hatch supermarket eggs?
    The results shocked us. Hatching supermarket eggs was something we thought wouldn't happen, but it did!

    The very first hen's egg you candle, you say "glows like a light bulb, it's no good" but as soon as you turn it, not even intending to look, oh my god, there is the spider of life. You had already decided that there was no way it could work, ergo the egg had to be dead. You're fired.
    Edit: Okay, you recognized the rush to judgment. I take it back. It just irked me a little you were being so rash with a little life.

    • @AnnoyDad
      @AnnoyDad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the edit. I just watched it back again, to see what you were on about. I actually say the lightbulb bit before I start the candling. If you watch my other candling videos, it's the way by which I describe empty eggs during candling. There was no rash judgment, but I will admit I didn't expect it to work.

    • @AnnoyDad
      @AnnoyDad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Not alot would happen.
      The main reason we candle eggs is to remove the ones that aren't developing. If you imagine leaving an egg in 37 degree heat for 3 weeks, it won't be very nice. There is also a chance of bad eggs exploding.

    Yes, here in the U.S. we have the absurdity of laws that cause the natural protection from bacteria washed off and more food borne illness caused as a result of our fallacies. But also I'd doubt we could hardly ever have any in a super market that could be fertilized anyway. There's almost no such thing as non-industrial farms represented in our supermarkets. (Although there are fakes marketed to convince customers that they are non-industrial.) I could believe the ones I buy at the farmer's market might be fertile sometimes.

    All eggs are definitely not pasteurized! Pasteurization requires a temperature of at least 160 degrees which would cook the eggs! I hatched 24 Quail from eggs I bought out of the fridge at an Asian Supermarket!

    Do you think trying to hatch eggs that have been refrigerated will work?

      @AnnoyDad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. We have a video where we try it. But you want eggs that haven't been refrigerated for too long.

    Over here in the US we have had a lot of trouble with the China made incubators not being able to hatch ANYTHING. I'm curious if your incubators work better. So here they are basically either don't work and made in China, OR you have to go bankrupt to buy something overpriced. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground.

    I have quail eggs but not an incubator . I have a shoe box, some material and a desk lamp. What should I do? I really want to have baby quails . Also do they fly away as they get older or is that just the wild ones?
