John and Catherine are a husband and wife team from Southern Connecticut. We grow food and flowers on the new 40 acre farm we just bought and are building from the ground up using reclaimed materials whenever possible.
In the UK our stores don’t refrigerate eggs ,and some do indeed hatch, particularly the free range ones ,sometimes to keep up with egg supply eggs are taken from brooding hens ,so it it is pot luck .
Im here because I felt like there is something in my egg when I move it back and forth. Then as I have them boiling on stove. I don't want to cook the rest. 😂
Thats just the yolk
I can’t wait to see the outcome with this. I don’t think it’s possible. Lol cat you almost seemed disappointed even though you knew it was crap.
It's funny because even though I didn't think any of them would hatch I was still disappointed when none of them developed. I guess I was holding out hope
Excellent. Thanks for the knowledge of flashlight
Thanks for telling the truth finally authentic video !❤
No problem ! I wish the outcome was different but we gave it a shot !
@@OldReddingFarm Well you saved me money I didn’t have so at least you saved one poor soul today lol 😂 ☝️🫶🏽 I’m sure you did others too ! Thanks again!
I found this video when I got some vital farms eggs, and one was fertile.
Ah haaaa, all is not lost in this video. I now know who picks some of my favorite music! Knowledge is power😆👍
You got that right! 🐥😂😂🐥
You can buy fertilized eggs at TJs, and they will hatch. I tried it.
How many hatched? Thanks.
@ 8 out of nine developed. 6 survived
@@petrafischer6599 Wow. Last question was this recently?
@ 6 months ago. The camels came from Trader Joe’s. The egg box said fertilized eggs. Southern California.
You bought the wrong eggs. Pasture raised does not mean they are fertilized. They could just be hanging out in the pasture with no rooster. You have to buy the "fertile" eggs, and the carton is labeled as such.
even thought we had our own chickens laying egg and have 2 roosters. We left them on the counter since we leave the bloom on. It gets preety cold in our house. I hatch some eggs last year .
very nice
Thanks
did you actually hatch any?
None of the store bought eggs hatched , no
what equipment do you use and what is the procedure?
We used an incubator a stortsman GFQ 1502 set to 99.5 degrees and chicken eggs take 21 days to hatch
If you put rooster sound effects it will work/fertilize I did that and it worked I swear it works trust me if you can pls give me ideas on what to name the chickens???
Lol. That's not how that works. At all.
Yeah cat is right
interesting. how long until your ORF eggs hatch?
I have a question. How long can a farm egg sit in the nest box without having a hen sitting on it to be viable to put in an incubator?
Thank you!
For hatching eggs we ship out eggs up to three days old and they can take up to 3 days to arrive, so at least a week no problem. We hatch anything we don't sell which means we are sometimes hatching eggs up to two weeks old
@Old Redding Farm thank you for that information! 😊
13:12 egg had a vain
trader joes sells cartons fertilized eggs under its own brand name.
I looked for that type of eggs the trader Joe's near us didn't have them
This is why hatching eggs are not cheap.
Has anyone tried this and worked?
People on the internet will tell you yes, but I don't believe them.
Crazy!!!
They aren't bleached what happens is they are washed then runs through a sealer and shipped next day
In the US, eggs are sanitized using a chlorine-based sanitizer or other approved substances to reduce the amount of microbes on the shell. So, not exactly bleach but not far off.
@@OldReddingFarm nope or not where I worked.they went through a water spray then sealed
I wonder if the ppl telling u they hatch store eggs are in the UK? They don't refrigerate their eggs. And I know quail will still hatch..
I've only heard about the eggs in the UK being sold out of refrigeration, but I bet over there it's way easier. The rooster issue might still exist but it would remove the wash and the cold as possible hurdles.
The people that did the experiments, purchased unwashed organic eggs from the shelf; not the refrigerator section.
I've seen people post that they hatched all different types of eggs. And I've never seen unwashed eggs on a shelf in a grocery store.
I hatched both refrigerated duck and chicken eggs after my flock was wiped out by a weasel. They were from my birds tho..
In the USA it's illegal for stores to sell unwashed eggs. All commercial eggs have to be washed/sterilized and sorted by size and only sold in cartons plainly marked with the size on it. It doesn't apply to hobby farms, but big grocers don't buy hobby farm eggs. A small mom and pop shop may have locally sourced small farm eggs, but only if they are rural.@@OldReddingFarm
I live in the mountains and hatch refrigerator cold eggs often. I’ve even hatched eggs from the frig as well.
These so-called ppl that are posting videos that they hatched store bought eggs are just making fake videos to get the views etc. Its sad how Ppl stoop to such low levels just for views etc.
So sorry you wasted money to prove your point, but thanks for clarifying it for us honest people 😊
Youre a sweetheart. Blessings to you 😊👩🏻🌾
Just skip to 5:40, Thank me later.
Thanks
Why?
It's not Impossible just not likely have hope
0 out of 4 dozen are not odds I would recommend people invest their time or money into.
Interesting, but as I expected.
You ask walker farm fam they did but needs a 🐓
Have to get be them antibiotics to them
♥️
I think 4
I think I'll skip this and find a bloke hatching eggs. They ramble less.
Gotta get fertile storebought eggs to have half a chance.
The last viral epidemic, when it was difficult to get chicks from most anywhere, folks serious about adding stock with no other options, were using fertile store bought eggs.
A viable choice but not ideal - %'s were lower than small farmer fertile eggs for hatching.
You need to get quail
You need to get quails
Eh. I'm not really interested in quail. Do you have them? Just for eggs ?
Bro they don’t Develop that fast they take like 3 or 4 days for it to actually develop
we waited 7 days to candle.
Not going to hatch
You win
There was a story where i live, where a lady forgot some eggs on the counter and one of them hatched. She went to the newspaper and told it. So a spokesperson for the food industy went out in the news and this what she said: this is not unusual at all, we keep roosters with the hens to keep them calm. sometimes eggs get fertilized. The reason they don't hatch in the fridge is because of the cold temperature.
