I had the displeasure of meeting Mike Farrell one time. This was in the late 1980s. I was at a Tower Records store and Farrell was standing in front of me in line at the checkout counter. I looked at him and it registered with me it was Mike Farrell. He looked back at me and said, "What are you looking at?!" I just stood there and thought to myself, "What a jerk". From that moment on I never cared for him. He was annoying on M*A*S*H. I never liked his character.
Alan Alda was in that episode. But his part was at the beginning and end. Apparently, he was doing a movie at the time. Hawkeye commented that Roy's unit found him boring. Too bad the job didn't lead to more appearances for George. MASH had several recurring characters such as Dr. Freedman and Colonel Flagg. It's sad that some of the cast wouldn't talk to him. They don't have to be buddies. But at least be cordial.
This is one of my favorite episodes, maybe because Alda was barely in it. It was nice for the other characters to have more time. Oddly enough, Gary Burghoff was in this one, but very little, just one scene that I remember. He missed several episodes over his last three seasons, so he easily could've been written out of this one. I don't see how Lindsey could've been added as a regular, as Roy Dupree irritated Potter so much for riding Sophie.
I remember the episode, and while George did a great job, the character was rather obnoxious. But that was the character, not George! It's unfortunate that he was treated so rudely, since he was a nice guy. Gonna go watch your other channels now. Have a good day, Bob, and thank you! 🤗❤️🙏
I saw George Lindsay's episode of MASH not too long ago. And, I must have seen it at the time. I never had any idea he thought it would be permanent. 😮
I always thought Russell Johnson (professor) could have been a good regular on Mash. He fit the intelligent doctor persona, and he was funny. Nobody ever had a good mind to maybe ask him if he wanted to guest star, and maybe he turned it down. Makes one wonder if his phone ever rang after Gilligan's Island, You did not see much of his acting in the 70s and 80s. I only wish that Nabors and Knotts would have hung around to do more shows with Lindsey. They were all great together. The writers were completely lost when Knotts left the show. Gomer? He was on his own in the service.
There was a handful of Andy Griffith guests on Three's Company in the 70s (Gee I wonder why?) I can't remember all, but Gloria Stewart was one as well as I think Amzie Strickland. Maybe Jack Dodson. I'm pretty sure there were four or five that I have seen. But alas, no Goober or Opie, nor Gomer ever appeared. I'm now curious to see how many were on Matlock. Andy must have asked a few to surprise a few Andy Griffith fans.
Who knows why George was shunned by his costars. Oh and MC Hammer was a priest before he rose to stardom..nice that he went full circle. Did you know that Bob?

Very surprised about how he was treated by the regulars
Bob, sometimes you crack me up. 🤣

I don't understand why he would think it

Maybe he thought this could be his next big thing. And people wouldn't think of him just as Goober anymore 😕

Ruta Lee also appeared on Three's Company!
Dodson also was on a "Happy Days" episode in a scene with Ron Howard.
I’m not a fan of the “too too”outspoken Mike Farrell
Thank for your videos Bob

I can't see George Lindsey on Mash, the episode that he was on was not that great in my opinion. Thanks for the video Bob.

I loathed MASH after Wayne Rogers and McLean Stevenson so the hell with all of them.
Seems his career was hit and miss post ags
I never could stand Mike Farrell. I never thought he was a good replacement to the show.
Roy Dupree was too obnoxious for a regular character.
Rude, plain old rude and impolite!
Can't stand Mike Farrell. 🤮
