He was born at the Lloyd Nolan Hospital in Fairfield. That's where I was born. He's buried in an above ground marble vault right next to the road. I've been there many times.
If I recall correctly, Fairfield is where the band, "Alabama" came from and my friends and I drove down from Michigan to see them at their concert being held at the highschool grounds. It was an all day concert that began around 1pm and lasted through the night, with Alabama ending the night. Great show! I met a couple of women my age (23) from Kentucky, and rode around with them for a while and had a great time at the concert. I also have pictures of me and my friends sitting next to some girls (our age) on the grass while watching the concert. It seems a lot of people didn't like her...who knew? I loved the show myself! Grew up watching it everytime i was home sick from school 😂
I liked goober.I liked when he did cary grant.
8:29 "Sam, Goober and Howard explained that Aunt Bea had simply fallen down the back stairs."
Suposedly Francis stayed in a the small town of SIler CIty in North Carolina and lived there the rest of her life. I would have thought she would have moved back to NY.
The show had a good run, let all RIP...thanks for all the nice memories
Went to the Andy Griffith Museum in Mt. Airy a couple of years back. Betty Lynn's 45 that she carried when performing in USO shows during the war is on display there. She was a very interesting individual.
She was a pain in the ass! Everything bothered her!
Now Francis didn’t care for the youngest main character Ron Howard, what would be a reason(s) for her not to care or like Opie? Seriously!!! If I’m not mistaken I heard/read somewhere that Francis and Andy butted heads on many occasions while working together. She was surely unhinged especially in her end. Happy she at least apologized to Andy and Ron for her actions and the way she treated them but she really should have made the same effort to apologize to her treatment towards George bc that was just unacceptable.
I actually met George Lindsay at a Mayberry reunion. I'm a huge fanvof the show
He was born at the Lloyd Nolan Hospital in Fairfield.
This one gal has a very nice outfit on, with a huge yellow hat covering her head, very ladylike, and I thought it was very southern.
@@zephrancochrane7271 The group 'Alabama' came from Fort Payne Alabama.
She assaulted this man and she did it in front of others on the set, she should have met the consequences of her actions and she should have been fired then and there period!
She was very mean to the co star's
My wife and I knew George and his wife briefly, while their son George Jr. was enrolled at the same school (TCU) with us, studying acting. They were kind, friendly, and humble people. Although I can't say I knew them well enough to be sure, from what I knew of them, I seriously doubt that George Sr. "utterly hated" anyone. That takes a certain kind of person, and I don't believe George was that kind. I get it though ... you need to make extreme statements in your title to attract viewers. It's called CLICKBAIT. As a TH-cam content creator myself, I understand the motivation. But personally, I try to avoid it. I do try to write titles that will intrigue potential viewers, but I try not to lie. If you want to see how I do it, or judge for yourself whether I have been successful at it, my channel has the same name as my user name. I use my acting training to read poetry so as to make it come alive in a way I don't think reading it silently to yourself can ever do. Check it out.
In reality, Aunt Bee could have and should have been arrested when she struck our friend with a weapon. 😰😰😰
She assaulted him. Unacceptable behavior then and now. Seems she didn’t get along well with anyone. Amazing that she took the part.
Thats back when men were men. A real man back then would not have sued a woman, or made a fedral case, over a couple of whacks with an umbrella! This gender confused, woke, sue crazy society we live in now, says whenever you get your little snowflake feelings hurt over anything, you get revenge by suing them. I agree she shouldn't have done it, and I can see why it might have created a rift, but actually the boss in charge of the actors should have had a talk with her.
I am sure she is over it by now.
People like her need to get embarrassed big time in front of people. Nobody told her off and she kept getting away with it
By the way, did anyone notice the blooper at 6:12 on this video, where they were talking about Aunt Bea hitting George Lindsey over the head twice with an umbrella, and then one of the following pictures was actually Ernest Borgnine? How does a video producer not notice that?
Check it out... unbelievable!
Andy Griffith had entirely enough clout to see to it she got her ass fired for that.
She’s one of those people who should have been fired early on. Nobody seemed to like her and she didn’t seem to like anyone. Her character could have been played by 1000 other actresses as it wasn’t very interesting or demanding.
My cousin and George were business partners in a steakhouse chain. George was a nice guy.
He reminds me of my father who also is from Alabama born in 1930 and went to college for physical education as well.
Goober was a good actor, seen him in other roles, he could play a good villain
I liked all the characters on the Andy Griffith show, except Aunt Bee.
Once he said we have to get into his life before the Andy Griffith show I turned it off.
As I understand it, she didn’t get along with anyone on that show
I never cared for Frances Bavier either . Even as a kid wathing the shows first run, I always got the impression that she (Bavier) was a real tight ass in real life
Agree. Loved the show, but no friend of "Aunt Bea"
I always looked at her as the perfect mama or grandmother type that everyone would have wanted if they didn't have one like that! Haha! Funny how people see things so differently.
Aunt Bea could be my ex mother in law's twin 😂
He should have had her arrested for assault. Sounds like she took herself entirely too seriously for someone featured in a sitcom, ffs.

Working for the airlines, my two favorite people I met while working there was George and Jerry Clower.
Aunt "B'.... was a very appropriate description of her.
She was a “cat lady “ and died in filth.
George was originally cast as Gomer until Andy Griffith and Sheldon Leonard saw Jim Nabor’s Las Vegas act. George got bumped down to Goober as Jim to Gomer and bigger part. George also never got over that.
I remember eating at his restaurant in Springfield Mo good basic food was there for decades I believe. His friendly picture on the sign.
I am from there. But it was NOT there for decades. It was a steakhouse, and I remember it in the early seventies I believe, but only for a short time, it did not last long. GEORGE LINDSEYS STEAKHOUSE.
I don't blame George! I would be PO if she had done that to me.
Loved George Lindsay. Always smiled and left you laughing. ✨💖✨
I heard these stories too, but I know she was kind to Ronnie and Clint, buying them Christmas gifts.
If you watch the serious, almost mean character he played in Twilight Zone, you can believe he could have played the serious Spock!
Yes, great post!!
It’s called acting, and he could do it!!
My brother’s brother in law Claude Sorot ran a store at Nashville. Claude was not impressed with George, he tried cutting in front of other customers. Claude would tell him get in the line . One time, you don’t know who I am , Claude told him , I don’t care who you are, this is my store .
What the blazes did anyone expect from a guy called Goober? That said, Bavier was born and raised in NYC with a silver spoon in her mouth. She hob-nobbed with the hoity toity theater crowd in the glorious vaudeville days in Neeew York City and never baked an apple pie or a peach cobbler in her life.
The guy was called George, Goober was the character. By the way he was the first choice for the character of Spock on Star Trek and he turned down the role. He had also won the role of Gomer Pyle when Andy discovered Jim Nabors and insisted he be given the role.
@@mikeslater6246 I was only kidding about the "Goober" reference. Can't imagine George Lindsey hating anyone. That said, I also can't imagine him in the role of "Spock" either.
@josephmessina3587 got it. Maybe a smiley face or a LOL to indicate that you were being sarcastic. It's kind of hard to determine what's sarcasm or serious with just writing. 👍
@@mikeslater6246 I'm 72 years old and still don't quite get the emojis.
@@josephmessina3587 you are my senior by a year or so but I'm having problems with the Emojis too. Some of them don't seem to mean what people try to make them mean. Thanks for bringing me up to date, have a blessed day!
Frances was in The Day The Earth Stood Still.
She remarked of the "visitors" - "Well there are right here from the earth and you know from where!"
HATE is such a HARSH WORD!
That is what is wrong with our country.
Well boohoo
Get over it!

loved the shiw! Still watch re-runs. I think we would all be surprised at how some of our gavorite actors were in real life. Did not like the Goober character but understand that George Lindsey was a sweet man. Assault is not ok. Im sorry anyone would go through that.
It would be interesting to hear Frances's side of the story.
France’s Bavier was a “Karen?”
She had ego for DAYS....always thought she was too good for the role, too pretty to be a maiden aunt. She probably resented that without that show, nobody would have ever known she existed. Terrible to be so ungrateful and self-absorbed!
She was a miserable recluse later in life too - an unhappy person for whatever reason.
Her character on "The Day the Earth Stood Still" is considered to be more of her actual baseline.
She should have been fired immediately! I never liked watching her. The show was so much better without her in my opinion.
That brief scene starting at 8:50 was actually from The Danny Thomas Show episode introducing Sheriff Andy Taylor. Frances Bavier played a completely different character in that episode.
At the 6:12 mark, maybe remove the image of Ernest Borgnine from the video when referring to Lindsey. That's not him.
She saw Ruth Buzzi do it too many times and thought it was acceptable for her as well.
I love the show even into today, but never liked this woman. Her attitude showed through on screen. After seeing this video, I dislike her even more. She is one character that should've been replaced. If she didn't like this type of work, she could've not resigned her contract and got into acting that best suited her. She like the money better than the acting. Seems like she was a fake and very pretentious
Oh, don't complain! It's better than what they would have done these days! Instead of Aunt Bee, they would have put some flaming prissy boy in the kitchen with an apron and had endless double entendres! Lol.
I once read that she didn't like playing the older woman because she was as young as her co-stars but looked much older than them. She probably didn't want to be perceived as an old person.
Celebrity often has very bad consequences
Bea was a real jerk in real life!
