    The first time I had the chance to fly a Nosen Mustang was an eye opener. Big flies better. It was the most gentle and easiest war bird I had ever flown. I had only been flying .60-.90 size war birds at the time. I’ve built and flown many T-28 s over the years and sold everyone of them to move on to the next plane. The largest was a Byron Originals 98” wingspan T-28. It flew so easy it was amazing. I also built two 80” T-28s as well and they flew great on glow. I’m looking forward to flying the electric version and the Yellow paint scheme will be easy to see.

    A year or so ago, I'd been eyeing used options of the first white & orange version. Those planes were loved by most of their owners and the asking prices showed it. I was glad I held off, because the yellow version is the first Horizon plane that I pre-ordered. This thing is absolutely glorious in the air, with no bad habits either. Folks at the field are blown away by how slow this plane can fly too. I still need to work harder on landing on the mains, as the nose gear is not bullet-proof.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes sir...it is a splendid plane. I agree on the gear...it is good enough, but protecting the nose gear with good landings becomes more important as the planes get heavier.

    This glorious bird is on my very short "powerball list" of RC planes. The list of rc planes my wife won't divorce me or bury me in the backyard for buying, as long as we've won powerball 1st 😅
    It's gorgeous in both of the most recent liveries. That yellow really pops in the sky, though. Wow.

    Great job Adam & Heidi! I really enjoy your smooth, flowing style of flying. And I appreciate how you use just enough throttle to make the plane fly through a maneuver with the desired speed. I like the slower speed of the retracts, and you made real nice landings with a not quite ideal wind situation. For myself, the landings of a bigger, heavier model need to be scale like as well. If you mess up your approach and landing with one of these larger planes there is more mass and momentum to crush the landing gear into a hard surface runway. So a smooth approach with a very gradual rate of decent helps you touch the wheels down lightly and keep your landing gear intact for a long time to come. You gave us another excellent video! I hope you are both feeling fine now.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      We are feeling much better thank you! You hit the nail on the head. Landing skill is something every pilot should really get a grasp of. It is a basic skill after all, and being good at it can save airplanes...and as you pointed out, the gear too. So many pilots land poorly, break stuff, then blame the plane. There are planes out there with weaker gear to be sure, but good landings can make that a non issue. And yes...the bigger and heavier the plane, the more all that comes in to play.

      Thanks man! Yeah it is pretty light for its size. Got a balsa Spitfire about the same size. 20lbs and $2000. Its hard to make guys that have only ever had foam planes understand what a great deal all the CZ planes are...especially this one. Heck man, the two main retracts and struts for my Spitfire were $350...just the gear. Crazy.

    The yellow looks so good in the sky! I have one new in the box put away but am still flying the Red/White one I fully upgraded. Dubro 2/56 control rods/clevises, 100a avian esc, xwave retracts, a10 80mm trailing link nose gear, robart wheels on the mains... It flys so locked in! I couldn't believe the difference the dubro controls made. Fantastic plane, I'm tempted to build the yellow one just to have the color and see it up in the sky!

    Convert this baby to ball link for all the linkages . The clevises have to much slop and they break overtime . Not sure how many people know this but the ball linkages for the main wing of a super timber work awsome you do have to shorten the rod a little and u have to buy two sets . But it does fix the clevis problem

I'm going "scale geek" on you for a minute...Lol. While this is modeled after a "B" model, the nose looks more like the tapered shape of an "A" model. The T-28A had an 800HP engine...and a two bladed prop. You will love it...eventually. Lol.

    I seen your video on the Arrows Husky 1800mm. I also have the Husky 4s version and i fly on an Admiral 4s 3600 40c and to me the model flyes a bit heavy feeling. In comparison between the Husky and the 2.O carbon z t28, does the t28 fly heavy also? I fly mostly 1.2 to 1.4mm sized models and the Husky did not intimidate ne as far as size, but suprised me on feeling heavy, byt it was my first larger plane that i ever purchased, so I'm curious about the T28.!!!!!!

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Randy, to me the Husky feels pretty light, but I fly it on a 2200 4s, so my packs are lighter. Also I have a lot of balsa plane experience and size for size they are always heavier...the only exception being high quality 3D planes. So most foam planes feel light to me. Also I run that lighter pack a bit back in the battery bay of the Husky. If you are running a heavier pack and the plane is a bit nose heavy, that will make it feel heavy flying. Often the manual CG on the foamys is very conservative, and you can go back a bit from there. You adjust the expo to counter more responsiveness.
      We covered how the T-28 feels in the video a good bit, but to summarize it has a very light wing loading for a warbird its size. I have a balsa Spitfire the same size, its 20lbs. The T-28 comes in at just under 13lbs with a big fat 7000mah 6s pack that gives us a 10 to 12 minute flight time. Getting into planes this size can be intimidating, but don't let it. Bigger flies better, and usually the bigger you go the more that is obvious. Keep in mind set-up has a lot to do with it. A great set-up can make a smaller plane shine and a bad set-up can negate the advantages of a bigger one. That said the T-28 flies SO good. For what its worth, after flying Scott's...I have one on order for myself. I'll be glad when they are back in stock!

    very nice video! i'm thinking about getting this bird as my first plane. i'm rc heli pilot and want to check out planes. do you think this plane would be good as a beginner? (with rc heli flying knowledge)

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! So, it really depends on the individual. I've seen some Heli pilots transition as if they've been doing it all along, and I've seen others struggle. Clearly, Heli's are harder to fly, but there are differences that may not come natural to every pilot. I would suggest testing the waters with something cheaper first, so if your first plane gets bent a bit is isn't with a nice $650 plane. Once you know you have it, go for the big T-28. It is awesome.
