I just got the BlitzRC version 1.1. I started flying in2022 with 64mm EDFs, bank and yank belly landers and fixed gears. I crashed most of them in the past 2 years. I was going to give up on the hobby but my buddy said give the T28 a shot. Last week I flew with a rudder for the very first time. It is what I've been missing all these years of flying. Rudder to me is that last piece of the puzzle, the cherry on top. T28 is my weekend flyer now, learning more, landing more, and having the most fun than when I started the hobby.
Rudder is essential for sure, and T-28's fly awesome.
Great comparison/review, the T-28 has always been the best first warbird choice for new pilots looking to break into the warbird realm, it’s the most forgiving and CG tolerant plane I’ve experienced 👍🫡🇺🇸
Thanks Mike, I agree. Every T-28 flies pretty darn good.
Excellent flying, camera work and narration. You knocked it outta the park buddy. Super helpful. I have gotta pick up one of these 1.2m T-28s while they’re still on sale.
Thanks very much, glad it was helpful!
Hello Adam and Heidi. I discovered your channel a few months ago and have enjoyed each episode. Always professional with very good content, you’ve developed a great format that’s thorough and easy to use with the included bookmarks. Adam’s consistent rock solid flying skills combined with Heidi’s exceptional photography and editing skills are both top notch. A sincere thank you for the time and energy you both put into your channel. - Bob
Bob thank you for taking the time to write that. Both Heidi and I truly appreciate it! We're so glad you enjoy our channel.
Another great review. Superbly thorough. Thanks for your time and effort.
Much appreciated!
Brilliant again, thx.
I really enjoy your vids.
Thank you! Glad you enjoy!
Great video again Adam. Kinda funny how a simple plane like the 1.1m is one of my favorite planes to fly. The rv7 and cherokee are my next. Lots of lights on those baby's. The 1.2 has no lights. 370 bucks, no thanks. Thanks for sharing, love your informative channel teaches me alot.
Thanks Jay! Yep the RV7 and Cherokee have great light packages.
A great video Adam that is very informative with great filming by Heidi. More comparisons like this would make great subjects even between different manufacturers. Keep up the great work 👍👍
Thanks very much!
Great video as always my friend, very informative 👊🏼👊🏼
Thanks man!
great flights and thoughts of both T28's...very nice video, have a great week...
Thanks, you too!
You did a great job comparing the two to help someone know truly what they want, great video!
Thanks very much!
Best review, well presented an very informative/helpful
Thanks very much!
Nice job on showing the comparisons of each plane! Thanks for the nice video! 🏴☠Semper Fi
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it.
Extremely helpful, Adam! And I subscribe to any word you said about the 1.1m, as I have it (and love it). The 1.2 will probably come soon - the retracts are really very attractive 😊. Thank you for this great comparison and thumbs up for the superb flying!
Thanks very much! Both of these T-28's are great flyers.
Sadly, I managed to crash mine today… 🤦♂️😢 tempting fate and not 3 mistakes high - I’m just glad that Bubba hasn’t seen that 😂.
Regarding the 1.2m version: It’s a pity that HH hasn’t added at least nav lights. It would really have deserved it ( to make it perfect) and was ideal for dusk flyers. If I buy one, I’ll pretty likely retrofit some. (Unless HH releases a light featured V3 first )
Dang man, sorry about your crash.
@@ModelAV8RChannel ❤️ good that I wasn’t stupid enough to try this with my P51 😂. But it was a good lesson that I’m still not there, wrong or ambiguous reflexes to try such crazy things. But guess what: my new Eratix will arrive soon to better train these. Flight Sim is a good starting point, but doesn’t reflect live physics as well. Example: I hardly get a plane to bounce on landing in the sim. Real world: add a ‘not’ 😆. (Particularly true on the Habu 50) That’s why I’m always flashed when seeing you starting and landing ANY model like on rails 👍🏻😊 (The T28 is an easy one for me as well, though)
Outstanding comparison Adam! I have "a few" of the old PZ T-28's and love them! Simple, honest, capable. I really like the newer E-flite yellow version, especially on 4s! It gets quite peppy you might say. I've never owned or flown the 1.2m version, but I'm seriously looking at it now due to your video. Keep up the great work brother!
Thanks brother! Man the 1.1's are awesome, and have been for a very long time. You'd enjoy the 1.2, she slows down well and is well mannered. When you push the throttle up...wow!
Cool video, thanks. I own and love them both!
Thanks! Both great airplanes!
Many thks Adam. Very nice video and interesting comments on these 2 models.
We appreciate that.
JPhilippe.
Thanks very much, we appreciate you watching and commenting. Both great airplanes. Truth be told, hard to find a bad T-28. Great design.
Great content as usual!
Much appreciated!
Great job all around. Heidi is really upping her game with the new production design really likes the transitions and the pop up info... Super informative video comparing the two T-28s (the best). Oh, and Adam's shirt was a beautiful classic... RIP BL......
Thanks Will! Yep we needed to streamline this one a bit to keep it from being 45 minutes. Heidi is awesome...and so was BL...
I’ve got the V1 T28 1.2 with nose gear mod and I love it. Very easy to fly, very predicable flight path, very stable and good stall tendencies.
Yep, great airplane!
What a great video. Relatively new to the hobby here. Really enjoyed the way you flew these two planes. Incredibly graceful and stable which gave it such a genuine full scale quality that’s crazy fun to watch. Great info as well. New subscriber for sure!
Thanks Josh! Welcome man. Hope you continue to enjoy the channel. Pretty much all T-28's fly well, and there two are great examples of that.
@@ModelAV8RChannel I bought a relatively cheap XK Cub, the A160 Skylark , as my first plane and a trainer so to speak. It’s been an absolute blast. And despite a lot of negative reviews, I have a fantastic experience with this plane. Now I’m ready to dive a little deeper. So I purchased a gently used NX6 transmitter and will be shopping for my first BNF soon. These T28’s are certainly on the short list. However, I want to get a considerable amount of practice landing in before taking the plunge. Your flying style is the exact reason I love this hobby!
@@ModelAV8RChannel And almost forgot, the person who films your vids does an incredible job keeping the plane in frame and centered. MUCH better than most RC Channels!!! Really impressive camera work as well.
I love my 1.1m on 4S 2200mAh Smart packs. I also increased the throws a bit and it makes a very noticeable difference. I also added three lite coats of exterior UV blocking water based clear semi-gloss to protect the paint long-term. Love the way this plane "whistles" on the downlines. This is a really good comparison video. As always sir, great flying!
Thanks very much! So many of us have been enjoying the 1.1's for a long time.
I would love the 1.2 but for now I enjoy the 1.1 with the Gear removed!!
Yes sir Joel, makes a great hand tosser plane!
A very professional video Adam, also thanks for showing some grass ops for us that do not have access to paved runway. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks very much! Glad it was helpful.
You’re a great RC Pilot, I’m enjoying your videos.
I appreciate that!
Good job by the camra guy and its one of the best review i ever seeing
Thanks very much, glad it was helpful!
Great review Adam, it does look a very nice flying plane in either size!! The Trojan has never really done it for me, the same as the air tractor!! I know im missing out on some great planes, but that spark is just not there for me!! I enjoyed watching you fly the 1.2m Trojan scale, it did look very nice!! As always Heidi has done a fab job with the filming and editing!! Great job 😀👍
Thank you Ian! Yep, might not be everybody's cup of tea, but they do fly great.
Another awesome Upload as usual Brother! My friend has both of these and I am lucky enough to get to fly them, all i have to do is ask if he will bring one to the Field. I love how scale the 1.2 is and how docile it can be but if you throw the juice to her she can move!
The little 1.1 is my favorite though, I love burning through packs doing Touch & Goes, she will just about land herself, and it has ample power as well. I think i am going to have to eventually buy my own 1.1 though because i would like to put a touch taller Tire on it for when the Grass on the truck path gets a bit to tall.
I am so happy you tested these 2 wonderful Warbirds. I do really like the Orange & White though, but the color would definitely not sway me from getting that little 1.1
Thanks again for sharing your experience and setup with us, hope you and Mrs Heidi have a wonderful weekend! 🇺🇸✈️🤙🏼
That's great Adam! Glad you get to fly them, but yeah...you need a 1.1. Such a great plane. Have a great weekend as well!
Great background and review on the models mate. I got the 1.2m but wanted larger so replaced it with the FMS 1.4m, installed the 550KV beaver motor and fly on 7s. It very quick and handles the weight very well. So easy to fly!
Thanks man! Yep, all T-28's tend to fly really well.
Great job Adam. 😊
Thanks Mark!
i got the t28 1.1mm rc plane from ebay my transmitter will. arive few days later cant wait to fly this
Enjoy!
Love the T28 in general. Those Eflight models are just something else, though.
I thought I'd "mastered" my trainer, until i brought it to the beach with the fam this week. That's an entirely new kind of difficulty, dealing with unpredictable gusts, a big, scary At
Atlantic ocean, dunes, and wild life.
I'll be waiting a little longer to get that 1.2m Trojan. Gonna take some will power, though.
Thanks for another great review 👍
Thanks Al! Yeah man flying at the beach is a whole new experience!
Thank you so mach for that video
You are so welcome!
Once again a great vid with all the facts needed , I have both and like them a lot , I fly the 1.2 on 4S 4K and it still will creep along with full flaps pretty slow
Thanks man. Yep the 1.2 has a big wing, does well even with the heavier packs.
Your computer SNAFU made us wait a week - but it was worth it. Great video overall - I enjoyed it very much. I have the 1.2 set up more conservatively as I usually only fly scale type maneuvers. But I may add some kick to my flippers and see how I like that. Thank you.
Thanks very much! yep, some folks want to see them thrown around so we do that usually. I prefer to fly Warbirds scale myself.
Good comparison! Two great planes and as always very difficult to choose when they are so close in size. I think these 1.2m E-Flite warbirds are a great bunch of planes. I've certainly enjoyed them.
I agree, they are all good.
Good stuff Adam, nice review of the two T-28 models. I've got the yellow 1.1. I think most have had some version of it at some point. Dig the 1.2, maybe one of these days ;-).
AirHammer out!!
Thanks Hammer! Yep, they are great airplanes!
Liked the history lesson. I must say, I was a bit skeptical getting my 1.1 but fell in love with it since the first flight. It's tough as nails for my often bouncy landings and probably the best value BNF imo.
Great video!
Thanks very much, and we agree!
Adam the iconic 1.1 is fantastic. Like all the other T28s from the umx T28 to the CZ T28. Jeff in LA USA
It is! Thanks Jeff!
Hi Adam, I joined your channel after watching for the 1st time your review on the new Apprentice stol 700 mm. Your thorough and well in depth review, convinced me to decide to purchase one. I have the T-28 Trogan 1.2 and hopefully after mastering the apprentice transition into the T 28. Would you be able to share with me the ideal flap settings on the trogan that you found were ideal. Thanks for sharing and keep up the excellent work.
Thanks very much for the kind words! Welcome. Glad you enjoy the channel.
So, just as an FYI, to make things easier for our viewers ...on all our review videos we have a set up and set up info page chapter. All the important info and settings we used are there. There are chapter jumps in the description. You click on "more" at the bottom right hand part of the description (the light grey area below the video) and it will open up the entire description. You'll see some links, and then chapters. Click on the blue time that corresponds to the chapter you want to check out, and it will take you right to that point in the video. In this video the set up chapter starts at 4:17. You can pause the set up info page when it comes up and make a note of any of the settings you'd like to duplicate on yours (including our flap settings). Enjoy your RC AV8R journey, and we're here anytime you have questions.
Hi @Model AV8R, great to know about your channel on RCGroups! This comparison is awesome. Well explained in the beginning with lots of facts and then a nice flying pretty scale review and aerobatics also. I loved your landing with the tail pretty low. I suppose that is a possibility to slow her down more quickly. I began to fly on january on a third hand Turbo Timber 1.5 with SAFE but not flying to well. The 1,1m T-28 was my second plane (also used) and I could fly her directly without SAFE. I have crashed her a couple of times but she still flyes pretty great. Just take offs on grass aren't so easy. I just can go full throttle and don´t make it such a scale as you. GREAT VIDEO! Subscribed
Thanks very much! Glad you liked it. Welcome to the hobby my friend!
@@ModelAV8RChannel Hi Adam! This was my first video on your channel :)) Thanks for welcoming and inspiring me to try the 64mm Futura. I have ordered in total 6 of this great flyers. And I have tested mine also on 5S and 6S :) In the club the guys were amazed how good she handles on gras and overall... but that is another topic... I´ll send you a new short on the Futura Video :) best regards from south east Bavaria!
You make landings look amazingly simple and smooth Adam! I just got my 1.2 and landings are great but I can see I'm coming in with too much speed.
Hey Adam what about a video on " how to do those tumbles and snap rolls". I'm 7-8 months into this hobby... I can fly inverted( not so pretty) rolls and aileron rolls are ok. I don't have a clue how to do those snaps/tumbles!
Thanks very much! We are actually planning on doing a instructional vid on landings. We might be able to doe a basic aerobatics instructional as well. Glad you got into the hobby...so much rewarding fun. Welcome!
The 1.2 T-28 is just about my favorite plane. I have had several due to stupid pilot errors, like accelerated stalls & pulling out of loop 6" underground 😱 Great review as always 🤠
Thanks man! Yeah they are only so tough...every now and then we test them more than we mean to! Lol
awesome awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it!
As I mentioned elsewhere, I love my battered old grey PZ 1.1M version. I removed the gear and simply hand toss and belly land. I didn’t like the springy gear and it looks so much better in flight without it. You got me wondering what I’d need to do to get it on 4S! If I was buying a new one, having watched your video, it would be the 1.2M for sure
Man they all fly good. 1.2 has some crazy power!
I have my ☕️ now my nerves have settled & i am ready to enjoy Adam.
Have you noticed the wheel set are quite loose & wobbly. The shop sent me another pair but i had fixed them by threading some heat shrink tube. Lovely flights indeed. Well filmed Heidi. Love the Jet & train sfx.
Are you reviewing the 2m version?
Hey thanks Noel! No, haven't noticed that with the gear, but we only have maybe 4 flights on it. The heat shrink sounds like a great tighter upper. Oh, and we have a fun flight with the 2.0 in the can. Will release in the coming weeks.
Have the 1.1 put it off for awhile as I wasn't sure, man i love this plane, definitely looking at the 1.2 for the next level, love it.. thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!
Real good video and info Adam one of these two is on my bucket list I like the 1.1 for size but like the 1.2 for more scale look and features what to do lol 🤔😄👍👍
Thanks Frank! One of them will do ya! Lol
Get both, and then install flaps on the 1.1m like I did...
I would like too but running out of hanger space looking to sell some of my bigger ones
Another great video. I’ve had both of them and still have my 1.1m T28 and love how it flies. My biggest complaint and the reason I got ride of it was the front landing gear was weak and always bent on landing. Any suggestions on a front landing gear upgrade?
Thanks very much!
Im a terrible pilot that lands on an unpaved dirt runway and I never had a problem with the front landing gear breaking. You've got to land on the mains first and then let the nose touch down on its own. Not trying to be rude, but you need to work on the landings...
Hi. Do you ever consider using one of those
engine sound units in your models?
PS I think your are the best RC Pilot !!🍀
Thanks very much! Haven't used a sound module.
That was the 1.2m T28 I was asking about the front landing gear upgrade. I would like to get another one. Thanks
Hey Clay. I've been flying these 1.2's since they came out in 2015 as many of my flying buddies had/have them. I have seen the nose gear bend like you're talking about. There are a couple of caveats...
With any tricycle gear model, doesn't matter who makes it...the nose gear is often thought to be a weak part, and it is usually, but for good reason. The idea is to land a tricycle gear plane on the mains and let them take the brunt of the stress of landing. Full scale pilots are taught to "protect the nose gear" when they learn as this is the case with full scale planes as well.
Unfortunately many model pilots make one of two mistakes...or both, and put undue stress on the nose gear. They either hit nose gear first, and put the brunt of the stress on the nose gear, or they land in grass that is so thick it grabs the plane and almost stops it immediately. Either one can bend/break things as far as the nose gear is concerned.
So...model companies build in a "failure point". With fancy bigger planes the failure point is usually the pin that holds the oleo strut in the retract trunion. With a smaller plane like the 1.2 T-28 it is the gear leg itself. If the pin holding an oleo on breaks, or the gear leg wire simply bends...that is a good thing. Those are easy fixes. If the strut or gear wire is so strong it won't bend, the next thing to break will be the plastic retract housing itself, or the screws holding the retract in will strip. Those are not easy fixes, and can cost you a new retract unit.
So basically in my experience any plane that has a reputation for having weak gear...there are always many that don't have an issue with them. What makes that inconsistent is simply the way pilots land the planes. I can't help you if I'm not honest with you, so I would say the best solution is to make a habit to protect the nose gear landing. As you become more consistent, you'll discover that gear issues that plague some...won't be an issue for you. Until then, just bend her back in place and press on! Lol.
I hope this helps! Happy flying!
Any nose gear breakage I've had has always been due to a bad landing that placed undue stress on the nose gear itself. Gotta land on the mains, but mistakes happen all of the time...
1.2 is back ordered, I crashed mine and the landing gear is also back ordered. I might get stuck buying a Banana Hobby Trojan ARF and just use the Eflight electronics and propulsion
PNP is back-ordered, the BNF is in stock. Some parts are back-ordered, but like the PNP... will be available at some point. Check out the RC groups marketplace, you might find one cheap you can use for parts.

@@itzjoeylo4501 Sorry, they are called classifieds on RCG. Used planes and such.
I've enjoyed my yellow 1.1n T-28...so much so that plane #1 (bought earlier in my flying career) has been replaced with a new one recently. But the older one still flies on as my "beater" plane...the one I'm not afraid try next level skills with. But I gotta say the new yellow Carbon Z is a dream to fly. I've not been able to warm up to the goofy nose art on the 1.2m, so I've opted for the P-47 instead. Besides, how many T-28's should one man own? 😂
That is great, the 1.1 is such a solid plane. You are right, the 2.0 CZ is a dream to fly! We have a fun flight with one releasing in the coming weeks.
I fly mine 11 minutes in the 3s i don't fly fast or hard.. Did adjustments on landing gear, had my crashes but a great plane a lot of fun.
Super video, I just want to buy Trojan 1.1 as something I can fly on meadows near my house. The only thing that annoys me is saying "WE" all the time. I live in Poland and it reminds me terribly of communism, where the authorities referred to themselves as "WE" and there is also a mental illness that polticians have, which is characterized by calling themselves "WE". Other than that your videos are always of a high standard, in this one I only miss the mention of the history of the T28 aircraft, which probably in the aviation culture of the USA has a lot of importance which for me as a European is interesting.
Dude, you are reading way too much into something very simple. Stop trying to look for the next thing to be offended by. I say "we" because this channel is not just about me. It is a team effort between me and my wife...so "we" it is.
@@ModelAV8RChannel calmly, I am not offended, etc. It's just that on the Internet it's difficult to write your emotions or convey your sense of humor. if I said the same thing to you, but directly you would sense that I am not a very serious and you would smile along with me. Besides, I already bought my Trojan 1.1 - a nice and simple plane for everyday use. Greetings!
hi Adam, i don't suppose you've had the opportunity to fly the FMS 1400mm T28 have you? Would appreciate your thoughts on how it shapes up if so.
I actually have. I used to own the older Silver Air Force version. All T-28s really fly well, and are usually the best flying planes in a specific full featured warbird size line. Bigger flies better...that is a true statement you've probably heard before. HK has a 1100mm...flies great. The 1.2 E-flite flies a bit better. The 1400 FMS flies a bit better than the 1.2, and the best flying T-28 I've flown is the 2.0 Carbon Z. Whatever size is your thing...you'll enjoy the T-28 that size, and the FMS 1400 is a great airplane.
@@ModelAV8RChannel that is really good to hear Adam. It seems that the Eflite 1.2m - also running 4s - has a bit more punch in the sky and better flight times than the FMS, but doesn’t have led lights and it seems not as good landing gear. It’s a really tough call ! If I may ask, do you rate Reflex, or would you go Spektrum and install that set up ?
@JMTerry1984 I'm sure the Reflex works fine, but if it were me, I'd go with Spektrum just because I can use forward programming in my TX to adjust the AS3X if I want to.
I hear the nose gear bends over time with just taxiing on the ground on the grass. Is this true?
I’m referring to the 1.2
On the 1.2? I'm not sure to be honest, we haven't had any issues with that, but we taxi slow and the grass is short. I have flown quite a few of these since 2015 as several of my buddies have/had them. I have seen the gear bend on bad, nose first landings. It is fine when the landings are main gear first good landings. When they do boink them its easy to bend back in place.
Absolutely not true! Adam shows clearly in this video that is not the case, even though some people on social media and forums -- falsely -- claim otherwise. The gear bends due to their abuse as a result of bad landings. No one likes to hear the problem is them and not the model, but in this case, it's most definitely them (and they need to practice their landings so they learn to land better/properly!).
@@JMOnline11 Thanks!!
I flew the 1.2 on a 4s 5000 and it flew just fine . She was definitely a little heavier, but as long as the cg is correct no problemo.
A 5000 would make it feel too heavy for me personally, but I'm not surprised it flies good with one. Great airplane.
How long is your runway?
The one where we flew the 1.2 is a turbine club, so 1000ft. The one where we flew the 1.1 is about 390ft.
