I expected him to be perfectionist, especially now with VAR. But... Nestor is proof that just one bad game can ruin your own reputation for life. Even with VAR he made bad decisions and he did that in a world cup final, you just dont do that... Its even more tragic because of VAR, I guess we all thought that technology will make football more fair, but what for is great technology when you have judge as Nestor doing a job? Poorly done, shameful, I hope he wont judge any other final ever, people dont deserve to feel robbed. Total disgrace.

Very bad in the final.France scored the first goal from a non existing free kick(also there was interferrence from a french player in an offside position).Penalty should not be awarded,it was a split second for Perisic to move his hand from the ball).

Awarding a 100% dive and later a pen for France, and not giving a pen for Croatia, all that in the WC 2018 FINAL....well, i hope FIFA wont let this guy on the pitch anymore. He can be the best ref in the world but messing up the finals so bad is unforgivable mistake.
No foul on the first goal, it's a big Griezman simulation and he gives a penalty for an unintentional hand of Perisic while Matuidi missed the ball in front of him. This was the referee of the final ?! It's shameful ! He's a bad referee, like Cunha also they have always been very bad ...

Because Matuidi have played and missed the ball. If he touch the ball, it would never been touched by the Croatian, so it's can't be intentional. You see in camera you thing that but it's too fast, and he couldn't know Matuidi would miss the ball.

What ?! A lot of referees does it, that's not new. Maybe the handball wasn't intentional, but we can see Perisic who move his arm to touch the ball.

Unfortunately the ref made multiple errors in judgement. Particularly the first two goals awarded to France shouldn't have.
The first goal was not a foul at all. Antoine Griezmann dived before the opponent touch him. The ref was too far to see it and blew his whistle only by Griezmann reaction!!
The 2nd goal wasn't a penalty. First the defender's was up in the air challenging for the ball. Then the ball passed the French striker and reached him too quickly. Third the movement of the defenders' hands were in the natural direction considering he was descending. So this would not have been called a handball.
So all in all this was the most erroneous judgement of a World Cup final, ever?
Perisic jumped with both arms opened, hardly ever a handball is intentionally, he blocked the ball with his arm opened, it's a penalty. In that case Pique's handball against Russia shouldn't be a penalty, "because the ball reached him too quickly".

The ball missed the French players head and went into Perisic who quickly tried to move his hands closer to his body in case the ball hits him - not deliberate handball.

@@OrangeBroom seems you don't know the rules, if the ball hits a player's hand without it being close enough to his body, then it's a penalty, doesn't matter if there was no intention, doesn't matter if he was trying to take his hand away from the ball at the time the contact happened, it's a penalty. As simple as that.

Either corrupt or blind, he gifted France with 2 unjust goals that made the difference in the end. I know that people whine about refs all the time, but this one was at a whole new level. Check out the relevant scenes if you don't believe me. FIFA probablly bribed him to let the more multicultural team (France) win over the more nationalistic team (Croatia) in accordance with their corporate ideology. All these "say no to racism" projects and the ethnically divere ads produced by FIFA show where they stand. I thought that he had a pretty courrpt face when I first saw him. I fear that I was correct.

This referee made many mistakes today! He helped France win by awarding them a dangerous free kick and a penalty which should not have happen. I believe any other referee would not have given a foul and penalty. Croatia's dominance during the first half would have a different outcome if not for the fact that the referee awarded France a free kick due to Griezmann's dive and a penalty. This just demoralized Croatia and killed their spirit. France cheated the world cup from Croatia, thanks to this lousy referee, I'm sure he will enjoy his bonus. A lousy world cup because of your stupid incompetence. I can not believe that the VAR referee agreed with his decision. VAR is stupid and has no place in Football, especially when referees still make the wrong calls. VAR is perhaps good for American Football but not European Football. What do you mean? The referee for the South Korea vs. Italy game (byron moreno) was from Ecuador who made it into the world cup but were already eliminated prior to the match. This referee for the final between France and Croatia is from Argentina who also made the world cup but got eliminated. I wouldn't be surprised if he'll be a bit unfair to the French since they eliminated Argentina....

LOBO NEGRO The ball deflected off Matuidi who was just half a yard away from Perisic, Perisic had no chance and time to move his hand away while the ball was travelling at that speed within such a short distance. Croatia had a couple of shots deflected off from France players but he gave goal kicks instead of corner kicks.

The VAR was a joke when it favored one of the two teams while the referee made mistakes but who made up for themselves (Morocco, Colombia, ...)

You mean that it was useful in the end to compensate for biased decisions for France. In 2006, they help France as much as they can! In 1998, Thuram made a mistake against the Croatian player to take the ball, in the final Zidane made a mistake to Dunga too. The French team is never the best and their "lucky" is always favored by the referees.
