The semi finals match between Portugal and England was supposed to be played at Goodison Park, midway into the journey and already in the bus, the Portuguese team were surprised by the news that the match was now taking place at Wembley. Almost arriving in Liverpool the Bus was turned around to London and most of the players didnt even sleep more than 2-3 hours in their rooms, England knew that in a fair match their Home World Cup run would be terminated by the superior Portuguese team, Nobby Stiles only managed to man mark Eusebio, because Eusebio was completly drained, as most of the team, dont forget that at this time there were no substitutions, if you get a player injured you play with 10 men, no exceptions, the starting eleven always played the full 90 minutes.
ok it might be true however they didn't say how dirty were the Portuguese against Brazil they played a ma hunt against Pele, they would kick him, and fault him, it was ok if they would have just marked him, they went completely brutal against him until they injured him badly

I met Eusibio and Pele in my father store in the 1970s. I'm from Canada and we thought nothing of soccer back then and as a 11 your old child I did not realize I had royalty in my presence. I was so lucky to meet the Black pearl and the Black panther at the same time but , I reiterate, I was oblivious to these two men and did not think much of them but as a older man ,I was in heaven.❤

That is a very dumb comment! Why would he or any other player of the time be subjected to play at the current level and yet the players of today not subjected to conditions of the yore? The conditions are completely different; even the rules of the games were completely different. You do not realize how heavy and hard the balls and the boots with metal studs were at the time? They were literally solid rocks. The players of the day could not afford the luxury of running and sliding along the pitches on their knees or butts in celebration of a goal. The pitches were rough, bumpy and hard frequently causing career ending injuries.
The players of the time were simply not only the toughest but arguably the best of all times! The laws of the game has evolved considerably to protect players, but has unfortunately created the overprotected filthy rich spoiled brats we celebrate today in the process. These modern day diving prima donnas would have not survived the vicious tackles of the day when the game had no yellow and red cards to protect them? Besides, back in the day should a team lose a player during the game due to injury, lord behold, substitution was not an option either! Football was a war zone, my friend. It separated men from the boys.

Eusebio never left Portugal. He got his recognition playing for Benfica and for the national team. He also broke loads of records. To mention that at the time he didn't play against San Marino, Andorra etc...
At the time all the teams were pretty even. He had several injuries that would end any average player's career in a minute. I'm sure that if would play nowadays he would be better than Ronaldo. The strength, the dribble, the shooting power the magic...they don't lie. Just appreciate it.

my hero, I saw him and Benfica squad, everyday at the coffee shop I lived in Benfica and the street where club was, I moved to Toronto and then he played for Toronto Blizzard, we won the cup and met him and shake his hand never forget my hero I was just a kid.
