@@Mfidelity I got a little behind on people's videos and I still have to watch your response. You are right in that Candle in the Wind is a bit overplayed but I still like it.

Fantastic video! Great to see a kindred King Crimson fan, such a seminal and important group. I have been known to thrash 'People' from Thrak. It starts happily enough but then, whoa, watch out! I was considering a Nilsson song from A Little Touch Of... for mine - a sublime record. Thanks for such a great tag .. subbed! 🙏
@@TheInstituteofPop I've reviewed many of King Crimson records in the past and have been working my way through their studio albums doing a deep dive video into each one in chronological order, but I only made it up through Best before I took a short hiatus. I need to finish that series after Christmas. I have been a big fan of Nilsson since the 70s and I really appreciate him as a great songwriter. Merry Christmas from The Great (Extremely) White North!
@ I’ve noticed your deep dives on KC and intend to dip my toe in later this evening (I’ll treat myself with Lizard)! I’m doing the same on my channel with my fave band, The Church. Likewise, all the best for the festive season! ✌️
@TheInstituteofPop I'll have to check out The Church deep dives. It's funny that my love for their music can be credited to one song of theirs that I loved the minute I first heard it and that was "Russian Autumn Heart". That was my entry point for getting to know their music better.
Mike, great video but Creep is the one Radiohead song I actually like! Next year I plan to buy OK Computer and listen to it again. I use to have the CD but never could get into it. Maybe it will finally click for me Yes, I am an eternal optimist to a fault!
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Optimism is a good fault to have. Ok Computer is a great album but the things that make it great become more apparent after a few listens. I might be determined to make you into a Radiohead fan. But the real love of the band comes from non-casual listening. Get to know the songs one album at a time and you'll find they start to stick in your head.
@TCatsDeepVinylTraxx My brother brought me his 80's early 90's record collection (while he is overseas) full of synth pop bands like depeche mode, the cure, peter murphy, etc enough stuff for a response without getting into metal lol Too bad I don't have time for a deep dive now...
I agree on Radiohead. I love that Band of Horses track! Every Smiths song is the correct answer for this question 🙂 Sid and Nancy is a great choice. Yes, that Wings track is too much!
@@EmbryonicRobot Isn't it funny how sad and depressing music can be so good and even comforting at times. I've come to realize when I really listen to the lyrics just how a lot of my favorites are a bit bleak.
I like all Radiohead, and Creep is a song I don't tire of.. I get it, though.. I have to admit, I like "Silly Love Songs" and "Let 'Em In". In 1976 those two tunes were better than a bunch of stuff fed to us on the FM radio ! I'm so depressed ! ... NOT !! LoL ! 🙂 Nice response, Mike
@@jtsrecordroom3963 I like most of McCartney's corny songs like Let 'em In and Uncle Albert but Silly Love Songs was a bit too sappy for me and too repetitive. Plus it's too polished lol. Radiohead is also a favorite band of mine and I love all of their music but Creep has been worn out for me.
I totally get that about Sir Paul.. With The Hip, I get that, too ! For me, a lot of good songs, but somethings missing. The more I listen, the more I like their large body of work.
This time of year can be tough for a lot of people for a lot of different reasons. Sometimes it's hard to see hope in any situation. I never tire of the song "Creep." I'm a huge fan of Radiohead and Ryan Adams. Great choice with that one. Morrissey is melancholy. Not one of Paul's shining moments. Have a nice holiday Mike.
@@mad4vinyl802 Creep is the only song by Radiohead that has been "worn out" for me. I love everything they've done and they are definitely a favorite band but that song has just been overplayed. I also like everything else Sir Paul has done but that one was not only annoying but was also too polished. Merry Christmas to you also Mark. I wish you the best for you and yours.
Great response. "Come Pick Me Up" is an excellent choice. Love that Harry Nilsson song. I picked "Candle In The Wind" for question 1.
