Hey audio friends! Check out my new album, recorded in my home studio. It's not generic garbage, trust me. I think you'll like it: distrokid.com/hyperfollow/cthreep/karma-harm
ADVICE: The best way to sync audio is the clap technique. All you do is have both mic and camera running. Then, right before you start talking and such, clap 3 or so times. Clapping gives the audio files big, huge, hard to miss bumps where you will be able to visually see where the claps are. Now using audio software, you can line up the claps, and once there lined up, just go to the point where you start talking, cut everything before that, and start working.
My issue is that I'm recording with screen-capture software. There is no audio associated with the video being recorded, the program I use is free and actually doesn't support audio. (VCL media player---best media player I've ever seen. Support them if you can, the video recording is a perk. It's free software, has file repairing options that have actually fixed broken files of mine, and is extremely reliable, functional, and plays just about any file you can think of. Not paid, wish I were, Lol.) My Idea in this situation is to start my audio recording with my external microphone...and then make a vocal note of the moment I start the screen capture, so I will have something to line up to. Thanks C-Threep, this video software you suggested works great for the purpose intended!
Thank you for making it so simple! Too many tutorials are people wanking over how much they know about a thing - this is straight forward and super easy to follow. *subscribes*
Great video. Really well laid out, explained nicely, and clear and simple instructions. Wasn't longer than it needed to be and I know exactly what I need to do!
I use an editor called "open shot video editor" it has a feature were you can snap clips and audio together. I start my video first and the snal the end of the audio onto the end of the clip. It works perfectly for me!
Bingo!! This is the exact video I was looking for. One request, can you pls also show how a TH-cam video can be created using Samsung S7+ tablet where audio and video sync is aligned and also how the various effects (transition/text/cinematic effect etc) can be included in the final video output.
It's insane that somebody has invented gear with a single trigger that can start video and an external audio recorder simultaneously and thereby avoid all this post production syncing business. With so many people making videos you would think this would be priority. How easy would it be to upload files that are already synced! Am I missing something?
C-threep coming in clutch as always. Also nice thumbnail haha. I've always liked the thumbnails on your videos. Even though it's not audio related, you should totally do a tutorial on how you make your thumbnails.
+Random Gerardo You should make some acoustic video game covers. They'd sell like hot cakes. And one of these days maybe I will do a thumbnail tutorial...
C-Threep Haha that would be awesome to do. Just trying to get school done in the meantime and hopefully I can dedicate more time for that in the future.
Yeah I thought about that. It's just that the mixing in those clips is very limited because of the app and I don't know what people would think about that but I'd probably do it. Also just got a new electric and I can probably start recording on reaper now. And with the help of your videos, I can probably pump out something cool.
Hey thanks for this, I just had to get a separate mic and recorder for my audio. My kick ass Sony RX 100 Vi is missing one important part "Mic input". But no big deal but I had to piece together a rig
Best, simple video on this. Thank you! What software did you record the audio and video into in the first place? I have audacity to record audio, is there a good software to record the video? Can you just record straight into the NCH Software?
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I've been scouring youtube trying to figure out how to do this and you just answered all my questions in ONE Video. Definitely Subscribing!!!!
Finally I found your video very useful Thanks man I was looking for this content from a long time but u made me clear today Keep up the good work I will subscribe ur channel now Thanks again
This all makes sense, however I'm finding that for very long videos (1hr +) when I line up the audio at the start of the video, by the end of the video, the audio and video have fallen out of sync (only by about a second, but still an issue). Does anyone know why this is happening? From what I've been able to find out, it may have something to do with audio sample rate. Standard cameras record audio at a sample rate of 48kHz, whereas DAWs default to a 44.1kHz sample rate (industry standard for audio production). Can anyone tell me if this slight discrepancy in playback speed would be due to a sample rate difference between camera audio and microphone audio? If this is the case, then would it be best to change your sample rate in your DAW to 48kHz when you know it will need to be synced with a video file?
Great video, however I have a question, " be mindful a new newbie" How do I sync video and audio from a previously video clip that I have imported into a editing software. Please advise
Recently subscribed to you. I like your stuff man, keep it up! Would love to here your thoughts and suggestions on the importance/unimportance of mastering your songs sometime
+Brady Wright Thanks for the support! Mastering a song is important always, if only to make sure that the volume is where it needs to be. But it's also a helpful tool to create balance with its frequencies and make the overall track more cohesive.
Just what u was looking for... thanks... totally new to this, is there a certain file format the footage should be recorded in so audio comes up on the software... my camera isn't that expensive and is a video camera not slr... thanks
What about talking over a pre recorded dance music mix for the purposes of teaching dance? Hey all thanks for the shared wisdom. So how do I sync my dance teaching and also let viewers have the best sound quality with a separate music mix channel with my voice over the top after? Headphones to hear the mix and keep separate from the mic or zoom recorder. Then mix down mic and soundtrack in the movie editor?
Would have been good to talk about what FPS to shoot in and then matching that with the sample rate too ... Filming in 24/25FPS and putting that in final cut Recording audio at 48khz in the sample rate ?
Thankfully, frames per second and audio sample rate are totally unrelated. They don’t cancel each other out or do any weird things if you have them set to certain settings. You’re trying to achieve separate goals with each of them.
C-Threep Music can you help me prevent my podcasts from going out of sync in post production - I film for around 1 hour 30 With 2 GH5s Record the audio separately with 2 mics going into logic At 48khz sample rate I record the videos at 25FPS (PAL) - and edit them in FCP I bounce the Audio from logic and put the MP3 file in FCP - I sync all the audio and video files together perfectly to start with and after about 20minutes / 30 minutes I get Audio drifting And have to keep REsyncing -- it makes workflow Loooong 🤪 -- I’ve done a fair few now and keep hitting stumbling blocks but I’m relentless and keep soldiering on 😁 -I was on the quest yesterday to find answers and still a little unclear ... if you can help that would be fantastic !! But anyways you have GREAT material and keep smashing out the content ! Enjoyed checking your videos out x
What if I make the Yeti my default microphone instead of recording the audio and video separately? Is the sound still not nearly as good as doing it separately and syncing? Thank you very much for the great videos!
Do I just plug the mic into my computer then start recording then take the files and put them into an editing software and all that I get that but where I plug my mic in to get the audio from that
So thats great thank u for that so say i wanna record but have a face cam in how do u do all that like how call of duty youtubers have cause i am trying to start my own channel
Hi C-Threep! Thanks for this as you are the most direct about syncing than any I've found so far. I've had bad results creating a video of me playing my acoustic guitar and singing. The video is okay, but the sound quality is so bad I'm going to pay a pro studio to record the audio. Then I must, keeping hopefully the same audio quality from the pro studio, do a lip sync video of myself lip syncing to my sound track created in the pro studio with my come camcorder video and post it on TH-cam. Is there any special requirements I should be telling the engineer at the pro studio? Will I lose sound quality once I post it to TH-cam? I'll be using a Zoom Q8 camcorder. When I have the camcorder running do I maybe on my laptop run the audio while I'm doing the video of my lip syncing because then I can line up the pro studio audio waves with the Q8's video waves, delete the video audio waves and then it is all in sync... meaning if I personally move my lips well enough and move my hands in the same chord progressions, right? I have a free version of Reaper. Could I do that in Reaper?
This is unrelated to the video, but after watching the blue snowball video,I would rather ask on a more recent video. When you record really loud vocals, does it have that buzzy distorted effect?
+L0XX Only if the computer's input levels are too high. But there's an easy way to make sure they're not too loud. I made a video about that in case you run into that issue: th-cam.com/video/kcYjb6HsYC0/w-d-xo.html
Ok Threep, Thanks, I downloaded The VideoPad Video Editor. Thanks Man, I was just looking for a additional Video Editor earlier today. Plus, I know of NCH & it is a Good Site...Man, This is a COOL lil Audio Software as well. NEXT...WHAT Software did you or do you to Record Your Voice in the first place? Audacity? Or The NCH VideoPad? or what? Thanks
Hey audio friends! Check out my new album, recorded in my home studio. It's not generic garbage, trust me. I think you'll like it: distrokid.com/hyperfollow/cthreep/karma-harm
Can you tell me how to remove subtitle during saving the video

That's actually a really smart idea, thanks a lot
You just blew my mind. It's such a simple answer to a problem that I struggled with on quite a few videos. THANK YOU!!!
+Kevin Reading You're welcome! It's pretty darn easy to do.
Thank you for making it so simple! Too many tutorials are people wanking over how much they know about a thing - this is straight forward and super easy to follow. *subscribes*
Mate, most simple easy to follow video I’ve over seen
What about when you’re cutting videos? Do you then have to cut those exact points in the audio or will it be synced?
Same issue, you can export it and make it into one file but usually this comes at a quality loss...
Great video. Really well laid out, explained nicely, and clear and simple instructions. Wasn't longer than it needed to be and I know exactly what I need to do!
Awesome! Glad I could help.
man every single time i had a question come up watching your videos, you have another video made for me. Much appreciated. Thank you
I use an editor called "open shot video editor" it has a feature were you can snap clips and audio together. I start my video first and the snal the end of the audio onto the end of the clip. It works perfectly for me!
Finally someone making a simple video. Thank you!!!!
*THANK YOU SO MUCH! I’VE JUST BOUGHT A BLUE YETI MIC TO MAKE ASMR VIDEOS AND THIS IS REALY HELPFUL FOR ME.* 😄😄
I'm so happy that I accidentally stumbled upon your channel.
Dude, you are doing really great and informative material. Thank you. Keep it up.
+Bogdan Shostak Thanks for finding me! Enjoy your stay.
Just keep doing your videos man, be consistent, they are good. I believe you will get big some time :)
+TheMrdarkflame Thanks for the kind words!
Hes got over 2,000 more subscribers since last time I viewed him, I do so pretty regularly,. And Threep Is Excellent though
Thank You So Much . This was very helpful for beginners and I couldn’t find a good video, but this one fixed that problem!
You have the best ending of any TH-cam video!
Easy to understand video. Nice and short. Thank you! I had the recording the phone and mic at the same time idea but wasn’t sure.
Thank you for teaching me how to line up my bumps!
i wonder...I WONDER WHY THIS GUY HAS SO LESS SUBS?!?!
C'MON GUYS LETS MAKE HIM FAMOUS...HE DESERVES MUCH MORE THAN WHAT HE HAS NOW.
+Rohan Chakraborty Well thank you, sir!
C-Threep No..Thank YOU :D
This is exactly what I was looking for and you made it so simple to understand! Thank you!
Wow you gave me what I have been searching for 2 weeks. Why was it so difficult and no one taught this?
What if it’s not a continuous video though… and your not filming close enough where the camera audio can pick up the sound?
Bingo!! This is the exact video I was looking for. One request, can you pls also show how a TH-cam video can be created using Samsung S7+ tablet where audio and video sync is aligned and also how the various effects (transition/text/cinematic effect etc) can be included in the final video output.
You've helped me so much with audio stuff that I'm producing an album for my school. Thanks for the awesome tutorials.
+Matt MacDonald Sweet! I'd love to hear your album when it's done.
Just found out about your channel. Gotta say it's motivating me to start recording my own music.
+Nicholas Luevano Right on, Nicholas! Welcome to the club.
How do you get your audio and video on to your computer so you can dump them into the editing program?
Did this thanks! much love!
It's insane that somebody has invented gear with a single trigger that can start video and an external audio recorder simultaneously and thereby avoid all this post production syncing business. With so many people making videos you would think this would be priority. How easy would it be to upload files that are already synced! Am I missing something?
Hell yea! This software works awesome. Thanks!
Excellent explanation sir.
Thank you so much this is wht i actually searching for.. great video 🤗
Thank you bro! That was so helpful.

C-Threep Haha that would be awesome to do. Just trying to get school done in the meantime and hopefully I can dedicate more time for that in the future.
+Random Gerardo Even just one every now and again would be rad. 60 second clips. Heck, even uploading your Instagram videos to TH-cam would be cool.
Yeah I thought about that. It's just that the mixing in those clips is very limited because of the app and I don't know what people would think about that but I'd probably do it. Also just got a new electric and I can probably start recording on reaper now. And with the help of your videos, I can probably pump out something cool.
+Random Gerardo Down the road I may make a simple tutorial on how to make a music video. It's relatable to a lot of you folks and might be helpful.
Hey thanks for this, I just had to get a separate mic and recorder for my audio. My kick ass Sony RX 100 Vi is missing one important part "Mic input". But no big deal but I had to piece together a rig

Thanks very much, appreciate this advice.
How do you adjust your mic audio to that professional sound? I’m using garage band.
What do you have to record audio
thank you so much ive always wanted to know this

Very insightful and clear video. One question though, what are you recording your audio into (i.e pro tools, zoom recorder, etc.).
Great video!!! Thank you!!
Awesome....Thank you buddy
Thanks A LOT ! easy smooth uncomplicated tutorial !
Yesss! I just wasted 3 hrs before finding this vid.
Wow this is the best tutorial..thank you

Thanks, great video!
How can I make this software work when I'm recording through my DAW studio interface with a backing track while I'm playing a musical instrument ?
I just copy the audio from the daw and paste it on the movie software. The sync it up :)
that video editing software looks just like Sony Vegas pro!
Why don’t we just connect the mic to the camera?
whats your camera?
Great job bro thanks 👍
Thank you I was struggling on how to do that
