The actual weight difference between this and f87 comp is 70kg , M2 f87 competition is 1655kg on a scale with full tank.

Well the best way is to compare the official weights. For the F87 M2 Comp it is 1650 kg (EU) and for the G87 M2 Auto it is 1800 kg (EU). EU weight= 75 kg included for Driver (68kg) and luggage (7gk). So the G87 ist 150 kg heavier. Official weight for OG F87 M2 is 1595 kg (EU)
The old M2 as well as the F20/F21 it's based on were also based on the same construction kit as the F30/F32(3/4 Series). (The new M2 gen shares more common parts with the M3/M4 than the old one did though) The whole F Gen was just a lot lighter than the G series(3/4), which is just derived from the CLAR platform, BMW introduced with the G30. So the current 3 series is just a chopped down 5 series hence it's why it is so heavy and big compared to F series 3/4.

100-200km/h in 8.5 sec is really fast. Neck and neck with a g80 M3 comp xdrive, faster than the C63 S and Alfa Giulia QV, and almost a whole second faster than the new rs3
That's not really fast. my OG M2 stage2 with N55 engine did 9sec flat to 100-200kmpu.
Fast is under 7sec

i absolutely love mine but if i had one complaint, the gearing in the six speed is veryyy long. so it actually feels slower than the ZF imo.

What a lovely boat
Personally I think the “new M2s” biggest issue is that the old one was so good.
I haven’t been lucky enough to drive either the new one or the old one, so take my thoughts with a huge grain of slat.
I don’t hate the looks of the new M2, it is just that the old one was prettier to the point of being close to visual perfection, one of the all time prettiest BMWs, with the likes of the E46 M3 (in my opinion).
The rear seat is there, but according to what have seen, heard and read, the old one had a much more usable backseat with more headroom.
I actually like the older iDrive system more than the new ones, I think the bigger screens just isn’t for me and I don’t find them esthetically pleasing while I don’t really care all that much about having a larger screen, because when I drive my cars I drive.
Again the new M2 isn’t bad and I like it, but the old one was just so good that it is “better”.
But I probably some what controversially, prefer a good modern torque converter automatics to a DCT, modern Automatics are capable of very quick shifts and more livable / less jerky at fine maneuvering at crawling speeds.

I had the honor to drive an M2 CS (previous gen, obviously) for two days and they are divine to drive. Pure bliss. I had an absolute blast and drove more than 2000km in those two days, lol. They look amazing, too, much nicer than this one in my opinion. The reason I got to drive it is because my car was in for repairs and they didn't have a loaner anymore, while my contract states they are obligated to provide one. I know the guy who owns that dealership a bit and so he let me borrow their M2 CS show car as a loaner, after which I immediately called my work and told them I wouldn't be coming in for two days of course. I've driven quite a few very fast cars, a bunch of them faster than an M2 CS, but still that one remains one of the most engaging and fun driving experiences so far, except for the 991.2 Porsche 911 GT3 and a (tuned) Lotus Elise set up for track use

I’d be interested to know which M2 you think is the one to buy and keep and which gearbox. Drove an N55 manual car and really liked it and also really liked the DCT comp

So I daily drive an X5 M50i and the G87 is a discount M4, which is exactly what I was looking for the weekends. So for me, the M2 makes perfect sense. Lease payments on the G87 are about half of the G82 at the moment.

Euro version gets to use launch control in auto mode? US spec you have be in manual mode for launch control to function.
Im still on the fence about this. I feel its a good platform for tuning especially bodykits. I like the way the front and side profiles look, especially that square bumper, and rear arches. However, the rear is just terrible. I cant stand the tailights or those squared off edges in the rear bumper. However, the largest problem is the weight. I cant get around this small Car weighing more then a v10 M5. I just cant imagine it driving as good as the old m2 or 1m with that weight. The largest problem, you can get a m2cs with under 5k kilometers for the price of a well speccd m2, and the old m2cs is 10x the Car. Same power, 200kg less, and gorgeous in my opinion.

The F87 M2 comp was seen as a improved smaller version of the F82 as well. They were also around the same weight as well. Same concept

I hope BMW pays a little more for a custom display fitted inside a binnacle. I realize though that this single display kind of tossed up on the dash saves them a ton of money.

7:30 these seats are optional, as far as I remember from configuring one. You can opt for even more extreme seats.

Went to dealer yesterday to see if it fits me. Light blue specimen was parked next to black M3 and M4, did not even look at those, only had eyes for the M2. Was lucky to get a test drive and oh man, I never owned a performance car so, easy to impress I guess, but wow so good. Test car had the bucket seats which is not for my 6ft 9" bone structure. Also sat in the normal seats and that's also tight but hey I'm also like all the sinners reading this, also have needs, no pain no gain. Love the M5 but G87 M2 is best buy out there, can buy one and something for the wife for the price of an M5, and everone is happy
I ordered the seats on mine, dummy loaded. I believe the carbon is delaying cars as I just went back to order received from being scheduled

I would go for a manual M4, prefer the exterior styling, doorcards on the M2 look cheap and you miss out on the Full Merino leather. You can also get the buckets with some great colours. Finally the hood is so high and flat in the M2, when I testdrove it, it felt like I was driving a tank
Carbon ceramic brakes would be too expensive for M2 buyer...probably the Competition will add them as option and CS will have them as standard 🤷
Be careful when going that fast through a blind corner at 17:00.

I think the triangles are bmws design language. Almost like lamborghini and their hexagons. I mean if you look at all concept bmws they all showcase triangles for some reason

Its obviously one of the best allaround cars right now, but the weight and the looks are a bit of a problem.
Objectively the G87 is the better car compared to the F87.
But I had more fun driving the F87. It is what it is.
Driven both G87 and G42, I think the M240i without xDrive is more fun and a better daily. It has less traction which means you have a way tailhappier rear end. But it can be very quiet without any drama and an acceptable fuel economy. The M2 is a head turner, you never fly under the radar. It is too perfect for everyday fun due to the strong and grippy M4 rear internals, but therefore a lot more suitable for proper track action. Both can be equally comfortable though in my opinion. So my choice would be: Fun = G42 M240i
Performance = G87

17:57 Damn Dutch people driving 100km/h everywhere they go, including abroad, lol. I see it in Belgium constantly as well. Yes, I know, it's completely legal. It interrupts the flow of the traffic so much if the official speed in the country is higher than that though. I don't know why they have all of the sudden decided to drive at that speed abroad, too. I'm Dutch as well but I drive in Belgium and Germany frequently and it's really annoying. If in Belgium or Germany you see an entire row of cars one behind the other driving 100km/h, you can bet money on it that there will be a Dutch car driving in front holding everyone up because our new (way too slow) maximum speed of 100km/h in the Netherlands has apparently now become the maximum speed in all countries or something

60kg and 86hp difference. You can even safe much weight on the wheels on the m2. The m2 is the much better deal.
