@pistonburner6448 And just what was it Ian Fleming made James Bond to be? Right from the start the literary character was always consistently portrayed as a morose, pouty, self-absorbed, hate-filled, misanthropic, misogynistic, chain-smoking drunk motivated primarily by an overwhelming scorn for everything he personally considered un-British, un-white, un-manly, and un-Bond. And right from the start the movies ALWAYS made Bond something else, insofar as turning him into a character that paying moviegoers wouldn't find completely repellent.

I particularly remember seeing 007 SKYFALL in the movie theater years ago, I won't forget how I got into tears upon seeing Judi Dench final moment in the 007 franchise.
Putting the James Bond movie franchise aside for a second…SKYFALL is a brilliant movie in isolation and in itself it highlights the true essence of great movie making. To think it was nominated for 5 Oscar’s (never before matched by another OO7 movie) and won 2 of them is testament to Daniel Craig, his fellow actors and the team behind the set. An incredible movie and most definitely in my top 20 movies of all time (I’m a movie geek). Faultless performances and a great plot and twist. I cried when M passed because not only is Dame Judi Dench exquisite in the role but Craig shows Bond’s true feelings for M because as an orphan, she was in fact the motherly figure he never had. If you also note that Kincaid calls M - Emma…is this deliberate or an old man presuming that M stands for “Em” as in Emma? Albert Finney and Ralph Fiennes are masterful and Javier Bardem - what a villain!!! Genius but not as scary as his role in No Country For Old Men. The best Bond movie - eclipses both Goldfinger and Casino Royale in my opinion. Spectre (for me) isn’t far behind it although underrated by quite the crowd. I look forward to your reaction and the stunts are truly amazing. The Bourne and MI movies brought us a ruthless Bond and Craig will be remembered for a great body of work as OO7!
My personal favorite of the Craig era. Such a great way to celebrate the (at the time) 50th anniversary of the franchise. Deconstructs everything that we find familiar with the character/franchise, and then build him back up to get him back to work for another 50 years of movies. Love it.
I have a weird view on this movie. This is a really good movie that is a really bad James Bond film. This is not a James Bond film. It is an M film. Any James Bond film where Bond is not the most important role in the film is a bad James Bond film. If Bond had nothing to do with this film and it was just any old secret agent film it would be better.
There's a lot to love about this one even if you're not the biggest Bond fan: fantastic acting, beautiful locations, competent directing, cinematography from Roger Deakins, good fight choreography, the theme by Adele...all good stuff. Sam Mendes is definitely an arty kind of director...when I first heard he was at the helm I wondered if he could pull it off in an action movie. But I think he did passed the test with flying colors. Probably shouldn't be surprised. He is one of the greatest directors of all time. And that Adele theme was on my ipod for a loooong time.
From Goldeneye to Skyfall, what a legacy. Dame Judi Dench never disappointed and never has in any role I've seen. Great reaction, great movie! thank you for the video!
36:15 His parents died in a climbing accident. It was stated in GoldenEye and was adapted directly from the books. So although it isn’t stated here, I think the backstory is the same.
33:26 is one of my favorite moments in all of film. A fitting poem to have while an aging Bond wills himself to keep going even when so many doubt his decaying speed, strength, and youth.
Skyfall is one of the best Bond movies in the whole franchise. With Connery it was Thunderball and From Russia With Love. Moore it was The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only. Dalton The Living Daylights. Brosnan Goldeneye and with Craig it is Casino Royale and this movie.
Nope, the modern movies are no longer true to Ian Fleming's stories. No naked girls in the opening either. Well, at least still at this point they were high quality films made to be good movies, but then the last one especially was just political extremist hate in a film disguise, just pure cultural appropriation done deliberately to offend a whole culture and race and sex, not to mention everything Ian Fleming created Bond to be.
@@FRACTUREDVISIONmusic I love live and let die but most Bond crickets don't. I think they felt he was too old and the film maybe too long? IDK, it had some great villains and a fun plot.
Did you recognise Q's voice? He's also Paddington Bear. The Tennyson recital, the old Bond theme striking up when the Aston Martin is revealed, Moneypenny's introduction and new M asking bond if he's ready to get to work are great touches.
Just when you think that one of them couldn't possibly be more charming, the other one disproves the theory. You are both disarmingly sweet. Thanks for brightening my day.
One of the best Bond movies on par with Casino Royale. Also has an outstanding villain entrance. They caught thunder in a bottle with this one. Everything gels!!!
This was the first Bond movie to make me genuinely Sad, the story was perfect and Daniel smashed it. One of my favourites ❤ also Javier Bardem was an excellent Villain

23:00 I could've heard a pin drop in this scene when I saw it on in the cinema. What an entrance. I agree with Roger Ebert's evaluation: "Best Bond in years"
This is my favorite Daniel Craig Bond movie. It's a bit sentimental to me because it came out right after my old dog passed away and I was a mess so I went to this to get my mind off everything. It was 2+ hours of distraction that I was so very grateful for. I love the villain in this, the call backs, the fact that they gave Judy Dench a bigger role, the cinematography, the editing, etc. It's just a great Bond movie and I can watch it any time and just be at peace.
This is the first and only entry in the franchise to gross at least $1 billion worldwide. Sean Connery was the original choice to play Kincaid the groundskeeper. The title song for this and Live and Let Die won the Academy award for Best Original Song. The lizards shown in this are Komodo Dragons, which have venomous saliva and are the largest lizards alive
And as always, the stunt team in Bond movies is doing a fantastic job. Say what you will about Bond movies, but they all had some of the best stunts actors in that era.
This one is my favorite of the Daniel Craig movies. There are some epic visuals that are just beautiful to watch in this show, and with the addition of Javier Bardem, it is just amazing.
Second best Bond movie overall after Casino Royale for me. The title song gave me goosebumps in the cinema. Bardem is such a great villain, so soft-spoken; the exact opposite of the usual shouty bad guy.
Fun Fact: As a loving tribute, the house they used for 007 meeting with M after the MI6 bombing was the former house of John Barry, the late composer of eleven James Bond films (before the Craig-era timeline).
I didn't know that! Was it the one where he and Michael Caine shared? Watching these movies with these two kids is fun. I haven't seen the Craig era of movies as much as I have the Sean or Roger movies. This is sorta my second viewing of the movie.
@@WannaBeatle-Paul_McMichael sorry don't know about that, but i also just learned that the interior of M's home was just a film set, only the exterior was Barry's house.
That whole sequence where she is reading the Tennyson poem while James is pouring every ounce of his willpower in pursuit through the city ... that was darn near cinematic perfection. One of my absolute favorite sequences in film. Great video! :)
Javier Bardem has played two of the best villains so far in the 21st Century of films, here in Skyfall (2012) and In Country for Old Men (2007), as well as another good one in the movie The Counselor (2013).
Growing up watching Bond with my dad and able to go to tgis movie at the cinema after him clearing kimo and seeing the movie go full circle with M, Moneypenny and just seeing it able to close every knot were so amazing. I got tears in my eyes from the ending and then looking at my father who were in full smilet and tears in his eyes as well just made everything to me. My father is still kicking it today as the strongest man and superhero in my life and the whole world.
One of my fondest memories of my dad was going to see a James Bond movie together. He used to laugh so much at the jokes and innuendos. He was the loudest in the cinema. Gone over 30 years now but that memory still makes me smile.
Javier Bardem is my favorite Bond villain. And I think this one is my favorite Bond film. Great villain, great visuals, great fights, great character arcs.
The Shanghai fight cinematography is top notch. Same with the entrance to to casino in Macau. Probably my all time favorite Bond film, but I'm not much of a Bond film fan so take it for what it's worth.
Sam Mendes and Roger Deakins have always created some of the best movie imagery of all time. Definitely a nice touch for movie fans that aren't that into the Bond thing.
the whole cast is class in this episode - Ralph Fiennes's brilliant casting. when they took the laptop in and plugged it in was the silliest thing in this film no on would ever ever do that if they were serious about intell
Yeah, Q the 'security' guy REALLY messed up. Entry-level secretarial staff at companies get taught about IT security practices, so the idea that someone working for an intelligence service would do something so risky is insane.
One of my favorite Judy Dench films (after the Bonds) is Shakespeare in Love. It isn't a huge role, but a significant one, and you get that great Judy Dench sass as Queen Elizabeth I. You also get the new M's (Ralph Fiennes) brother, Joseph Fiennes, as William Shakespeare. I know not everyone loved that movie as much as I did, but, as someone who studied medieval and rennaisance literature (particularly Elizabethean theater) I found it particularly enjoyable. Skyfall was also Javier Bardem's creepiest role since No Country for Old Men (another must see movie).
I really liked how this film felt like modern Bond going back to the Connery roots, the whole end sequence in M's office felt like we were right back to where we'd start with Bond going into a new Dr. No all over.
I cannot even describe how amazing you two are. Absolutely the best channel. After a stressful day, turning on one of your videos makes me so happy. I live in Ottawa Ontario Canada and watching you girls watching movies totally puts me heaven. Please keep up the great work.
This one and Casino Royale are my favorites of the Craig era. Javier Bardem is AMAZING as Silva. Hell, he's amazing in everything he's in! Love watching you guys, the best reactors on TH-cam. 👍
3:50 The double-cylinder on his gun is a drum magazine, which holds considerably more ammunition than a normal (box) magazine, and is the reason the guy didn't run out of bullets in two seconds while firing on full auto. Speaking of which... 5:00 Automatic firearm sound effects brought to you by Carli B. 😂 36:20 Bond's parents died in a climbing accident; Alec Trevelyan (006) mentioned it in _Goldeneye_ .
Casino Royale will always be my favorite Craig Bond... but this is the best one. Skyfall is just so damn good. Javier Bardem does an amazing villain. Just as talented as James is. They play off each other at their first meeting so very well. The whole "what makes you think it's my first time" line is so good. Dench getting a great last fight as a send off. I love the twist with Ralph Fiennes character. You kind of don't like him at first but he proves himself a really good guy by the end.
Thanks for the excellent reaction - loving how into the Bond films you've both become! In spite of the pretty Scottish scenery, all the action shots of the old house at the end of the film took place on military land just outside the village in Surrey where I live. They built a complete replica house and were filming there for ages - the area is still regularly used for actions scenes in many movies.
Great commentary! Since I moved to the Scottish Highlands I have driven down Glen Etive many times, although not in an Aston Martin DB5! It's a beautiful, surreal, unearthly place, inspiring and uplifting any time of year. Great setting for the finale of one of the best of the best!
Highest-grossing Bond film of all time. Released during the 50th Anniversary. Bond remembering his tragic past, rebuilding his body & soul, recharging his character to being the best in the game. Judi Dench as the only female 'M'. Playing the role within 17 years and 2 eras. Tied with the late Bernard Lee, who played the role first in these films. Saw this in IMAX and i was blown away. Bardem as the villain, Introducing franchise favorites (Q & Moneypenny) finally, getting a new M and the theme by Adele is so good. A definite bounce-back from the previous film. Showing us once again in the spy genre why no does it better than 007.
47:39 it also comes full circle with the setting because Mallory‘s office as M is the same office that the classic Ms had at Whitehall in the old Bond movies.
My dad and I saw every Bond film together since the second Roger Moore film in 1974. Sadly I wish I knew that Skyfall would be our last together. But I'm glad we got to see the best one ever. I'm also glad he didn't see the last two. Ugh.
Wonderful memories with your dad. I'm almost wish I hadn't see the last two. I'm surprised the girls haven't figured out Bond dies. For everyone else, it was "about time" before the scripts got any worse.
Yes Dame Judy! She's from my Home city of York! I met/ served her and her grandson at our sports store in York when I was 16. She's a brilliant/ really funny person and a phenomenal actor! What a "Bond" movie... I've always loved her send off from the franchise in this film!
Hey ladies! This is one of my favorite DC Bond films, even though there were a few aspects I wasn't keen on. Casino Royale is my favorite ahead of this. Even before I went to see it opening weekend, I had read about a month or so before that it was Judy Dench's last time as M, due to a health thing and she felt it was time to move on. She'd been M since Brosnan had been Bond. I didn't know that she'd be killed off, just thought maybe injured enough to decide to retire. Anyways, not sure if you realized it but this movie had 2 alums from Harry Potter with Ralph Fiennes and the black haired actress who was questioning M on the panel. She had played Draco Malfoy's Mother. And hate to say, she passed from Cancer, I think last year. And BTW....they weren't saying Mum, but Ma'am, which with the Brit accent sounds like- Mum. 😊
Speaking of callbacks, I loved that Skyfall, where Bond was from, was in Scotland. The original author, Ian Fleming, gave Bond a Scottish background after seeing Sean Connery as Bond.
I remember hearing around the time of this filming that Kincaid was originally suppose to be played by Sean Connery, but they couldn’t come to a workable contract. This film was so amazingly good and beautifully shot.
This movie was so great. The way they introduced back Q and Moneypenny, the transaction of M from Dame Judi Dench to Ralph Fiennes, the strong viliian clear motive, and the song, definite one of the best, not just Bond movie but all movies, ever
There's a theory that some original plot elements ended up on the production room floor, one being that the villain was M's son (adopted or otherwise) but she had had to give him up when working in Hong Kong. That odd phrase on her computer "Think on your sins" is an anagram of "your son isn't in HK".
Best Daniel Craig Bond film, although Casino Royale is a very close 2nd, and the very best Intro - it basically shows a good looking synopses of the entire film. Excellent. Now you should watch No Country for Old Men - Javier Bardem showcase, with Tommy Lee Jones.
The garage where Bond has the Aston Martin DB6 stored is in a town called Deptford on the outskirts of London (near Greenwich). I used to walk past it all the time and instantly recognized it in the movie.
Fabulous reaction, really was there with you watching. The movie of course is stunning and one of the best in the franchise. Can you pass the bloody popcorn next time!

Love it.
Guess you haven't been subjected to the movie after next then...
They'll ruin the next bond like they did with no time to die
Well, it was all great, except for the side characters, especially Severine....
@@zybch I have. And I liked it. Of the Craig era, I place it right in the middle. Not as good as Skyfall or Casino…. better than Quantum and Spectre.
I'm not a Bond fan of any kind, but I did greatly enjoy this movie.
@@CorwynCelesil Yeah it's good. Just a really well made film on it's own. Sam Mendes makes quality movies.
This is my favorite of Daniel's run as Bond. Loved the interaction between Him and Dame Judy Dench as M here. And the Music!❤
33:26 is one of my favorite moments in all of film. A fitting poem to have while an aging Bond wills himself to keep going even when so many doubt his decaying speed, strength, and youth.
Every bit of this.
'No Live and Let Die' for Moore? An utterly classic film easily in the Best of Bond club.
@@putinscat1208 Actually, I liked this one too. To be honest Dalton was the first to introduce the gritty Bond before Craig.
@@pistonburner6448 Does it hurt to be on the receiving end for once? Aww.
Did you recognise Q's voice? He's also Paddington Bear. The Tennyson recital, the old Bond theme striking up when the Aston Martin is revealed, Moneypenny's introduction and new M asking bond if he's ready to get to work are great touches.
One of my favorite Bond movies. So cool, exciting and tragic.
The tunnel duck might be my all time favorite Cassie and Carly jump scare move. 🤣🤣🤣
Just when you think that one of them couldn't possibly be more charming, the other one disproves the theory.
You are both disarmingly sweet.
Thanks for brightening my day.
One of the best Bond movies on par with Casino Royale. Also has an outstanding villain entrance. They caught thunder
in a bottle with this one. Everything gels!!!
This was the first Bond movie to make me genuinely Sad, the story was perfect and Daniel smashed it. One of my favourites ❤ also Javier Bardem was an excellent Villain
What’s amazing is that Skyfall was the (1st) 007 movie to win best song at the Oscars.
It's a great tune and no mistake but dame Shirley Bassey was robbed, if you ask me . . .
@@vincelang3779 definitely. Other 007 songs that were snubbed are For your eyes only, a view to a kill, living daylights, licence to kill, the world is not enough, you know my name & another way to die.
That's hard to believe. There's some amazing Bond themes.
@@jamesrippy1161 Just heard License to Kill for the first time when Cassie did her reaction. Great song.
@@jamesrippy1161 . 4 Bond film songs were nominated. "For Your Eyes Only" lost to the theme from "Arthur". "Nobody Does It Better" lost to "You Light Up My Life". Live and Let Die lost to "The Way We Were". "The look Of Love" from the (non-Eon) Casino Royale (1967) lost to "Talk To The Animals" from the original Doctor Dolittle.
23:00 I could've heard a pin drop in this scene when I saw it on in the cinema. What an entrance. I agree with Roger Ebert's evaluation: "Best Bond in years"
Always fun watching movies with you two! Congratulations on your MI premier, sounds like a magical night.
@15blackshirt, So did Spectre's song, very unfortunately.
And as always, the stunt team in Bond movies is doing a fantastic job. Say what you will about Bond movies, but they all had some of the best stunts actors in that era.
Skyfall made history as the first song from a 007 film to win an Academy Award for Best Song.
I loved bringing back the Aston Martin, complete with ejection seat. They had a completely logical reason to use it in the film, which makes it work.
Fun Fact:
As a loving tribute, the house they used for 007 meeting with M after the MI6 bombing was the former house of John Barry, the late composer of eleven James Bond films (before the Craig-era timeline).
I didn't know that! Was it the one where he and Michael Caine shared?
Watching these movies with these two kids is fun. I haven't seen the Craig era of movies as much as I have the Sean or Roger movies. This is sorta my second viewing of the movie.
@@WannaBeatle-Paul_McMichael
sorry don't know about that, but i also just learned that the interior of M's home was just a film set, only the exterior was Barry's house.
@@JOSH-lw2jv I would have assumed the interior was a set - probably the OO7 soundstage at Pinewood. It's difficult to tell with the lack of lighting.
Silva is top tier Bond villain, Bardem played it perfectly.
The nod to Connery/Goldfinger DB5 at 35:00 is amazing!!!!! Love that part
This was the 50th anniversary of the first film.
There was a time when they seriously discussed casting Sean Connery as Kincaide.
"Some men are coming here to kill us...... we're gonna kill them first!"
Definitely in the top 5 Bond films of all time!
I love your reactions so much you bring such fun to them. Long may they continue. Much love from England.
the whole cast is class in this episode - Ralph Fiennes's brilliant casting. when they took the laptop in and plugged it in was the silliest thing in this film no on would ever ever do that if they were serious about intell
Yeah, Q the 'security' guy REALLY messed up. Entry-level secretarial staff at companies get taught about IT security practices, so the idea that someone working for an intelligence service would do something so risky is insane.
I love that the where so into it, they both dodged in the same direction at the same time 41:48😂
This is a fantastic film. Both an excellent Bond film, and a deconstruction of what Bond is. A true masterpiece. Best title song ever❤
For me best Bond Title song will always be 'Live and Let Die', but Wings in the 70s were favourites for everyone.
Certainly my favorite Craig era James Bond film and just might be my overall favorite in the franchise.
My favourite Craig-Bond! And a great exit for Judi Dench. Great theme song as well. I was very happy as I left the theatre.😊
When Silva takes the knife in the back at the end, and she says "the good old-fashioned way" 😳omg 😂the best I've seen on the internet this year!
As someone who saw Adele for two shows two weekends ago, I can assure you her performance of Skyfall is epic in person!
36:20 Bond's parents died in a climbing accident; Alec Trevelyan (006) mentioned it in _Goldeneye_ .
Javier Bardem is SOOOO good at being enigmatic and bizarre.
Source: No Country for Old Men, wherein viewers aren’t sure if he’s a literal villain, a symbolic villain, an alien, or imaginary.
Probably because he's enigmatic and bizarre.
I say that these two lovelies should be in the next Bond film! Cassie and Carly - Bond girls! 😊
You two crack me up with the ducking and dodging. Bond has an intriguing backstory. This was one of the better Craig movies.
Wonderful reaction. Many thanks. You two have great chemistry.
I’m not even finished with the video yet, and this is by far the most enjoyable commentary between the two of you that I have heard.
the red pagoda boat scene is always my favorite in this film. love this film so much! can't wait for you two to watch his newest 007 film!!
This is the one bond film where Craig feels like bond. My favourite one of his by far.
I was in Istanbul when the opening car chase was being filmed. Pretty cool thing to witness!
This was def my fave reaction from y’all. Made me smile & laugh
Great commentary! Since I moved to the Scottish Highlands I have driven down Glen Etive many times, although not in an Aston Martin DB5! It's a beautiful, surreal, unearthly place, inspiring and uplifting any time of year. Great setting for the finale of one of the best of the best!
One of the absolute best Bond films. Love it.
The scene where M is reading the poem and they show the parallels to Bond is a chefs kiss masterpiece. The whole movie is amazing.
Highest-grossing Bond film of all time.
Released during the 50th Anniversary.
Bond remembering his tragic past, rebuilding his body & soul,
recharging his character to being the best in the game.
Judi Dench as the only female 'M'.
Playing the role within 17 years and 2 eras.
Tied with the late Bernard Lee, who played the role first in these films.
Saw this in IMAX and i was blown away.
Bardem as the villain, Introducing franchise favorites (Q & Moneypenny) finally,
getting a new M and the theme by Adele is so good.
A definite bounce-back from the previous film.
Showing us once again in the spy genre why no does it better than 007.
It's a shame that they dropped the ball with the next film...
@randywhite3947 on your list. Not mine.
Absolutely loved Skyfall! And your reaction. And now I’m Sooo looking forward to your reaction to the last 2!
Love that! SKYFALL is my fav of the saga. Almost perfect, pure 007 action.
-"How is the arm Sr?"
21:30 I believe it's a Komodo Dragon
Yep, and it's a komono dragon if it's wearing sunglasses :)
Such a classic. Almost as good as Casino Royale.
“If you’re looking for an exploding pen we don’t really do that anymore.” 😂
This is my favorite Bond movie that I have watched. It was perfect.
I just can't get over the Home Alone style ending fight.
Fabulous reaction, really was there with you watching. The movie of course is stunning and one of the best in the franchise.
Can you pass the bloody popcorn next time!
Javier Bardem is one of the best Bond villians ever.
I love how you both dodge to the side at 41:50 Adore your channel . Getting caught up on all your reactions. Fabulous all the way. 👌👏💖
