If you like seeing people and shopping in different styles then China is the place, but if you like hiding inside your basement, not seeing people and shopping at inflated prices, then Canada is the place. Actually many things at Dollar Rama are cheaper than in China, though those things are made in China. Dollar Rama is the best place for cheapie shopping in Canada. Another good thing about buying from Dollar Rama is items can be returned or refunded if you don't like them, but mostly can't do that in China. Somehow Dollar Rama can get things so cheap from China that even the local retailers in China can't get so cheap or that they are inflating the prices. No wonder Dollar Rama is so successful.

@@sunkissedbucketlistthe best shopping mall brand in china is SKP group. it is the very top of the line shopping mall in the world. SKP group only has 3 malls in Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu( the one with bamboo fountain).
SKP Beijing shopping mall has been the world number 1 in sales revenue for years. "SKP-S" building has some futuristic vendors & strange decoration
as for the best mall in China, it depends on what you want to do in a mall. there are many types of shopping malls in china nowadays. some are for selling luxury brand products. some malls are for average middle malls shopping. some malls are for art works. some shopping malls are for children entertainment which has skating ring, water park, indoor ski slope, indoor surfing, indoor amusement park, pets cafe......
in Beijing, i think Parkview Green mall(a mall for useless artistic stuffs) & Beijing Small mall are interesting malls. and Taikoo-li in Sanlitun district is the most famous young fashion street in beijing. u can search them on youtube.

Xian is definitely the place you will see a lot of Chinese people wear traditional dresses especially at this famous place called Grand Tang Mall, a must visit tourist spot at night if you are in Xian (but it could be super crowded this time of the year). I"d also suggest Guilin Yangshuo (you two can ride an electric scooter around town for a lot of fun) and Yunnan in the south, both are very famous and popular tourist cities/towns in southern China and they will give you a completely different feel than the rest of the country, just check the weather to make sure it's not rainning before going there.

Good choice for the dim sum place ! Chua Lam is a famous food commentator in China ( a bit like Gordon Ramsay in the UK), the dim sum in that restaurant is authentic. Btw the “fish” in the coconut soup is actually dark chicken, their meat is more tender than regular chicken so can be a bit confusing😂.

hopefully you were able to check out more of the cultural areas like the one you were in tianjin. in beijing, there are lots of hutongs which are basically neighborhood blocks. there are some that are very commercial but most are literally residential blocks with local bars, cafes, and restaurants mixed in. you can look these up to get an idea so when you travel to another city in china, you can look for similar places to explore. some beijing hutongs: nanluoguxiang, wudaoying, beixin, bada, beihai lake hutong. some of the more local ones have really authentic and cheaper food compared to ones in western style malls.

As a Beijinger, the best high end mall in Beijing is SKP also know as "新光天地“, it's been outpacing Harrods in sales since the pandemic. There's a newly opened SKP-S, which is more fun and younger version right cross the street. Other honorable mention: China world mall in Guomao and Parkview Green in Fangcaodi. Most of the foreign brands from high end to fast fashion have a higher price tag in China due to multiple reasons (duty, branding strategy, etc.) Btw, "蔡澜" Chua Lam is a famous food critic from Singapore and living in Hongkong. Beijjng SKP: High-end mall famous for expensive brands. Lots of nice cars in underground parking lot.
San Li Tun Tai Koo Li: An open area with different stores rather than one large building. It's the best shopping center in my opinion.
Yi Ti Gang: Simallir to He Sheng Hui but less people, good place for food.

In most areas of Beijing, cars are actually not allowed to honk their horns. Only when the car in front does something dangerous, the car behind will honk to remind you. For example, the silver-white car at the back in the video just now braked and stopped suddenly when the car in front was turning and almost hit it. That's why the horn was honked at this sudden stop.

As a local resident living in Beijing, i recommend the following malls
‘China world mall’ and ‘SKP’ these two malls are the most fancy ones, included many luxury brands. They are both in chaoyang district near the CBD area.
Btw For the most popular malls i recommend 北京荟聚(Livat)and合生汇(Hopson One)these two malls are always busy during weekends and weekday nights.
Also looking forward for you guys to try KFC and McDonald’s in China,we offer some special menu here.
Wish you have a pleasant journey ❤❤

Regarding KFC, Chinese people treat it as fast food, which saves time. But the Chinese also attach great importance to the health of the diet, so many people over 30 years old rarely eat fried food like KFC.
Of course, in order to change the impression of fried food, KFC and McDonald's have added a lot of local foods, such as porridge in breakfast.

From my own experience travelling to different places incl China and comparing the prices, international brands have very little price differentials. While China is known more for producing really cheap but not very durable stuff (which is ok if it's that cheap and can at least last a year or so), it's less known for producing the high end stuff which is of high quality (but definitely not cheap!).
