Wishing everyone a heartfelt Chinese New Year 😍 filled with profound meaning, marking the chance for new beginnings and the assurance of abundant blessings in the upcoming year 🥰
You are correct about alot of things I have been there and had tea with some of the residents. There are many famalies still living there. Inside some of the doors are a courtyard then around this are the famalies residents, it is a fascinating history behind the hutongs. Love your sense of adventure and outlook on the world as a whole, keep up with your great videos, Happy chinese new year of the dragon.
"Wow, what an incredible adventure in Beijing for Chinese New Year! 🎉 From dragons to dumplings, Sun Kissed Bucket List takes us on a journey through the vibrant celebrations and rich culture of this festive occasion. It's amazing to witness the energy and excitement in the ancient hutongs of Beijing, where every alley holds a delightful surprise. Thank you for sharing this unforgettable experience with us! 🏮 #ChineseNewYear #BeijingAdventure #CulturalCelebration"
Happy Chinese New Year from Shan Xi province, I have been waiting for this moment for 10 years since I moved to UK, I am so happy, may year of dragon bring us lots of happiness and prosperity 🧧
You are very brave. Your video is completely different from that reported in the west. BEIJING is different from what I expected. It is very developed. The people are very friendly. Food is abundant.
@@sunkissedbucketlistHaha , u have to decide Shanghai or Beijing. There is a disdainful chain among expats in China. Shanghai expats think Beijing expats are way to un-fashion. Beijing expats think Shanghai expats are still living in western style life not genuine China.😂
Yes, the Beijing Hutongs are a beautiful historic place. I had friends who lived in a Hutong and it was cold in the winter, hot in the summer and the toilet was outside. The government purchased the property and now they have a modern flat.
Happy Chinese New Year. You don't have to be a Chinese to celebrate it. Enjoy your trip to China. I wish you success in your endeavour. From Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
almost first, I'll try harder lol :D nice you finally made it to a hutong to see how people lived for hundreds of years. haven't watched your video yet but seems you went to a more commercial one but the concept is the same. slowly but surely hutongs are being replaced by high rises and shopping malls so it's good to catch a bit of history before it's all gone. post viewing edit lol ;) - pretty much everything you tried are kind of novelty items and a bit pricey. if you go on the side streets, you'd find places where locals go. even in the alleys where it looks like a residential section, there might be a cafe or restaurant tucked in there. if it's open, you can go through it without worries since it can lead to more alleys or courtyards. people's houses will have their doors closed to the street/alley.
So glad you guys are om Beijing, as someone living here, I would definitely like to take you guys to eat some local food here as i enjoy all China videos you made
10:24 These are Beijing traditional desert/pastry call “Lu Da gon”, literally translated to something like “donkey rolling on the ground”. This is made of a large sheet of sticky rice, spread some red bean paste (the traditional ingredient) or other sweet fillings, then rolled them up and cut into pieces. Since they are made of sticky rice they are quite filling. I saw many different stores selling the same thing in this video. If you are still in Beijing you should give it a try.
Haha, yes, it is churro, and they write it there "吉士果", which is literally translated from churro with very similar pronunciation in Chinese. So happy to see you visiting Beijing! It has so much to offer! Bon voyage!~
In fact, South luogu lane has been commercialized in recent years, and it has lost the appearance of the traditional hutongs in Beijing. I recommend you can visit some parks in Beijing such as zhongshan park, beihai park and jingshan park during the chinese new year.
they looked absolutely shattered! I appreciate the enthusiasm and dedication and i understand if youre trying to try and cram in as much as possible!! But Chinas a never ending well! and it can be overwhelming!! in a good way you could stay there for 50 yrs and still not discover everything! Well its impossible to discover everything
1:5025:16 They are 梨汤 pear soup. Mixed fruit mainly pear no tea. Very sweet and thick taste. Supposedly good for your throat and lung but no scientific evidence just a traditional habbit.
You could visit the Longtanhu Chinese new year market if you still around in Beijing , you could see lots of traditional performances and foods there etc..
In Chinese culture, it is not common to ask someone "How are you?" or "How are you doing? (你好吗?ni hao ma),we simply wish them good (你好 ni hao),which is sufficient. Chinese people are reserved, even today in this modern era, you don't really expect to get a reply with "I'm not so good" (我不是很好), regardless if this is really the case of their current wellbeing. This is really different from the western culture that many westerners are not aware of. 😄
Nice. You guys should get some warm weather after this, there is an island called Hainan Sanya, beachy vacation island of China. Perfect weather right now❤
If you have the time and know how to get to those places, each province in China has many beautiful natural landscapes and quaint little towns to explore, instead of the ubiquitous food streets and cities. These days, apart from long distance buses, coaches, high speed rail also bring you faster and closer to those landscapes.
Love your videos here! I would definitely recommend you guys to try the Chinese hotpots!! Haidilao will be a decent place for those. (perhaps don't choose the spicy soup bases if you are not a huge fan of super hot food :-)
Speaking of No.1 restaurant, the No.1 dish is Spicy Sichuan Hot Pot or Chongqing Huoguo 重庆火锅。It ranks first in Colour, Aroma, and Taste. Have you tried it?
@@sunkissedbucketlist Please go try Haidilao 海底捞 spicy Sichuan hot pot. They are now a world famous restaurant with international branches. The special services in the lobby will surprise you. They might do your fingernails while you wait. No kidding. You will have fun. There are like a couple dozen branches in Beijing. Ask your hotel staffs or people on the streets to find one. Sichuan province is famous for its panda 🐼 and red chilli 🌶. Actually you can visit the Beijing Zoo to see pandas along with the good size aquarium next to it.
It’s not even midday on Chinese new years in China yet and you guys already have a video up! You are such troopers, I love it! And yes some of the houses have signs saying private residence :) Edit: also want to add that there are a cluster of Hutongs with a lot of unique bars too.

Happy Chinese New Year, from Malaysia. The Peking Roast duck. 😋😋😋. Duck skin was so crunchy. Origin from Beijing. Peking is the old name of Beijing.
Happy Chinese new year to you too 🥰🤩
The old houses on both sides of this street are very expensive. At their most expensive, they used to cost 50,000-60,000 US dollars per square meter.

Dumpling with soup inside is called Xiao Long Bao
And it goes well with a little black vinegar and ginger.
both exist in fact. Xiao Long Bao or Guan Tang Bao or whatever with Bao at the end belong generally to the category of steamed buns.
That one looks more like Da Long Bao.
Was so good 🥰🥰
Your man said the nice dress looks pretty on you and he walk away. LOL! Buy your lovely lady the dress.
😂😂
They don't visit cold countries so it would be a waste.
It’s the thought that counts my friend haha 😂 this is the first time we’ve been somewhere cold in almost 3 years, it makes no sense 😂
