As a unbiased American, to me, this is freedom! Freedom to go about without worry of being shot, harassed, or robbed. Enjoying life, with great public transportation, not bothered by traffic jams. Great food and friendly people! Love China. Just do not impose your ways upon the Chinese thinking you are smarter and know what is good for them.

Really true! The people are all quite nice and curious about foreigners and want to learn more about them. They don’t have too much info about the outside world for which many of them never left china. It’s really the politics that divides residents from one country and another. But once visiting it, we see people are all pretty nice when you interact with them

The packaging of food is now in line with the international standard, which was not the case several years ago. China is evolving fast. So much red there is due to the colour code for subway line 1 is red. I enjoy your sophisticated British accent.

Another is 前门大街/Qianmen Ave. Many main store of time-honored restaurant are set there, for example Peking Duck, main store of 便宜坊/BianYiFang and 全聚德/QuanJuDe are both there. I also recommend to have a try to 爆肚(i dont know how to translate :) ), its main material is cow's stomach and i think its taste can be accepted by most people.

Beijingers - Beijing ren (Beijing Person). Keep warm guys, it's -2 here in Shanghai and Beijing is usually much colder than here. If you like to eat Lamb, I'd recommend XiBei restaurant it's from Inner Mongolia, great food and excellent service and the kitchen is open so you can watch them making the food.

the dish you tried in the video is called roujiamo(肉夹馍) it is the delicious food from xian(shanxi province, which is famous for noodles). As Beijing is one of the biggest cities in china, it has food from other parts of china and abroad. Personal, i recommend you to have a try of lamb hotpot(东来顺,donglaishun) and Beijing duck(sijiminfu,四季民福) in beijing. These are local beijing dishes. And you can try the sugar-coated haw(冰糖葫芦).it is a local street food.

Unlike Shanghai, Beijing has a long history. Of course, there are many tall buildings and bustling shopping plazas here, Beijing has many unique attractions, such as the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, the Great Wall, they have a long history, a very modern universal resort city, and a very humanistic feeling of the old Beijing Hutong, you can go to Shichahai, Yandaixiejie Street, South Luoguxiang have a look. Tiananmen Square is a unique site with extraordinary political significance, where Chinese leaders receive high-profile visitors from all countries, such as presidents and prime ministers.

If you have time to squeeze in, try the driverless taxi, they are in a few cities, I think Wuhan, Shenzhen, Guangzhou to name a few. In winter time, it's good to journey the South first - with the exception Of Harbin famous Ice Sculpture and Snow Festival, a yearly event only fr early Jan to late Feb, which I suspect a lot of domestic tourists have gravitated to at this time. But be warned temps in that part of China can plummet to -40deg cel. In the South, I highly recommend Yunnan, Guangxi with lots of beautiful natural landscapes and beautiful ancient towns to explore.

It is traditionally prepared by the Muslim Hui people, first recorded in the Qing dynasty. There are many restaurants and street peddlers selling it in Beijing, such as Baodu Feng (爆肚冯), a traditional and well-known restaurant established in 1881

It’s a pity that you didn’t stop at the China World Trade Center, where you can find the 528-meter-tall skyscraper China Tower and the iconic Big Pants building. It’s Beijing’s CBD. Although there are no lights, the tall buildings are still impressive. The China Tower is also one of the buildings with the highest floors in the world. Although entry is not allowed, you can see it in the China World Trade Center.
