Today's video dives into the shocking results of a half-mile drag race where McLaren's latest supercar, the 750S, was unexpectedly outperformed by its predecessor, the 720S. Despite the 750S coming in with a price tag 60% higher than a quality used 720S, the outcome has left many McLaren enthusiasts scratching their heads. But is there more to a supercar than just straight-line speed?
Join me as I break down the race and share why the 750S's performance in this specific event doesn't detract from its value as McLaren's newest marvel in the super series lineup. Having personally driven the 750S, I experienced first-hand how McLaren has crafted a vehicle that not only bridges the gap between the 720S's comfort and the 765LT's raw power but also surpasses both in creating a harmonious blend of luxury and lunacy.
The 750S has redefined what a supercar can be, with interior refinements rivaling Rolls Royce, the aggressive gearing of the 765LT, and a driving experience that leaves nothing on the table. It's a testament to McLaren's engineering prowess, offering 97% of the 765LT's thrill with all the day-to-day usability of the 720S.
So, why doesn't the drag race result matter? In this video, I delve into how the 750S excels beyond the drag strip, offering unparalleled versatility as both a comfortable cruiser and an explosive performance machine.
Whether you're a die-hard McLaren fan or just love the thrill of supercar innovation, this video will give you a new perspective on what makes the 750S a game-changer. Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT with your thoughts on the 750S vs. 720S, and SUBSCRIBE for more in-depth automotive content!

I am a Ferrari fan. But I prefer the way McLaren build Supercars. I have found most McLarens more fun to drive than Ferraris and Lambos. And I also appreciate the fact that every McLaren feature exotic doors.

The drag races in the Carwow video was based on reaction time. When the driver of the 750S had the better reaction, it won. When the driver of the 720S had the better reaction, it won. However, it was evident that the 720S was the faster car at higher speeds. And that's expected, because of the 750S' shorter gearbox ratio.

Man this sounds all over the place. So the 750s is worth the premium for the interior? It’s literally the same except without the flip up motorized screen which is cooler. It looks great but not better than the 720s. It is a faster and better car but hardly a crazy difference. These reviewers say the same regurgitated crap that mclaren tells them to hoping to get on a short list for future purchases. It’s not a mclaren only issue or just this influencer. It’s all influencers that made the horrible L takes of the McLaren “lacking soul” 6 years ago now undoing that narrative they created! This guy is talking about the car being so comfortable and then gets super fast in other modes. That’s exactly what the 720s did…so he really didn’t even make that point and he lost his train of thought. The most honest take is the 720s was under appreciated and more and more people are seeing its greatness. The 750a is a worthy successor and there are not a lot of cars that will be built. So it shows the 720s is undervalued compared to the 750s and people are sleeping on the real specialness of the car. Because I do agree with this person saying the 750s gonna be one of the best of the last ICE engines. That’s because if there wasn’t a 750s then the 720s would have been the best super car, or one of the best of all time (looks, performance, light weight all carbon fiber chassis etc). These reviewers just are so disingenuous with how they narrate their reviews and people don’t seem to notice they ALL say the exact same bullet points in the same way. But it’s obvious since the 750s is nearly identical to the 720s and worse in some actual metrics. So the “lacking soul” somehow disappears with 30hp and some gear ratios?! lol come on.

Long comment here. I’ll try to respond to each of your points. It’s not just worth the premium cuz of the interior. The interior is a HUGE step on. Materials are better, it’s better put together, it doesn’t rattle even close to as much, etc. Regarding the difference, it’s at least 40% more exciting. The difference between a Carrera GTS and GT3. It’s so much more engaging than the 720. Better steering, much better sound, the gearbox is at least 50% more responsive. The 720S did the comfort thing and the fast thing, but it was never engaging. It was never an experience that left you yearning to drive it again. The 750S fixes that. 720s is indeed under appreciated and a great bargain, but the experience is no where near as fun as the 750. 765 is the 720 on crack. 750 is the 720 on adderall. Not quite as crazy of a difference, but more focused/more precise.
      Is it worth the premium? Yes. Why? Cuz it’s 97% a 765. The 720 is 85% a 765.
Also, I’ve owned a 765/600LT and have driven the 720 extensively. I would NEVER buy a 720 cuz I’d drive it and get bored in a month. I’d definitely spend my money on the 750. Enough 765, but not too much…
Your comment doesn’t make any sense in terms of my bias. I have no skin in the game. McLaren didn’t even let me record. These are just my honestly opinions

As a former 720S Spider owner I had always talked about it being the best supercar to anyone who would listen, then when I finally got one 2 years ago I was underwhelmed. It was fast as hell no doubt but compared to 570S/600LT I had owned prior it wasn’t as much fun. My criticisms were I felt the steering ratio wasn’t as go cart quick as the sport series cars, it barely ever did the ignition cut despite having the sport exhaust option, and the gearing was so long on it that it made it tough to really get on it and redline it in anything past 1st or maybe second gear, so although I haven’t driven a 750S (and they mostly just tweaked things rather than starting over) it sounds like they’ve fixed the only issues I had on it with the quicker steering ratio, wider track, quicker transmission, LT like ignition cut, better interior quality (I had some door panel rattles that I read have been taken care of now due to new manufacturing processes) and the shorter gearing, car should be pretty much perfect now 👍🏻

Absolutely not worth the premium. The 720s for $200-$225k is a much better buy than a 750s at sticker. The 750s will depreciate a larger dollar amount than what the 720s will continue to fall. A few minor interior tweaks and upgrades does not constitute an $100k+ premium.
Do you see a 991.1 GT3RS vs 991.2 GT3RS commanding massive $100k+ differential in prices?

It’s worth it for those that don’t mind getting killed for $100k. It is $100k better but i agree that the 720s is a much better bargain

@@MiamiMiles it was more because of the pros of the 750s, new car, new 3 year warranty. But the 765lt was and feels like the better choice, also coming from a 992 gt3 which i still have but maybe not for long. Did over 30 track events in it, great car but between a new RS and a 765lt. 750 is awesome and the warranty is great. I'll be honest though; my vibe is more 765. It's way more raw. My 765 was problem free for a year as well. I don't think you'll have issues. Maybe keep the 765 and get an RS for track days.
