It's the honest sellers reward, when I was selling my 07 WRX, I've described everything and I've provided all of receipts sorted by year, following with the inspection at the buyers choice mechanic. After the inspection, the buyer said that he is buying the car without any negotiation. We are friends to this day and he is consulting with me for the maintenance of the car :)
@@petkokrushev3840 that is just the way it has to go, the most human and honest way. Only from a private person, sometimes dealers but seldom. Honesty pays well and vice-versa.

That's why swedish bmw lovers sometimes love to sell to germans, they actually overpay and rarely haggle. Swedish will always lowball the shit out of you or always want a killer deal. Source, im a swede

I love the M5 and this is a great video, but my favourite part of this video is the fact that in Europe you can go to a train station and get a fresh healthy sandwich and a coffee, unlike the fast food dog crap that we get at every corner here in North America. I was in Germany a little over 10 years ago and I loved that!!
We all know what happened: BMW Gods chased away bad weather in Sweden so the M5 can have another life breathed into it.
Being Sreten's close friend I'm also grateful to Michael and his family for warm welcome and being honest seller. Sadly, that's becoming rarity these days.
To say Michael was brave letting Streten into his home to critic his car on camera is a huge understatement... but I suppose if he was honest and has seen Stretens channel he knew he was in good company great vid

Mikael seemed to be very friendly and genuine, and a good ambassador for Sweden! I don't know anyone who has a bad word to say about Sweden! Judging by the condition of the car, I assume that it hasn't been driven in the snowy Swedish winters? Over here in the United Kingdom, the government insists on putting salt on the roads during cold weather and it just ruins our cars... ...and takes the fun out of "rear-end drift action" in high-power BMW's...

@@zestor2908 i Agree, since..That seller approach Streten after he looked to buy an good M5 he could get, because seller saw how good he repair these BMW and because he wanted to let his beloved M5 to good hands who will care for it as he did his best to keep it functional in greatest shape and also helping grow this channel with such good content.. One could only dream of a world filled with such honest fair-play people in every field they might work (lawyers, doctors, diplomats..etc imagine that..) We definitely need more of such people like the honest seller & skilled mechanic both are great people that eventually become friends, not trying to screwing each-other..

Seeing Europe males me so sad cause I miss it so bad. Was in the Military and traveled all over Europe, it was so gorgeous! I loved everything from the paninis, the coffee, the Gelato, the food,nthe European architecture, the museums, the clubs and of course the women.
What's better than one e39 M5? Two M5! ☺️ What an amazing catch. Can't wait for the journey.

A good 540/6 will do nicely for most. More bargains to be had with those models aswell ^^

Oh man, I used to live in Skövde and previously owned an E39 M5 (99). This video managed to both make me homesick and want an M5 again!
I'm not really a 'car guy' - bikes are my thing, but I love your videos! The amount of work you put into the editing and presentation of your videos, not to mention the godlike work you put into restoring these cars - makes you probably one of the best 'youtubers' I watch. Utterly brilliant content, and such an incredible level of skill.

Gorgeous weather, beautiful country. Gonna admit: apart from the obvious things like road signs and the occasional red house, that could as well have been somewhere in Germany. It looks almost the same as in the area where I live.
Yeah because they salt the shit out of the roads here, just don't buy a Swedish sold ca after 5 years the underbody is surface rust

These BMWs scare me from a reliability and cost of ownership perspective, but I'm learning to respect them from these videos.
Its so scary! I've been wanting a bmw wagon for awhile but I just don't want the problems that come with having a bmw. I'm lucky enough to have someone like an hour away that worked for bmw but still lol. Everyone loves BMWs until they have to pay $2,000 to put in a part that costs $25

I have an 00 M5 and have done all the work myself in my garage. That includes valve cover gaskets, fuel pump, replaced the ABS module and manifold/pump, replaced the purge valve (deep under the intake manifold, differential bushings, front and rear control arms, bushings and ball joints, thermostat, rebuilt the sunroof which involved removing the entire cassette, E60 545 shifter with UUC selector rod, euro xenon headlights....lots of other misc things. It's crazy when I actually list all of that off. It's a lot of satisfying work. The crappiest job was easily pulling the differential out to do the bushings. I had to buy a very expensive special tool and the rear end is extremely heavy and awkward.
I also have a 97 M3 that I recently replaced the engine and clutch along with a lot of other work. Definitely a labor of love.
My E90 335xi sits collecting dust as I love my M cars and prefer to drive them.

The e39 m5 is pretty much the best bmw ever made, I might be wrong but it certainly is beautiful with both classic and modern in it
Very cool - two nearly identical cars from two completely different countries - one from bella Italia and one from beautiful Sweden. One from southern Europe and one from northern Europe and they meet in the middle of Europe. Both finished in let's call it 'Europe blue'. Hell let's hum the European anthem! :-D

I love these cars, but that's far from what I want. I actually hate how overpriced they are nowadays to the point that even rough examples command silly money. I wish they don't skyrocket like E30 M3 as they'll become unobtainable for most people.
@@M539Restorations I’ve just looked on Autotrader here in the UK. Cheapest V8 is £18k....and the wheel is on the wrong side, in your eyes anyway!
@@M539Restorations The most expensive I've seen locally is $89k, but it only has 37k miles and it never left the dealership, was the managers car.
Look at how much money cosworth's go for now....the m5 is following it and going for stupid money and lots of miles under its belt...need a small mortgage to buy a classic car now

So much fun to follow along, thanks for bringing it to us! I grew up in the 60’s when those American cars where made, my parents had a 63 Cadillac convertible coupe and 62 olds they bought used. Will never forget the day my mother came home in 1972 with a perfect 1963 Impala SS coupe, such a solid car! Sadly she didn’t get long to enjoy it passing away soon after. Also remember having a huge 1960 Mercury Colony Park “station wagon” as we call them in US. I remember when your current E39 came out and I thought they were beautiful, perfectly proportioned cars and fell in love with them. I wanted one but couldn’t afford it. Looking forward to seeing you work you magic on her!

"Swedish roads are very smooth" Sure, in the south they are but here in the north it is pothole country, or the roads are really badly worn :) going to be fun watching this project, and i remember once when i started my 95 volvo 850 after sitting for about 4 years it sounded like the engine was going to throw a rod out of the block because of the lifters

Sadly, far too complicated to do that. I'd need to buy export plates and insurance and for that, it needs to pass Swedish inspection so I'd need to fix it up first. I also wouldn't want to drive it long distance without proper service. In the end, too much time and money would be spent as opposed to simply having it shipped.

@@M539Restorations You're a CLASS ACT + Good Head. My first BMW 1975 530i manual of course! Had over 50 since then, including an Alpina B7 1985 that I got at the factory in Germany. Had many hi speed runs from Frankfort - Munich....Blast after Midnight, no traffic or Trablant's in those days.Cruise Control at 240kph! Wunderbar Work Sir......gonna get some Merch!

It would have been really nice to fly there, buy the M5 and then drive back home. I remember this from 12 years back. Me and my father drove to central Germany to buy and pickup a German oldtimer (Adler). We were also greeted and welcomed so nicely, they made dinner and everything. A great experience that really adds to the story of the car and its project.

I had a 855R 5-speed slicktop, all original. I hate myself for selling it.

Had a 855R 96 m/t black with black interior. Beautiful car. No rust and everything worked. Drivetrain was in great condition. Should never have sold it.
Whoever did that paint job did a nice job I was sure it was basically original!
