  • The OEM clutch cable would not release the springs all the way and it was already adjusted with no more expansion room so I replaced it.

    Great video. Thanks! One thing to mention though. You say the lever needs 10mm of free play, but that's almost a full centimeter. What you've shown with the width of a coin is about 1 or 2mm. 10mm free play would be a stack of 5 to 8 coins.

      Good catch, 10mm would be a large amount of free play. I'll have to check it again.

      @hillquestdualsport @DoctorFixMaster The lever will have 10mm of free play but that's measured at the tip of the lever. This is more or less a coin at the gap against the perch, so both are correct, just depends where you measure

    Very nice video I just don t understand one thing I may ask
    I get the adjustment on the minor side that is like a bicycle but can you please explain to me how the short adjustment works as feels counterintuitive thank you great video!

      I believe this particular clutch cable is made to fit several models of bikes so that allows for this cable to adjust to the proper length. If that is incorrect, I hope someone who also reads this comment lets us know. Thanks for watching and safe riding.

    When you tighten the adjust nut, it must to have a clearance between the hand lever in order to future adjument, in the video you tighten completely, it is not a good practice.

      Yes, that is right. Always leave a coin width for free play. I did set the slack correctly during the next ride.

    at 9:56 there are 2 adjuster one is the long metal and the other is near the handle? can you explain what is the purpose of the adjuster that you point at the video, i got problem with the 2 adjustment, my new clutch keep on slipping, i did leave a gap as per your video but the clutch is still slipping, i have change my clutch to new EBC, thanks for your time.

      Hi. The larger adjuster will move the cable sleeve to be longer or shorter to fit the approximate length you will need. The smaller minor adjustor is used to make quick more precise adjustments to allow the slack or free play. The CRF250L clutch has a jutter spring which allows for some forgiveness for those riders that have a tough time slipping the clutch correctly. When I eventually changed the clutch plates out, I replaced the jutter spring with just a regular clutch plate eliminating any mechanical slippage. AS an FYI, I was riding the 250L like an enduro bike and it is not made for that so I did also get a KTM dirt bike to hit the single tracks and used the Honda as a trail bike.

      @@hillquestdualsport Thanks for the tips. There are 5 plates so when you remove the judderspring, you add 1 plate so total 6. i m using EBC can i use the original honda plates to add it.

    hi its me again, now its time for me to change the cable for my CRF250L 2014. can you explain at 07:43 how far or close the nut to be adjusted?

    • @hillquestdualsport
      @hillquestdualsport  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry Mac, I just saw this. This nut need to be tightened snug all the way to hold the cable in place.

    i have a 2018 crf 250 L and i also need to replace the clutch cable.
    Do you need to lube the cable after you install it?

    • @hillquestdualsport
      @hillquestdualsport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the late reply. I did not lube the cable and it works just fine. I suppose it couldn't hurt to lube it at some point.

    • @aurelioramos8463

      I'd lube it before installation, it's going to be a little easier and you can hold it straight up and down so the lube can spread
