The piston is pressure die cast and has a completely different grain structure from the welding rod. This wont last for long in a heavy truck before the welded sections just peel off, but at least it will only kill the engine and not the driver.

When you have no money, and no spare parts, this would get engine going. Not a long term fix tho! ( I love the welding shoes!)

When you have no money, it is a terrible idea to install such a pos in your engine. It will explode, melt and/or seize in a few miles and you are looking at two thousand dollars in repair costs because you wanted to save eighty bucks for a new piston.

Not sure anyone would risk many thousand dollar worth of parts and repair down the line to save $150 on a piston like this. If include the cost of this hack job repair for this piston, you end up saving only $50. No way this particular piston will work. The top end of the piston been grind down smaller than the original diameter.

    1. Head piston diameter smaller than original. 2.segment rings larger than original. 3. Weight piston different tnan original (balance, group piston selection). 4. Aluminium utilised for repair not the original aluminium alloy. You want more? Craftmanship excellent. Utility none. Wasted time, aluminium, electrodes, electricity, turner wear etc. Stone better than this aluminium horror, as paper weight.
