Nobody buys smaller cars in the US. Most sold cars are F-Series, Chevrolet Silverado, Ram Pickup, Toyota RAV4. US buys too much large barges for the Yaris to make sense over there.

The Australians have got 470 WHP out of the GR Yaris with standard engine internals!! ...think about that!. And there have been rumours of a UK Yaris with 500 BHP?
Good review. The modifications will suit a lot of people. Unfortunately the piggyback tuning box voids the 10 year warranty on the engine, so it doesn’t justify the 10% increase, for me. And I also like the extra travel and tarmac rally set up of the CP car, that’s what I wanted.

Very sophisticated and nuanced take… better than most. When I get mine, in Australia, I’ll be getting a 255kW, 470Nm, induction, exhaust, chip combination… then deciding what to do with suspension. I suspect there’ll be serious coilovers, but I want to retain wheel travel, hence ability over rough, even dirt, roads, because this is Australia!
It’s not sophisticated. It’s a crude tuning piggy back box bolted onto a new engine. The ramifications for reliability down the road are complete unknowns, regardless of what Ian Litchfiled says. He has merely bought a third party box in.
Was at Lichfield a couple of days ago and saw this in the flesh. It's a stunning car and the green makes it, plus the new stance is so much better over stock. Has jumped up on my list of buys 👍

The standard GR Yaris is fantastic on tight, rough UK B-Roads, the supple suspension and travel soak up the bumps brilliantly. The Litchfield car looks to be more of a tarmac-spec rally car, so still a rally car. :) It's great to have these options available.
I have a Circuit Pack GR Yaris with KW V3 Coil Overs and can attest to this. It definitely soaked up those bumps better before!! But it looks so much better now and feels a tad more planted on well maintained roads. The stock suspension is superb and I'd not change it if it weren't for the looks. And if you live in a country with bad roads I'd never do it anyway.
@@sveeny My GR isn't turning up till next year! I seriously like the stance of the lowered suspension. 40mm is a huge amount and did I mention I loved the stance, but yeah bumpy english roads. But I hear the Litchfield version is pretty good mannered on our crappy roads. So Im really torn. Lichfield also now do a proper remap and not a chip, so i will definitely do that, despite loosing the warranty (two year with Litchfield in not the same as 10 from Toyota). But it's a weekend car, so I think I can go with the lowering too.

I saw a late model 911 recently sitting in traffic and with the large front/rear oem wheels just barely seeming to clear the car door, it looked almost cartoonish.
Most things the GR Yaris is doing for people a Scooby or Evo did for you 20 years ago. I get that its the Scoob of today but its not a revolution. Its a sign that we have been starved of rally homogenised cars and consumers want them. All manufacturers in the WRC need to listen up.
I'm wondering how well it will go on over bumpier poor condition roads. I'd love to see a timed race on a bad bumpy surface between a Litchfield suspension modded only GRY and a stock circuit pac one.
I am so pissed this won't come to the US. I want to pick up a more practical daily and this is the perfect thing. Very small, unique exhaust note, AWD, hatchback, and a stick.
Bear in mind that Akio Toyoda literally said the car was for us to complete. The original suspension was not what he envisioned as ideal, but what he thought was suitable for the starting point. Thus, in no way has Litchfield detracted from the path by making these changes but rather - they are on the intended one :)
Good review. I have a base Red GR so this car would feel very different to mine. Love a drive of this Green beast but love a drive of a Rallye or Circuit pack.
Litchfield and Syvecs are working on a centre diff controller….full control over how much power is sent to the rear. That’ll change how this little car rotates around a bend on the throttle. Clever stuff!
@@marcusbrady5011 it’s only as good as the Calibration. I wouldn’t know where to take my motec ecu to be setup for a GR to be honest. At least with Litchfield they can do everything in house if you want.

Yeh people want manual cars. See next m2 has manual or auto options as does the Porsche Cayman gt4. But both expensive.
Point about the motor is valid; competition cars can make more sure, but the engines last how long?

Nitron equipped GRY gives far more confidence (having driven it and I own a stock one)
