Never warmed to the GR Yaris but Mr Metcalfe is kind of changing my mind.
Time to be more open minded
Sunday, 5pm is my favourite time of the weekend...!
It's the new Top Gear 👍
It puts a smile on your face. Well, we can see that!! What a bargain. Love it. Too bad we'll never see this in the US.
No navigation, because software weighs so much...😩
Honestly for me car navigation is crap compared to Waze or Google maps. I've never used it in any of my cars. Android auto is the most useful.
@@cosminmihu9963 Exactly, who uses in car navigations anyway? ALL of them are beyond pathetic. That is the only consolation for all in car infotainments because all of them are totally rubbish but as long as you can Android auto/carplay them, all is fine. (of course, have to note that Tesla is the only exception here)
@@kristisrb Tesla mostly uses Google maps software anyway.
You can get a navigation. But you don’t want it. Toyota’s navigation sucks
Who tf wants naviagtion, everyone uses apple carplay or android auto
Bravo Toyota for the commitment to sporting cars. Manual, 3dr hatchback, all wheel drive. A real throwback to the 90s. Buy them while you can.
Reminds me of when the Peugeot 206 GTi came out. Wheel on each corner and a ripping motor. That was fun too
One of the most fun cars ever made
You mean 205 GTi, or really the 206 GTi?
205GTI, I made a typo
@@seventydoo6033 I missed the 205 so I only knew the 206 GTi. Loved that car so much!
206 gti was rubbish compared to the 205 1.9 gti. Then again mine was 170bhp compared to stock 130bhp and lowered, great fun.
Homologation specials are by far my favourite cars, the Lancia Delta is my favourite car and I wasn't even born when it was new or relevant. This Yaris GR feels really special and judging by every single review I've seen, the press feels the same way. I hope this sets a "case" for these type of cars and more manufacturers dare to produce this kind of purposeful and enthusiast products.
Definitely a car I'd have. Brilliant video as always Harry
Great review Harry, I think that it is the most exciting car of the last couple of years because it is affordable unlike the back to back supercars that keep rolling out.
I've not seen you so excited about a new car for ages, great to watch Harry, love it. I'm smiling watching it, just what we need.
Best review I've seen for this car, thanks Harry.
Harry is the last of a generation of old school presenters, who gives us what we need and not what we want.
Love your work Harry. Keep up the great work.
Well i think we have learnt more about this car from Harry than all the other TH-cam reviewers put together, also did anybody else notice the rather cool and unusual Panerai watch Harry was wearing?
JayEmm on Cars has a boatload of information, as well as Evolve Automotive's channel when they knew about this car two years ago in the Tokyo Autosalon 2019
Being the first to watch is like reading your brand new magazine before everyone else reads it!!
“...And then you taste the vintage champagne” Only Harry and also a metaphor for Harrys reviews. Bollinger 57 anyone?
Great review of a guaranteed future classic a modern mini Integrale.
Having grown up driving small cars on twisty roads, often in bad weather, this car looks like the best thing ever.
How long before Harry gets his chequebook out? He speaks like it's made him 20 years younger!
He got his wallet open this week !!!
Mr Metcalfe singlehandedly helped Toyota shift every single GR Yaris off the dealer's doors and to customers hands for the next 2 years, it seems...
When Mr Metcalfe is hugely impressed and enjoyed the experience, you know you're on to a winner.
For me Harry's Garage is like "old" top gear, it's excellent!
Competence has no age
Nice to see a more affordable car rather than the ridiculously expensive exotics on this channel. I know you'll do it justice!
Should get hold of mine in April and have been waiting for Harry’s review since I placed the order. Looks like I’m not going to be disappointed 👍👍👍
Harry: When I you said Toyota Yaris I thought " OMG - how could an S-Box like this deserve to be on Harry's Garage????".....but watching the joy on your face driving it, I'm now convinced this is a special car.
Been waiting for this, big fan and recently got my GR Yaris and the smiles never stop
What do you think of the suspension ?
Would you be upgrading
Thanks Harry, I got mine in black without the race pack because I live in a country area that has questionable road quality, love the hell outta the thing already, six months 7000kms on the clock, Rj watching from Oz
Wonderful. Instant classic. A years waiting list or £5k premium already. Maybe other manufacturers will realise this is what we really want, not hybrid/EV nonsense.
This is what we need to keep enjoying and spreading the passion for cars. Brilliant
Great little car, only spoiled by that stupid Ipad on the dashboard & bizarre seating heights...But maybe we can forgive it that...Thanks for the great review Harry. 👍🏻
Agree. What I can't understand is the previous generation Yaris has a great screen embedded in the dash. New models all have the stuck on system and its terrible on any vehicle.
As a reader from the very beginning, this man *IS* Evo. He has the thrill of driving running through his veins. Long may these wonderful videos continue. I love this channel and his content, and to hear Harry drool over this 30k hatchback when he has a garage full of exotica most of us can only dream of tells us this is a very special car. I'm off to find a hammer to smash my piggy bank....
Harry's garage is one of those rare youtube channels where I hit like even before watching the video lol
And then your only post is about that. Kinda pitiful.
@@johnsmith1474 also Savagegeese
Because it's always quality.
Best review of this car so far. Guess the Litchfield is great for road use, otherwise the greater ground clearance would be a benefit. I would definitely want to do some low level navigational night rallies at club level with this car! Great fun.
Amazing Harry that a little plastic Yaris GR can have this effect on drivers.....could see the pleasure and excitement in your eyes Harry.....all this for a sub £35k car. Kind of makes all these supercars redundant for driving fun on UK roads. Bravo Toyota!
Harry you are a LEGEND
Harry's garage just keeps getting better! Great stuff!
Toyota: Torsion diffs; forged wheels, race springs; painted calipers....£3300. Ferrari: Painted calipers....£2000.
The average Ferrari buyer is considerably richer than the average Toyota driver. Ferrari’s job is to get as much money from those rich people as possible.
Special magic fairy 🧚♂️ dust Ferrari paint.
And upgraded tyres
If you £2000 is bad for painted calipers for a ferrari. A Bugatti veyron service is 20k. The tyres are 31k😂
@@JDMz you also get cruise control and safety features standard
I haven’t wanted a hot hatch this bad since my R32 years ago. Seems like an absolute fire cracker. Fantastic and informative video as always Harry.
This I’ll be one of those in 30 years you wish you’d have kept hold of it, they are making plenty of them, sounds a bit odd, but it’ll be a rare beast. Great review as always. 🏴🇬🇧
Part of the minimum 25k cars are the 'RS' trims with FWD 1.5l CVT
Just bought one today. I thought this was the thing I wanted the minute I saw it because it takes me right back to my Impreza days in the late 90's, but I wanted to wait for Harry's review.
Good review, and the first one to actually shut that damn ICU beep off! Three car garage so far: Defender, Yaris GR (or faster derivative), and a beater 2nd hand electric car....
Harry...the nearest thrill you can get that compared to how we thought a Mini Cooper S was in 1963! (No...I was too young to drive!!). That is a car to buy I think!!! What a lovely review as well...even that brings a smile!😎😎😃😃😃😃😎😎
"it deserves all the accolades it gets.." Harry has spoken....
Hi Harry lovely little car. Love your Chanel. Looking forward to another update on the farm. Hope you and your family are all doing well take care.
This has a good deal for Toyota Street cred. Great review
This car excites me more than any hyper car. I want one. Thanks for another great review Harry.
Everyone was talking about Lancia and Subaru , none mentioned Mitsubishi which Tommy Makenin won world championships in
Oh golly gee - Harry Metcalfe with a long term review of the beloved, anointed GRRRR Yaris AND the Litchfield ripsnorter? I am in hog heaven.
I was hoping you would review this car - thank you!
From Ferraris and Lambos to a Yaris. Just awesome range and such complete reviews. Thanks again, Harry.
Mechanical watch on the left wrist, smart watch on the right wrist: not seen you doing that previously Harry Metcalfe?
Great review Harry, I never thought we would see a rally inspired road car again! So nice to see and your in depth review is great. In golf we say Nothing feels like a Mizuno...In car reviews nothing is as good as a Harry's.
That 5 year warranty sticker in the middle of the rear window tho. Bet not many of them last past first days ownership.
You’re probably right. I’ll be replacing mine with a National Trust sticker.
Such a detailed review that actually meant something. The first reviewer I have heard chirp the tyres on first to second shift. I've always said 250-300hp is just the right amount to make progress and put a smile on your face.
"it's a proper hoot" says our Harry, £30k bargain, we all want one...
Watching Harry forever, cannot remember him giggling whilst driving before.
How many other TH-camrs would use vintage champagne as the analogy for a suspension mod!! :)
pure class Harry.
Proof that Toyota can build a proper sports car by itself. There was no need to bring BMW for the Supra.
There is plenty of proof from the 90s. They have finally gone back to being cool is all. Dont forget they also have Lexus
Yes an absolute shame there with the new Supra. Toyota are the number 1 manufacturer in the world, a company built on unquestionable qaulity. I think the vast majority of us would have preferred a beast of an in house developed Supra.
This is what happens when Toyota builds their own cars. A great product. And a good video. Cheers.
The handbrake is properly attached to the differential too!
Yeah nobody does that these days
Toyota can be proud, Harry is happy. What a great little car and Harry is right when he calls it a future cult car. An investment if you are in the market for something both mad and reliable.
