      This car will run 10s on street tires. GT500s are not going to beat this, all things being equal. Challenger guys have sat in the shadow of the GT500 for 7 years, now it's our turn. Ford has some work to do.

    • @68fbjjz109
      @68fbjjz109 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't think Ford cares. They are going after the M4/911/Z28. Something The Challenger unfortunate can never do out of the box.

      On3videos It is very cool, the GT500 runs a 11.5. Curious to see what it would run with the same tire.

    • @mobeydick37
      @mobeydick37 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll believe it will run 11.20s stock or 10.80s with DRs when I see an unedited video of one doing it! The numbers just don't add up to 707 at the crank at 4,439#s without the driver. The car and driver would have to weigh less then 4,000#s with 707 at the crank to run those numbers!

    • @mobeydick37

      dobbins2550 Stock 13/14 GT500s will run 10.25 on the stock rubber.

    The new 707hp, 650lb-ft tq 2015 Challenger Hellcat runs 10.80 @ 126mph in the 1/4! MOPAR is kicking ass, and taking names!

    • @MrManuel1329
      @MrManuel1329 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's all what about lap times on a proper racetrack

    • @BloodstainedSinner
      @BloodstainedSinner 10 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      MrManuel1329 Who cares about lap times on a circuit? When's the last time you've ever had someone pull up too you and say "Let's go racing on the local circuit!" I guarantee you've never done it, regardless of what car you have. You can have a Formula 1 car as a daily driver, and all that handling wouldn't mean a damn thing, because you're never going to use it.

    • @MrManuel1329
      @MrManuel1329 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      BloodstainedSinner A canyon road a twisty back road those are places were handling is important

    • @BloodstainedSinner
      @BloodstainedSinner 10 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      MrManuel1329 The Challenger does fine in that area. Even the Challenger SXT (or SE, I forgot what they're calling it now. Basically the V6 model) which has the lowest-grade suspension of the Challengers handles itself in canyons well. The Challenger R/T and SRT-8 handle as well, if not better than a BMW counter part that weighs the same. If you look through the recent videos put up by Chrysler Group LLC, you'll see how they make it a point to show that the car's suspension is 100% adjustable through a touch screen inside of the car, and has different settings, be it for track or street use. They made it a point to display how the car should handle much better then even the SRT-8, and they got rid of the numbness felt with the steering. That was the only complaint about the Challenger's handling -- how numb the steering felt, but, as stated in a video, they refined that numbness out, and the car now has great steering feel. You seem to be under the common misconception that American muscle cars can't even take a turn at 20mph. I can't help but laugh at that ideology, as all three of the modern Muscle cars out-handle things like the BMW M6 Coupe V10, by a long shot. Remember, the BMW M6 Coupe V10 is 2200kg (4,850lbs) the Challenger Hellcat should only be around 1905kg (4,200lbs).

      I don't trust owners, they have every reason to lie. Owners of 392 Challengers have said that they have gone 12.20s, would you believe that, faster than a Boss 302LS? The fastest GT500 tested by a non-owner was 11.6@126 from the factory (Motor trend). Owners are liars. Sorry. Are there ringers, sure. This car will run 10s on tires. It is quicker than the GT500.

    I honestly would buy the hellcat over the Nissan any day. Sure the Nissan is an impeccable piece of engineering made to go a fast around any piece of smooth pavement as possible, it doesn't have that america muscle car attitude. Gtr was made to be a statement that Japan can build super car killers, this was made to show the world that nothing has the power and the sheer badass nature of an american muscle car.

    automatic... gay
    EDIT because i get the same message every day from auto owners:
    Yes, the auto trans in this car is cool. Yes, some automatic cars are cool. Yes, transmissions are getting better. Yes, they lay down good track times. That said, It's still my personal opinion that owning a muscle car, of all cars, with an automatic transmission just isnt right, unless you're only running it on the strip. I personalyl can't stand driving autos and cringe when I realize a challenger/mustang/camaro i see near me on the street is an automatic. In the US, this is sort of the general opinion. I'm curious to see what kind of times the reviewers get. Ford didn't pay for such a crazy marketing campaign when they came out with the 2013 GT500. It's well-known that people are running mid to high 10's on drag radials with stock 2013-14 GT500s, 11.1-11.3 on stock tires. Most reviewers only got an 11.5-11.7 out of the GT500 on street tires. I'd bet money that if Ford had put together a video like this, the GT500 would be running the same times or better, and be "NHRA certified." That tag is a crock of shit meant to sucker in people who have never bracket raced in their life. Like most Mopar efforts, this campaign is cheesy, and so is the car. The only thing I like about the car is the engine, and the general shape. Wrong chassis for a car of this type (ancient Mercedes E-class), and all sorts of grandiose claims. Cheese appeals to the Mopar crowd, so not surprising.

      Atimatik Army That's not what the numbers say. The GT500 has a better power to weight ratio, and 1/4 mile times are comparable. This is a marketing campaign with Dodge paying to have the car publicized in such a way. Like I said in my first comment- People have been running these numbers in 2013-14 GT500s.

      Well I agree for the most part. But you forgot to mention what appeals to ford guys, hehe. Let's see, Small displacement engines with forced induction, short tube headers - don't get that one, cats, flowmaster chambered mufflers, small diamiter exhuast pipes, brand name everything, and underwhelming power numbers, OH and 91 octane gas.

      Please don't......it has no manual option and Chrysler can't make suspension parts if it was to save their lives.
      Also I work in the Auto industry. Guess what cars we see the most of. Everything put out by the Chrysler Corp. weather it be Dodge, Jeep, or Chrysler.
      And as a muscle car enthusiast you know dodge took all the fun out of that car the minute they decided to put a grandpa tranny in it. My take is although it has awesome performance it just ruined the fun of the car being an auto tranny. If they made Dale Jr. put this tranny in his car he would probably quit the very next day. lol.

    • @marcsmith3881
      @marcsmith3881 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      evilcowboy You work in the auto industry and didn't know that this car comes standard with a Tremec 6 Speed MANUAL? You must really suck at your job. This Grandpa tranny, as you call it is designed by ZF and shifts in 200ms or less and has a torque rating of over 660 ft-lbs. I would hardly call that a Grandpa transmission that kills the manual performance times all day.
      In the past, all performance numbers were put up by the manual version. Anyone notice the current trend? BTW, you are no Dale Jr, and neither is anyone else. Stop giving us real auto technicians a bad name by putting your ignorance on public display.

      Paddles in my book does not constitute a true manual. Secondly if you knew shit about cars you'd know many of NASCAR 's own racers use a powerglide transmission to this day. Yeah a tranny designed in the 60's. The NASCAR comparison came because this is obviously meant ot be used on a track. Cite me anywhere other than a track where you can put the full power of the car to use. Yeah we'll wait.
      The Six speed is controlled by pussy paddles on the steering wheel for people who are too daft to learn how to use a clutch.
      And sorry to tell you that 200ms shift requires for the tranny to be used as the 8 SPEED AUTOMATIC and let a computer do the controlling. Yeah someone too mentally incapable of using a tranny to it's fullest without the aid of a computer is a grandpa. Period. To not know that to take advantage of the 200ms shift you need to use the auto option makes it look like you know fuck and all about your job. You seem like the kind of technician who replaces suspension parts in singles and brakes onepad at a time.
      Cry torque ratings all you want but if you are in capable of using it it's useless in a real world scenario. The only place this would have any use is on a track. Hence the only people who would have a use for it is maybe a NASCAR driver. I'm pretty certain that would be considered an illegal advantage by NASCAR rules.
      Stop googling transmissions and claiming you are a technician.
      And your goddamn right I make you technicians look bad. All of us real mechanics make you fuckers look bad.
      And viewing it from a Engineering stand point sorry to say but I'd still smoke your ass. Come on. You wanna call my knowledge into question how about without googling it you start citing the whole formula used to calculate compression for an engine build or how about you give me a run down on cam lift, lope and duration and how it effects an engine and why it's important to pay attention to shit like that in conjunction with compression, or you can let us all know what are the things that can change the compression of an engine. Or why you can't just throw a supercharger or turbo on any engine without making something like the tranny blowing prematurely or the engine blowing up. How about an easy one What the fuck is a casting number used for and how can it be useful in engine building. Yeah I'll wait for the typical "I don't have anything to prove" routine. But your gonna look like an ass especially since if you decide to answer I can tell if you googled that shit.
      Your the typical asshole who would probably look for the EGR Valve and catalytic converter on a 1939 Model T or the person who will try to find the ring gear of a FWD car or a radiator for a 76 beetle or any part for a 83 corvette or anything for the 1990 Fiero.
      Don't call my shit into question because I don't like a transmission because it lacks the fun of a real manual. The sad thing is it was my opinion and I am entitled to it unless you feel we live in a socialist country. Keep you socialist views to yourself. I stand by my opinion of the car. Which is the SRT Hellcat has an awesome engine and the tranny for an automatic is decent but lacks the fun of having a true manual transmission and this brings my opinion of it down since I like driving a true manual and consider it fun it removes a pivotal feature that would have made me see it as an awesome car.
      Can't drive a real manaual keep this automatic shit the fuck out of our muscle cars and make the fuckers who never learned and refuses to learn drive a goddamn 1999-2014 Impala (yeah those years suck balls for the impala because it was wrong wheel drive) I suppose your gonna tell me my opinion of the Impala is off too. They killed that car the minute they went from an FR Layout to a Transverse Front-Engine/FWD Layout.
      Oh and fucking pounded bitch.

      When did this become about you? You narcissistic SOB? Who cares about your book filled with areas for you to color and dots to connect?
      I am calling your knowledge into question because you still didn't know that the Hellcat comes with a true manual and I busted you. So you can spew all of the nonsense you want, but you are still Ignorant about alot of things and got easily caught. All of your rhetoric and I still see NOTHING technical in your conversation.
      I am waiting since you claim I am not a tech and you "work" in the automotive industry. You say a car lacks this and lacks that but that is ALL a subjective opinion. You have the CHOICE of a Tremec 6 speed manual or the optional ZF 8 speed auto in the Helcat in case you missed the links I posted. So STFU already.

    • @marcsmith3881
      @marcsmith3881 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      evilcowboy Nice try attempting to avoid what you said. You said the 6 speed manual uses paddles and there is no manual option for this car. That was all you so stop blaming other people for your stupidity and grow up already. It was plain to see so I quoted exactly what you said. You came here talking about people that like automatics and making negative comments like a child when you clearly didn't know it comes standard with a manual. Anyone that has read your rants knows exactly your position on the matter. Stop running from your comments and admit you were clearly wrong.
      This entire conversation is about transmissions and you want to talk about engines? At what point in time did anyone talk about engines in this post? I believe you are suffering from ADD or feeling stupid that you came to a video and talked about a car you didn't have basic knowledge of the drivetrains and you are feeling stupid.
      This is the problem with arguing with a stupid person. It is similar to wrestling a pig. You will both get dirty, but in the end, the pig will enjoy it. I am far from stupid and you put your ignorance on display by ranting about something you clearly have no knowledge about. Next time do some research before commenting.

      Screamn4444 I'd like to point out it was the 2010 Viper ACR which was 100,000. The 2010 GTR was 62,000 and only 10 seconds slower over the course of the 7+ minute course. Keep in mind the ACR was a 600hp stripped out racer and the GTR was a 485hp fully loaded vehicle.
      Also this conversation STARTED with someone comparing the GTR to the Hellcat, so don't get mad at him for responding to the main comment. So, I have no idea why you're so mad.

    Ok, yo soy aficionado primero al Charger R/t e inmediatamente después al Challenger R/T. Por supuesto que estoy fascinado con el lanzamiento de nuevo Dodge Challenger SRT Supercharged. Una vez dicho ésto. Con éste llevo 2 vídeos que veo que ponen al Challenger 2015 junto a un modelo clásico, histórico, leyenda diría yo de modelo atrasado y no le guardan el respeto que se merece. Estamos hablando de un diseño infinitamente mejor desde luego, por la simple razón de que la tecnología es infinitamente mayor ahora y eso es mas que lógico, sin pasar de lado que el conocimiento, la experiencia nos las dieron aquellos viejos modelos anteriores. Para mi, el simple hecho de poner uno junto al otro en plan comparativo ya es ofensivo, denigrante y ventajoso. ojalá que nadie, ni siquiera estas personas reconocidas en el mundo de los buenos autos, vuelva a hacer algo así. Mi humilde opinión.

    The Charger and Challenger Hellcats are overall great vehicles; however, my only main complaint about these cars is the size of the wheels and tires. Only 275 wide front and rear? The other competitors in the class such as Ford Mustang GT350R, Corvette Zo6, and Camaro Z28 all have wider tires front and rear and less power. So why not make future Hellcats with wider wheels and tires?
