That's why I've created a mod that does that and some other things. Income 15% of what we have nowadays and with a owned truck around 20%... and even so, the economy in this game is easy..
Our drivers are already complaining because of the broken used truck, but when I use this, it's just fine, just a lot of start engines but it still runs smoothly. The condition is even 3 stars
I got a DAF XF105 for 28k, it had like 20% permanent wear, but the parts were in good condition, 0 to 5% wear. It served me well, and other than making weird sounds from time to time, nothing ever failed in it. The truck paid for itself in just two deliveries, and a few thousand kilometers later was traded in for a brand new MAN TGX, giving a 27k discount which is almost the same price i bought it for... now the DAF is gone, but it won't be forgotten.
This must be my favourite ets2 video I’ve ever watched, as a suggestion I think you should try and find a DAF xf on the used market because their engines are quite weak at its smallest but great video.
1:15 They must've changed something since you uploaded this video, because I tried exactly that on my Renault with almost 40% (yes, really) transmission wear, and it worked. My truck went from having 10 gears to 12, as it should.
@@thearousedeunuch maybe because his swap was for the same transmission, just with a retarder. Maybe the game considers ithe price as just added the equipment for that feature. Or it was just buggy.
I have had zero issues with used trucks so far. Even got some really high milage (mod for accurate prices and milage used) with decent condition. Nothing that part replacement couldn't fix. Just a check engine and bad mpg every once in a while

I would like to see a lease program similar to the new vehicle purchase and borrowing from the bank...it will give beginning with a new driver a little different way of starting a career.
10% of the fuel consumption is fine?! A more realistic number would be 60% of that number, but if you choose the right gearbox and driving style, you can get to 50%.
I mean, i never had so much fun watching someone play ETS 2 :D. I mean broken Renault on Swiss Pass is just golden combo. :D I mean, WEB Cam on your setup, nicely edited gameplay, nice commentary, just love it. not sure if every1 know it yet but if you owned the used truck that got removed from the dealer, you can buy a brand new using "my fleet" option. So yeah, you can always get a fresh renault magnum if you own it.
Probably they leaved this feature for a while, maybe for those who want to collect old trucks in new condition, and it in future updates this ability will be removed
i got my truck for like 115k and like 10k of upgrades (might spend like 60k to make it a 6 wheeler and do engine and transmittion upgrades) and i buy cheap iveco trucks for 92k and give them to my super happy and well payed employees
In ETS2 they don't seem worth it at all. For a semi-decent truck it would have cost me $90k + around $10-15k in repairs right away (not an overhaul). My restarted profile, I just bought a new Renault T which cost me around $120k. In ATS however, used trucks are worth it. Restarted my profile, bought a Western Star 5700xe for $20k, + 8K in repairs. Then upgrades cost me around $40k (better engine etc.).
It is worth it in ETS2, though. Just look for a three-star truck, then check that none of the parts exceed 20℅. I got a drivable Volvo FH Classic for 30k.
I haven't seen anyone talking about this mod lately, but I believe I have discovered that the trucks available is dependant on your location. In one day, I went from a smallish town and had about 6 or 7 trucks to choose from, to a fairly large city and had a complete new array of trucks to choose from. All the trucks were different. I play ATS, so I think it varies not only by city, but by state.
Tbh, i just replace motor and gearbox, mostly i buy a new one and more powerful one as it is only 2/3K more and then the truck works perfectly fine Edit : also it's nice because the old daf and the old volvo is in the used truck dealer
i bought a 35k Actros thinking i made a good deal, drove and the truck went fine. Gave to an employee to work and i discovered they dont work in used trucks without the complete repair. The fully repair cost the same price as a new one lol. Or i did something wrong idk, im still discovering the update
@@dbclass4075 Does it make a difference for your workers? I mean, they just need a Truck, they won't break down or have any problems driving with a slightly damaged chassis or an engine thats a bit low on power , right? I've only ever bought really good condition trucks from the used section, but even that is something to be careful of- one I looked at, a good spec Mercedes Actros with 30k miles, was actually slightly more expensive than it would have been brand-new- 212k euros vs 204k from the Merc dealer. I ended up taking the barely-run-in, about-10%-off-list-price Daf instead and found it to be excellent
How often do the used trucks change in the used truck dealer? I always seem to end up with the same ones? Bought a used Volvo and it was trash, by the time you pay to repair it you could almost buy a new one.
Every couple of days in game, and it depends on if you've discovered at least one dealer from each manufacturer to see the whole lot. The used trucks are mostly discontinued models that aren't made IRL anymore like the Magnum
I unironically think that's a 10/10 concept. Part of the vehicle owning experience for me includes all the headaches of getting an old used one. I loved that gran turismo let you do that, but in a game with maintenance and mechanics elements like ETS2 it's even better. Though having to fully refurbish the truck to fix one issue sounds weird.
Yep,it is a total failure..I bought an used truck and the engine had 35% damage..I fixed the engine and it now has 0% damage but it keeps stalling every 3 minutes..In reality if an engine is at 0% damage it would work regardless of the condition of the other parts of the truck..
The used trucks are useful for the beginning, you can buy a truck with 30-40 000 dollars and fix it for like 12-20 000, and use it for 3/4 jobs (you will recover most of the money u invested in it so fast) or, you can buy them fix them and give them to employees,
Can only say ONE thing Truck and Logistic Simulator will be a big concurrent for ETS and ATS I was waiting for a game like this and its promising to be good
Truck & Logistics is definitely a better than a lot of trucking games apart from ETS and ATS. However, SCS Software really need a bigger competitior because right now I think these games are starting to stagnate.
Man, I am glad i can counter that bullshit with mods. I dont play for full realism, fun is more important for me. And you know, since I payed for all these trucks when I bought the game, removing the trucks (as a new & capable model and not a 2nd hand!) is unacceptable. Not to mention that it has nothing to do with realism, because as much as it is a Simulator, 2nd hand market is not a thing that should be forced on everyone. If someone needs that over excessive realism, that you cant get half of the trucks "new" anymore, but have to buy "2nd" hand now, thats fine. They should make that optional. First rule in games. If you want to make many players not happy with changes, rename to something like Activison or EA. But basically remove content (doesnt matter what you call it, its taking away options!) that without the use of Mods I cant get back, that sucks.
Thank you a lot for this video :D Stupid question : What is the impact of the permanent wear on the vehicle if you don't fix it (by total restoration). It doesn't seem attached to specific parts but only to the truck (chassis?) iteself, so I wonder how it shows/acts, if you don't fix it.
Permanent wear affects vehicle parts when it gets to 15 or 20%. For example this truck cannot use gears 11 and 12. Engine power is also reduced for engine wear and things like grip and braking distance are changed for the tires. The biggest issue I've found is that it counts as actual damage, and you can't quick travel if you have permamanent wear. Also it costs minimum 100k to remove permament wear on most trucks!
Renault Magnum, Premium, Scania R Euro 5, MAN TGX old model, DAF XF105, Iveco Stralis (not Hi-way) and even Volvo FH16 must be all of them on used truck dealers and not in showroom anymore since they are no longer also produced several years ago haha.
Just seeing this... vid, imo they should have Taking some ideas from their old 18 wheels of steel games when it comes to Used trucks Not the prices to buy said trucks, that actually seems really good in this game, but for repairing the trucks? It defeats the purpose of a used vehicle. I feel mega old talking about the 18 wheels of steels series... man i wonder how many people even remember it haha
These used trucks are great when using realistic economy. With the quick jobs you get €60 most of the time and very little xp. And it takes ages to be able to get a loan of 100k. So the used trucks are great if you get lucky with a truck that doesn’t cost to much but alright condition like 3 stars. I bought a Renault premium, a truck that I would never buy and it is a shitbox but I’ve learnt to love it.
I'm a bit confused as to why you bought a 1-star truck thinking a small price fix would make a difference, when the game quite literally tells you anything AT 3 stars or below is basically undriveable....Sounds like user error to me.
I’ve only just started playing this game 20hrs or so. I’ve found you can repair the secondhand trucks without a total restoration. Replacing the parts as you did. Maybe your game was glitched?
Im doing a profile with only trucks that are not on the dealers (used trucks, older models) and if you wait for a good deal you can get an amazing truck for less than 60k to start, even less, and after that if you want to go with the business model and add drivers you can get them trucks that are 30k and they are happy with them doing absurd amounts of money that pay up the used trucks in no time.
yeah, i bought a used Mercedes New Actros for maybe 50k engine made funny noises, but i put 50,000 km on it before trading it for a new Scania great deal on a solid truck.
You can choose the "splitter" gearbox option in the settings. That shifts 2 gears at once and you can flip between either 2 gears in the same position with another button
How you managed to get there with 100% damage I don't know. I tend to find the wheels wear out quickest and the damage number shown is the 'highest' number of all separate areas.
@@SimulatorAdventures maybe gear 11-12 didnt work because of the engine damage? you know the gearbox might be fixed but the engine just cant use them becasue its broken aswell
Might it be possible that the SUM of all damages define wether the engine stalls/shifter not working or not? For example: zero damage at all except the cabin has 70% -> engine stalls because of total damage. That would really be stupid. Just a thought. Cheers, Rodriguez Faszanatas
They good how they are its realistic you cant buy old trucks for new at a dealer anymore and used trucks are well used and broken often so obviously if you want an old model you need to restore and for sure thats expensive its like same for Cars in the real world if you want to have a new like old car you need a restoration and that often cost more then the cars worth .
Oh if that were true 😜 That's not how it works for used trucks, they all come with permanent wear which is impossible to fully remove without total restoration
@@SimulatorAdventures yes i figured it out after i wrote the comment😝 you can repair them so that they will still be reasonably whole, but not so that everything will be like new without restoring the truck😅
I don't even know if this is because my truck is used... But my truck's windshield wipers have started to turn on automatically. Even if it's not raining?! The truck have also started to shift down and up, almost all the time. Sometimes the game makes me automatically drive in 30km/h on a 80km/h road?? Please help :p
i bought a used scania r with 45k on the clock in this game and managed to get it full operational and it was only 85k to buy , i am on the way to save up to full kit it out
I think it’s useful for realistic economic mods and if you don’t wanna take out a loan. I am placing on realistic economy and Grinded myself up to 30.000 €. I would never buy a truck below 3 stars though
the best way to use this cheap truck is to replace only the engine, and maybe gearbox for high speed. which totaly cost 60k+ and it cant be fast travel its the only downgrade
Hey, I've been thinking about changing my thrustmaster t150 wheel to a logitech g27 with the shifter, and since you still use it, can you tell me if it is worthy?
It's still a good wheel. Works for me on Windows 11, and the shifter with buttons it has aren't available any more. If you can get a good condition one for about $150 (USD) or less I would recommend it.
At least it wasn't like my Kenworth T680 duty cabin that I bought in ATS. 1.3 million miles and only gears 1 to 5 worked and its engine was malfunctioning left and right. The reason why you couldn't get gears 11 and 12 is because you probably didn't map your shifter correctly. But otherwise great video mate
i tried with a volvo F16 700 hp 4 stars, on a similar route that involved passing the alps and had 3 full breakdowns and i ended up being late with the goods, so i sold that too and bought a new one instead
The star rating is a bit misleading. Pay more attention to permanent wear. Some trucks have 4-star ratings for almost no part wear, but high permanent wear.
Like you say it. That used trucks you must loock on the conditions. But what more interesting ist, was brings more? Buy a New one, or buy a Used Truck and repair it for good conditions. That Info i missed here. And when i even miss in ETS/ATS is a Damage modell. You dont see Scratches or even worse visual damage. You just have the Procent how much damaged your truck is. But you dont see it outside of the HUD. Just a warning on the Display. By the way HUD: how you got this type of HDU in the down-middel on the screen?
Yeah they need to rethink the damage model, I'm not too happy with the new repair system. The UI mod is called SiSL's Route Advisor, available on Steam.
@@SimulatorAdventures The new Repairsystem is crysis. Yea i understand the mechanics of wear, but so fast ist just bullshit. But I mean rehab: WHERE are the dents? WHERE are the scratches? WHERE is the missing sheet metal? I think this should be a near realistic simulation!
I bought a used truck , gave it to an employee. BOOM -82k€ , because somehow it cost 333€ /1km to operate the truck for the driver for one fucking trip. I was so pissed, sold the truck and fired the employee 😂
Well you taught me some interesting things about used truck as well as new trucks no longer selling the older builds :( which disappointed me a lil renault magnum has always been my favorite truck ever since i was a child haha and now i cant even get one brand new damn it. i did enjoy the video though was very entertaining.
Used trucks are actually OP. You just shouldn't drive them yourself. Give them to AI drivers, what their truck is has zero game impact. So used trucks actually brought variety to your fleet, because before the optimal was to put them all on the cheap Iveco. Now you just give them whatever is cheapest at the time
Used truck's are cool but need to fix a lot of things first you buy one for example if you change tyre's, gearbox or change the engine this has to be like new but once you do it still the same I buy one fix all the engine parts only have tires and cabin to fix and still give me engine problems
I found an interesting money trick in this used truck Business, you can get lot of money by downgrade the truck and sell it.and some interesting fact that your 1star truck can be 5 star again by upgrading the part that already wear, for example I buy volvo fh globetroter xl, 8x4 chassis, 600hp, 1star condition, just 2% permanent wear and around 30℅ at part wear and "JUST" 1.332 milage and it just cost me 112.873 and i downgrade it to very basic 4x2 chassis, sleeper cab, 420hp,and 2.64 gearbox and i get more than 80k in refund and i sell the truck for 97k.if you want to use this truck just look for 0% permanent wear because higher permanent wear will tear your part wear more fast.you can get around 100-400k a week from used truck bussiness.i really helped by this used truck bussiness because i use hard economic mod😁
I love the game is becoming more and more realistic. They can now even scam you

I bought Used Iveco and International in ETS2 and ATS and they work just fine
That's why Premium and Magnum is "end of support" to this game and become to used truck
Just seeing this... vid, imo they should have Taking some ideas from their old 18 wheels of steel games when it comes to Used trucks
Not the prices to buy said trucks, that actually seems really good in this game, but for repairing the trucks? It defeats the purpose of a used vehicle.
I feel mega old talking about the 18 wheels of steels series... man i wonder how many people even remember it haha
Yes it's a pretty bad system at the moment. I do remember 18 wheels of steel and that's how I got started on trucking games and sim games in general 😎
@@SimulatorAdventuresi do have hope they will fix it, even if it ends up years later as usual ahaha
Im doing a profile with only trucks that are not on the dealers (used trucks, older models) and if you wait for a good deal you can get an amazing truck for less than 60k to start, even less, and after that if you want to go with the business model and add drivers you can get them trucks that are 30k and they are happy with them doing absurd amounts of money that pay up the used trucks in no time.
yeah, i bought a used Mercedes New Actros for maybe 50k
engine made funny noises, but i put 50,000 km on it before trading it for a new Scania
great deal on a solid truck.
How can you shift 2 gears at once because I can only shift 1 gear I have the Logitech G29 steering wheel
You can choose the "splitter" gearbox option in the settings. That shifts 2 gears at once and you can flip between either 2 gears in the same position with another button
@@SimulatorAdventures Ah ok thank you 😊
@@Raphael-vh1wv No problem!
Try the Volvo that has about 50k to 80k
If the economy was anywhere near close to realistic, this would all be a lot more plausible, a lot more sensible, and far more common.
How do you get the bottom dashboard?
How you managed to get there with 100% damage I don't know. I tend to find the wheels wear out quickest and the damage number shown is the 'highest' number of all separate areas.
Tip: when buying used trucks for yourself and for your drivers, check that none of the percentages are ≥20%.
So even if you put a brand new transmission in you still have damage? I'm pretty sure that's not how that works irl. Seeing as this is a simulator.
Yeah that's correct. It's a pretty dumb system!
@@SimulatorAdventures maybe gear 11-12 didnt work because of the engine damage? you know the gearbox might be fixed but the engine just cant use them becasue its broken aswell
@@christianwagner7230 that could be it. I didn't know that engine damage affected it!
@@SimulatorAdventures it's just a guess but it wouldn't suprise me
Might it be possible that the SUM of all damages define wether the engine stalls/shifter not working or not? For example: zero damage at all except the cabin has 70% -> engine stalls because of total damage. That would really be stupid.
Just a thought. Cheers, Rodriguez Faszanatas
Just now i bought a 1 star truck for experimenting and to have more money. It was also a renault
Do u use vr? If yes, how did you enable zoom in whulr using vr? Also how did u move all the menu ui at the bottom?
Its called trackir thats how he moves his camera inside
did he use VR? how the F did he move the camera while both hand on Steering wheel?
They good how they are its realistic you cant buy old trucks for new at a dealer anymore and used trucks are well used and broken often so obviously if you want an old model you need to restore and for sure thats expensive its like same for Cars in the real world if you want to have a new like old car you need a restoration and that often cost more then the cars worth .
Imagine only paying 5k for a Truck 😂
You do not have to make a restoration on the truck, just click in the box where you choose what you want to repair
It's a ridiculous system, I hope they change it 😞
Can you please drop your steering wheel settings Thank you
how do you get those HUD under there?
I don't even know if this is because my truck is used... But my truck's windshield wipers have started to turn on automatically. Even if it's not raining?! The truck have also started to shift down and up, almost all the time. Sometimes the game makes me automatically drive in 30km/h on a 80km/h road?? Please help :p
There's a setting in the gameplay options for auto wipers. Try turning that off.
I would love to make the renault driving hight alot higher cause makes u king of the road interms of driving hight
where i can get custom license plates mod?
The problem with old trucks are the interiors who remained in 2012
i bought a used scania r with 45k on the clock in this game and managed to get it full operational and it was only 85k to buy , i am on the way to save up to full kit it out
I think it’s useful for realistic economic mods and if you don’t wanna take out a loan. I am placing on realistic economy and Grinded myself up to 30.000 €. I would never buy a truck below 3 stars though
I wish they would add this too ATS
They are! It will come in the next update for that game as well ☺️
the best way to use this cheap truck is to replace only the engine, and maybe gearbox for high speed. which totaly cost 60k+ and it cant be fast travel its the only downgrade
Used trucks are good for your fleet drivers
What if u join americon and euro truck simulator to gether with other countrys cool
3:26 oh my gyatt!!! 🍑
Dirt Rally would suit your style of driving a vehicle so much better...
You're not wrong 😹
I make sure it's at least a 3 star, and give them to my other drivers. Works great. Much cheaper.
And if you get the odd truck that they can't drive, just sell it back and buy another.
You can open your windows! Bru that.s so cool.
Bro how to add that info thing down the screen?
Gears 11 & 12 work fine in other trucks, it's not my shifter. I just don't think it's a very realistic way of portraying wear and tear on a truck.
@@SimulatorAdventures Oh ok but great video anyways 👍
@@WayneKerr69420 Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Hi I see you have the information bar at the bottom of your screen how do put it there ?is it a mod Cheers
That's SiSL's Route Advisor, available on the Steam workshop.
How did you get the phone on the windscreen with the map
That's the Cabin Accessories DLC
Old models can be bought new using My Fleet Configuration.
5 star used truck not that bad
Just change the wheel
For some reason used truck use most expensive wheel, idk why
Took like 12 jobs i dodnt need to buy the used truck but like old like it when the truck is a bit cranky
which kind of a steering wheel o you use?
Logitech G27
50 l/100km is too much? my truck is like 150 l/100km
2024 may 14 time was 1.50 update released.
Yeah I am new to the game and every used truck i've had was crap so now I got only new trucks, Mercedes for me and scanias for my two workers xdd
if you annoying damage, try no damage mod.
go for the ABSOLUTE cheapest that you can find at the used trurk dealers and do a job whit it whitout repairing the truck
i tried with a volvo F16 700 hp 4 stars, on a similar route that involved passing the alps and had 3 full breakdowns and i ended up being late with the goods, so i sold that too and bought a new one instead
The star rating is a bit misleading. Pay more attention to permanent wear. Some trucks have 4-star ratings for almost no part wear, but high permanent wear.
This video is the perfect example of the sentence “no shit”
sheeeeesh
well worn renault magnum | Asiimov
@@SimulatorAdventures
The new Repairsystem is crysis. Yea i understand the mechanics of wear, but so fast ist just bullshit.
But I mean rehab: WHERE are the dents? WHERE are the scratches? WHERE is the missing sheet metal? I think this should be a near realistic simulation!
@@maskeradedarkstar6632None of the manufacturers are willing to show any damages to their trucks. This is also apparent in car racing games too.
6 liters ... bro did u ever sit in a truck ? :D
How do you put your hud like that. I like it and i can t find how to do it
It's SiSL's route advisor mod available on the Steam workshop
@@SimulatorAdventures thanks a lot, i ve been searching for a long time
I bought a used truck , gave it to an employee.
Now you just give them whatever is cheapest at the time
Thanks for the tip!
Used truck's are cool but need to fix a lot of things first you buy one for example if you change tyre's, gearbox or change the engine this has to be like new but once you do it still the same I buy one fix all the engine parts only have tires and cabin to fix and still give me engine problems
You should race a used scania with a new iveco
What steering wheel you have
Logitech G27
@@SimulatorAdventures thank you
I found an interesting money trick in this used truck Business, you can get lot of money by downgrade the truck and sell it.and some interesting fact that your 1star truck can be 5 star again by upgrading the part that already wear, for example I buy volvo fh globetroter xl, 8x4 chassis, 600hp, 1star condition, just 2% permanent wear and around 30℅ at part wear and "JUST" 1.332 milage and it just cost me 112.873 and i downgrade it to very basic 4x2 chassis, sleeper cab, 420hp,and 2.64 gearbox and i get more than 80k in refund and i sell the truck for 97k.if you want to use this truck just look for 0% permanent wear because higher permanent wear will tear your part wear more fast.you can get around 100-400k a week from used truck bussiness.i really helped by this used truck bussiness because i use hard economic mod😁
Found the issue: it's a renault.
