Oh Mr. Ringworm you amaze me. Everything you do amazes me. Before my husband passed away September 3rd, we did everything outside like you're doing except we didn't do it with a chainsaw and we did have electricity here. We built our own house from the ground up. It sits on 13 poles, has two bedrooms and a great big front room. Living area and kitchen is all one area. We started it in 1999 to 2000 and lived in it without heat for a year and worked on it as we went. It's fun to do your own projects and work on your own things and build your own foundation. You simply amaze me with the talent that you have. When we first came out here we lived in a teepee for a year. Then we had a mobile home and then we started building our house. And you're doing this all by yourself too.
When I met Larry, he and his family lived in a garage while he built his house in northern Minnesota. They lived in a teepee for a year then in a mobile home while building a garage. The only difference is, he dug a basement under his house.
Dear Doctor Worm, That is one hell of a fine looking cabin. You can be proud of that for many, many years. Maybe trade a bathroom for a front porch depending upon your cold weather needs. In any case, BRAVO!
Love the way you did the boards on your cabin. Gives it more character. Like the black star chalking. Love your voice. It is so relaxing and calming. Love your humor.
God I love this channel. Build what you need eat what you want and have fun. Wouldn't it be better to crawl under the house and put insulation up under your floor without making large adjustments? You always say to think smart and don't forget the hot sauce! Lol
I’m a retired carpenter. Your building skills are pretty good. Your nomenclature knowledge isn’t the greatest but as long as you know how to build you don’t need to know the proper names for the members as long as you build by yourself unless your trying to explain your techniques to someone. Really enjoy watching your videos Ryan, but I wouldn’t want to live outside like you do. I know how cold it gets during winter, I live in Minnesota!
I have been using a jig saw for 30 years daily, I couldn't cut a nice circle, straight line ect.... until about 5 years ago. My Brother in law told me to slow the fu*** down, blade speed and motion, I am pretty darn good with one now. Thanks for the great content.
Looking sweet. I Think i would just trim the bottom of door before I would move the header. The air vents turned out amazing. Its not like somebody body going to get a ladder and check out your vents. Carry on.. Screened in front porch would just increase your living space.
Get you a blow torch hooked up to a propane tank and lightly burn your outside boards then lightly sand them before sealing. Will take a little more time but will look awesome 😎!
Agreed, R19 in between the floor joists. Cover with plastic or house wrap and since your in the woods, I would use a wire mesh under it to keep the chippies out.
When one door closes, another sometimes opens . . . After all that caulking the place will leak air mainly from those finger-sized soffit holes. Not sure what volume of air would have to be moved to create a whole-house resonance, but with a gang of friends over to man all the fingerholes something musical might happen. And you'd have a unique example of "playing house" . . .
Your biggest issue with drilling holes with the holesaw is moisture. I reverse the rotation once in a while to clear the teeth. Works pretty well. OR, get saws with fewer teeth. You mentioned it as I was thinking it. With winter and all that it brings knocking at the door, you should gather all your branches and trimmings and burn them before the snows come. *PROJECT IDEA; Make a Smoker/dehydrator! You've got nearly everything you need already milled, (scrap boards that can't be used on your structures)! Awesome job so far, love your videos, catch myself answering your questions or returning your greetings. You're living the dream!
Tito's got an aura for sure. That explains why you didn't sleep well lol All jokes aside, this is my favorite channel on TH-cam. I always look forward to your weekly videos.
Looks awesome! :) When you insulate the floor I did a simple thing that works great. Just put 1 inch or thicker rigid foam insulation down and nail or screw the finished floor boards right through it. Seals perfectly and uses very little ceiling space.
Thank you for the latest update! I spent four hours in my woods this morning and now I'm warm and toasty watching you do the same full time. Please keep making these videos, I hope you get funding for another year at Ringworm. I've got 33 acres and now I want to make a town sign for it.
Ryan, this is from your last Video, 6 days ago. Stanley Keith 6 days ago. Building is coming along Great. Maybe you can add a small front porch or overhang to the cabin Ryan. This would Help you keep the weather off the front door and steps. If you make a porch you could have a place to set and watch the world go by ! Screen in one would be nice also.
Now I'm squirming with anticipation of watching as that wide gap in the siding gets flooded with black caulk. Sure hope Ryan films it. It was good seeing Terryn again, I always enjoy his wisecracks. Thanks for the video Mr. Ringworm !!! 55.9K
It’s awesome to have followed you this long and watched all you’ve built …. I knew you would build a beautiful cabin ! … I like the mix of all you do … it’s nice to get to know a little bit about your vast knowledge on many subjects and I really enjoy how humble you are even though I know that you know how FKN smart you really are 🤣🤣🤣 you can’t fool me 🤣🤣🤣 we have much in-common …. I like your microscope usage as well …. Your channel is my favorite… I look forward to every Saturday 🏆😁
BEST part of the weekend! Ryan get you some chickens my man. You're always at the worm, and always making french toast 😆 Oh and goats for milk , they love eating brush and pine needles
I'm a general contractor, we often put doors in temporarily with screws on that brick mold casing, which we almost never use, one shim on the top hinge and a screw through to the jamb jack and they work perfectly until we have to take them out and install permanently. Works awesome, and stays watertight until it's time actually install it.
Greetings from Tehachapi CA, I truly appreciate your Vlogs. Keep them coming, I watch daily. You've been inspirational these past two years (Pandemic) 😷😕😉🤗😇 Best Regards, TTFN, Cheers
Hey love the work you’re doing. For the door you should raise it now. You can alway step over the threshold for a few until raising the floor. Way easier now! Peace!
A small covered porch would be nice before you get the steps in...maybe even screened in for a future summer project. Looking forward to each week's updates! Was recently near Naubinway....it's getting cold up there!!!
Can’t believe it hasn’t been mentioned before this, but as you were sinking the nails into the siding Ryan, I think Sasquatch passed through the trees in the background.
If you don't succeed you keep trying til you get what works for you. Love the roof caulk on the cabin. Can't wait to see the wood you get off the planer. Stay safe!
You’ve mentioned that you enjoyed caulking. Well, gotta share that watching you caulk was my moment of Zen for this week. Thanks, I needed that. Keep up the great work. Cabin is amazing!
I feel very comfortable listening to you & seeing what you are up to, your humour and demeanor remind me of Will Ferrell !? You made a template for your holes so you could have drilled through more than one board at a time, would have saved time & effort as the drill was 24" long.
Useful information here, thanks for sharing. Ive been following this build, looking forward to the stove install. Keep up the good work. My 2 cents is get some 1.5 or 2 inch rigid insulation panels and put them under the floor. At least temp for the winter. They will pay for themselves in the propane coat.
Love the channel. Love what you do. If you don't want to have move the door after, try this.........Insulate the floor from underneath. Put plastic under it to hold it in. Then put wood underneath. Your exsisting floor, would be your finished floor.
I love this videos! Thanks for being a very constant uploader, with really cool content, despite being in the middle of nowhere with no internet, no power, no nothing!!
Watching you chalk is so relaxing. Not quite as relaxing as watching paint dry. 😉 In truth, I really like you verbalizing your thought process. So far I would not change anything that you have done. I like the dark chalk on light wood look. what I am really looking forward to is how you finish the inside. All that beautiful cedar! I'm Jealous!! Great video!!
On your picnic table and work bench and all the furniture for the cabin, varnishing the surfaces will help prevent staining from spills. I also agree with adding insulation under the floor. After insulating use the wire screening below the insulation to help keep out the vermin. Adding a 1/8" thick foam sheet between your current floor and your nicer flooring you want to use is a good idea. It gives the floor a bit of cushion to help prevent squeaking floor boards.
What a work of art every piece is perfect I am very impressed with your patience and your artistic skills you are definitely an artist can’t wait to see you in the cabin nice and warm high and dry that should be very easy to heatThanks for taking me along God bless you be safe stay happy
There are some nice screws that you can use for wooden frames for windows and doors, they are so you can adjust the frame, they are for wooden frames and not American platstic frames. Make a gap 1/2 inch around window/door frame for soft insulation ex rockwool, now you can adjust your frames when you need that, no need for shims between the frame and the wall. Using spray foam can push your frames so they bend and get hard to open and to hard to adjust.
Ryan, how about a Spade Bit ? Harbor Freight tools are mostly made in China. ☹ Ryan, looks like the Woodpeckers🦅made those holes........🤣 screen is good to keep the 🕷🐛🐜🐝🪲🐞🦗🪰out! Keep one tube in your back pocket to keep in warm from your body heat. Ryan, will the Thomson water prof interact with the roof tar and may be make it run down the side of your boards. Great Job !

Such an awesome channel. Ryobi should sponsor you. A testament to durability of their tools
Chickadees are one of my favorite bird’s enjoy

Your front wall looks like an amusement park building. Love it.

And the older you get the more COLD sucks. 😬😖
@@faithrada woolen clothing from top to toe compensates fairly well. 🐑❤️🔥🐏
The warpatude around the door does resemble the event horizon of some kind of vortex. 🖖😎
Always a must to keep your caulk nice and warm

That power caulk gun is slick! Cabin looks awesome!
Saw sasquach in the woods behind you at 34:51 !
You might be a Disney princess, with all those birds landing on you😁
Cabin is off the ground, crawl underneath it and insulate between floor joists and then cover it with plastic and then wood.
Agreed, R19 in between the floor joists. Cover with plastic or house wrap and since your in the woods, I would use a wire mesh under it to keep the chippies out.
P
@trollolol nailing boards in crawl space one at the time on your back not my idea of fun!
If you have some left over Tyvek it works too, under the house.
Zactly!!

Great stuff, can't wait to see the finished cabin! I'm glad you got the caulking gun!
Cool Ryan. Don't forget your dog will need stairs, but know that building things for your dog is always a happy task.
Your biggest issue with drilling holes with the holesaw is moisture. I reverse the rotation once in a while to clear the teeth. Works pretty well. OR, get saws with fewer teeth.

Cabin looks great, I noticed when you were seating in the nails, someone walked behind you out in the woods.
The color contrast between the light siding boards and the dark caulking is very attractive.
Boy you’ve got the patience! I’d be throwing those things in the burn pile. You did a wonderful job looks good and definitely one of a kind.

It's great to build a house with your own hands

Ryan,, SAVE that beautiful floor.
Insulate underneath and then staple screen underneath to keep vermin and bugz out...
Great job on those vents! And the caulking is coming along very nicely! Keep up the great work!
A,ways great watching you making and corking looks very satisfying xxx
Given the length of your larger bit, I might have done them in batches . . . Your perseverance is impressive.

WAC A MOLE!!! Nothing like doing a job with the right tool!
When u first started hammering the nails in siding..I freaking seen sasquatch in the background lmao!!

Maybe milling out a couple of walkboards to use between two ladders would be a good idea.
Looking Awesome Ryan! Great job☺️

The cabin is looking great cannot wait for you to start on the furniture be happy be safe
4' wide by say an 18" or 24'" awning over the door would look cool my friend. Give the joint some more dimension. My 2 cents! Keep up the great work.
I enjoy your videos keep up the great work, the cabin is looking great I told my wife this is a good idea for a small cabin for us by a small pond
If you don't succeed you keep trying til you get what works for you. Love the roof caulk on the cabin. Can't wait to see the wood you get off the planer. Stay safe!
What's up Ryan, always good to see you.
You’ve mentioned that you enjoyed caulking. Well, gotta share that watching you caulk was my moment of Zen for this week. Thanks, I needed that. Keep up the great work. Cabin is amazing!
Good Morning. Looks amazing! You have talent and skill. Can't wait to see it finished.
Great too see you up and building
Everything's looking so great! That black tar/calk is stunning. You're going to be in pretty good shape come winter. HOORAY!
Some small round cedar would look cool as the corner trim.
I feel very comfortable listening to you & seeing what you are up to, your humour and demeanor remind me of Will Ferrell !? You made a template for your holes so you could have drilled through more than one board at a time, would have saved time & effort as the drill was 24" long.
Some say the Seussian branch of architectural design was created by a dude after he’d lived in a tent in the boonies for two years.
34:49, best sighting of Sasquatch so far!
Well done, I like it too.
Ryan, looks nice. Take Care
Useful information here, thanks for sharing. Ive been following this build, looking forward to the stove install. Keep up the good work. That is a thing of beauty. What a beautiful man cave, your lovely lady will like it too. Rock on dude, fantastic build , mad skills, super fun !
He was “in awe” of the “sag” on the front. Does that make it “Sag-in-aw” Michigan?
Looks like the woodpeckers have been all over that place. :)
Ingenious, if more people were like you we’d be in a lot less debt lol.
That caulking looks amazing. Great job😊
I love this videos! Thanks for being a very constant uploader, with really cool content, despite being in the middle of nowhere with no internet, no power, no nothing!!
You're doing a bang up job on that cabin. Gonna be toasty warm this winter.
From MN, my wife & I vacationed in the UP this year. Nice country.
Live edge corner trim👍🏼
Looks better and is functional!
Hello from the Netherlands .
thanks for the video Ryan .
Sincerely, Hollandduck

insulate your floor from the underside, not the floor. use Rockwool and board it up or wire mesh to keep out pests.

Routed cedar siding looks terrific! Would love to see you get insulated floors in before winter. Primo vids, Ringworm. Cheers!
For some reason i enjoy watching the caulking never did try out battery caulk gun now i have to get one
Looking good! Trimmer out, and love that caulk gun!
keep it up....enjoying your videos
Try two live edges opposite each other for the corners with a 45 deg cut at the joint that might look great
you convinced me to get a ryobi caulk gun, and planer
@ 26:00 ~ That appears to be a perfect bug hotel! Spiders and web makers will have those quickly plugged! *hope not tho, you worked hard for that. :)
Pull the foam weatherstrip out of the jamb leg and place your screws there. Once weather strip is back they are hidden.
Your tiny house is awesome!
You did good! Just 3 holes of that size in each board would have been plenty for venting.
There are some nice screws that you can use for wooden frames for windows and doors, they are so you can adjust the frame, they are for wooden frames and not American platstic frames. Really enjoyed this one... I must be a Caulking Groupie...
I'd also like to see what Kito Corleone is doing - but perhaps you're saving this...

ya got plenty of room underneath , why not fit 4" polystyrene board between the joist and hold in place with 2x1" battens ?
We used to cut "V" notch out of the top, generally three.
