I just grabbed a 501E live display for my basement/game room. Been watching videos about vending since I am a complete noob. The programming is difficult. Adjusting for cans and bottles is tricky. I got Hint water bottles which are a odd shape to work just fine. Didnt have to replace the shims.
Good video. I will keep an eye on the motherboard. Maybe buy a spare just to have.
I only run Dixie Narco 501E machines. Absolute workhorses!

Yes, a bit more complicated and less "user friendly" than the Vendos, but nonetheless still a well built, great machine. I've been using DNs (501Es & 276Es) for decades with very, very few problems, and they've all paid for themselves many times over. There's still DNs from the early 80s (non MDB) out in the field still cooling the beverages perfectly with the original refrigeration decks!
Peter, I am interested in getting started with vending machines and the dixie narco are heavily available in my area. If you are open to it, I would very much enjoy getting in touch with you and discussing your experiences over the last few decades with vending machines.

I had to buy a Dixie 501e as a replacement for my Royal 10... and yes the 501e is too cumbersome to move from cans to bottles. In the Royal, I’d just throw in bottles or cans at will and no problems. Though, knock on wood, the 501e has been reliable.
Personally I'm a big fan of Wittern equipment. Love your videos Hill. I've been watching for a while. Just put 17 machines on new locations in the last few months and I've been thinking about getting back into making videos
I have 1 question about your boards. Have you heard of ESD handling? If you are handling a bare board without being grounded, you will unknowingly damage the sensitive parts on the board (this is why it comes in the silver package to protect against static shock). When you handle a board without being grounded, likely it may still work, but over time the damaged part will weaken to the point of failure. That can last from months to a year or so. Side note: During assembly, if someone does handle a board without following ESD handling procedures, the board will be scraped and likely the worker will be reprimanded. That's how serious companies that build those parts take it. If handled correctly, you should not have any problems with your electronic parts.
I have a Vendo 511 and out of 10 years I’ve only had two or just stay out of order switch twice love the machine

all my soda machiens are dixie narcos and they are workhorses 2 of them are single price machines but never any problems

I have seen your demo on the vendo 721 and like how they operate. Do you know if the 821 functions the same and the only difference is size and capacity? I have the chance to buy an 821 for my son for his first machine.

My Dixie Narco 501 is showing "sold out" on two columns but they are full. Is it just the switch?
Most likely yes. The switch will be your 1st thing to troubleshoot, then for any broken or shorted wire, then your board will likely be the last thing to troubleshoot. Since you posted 3 mo ago, did you ever fix it?
@@pjackson8322 hey man i noticed that you seemed pretty knowledgeable and I was wondering if you could take a minute to help me set mine up. I recently set the prices fine but when they are selected they say vend and I hear a few noises but nothing comes out. 2 of the sections do work so i’m really just lost.
@@adamkaiser3275 sounds like the settings on your dials and/rod rod position is not right to the bottle or can. Also make sure your shim is correct for the bottle or can you're vending.

I'm confused, Adam, in previous vids you've raved on & on about the positive aspects of Dixie Narco. Now, all of a sudden you've done a complete 180---what gives? How much does Vendo pay you to plug their machines (over other machines)? Sorry for being such a skeptic, but whenever I see such a blatant turn-around like you've done, I see "kick-back" written all over it. What your viewers need from you (& Hill Vending) is FULL DISCLOSURE, Adam.

You are doing a disservice to the vending industry. If you say the 501E is a bad machine. I am a Vendo distributer and even I can respect a 501E. It is probably one of the most produced machines in the market as well as one of the most versatile. I do believe the V721 is a better machine but it is going to cost considerably more as well. The DN501E is a great lower price option and you should not steer your customers to a higher price machine just to take more of their money. You should tell them the pros and cons and the pricing and let them make their own mind up. You may as well as say the F150 is no good buy a Chevy. I do have a preference but they are both good trucks. You cant just knock one because you like the other, that's just bad business.
