That Honda civic is one of the worst cars when it comes to reliability. I've driven one for years. What is reliable? The engine. All the rest is rubbish. Even the gas tank rusted through and needed to be fixed and an axel broke. Steering was bad from the beginning on. Hell no!
A toyota / Lexus hybrid is actually missing some parts like a startor or alternator, some belts, and certainly does not have all the emissions stuff that the diesels have. Yes it does have electric motors but they are very reliable and make the petrol engine more reliable as well due to less strain. And no clutch, and the automatic gearbox has a lot less parts.
@Zombie Head Of course Japanese cars require maintenance. It's just that they don't break down on you as easily, and they require less maintenance usually.

Because they are technically, different cars by different makers. Sure they're actually the same, but different on paper. It's like many Audi's, VWs, Seat's and Skoda's.
cfg_Forumic just on paper, technically totally not. so don’t tell me something that I didn‘t knew already. they are even completely the same from the in and outside
You know, thats the thing with all those lists. You can buy Lexus Rx and get many problems. It depends from a lot of things, one of which may be the pricing itself. I mean Skodas must be cheaper, so maybe it usually ends up in companies, while Vw may be mostly bought by individuals, who generally cares for their cars more since it is theirs, not someones. Its always hard to monitor such things, because there is a lot of various repair shops etc
I wondered that myself. That said, they both had the same most expensive problem. The clutch. And I wonder if they have more Citgos on their books, thus more to go wrong, thus the lower ranking...
To add to this, in Germany there was a study about which cars have the least crashes and deaths and the Lexus RX won there as well. The unfortunate thing about the older RXs is the high fuel consumption though
Love this! Can we please get one purely on luxury cars as they generally have a reputation of being unreliable so would be good to see which ones are considering the amount of money you spend to buy them
Volvo 740/940 is the most bulletproof drift cars I ever had & have, drifted daily with my 940 and tortured it everyday for 6 months before selling it, used to cold start it and rev limit it for 2-3min cold to make it warm fast for fun, never had a single issue. and I crashed in almost 60mph with it, just turned the key and went off with minimal damages.
Great video. Professional and easy on the eye. Just my two cents. I've had Mitsubishi's and Nissan's before that were pretty much bullet proof. Since merging with Renault their reliability has gone to hell.
@@joseenriquejoson1994 Might be a coincidence but since merging with Renault, Nissan has had nothing but problems. Renault used to be bullet proof cars. Not anymore.
Mazda 2 here always have a problem of electric problem in a car, such as more USB charges (I mean at least 2), radio start malfunction along with air conditioner
With this list you can see just how better cars from Japan really are. Other entries are mostly simple/cheap cars where not much CAN go wrong. RAV4 and Lexus models have tons of gadgets and are complex compared to an average car and yet not many problems.
I’m a Merc/Audi man. (AMG fan) But I must say, I’ve owned a JZA80 Supra years Ago and it was bullet proof. The 6-spd getrag is renowned to withstand being bolted to 10 sec cars. Also the 2JZ-GTE is one of the most finest and over engineered inline 6 engines to ever come out of Japan that takes mods like a fat man takes cake.
You are the only channel which is entertaining me. (Im not lying)😄 Can you make this video?: Things we will miss at cars in the future like manual handbrake, manual gearbox and other.
I own a Lexus CT200h and I can testify that there have been no issues since I bought it. I just do a regular oil change on time and it runs like a dream! Which is awesome!! - Best reliable brand ever!
I used to own a 2004 Lexus RX and that car had so many mechanical problems, I had to engine swap the motor and the engine came from a Toyota Camry. That engine swap didn’t even do it any help. So I sold the Lexus RX and got myself a Toyota Land Cruiser. Never regretted it and never will. Love hearing that big v8 in the morning.
2015 Nissan Note has given me no problems. You did a video a while back on the most reliable cars for less than £150 per month and the Note was #1. I still have it. Thanks Mat!❤️
Me as a Canadian : Mitsubishi ASX? Honda Jazz? Tha hell are those name xD In north America it's the Mitsubishi RVR and Honda Fit Never understood why they change the name of a car depending on the country
Our 2005 Jazz was very reliable engine wise but cost us a fortune in gearboxes, wheel bearings, engine mounts, break pads, light globes, batteries, spark plugs, the list goes on.
@russel bell you cant class brake pads, wheel bearings, spark plugs & batteries etc as a fault. They are wear and tear and will need replacing regardless at some point.
I am the driver of a used 2015 Nissan Leaf. It has proven very reliable. The only repair I take it in for are the tires. For a used electric car costing less than $10,000 dollars, I think I got a great deal.
I own the most reliable vehicle that has served me for the last 17 years with almost zero maintenance. - It doesn't have internal combustion engine. Instead, it uses some complex reaction of proteins, fat and carbohydrates as fuel. - Two wheels means it's more economical than four. - Doesn't have complex electrical systems The only problems with it are the drivetrain that would sometimes disengage or leaking tires on an unlucky day.
I do 25000 miles a year in my honda civic 2010. Can honestly say apart from the odd rattling noise, breaks and wheels that cost me £100 to repair its cost me nothing else. I went abroad for 2 months and got a new car for a present. Didnt start the civic for 4 months. It started striaght away no issue. Wow that car is alive im telling u.
@@brayton6683 I agree. My dad got a Freelander in 2014. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun car to drive and very comfortable. But it's also an unreliable piece of crap. It's been in the workshop more times than my 2008 Citroen C3. And for more severe reasons to boot.
Reliability isn't related to cost to fix, but if you want to weigh in the severity of fault by repair bill, then it should be also weighted with the price of the cars.... expensive cars are expensive to fix, doesn't make them less reliable. A brake on a Porsche costs half a Suzuki Alto....
They brought the EcoSport into Canada, nobody is buying them and they are sitting on lots. Our equivalent of the Vauxhall Mokka, HRV, and CHR sell much more
My 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage/Space Star 1.2 CVT has now 100.000 km on the clock. Zero defects. Not even a light bulb broke. No rattles even. No rust. Still Original brakes/brake liners. Almost zero oil consumption. I only had to invest 2 tyres, 5 wiper blades, fuel (5 l/100km). 10 liters of whiper fluid and normal yearly maintenance (averageing 300 Euro per year).
From a legal perspective, you might want to be careful putting out Photoshopped images of a BMW vehicle (or any other auto manufacturer) on fire. Jussayin. 👍😎
I own a C1 and twice i have had repairs done, first was a track rod end 40 quid inc the mot and tracking. second was for a rear box and a rear shock, 128 quid inc mot. i replaced the front discs myself, 34 quid for discs and pads. not bad for a car that cost 1 quid for the raffle ticket
Come on. Corolla and civics are reliable but it drives like shit. Loud road and wind noise, shaky, rattles, cheap interior, lousy speaker system. Get a accord or camry if u can.

One day they will find the missing link in the glove box friom the Jazz archelologists dig out of the earth. By then of course it will take 3 turns to get it started on the starter motor.
We have a Pilot, Cr-V, and an accord and 0 issues between all of them between routine maintenance
I own an ASX and can definately say that this a reliable car. It’s not the most comfortable or quiet car. But after installing a custom made seat (i am 1.98 m) and an after market double din radio it suits my needs. Cheap to run also. 17 km on 1 litre.
Do I dare say it? I've got a 207 and it has proven more reliable than my previous car, which was a Mercedes Benz C Class!
Hyundai i10 2014 2nd gen is a great reliable little car! I've had mine for 3 years and it's a great little work horse. I do keep the services up every 10,000 miles so that obviously helps.
Yes and thats the key to get a reliable car. Alot of cars can be reliable if you dont skip maintenance schedule
Long live reliable cars! They keep my wallet fat and healthy!

I've had 3 cars so far, currently driving a volvo v60 2013 D4 AWD. I've had 0 problems with it, it really is a wonderful car.
when i started watching the video i knew it would be in the top 3 lexus / toyota and honda ..
SPOILER ALERT: Mat's new car is Mercedes A45
We knew that, because on Instagram he asked about the spec.
Unreliable init
@@doodieberry8788 at least much more reliable than BMWs and even Audis according to his previous videos
WRONG,it is the A45s 😉,trust me that S makes quite a bit of difference
as a proud owner of Honda Jazz i can tell u this car is really great and fun to work on for ur project car or any beginner car enthusiast! and to be included on the top 15 on most reliable car i am happy and honored to be bless with this car!
My 1970 Chevy C10 with pretty much all original parts. Still running like a champ 💪
The Sandero coming on 4'th place, and it cost atleast half the price the others do ! :)) bargain ....
In finland we have yearly inspection like mot and the dacias has the highest fail%
James May: *happiness noises*
mikke jalonen probably because the drivers of Dacia’s have little knowledge about cars or just don’t care about maintaining them.
@@mikkejalonen9050 😕😕😕 don't know, depends on how you use them to. Maybe those dacias are the old models, and they're over...

I was waiting for Scotty Kilmer to make an appearance at the end, laughing "Those German cars are endless money pits.. My 94 Celica...hell, still runs like a dream." :) :) :)
That depends if they are looked after properly, ive had 2 and both were money pitts
uhm the škoda citigo and vw up are the exact same cars, why do they have two different places on this list? doesn’t makes sense🤦🏼♂️
My Fiat Panda with Fire motor never stops. Once the timing belt broke down and the motor was repaired in 20 min.. Fantastic!!
Love these vids. Great work mat
6:20 The UP exclamation mark
Great video. Professional and easy on the eye.
Just my two cents.
I've had Mitsubishi's and Nissan's before that were pretty much bullet proof.
Since merging with Renault their reliability has gone to hell.
Wait, u blaming Renault because of what happened to Mitsubishi and Nissan?
@@joseenriquejoson1994
Might be a coincidence but since merging with Renault, Nissan has had nothing but problems.
Renault used to be bullet proof cars.
Not anymore.

With this list you can see just how better cars from Japan really are. Other entries are mostly simple/cheap cars where not much CAN go wrong. RAV4 and Lexus models have tons of gadgets and are complex compared to an average car and yet not many problems.
DACIA Sandero it's the best reliable car for the price !
I’m a Merc/Audi man. (AMG fan)
But I must say, I’ve owned a JZA80 Supra years Ago and it was bullet proof.
(Im not lying)😄
Can you make this video?: Things we will miss at cars in the future like manual handbrake, manual gearbox and other.
Waleed172HD so true
I own a Lexus CT200h and I can testify that there have been no issues since I bought it. I just do a regular oil change on time and it runs like a dream! Which is awesome!! - Best reliable brand ever!
I used to own a 2004 Lexus RX and that car had so many mechanical problems, I had to engine swap the motor and the engine came from a Toyota Camry. That engine swap didn’t even do it any help. So I sold the Lexus RX and got myself a Toyota Land Cruiser. Never regretted it and never will. Love hearing that big v8 in the morning.
7:16 GOOD NEWS!!! ITS THE NEW DACIA SANDERO
YAAAAY, now, the Mercedes AMG Black😂😂
Great!, now moving on....
I’ve realised that a lot of these cars are small
My cousin’s Lexus RX actually did go wrong. It caught on fire!
A real bisexual petrol-head man you really like that “I bet you want to murder him” line don’t you? Are you trying it out or is that a keeper?
I've liked RXs. My family has had three of them with no issues, starting in 2004
I don’t want to murder them tho
They are one only company I have
2015 Nissan Note has given me no problems. You did a video a while back on the most reliable cars for less than £150 per month and the Note was #1. I still have it. Thanks Mat!❤️

How come car insurance in the UK covers repairing faulty parts of the car? In Singapore, car insurance only covers accident claims and nothing else.
Me as a Canadian :
Mitsubishi ASX?
Honda Jazz?
Tha hell are those name xD
In north America it's the Mitsubishi RVR and Honda Fit
Never understood why they change the name of a car depending on the country
Try selling Mitsubishi Pajero in Spanish countries.
Our 2005 Jazz was very reliable engine wise but cost us a fortune in gearboxes, wheel bearings, engine mounts, break pads, light globes, batteries, spark plugs, the list goes on.
@@bellanr56 damn you got a lemon unit man. I had a 2009 fit, only changed the fluids and tires and gave it to my friend and still going strong.
@russel bell you cant class brake pads, wheel bearings, spark plugs & batteries etc as a fault. They are wear and tear and will need replacing regardless at some point.
@@mitchellrust8439 the guy spelt it 'break pads', it tells you everything you need to know.
"File a claim"
Toyota and Honda: "Wtf is that?"
I am the driver of a used 2015 Nissan Leaf. It has proven very reliable. The only repair I take it in for are the tires. For a used electric car costing less than $10,000 dollars, I think I got a great deal.
My 1999 Nissan Primera which I have had for almost 12 years is incredibly reliable.
Was waiting for this video for so long
Thanks Matt!
Now waiting for the most unreliable cars - lets go Germany!
You mean France
I own the most reliable vehicle that has served me for the last 17 years with almost zero maintenance.
- It doesn't have internal combustion engine. Instead, it uses some complex reaction of proteins, fat and carbohydrates as fuel.
- Two wheels means it's more economical than four.
- Doesn't have complex electrical systems
The only problems with it are the drivetrain that would sometimes disengage or leaking tires on an unlucky day.
Hey Mat (with one 'T') please make a list of cars you've owned, and would like to own.

I went abroad for 2 months and got a new car for a present. Didnt start the civic for 4 months. It started striaght away no issue. Wow that car is alive im telling u.
My neighbors have the Chevrolet Spark and they are at the garage every month with a problem. Is it so reliable then?
The thing is this is only with warranty wise and not every car has this so yeah there are a limited number of samples.
Well there is always gonna be some that arent reliable
Maybe they are getting screwed over by their garage?
Aylin I always see a Toyota Aygo when they get a loan car haha.
