Porsche being the 2nd worst and fiat being in the top 10 is honestly really surprising to me. Things are almost the opposite in the US. According to consumer reports Porsche is the most reliable brand (if not top 3) and fiat has been the least reliable brand for awhile now.

Best thingis that parts for both brands are made in the same company, so this is surprise. Unfortunately jlr parts are made in china and sent over to uk to fit to the cars

@@karankaler8777 I love my L322, but it remains a car with a lot of issues. The technic and built quality isn’t what you can expect from a car with a pricetag that high. And having the image off being expensive and therefor people want one, so others think the owner is rich. But you have 3 types of LaRo owners, a rich one, the brand enthusiast and the poser. Often the second or third owner is the poser. Can just afford to buy the car, but don’t spend any on maintenance. And being a car with low built quality big things will break down. But even new ones will break down. So the overall reliability is very poor in the end. I am an enthusiast of the brand, especially the Full Fat Range Rover and the Defender. But that’s the only way you going to spend your last penny on an used Land Rover. If you are sensible, don’t buy a used (out of warranty) Land Rover.
@Max Cracker probably Hondas in UK are mostly manual, and in US they're mostly automatic. Generally speaking manuals are more realiable and cheaper to fix, so it makes sense that the manufacturer with the most reliable engines wins.
Some of the Mazdas in this time frame are still built with Ford and other manufacturer parts, especially drive train (engine and transmission). Since about 2015, after Mazda left Ford ownership/partnership, Mazda's are pretty much entirely using in-house tech.
Anyone who knows more than zero about cars. Japanese have been the most reliable cars for decades. Germans just care more about fit and finish and the "appearance" of quality.
@@1Dustin Try to say that to a dude that just bought a new BMW lol, when i asked on a BMW site of their opinion on the B48 and B58 engines in the Supra. And when i asked them about their reliability, how much it cost to repair and shit, many of them were like "BMW Makes the best engines in the world! Ive had 15 of them and never had a single problem!", as soon i asked why he had 15 he stopped responding... lol. Then i get called a Toyota fanboi when i asked if the BMW engine can be considered as reliable as a Toyota... Many BMW owners are very sensitive...
Surely you didn't buy a German car expecting reliability though? You buy them for nice materials (except BMW), decent handling, good engines, great exterior design and a brand image that's a bit ridiculously overhyped at this point but nonetheless has its appeal.
@greeniz Audi has the best quality and technology there was a list. Bmw placed behind and Merc placed 5 in quality and 7 in technology. Bmw placed first on multimedia systems.

AS someone who used to work in a Chevrolet dealer here in the UK, i can say that the Spark was a reliable little car. The Lacetti was reliable, except just before it became 3 years old, when the steering rack needed replacing under manufacturer warranty.
average repair cost $1,89 but it breaks 3 times a day so you are late everywhere and with oily hands, they are built like shit from the factory by drunk workers eyeballing and guesstimating tolerances from rusty sheet metal
Back in the 90’s, my parents used a Lada Riva Estate 1500 as a load-lugging workhorse for their business. In comparison with other average vehicles of the day, it was not as slow as people pretend. Fit and finish was shite, styling was non-existent, comfort could’ve been better, also could’ve been worse, but it was utterly reliable. In the ten years that my parents had it, there was one problem. The rotor arm for the ignition system threw a bolt, smashing the distributor cap in half, despite this, the car still ran on three cylinders to get home.
In recent consumer reports though, mazda is ahead of honda, toyota and Lexus. Toyota is still ver close behind but honda started using CVT transmission and the new toyotas aren't really reliable as before.
I dont get it's why so many people aren't aware of the fact that this comes from a (probably relatively small) insurance company... They won't rank cars that are expensive to fix on top of the list. They want you to drive the cheapest car to repair because then they'll make the most profit. Reliability also doesn't come from the average cost to repair. Reliability is about how many cars broke down and that's never mentioned in the video... I'm a bit disappointed in Matt that he does such misinforming videos, but he and carwow are probably getting good money for this...
Just shows how wrong Car Wows Data is. If you look at Consumer Reports and TÜV Reports Fiat almost always ranks last. Meanwhile Porsche always comes in in the Solid Middle Field, most of the Time in the Top 10.
@@questionyourself718 I mean it is just the methodology of this "study" which leads to these limitations. I mean if you have a cheaper car, it is also very likely that you don't even repair minor problems, while when having a 200k sportscar, you want it to be perfect thus you repair EVERYTHING. I really prefer the longevity tests in which specific cars are taken down after a for example 100.000km and checked for wear and tear.
From a plethora of sources in Australia, this list would seem fairly accurate except for Fiat and Ford who would be further down the list. What it basically confirms is that Japan and Korea are much better at screwing a car together than the Europeans and Americans. Pity that the list did not include Jeep and Dodge who would have made Land Rover look excellent for reliability.
Actually, Rolls Royce is the most reliable 'brand' in the world, is the only manufacturer who gives to his owners a 8 year warranty "12 if you follow the manual", all Rolls Royce are handmade and checked before they go to the street, every part of the car is signed by the person who made it "If that part is bad or in bad conditions, the worker has to assume the responsability of that" there is a saying in Rolls "If a part of the car needs 4 screws, we put there 16", they even have workers for cheking if seat threads are allright, imagine, if other manufacter need 2 workers doing something about a car, they put in the same situation 4 workers, they hardly ever cut on expenses. Rolls Royce doesnt appear in any reliability list because they made less than 100 cars per year, do you think when you pay 400k for a car you are paying only the brand? Hell no! Greetings from Spain!
@@RJaviALR What is your source for that 12 year warranty because I can only find a 4 year factory warranty on the official website of Rolls Royce. Perhaps Rolls Royce offers an extended warranty option, but honestly; all major manufacturers have that these days. Plus; I have no doubt that Rolls Royce's building quality is better than it's rivals, but that also means parts are much more expensive to replace (especially genuine Rolls Royce parts), plus; luxury cars these days are all about having the latest technical gadgets. These are things that become outdated and break usually rather fast. That is also why all the modern luxury cars have such a low reliability score compared to a cheap but basic Toyota.
@@daile8799 It's a nice pleasant driving experience. The engines are the smoothest feeling. Probably has something to do with how long they last. You can just feel how well put together the car is. Even at way past 100,000 miles. Had an Acura at 278,000 feel and drive perfect.
I bought a Toyota Camry a few months ago so I feel pretty secure and happy with my purchase as it was between Toyota and Honda so I’d have made out good either way.

It isn't just about how reliable the car is in terms of how seldom it breaks down but also repair costs. Also 1 out of 3 old fiat 500 is still on the road. What other car company has 1/3rd of any model on the road out of which the YOUNGEST is 35 year olds? The bad rep of Italian cars stems from a disastrous production of Alfas which used Russian steel and rusted like nothing. And finally if a seat does not have electric seats they can't break and you don't have pitstop drawing down the average for the brand.
Yep. My friend’s 2016 Toyota Corolla broke last week. Had to tow it and the repair costed him 1000$ at a shitty mecanic. So much for the Toyota reliability :) (68 000 km)...
My neighbour has owned her Yaris Verso from new (20 years) with no trouble. Going back further, a friends grandfather had his Carina 2 from new in 1985 until well into the 2000's trouble free. Same story with my great aunts 1977 Celica she drove from New into the 2000's trouble free.
I bought my Civid 1.6 dtec from new in 2013 and 96500 miles later it has never missed a beat and does not burn a drop of engine oil. A brilliantly engineered car.
As someone who drives a new VW. I am just like....Well at least we are not bottom of the barrel unrealiable.......heh he ehh. THANK GOD I am leasing it. RIP all the second hand 80000+ KM buyers though. At least they are nice until they start breaking. I don't like it that VW is ranking low, but you got to face reality when it is there, even if you like a brand. And since most brands did a get a 60-70% rating you could (sadly) say that most VW brands did averagely well. but the fact that 60-70% is almost the norm, says a lot about general reliability I guess.
VW's reliability is pretty average I'd say. Got no clue where that perception of them being horrible comes from, seems to be a thing on the internet only.
For the price of a new golf (basic 27.245 euro) you can get a new Lexus CT200h (basic 27.400 euro). When fully loaded, the lexus comes at least 2k cheaper. Less consumption, bigger engine, more power, reliable, way more comfortable and the build quality is superior.
Yes, Honda! Have two of them, Civic and CR-V. Very reliable, economical and reasonably fun cars. My older CRV I owned for more than 10 years with 150000 miles and had no issues other than a AC compressor clutch. Replaced it with a new CRV, also a fantastic car.
I think the car's reliability also waries on how you treat the car. My dad has a 2007 Audi A4 1.9 tdi and it's Got 200.000 miles on it. And the only thing that is broken is the glovebox😁
I have an old Crv 2004 facelift, and that old car did have some problems like leak, door hard to open, but those things are not often happening. That old car is reliable and it's still good for long travel... Happy for my old Honda ❤
Can confirm the Lexus ranking, having previously owned a 2004 RX330 (totaled one an accident) and currently owning a 2011 RX350 and a 2016 IS300 F-Sport, I can tel you firsthand that they’re remarkable reliable. Never had an engine problem. The old ‘04 RX330 once had a bad alternator after about 270k miles, but other than that they’ve never broken once. Even the ‘11 RX350 with 250k miles hasn’t had anything go wrong. The ‘16 IS300 F-Sport is barely even broken in at 52k miles, and hasn’t even been to the shop for maintenance yet!
Remember that the quality of the car matters, but also the drivers. Certain brands attract certain people who drive in a certain way. Insurance company’s know this because some cars are more expensive to insure than others, not only because the probability of breakdown, but also probability of a crash. Since some brands are more likely to crash, they are probably driven more aggressively and therefore will break down more often, even if the quality is good. Something to keep in mind.
agree. if you got a 300hp+ car you probably want to make use of all that horsepower every now and then. cars beyond a certain amount of money become a status symbol, to people its more than a car, its to show off their place in society and that does include showing off the capability of the cars. somebody who buys toyota or honda, brands who exclusively sell affordable cars, do not care about such thing. you dont buy a prius to brag about it
This is REALLY weird... In Germany we have the bi-annual TUEV checkup for every car; every year there's a "TUEV Report" for sale at the newagents', which, in addition to giving the pros and cons for each individual model, also has vast tables for each year of first registration, ranking the cars by reliability. Each year FIAT and Dacia "fight" for the places at the very bottom of those tables. [Must be that FIAT simply can't build left-hand-drive cars. 😉]

While this is actually quite good at giving you a rough idea of the benefits / drawbacks of these brands...we have to remember that there are an exponential number of variables that come into play that can significantly impact the decisions and ratings given. E.g: - Which cars are / aren't chosen - Model variations within a make - Driver-induced issues vs. Wear-tear - Total number of cars for each make - Representation across all fleet - Factors determining reliability - Warrantywise's sponsors!

The new discovery had a commonly known issue with freezing intercoolers breaking the turbos, and the manufacturers answer to us was along the lines of “yes good sir we know this is quite an unpleasant thing to happen in the middle of the winter out in the forest in the extreme cold but not to worry, we will sort you out with a new turbo at the totally reasonable price of 4000£”. I will leave this story here and not touch on the other LR’S or our JAGs as this message would never end. Yet once again we find ourselves at the dealership looking for a new Landy. You know you live in a weird time when Alfa Romeo ranked higher than Porsche.....
Alfa Romeo has improved reliability incredibly in recent years. One of the most reliable luxury European brands now.

Land Rover: least reliable car in the list
Bentley and Rolls Royce:we got a pass!

Perhaps Rolls Royce offers an extended warranty option, but honestly; all major manufacturers have that these days. These are things that become outdated and break usually rather fast. That is also why all the modern luxury cars have such a low reliability score compared to a cheap but basic Toyota.

While this is actually quite good at giving you a rough idea of the benefits / drawbacks of these brands...we have to remember that there are an exponential number of variables that come into play that can significantly impact the decisions and ratings given.
E.g:
- Which cars are / aren't chosen
- Model variations within a make
- Driver-induced issues vs. Wear-tear
- Total number of cars for each make
- Representation across all fleet
- Factors determining reliability
- Warrantywise's sponsors!
there are 500 other parameters not in this statistics counted which make this video worthless and more like advertisig for Honda, Lexus and Toyota, ok iam happy for Honda, because they are kinda small - but still this statistic is so unscientific i just want to scream

Dacia is a blend between Renault and Nissan tech but assembled in their own factory. European Dacias are built in Romania and are apparently much better built (steel protected from rust using zinc much better), while British and Asian Dacias are built in India and are nowhere close.

James Bond Well good sir we have had Land Rovers and Jaguars in our family for decades now and i have to tell you that your friend is totally, indisputably, absolutely, correct.
Our first Discovery had its rear diff break right after the warranty ended. The dealership wanted to compensate part of the costs but the manufacturer gave us the middle finger, despite the issue being commonplace.
