I am not sure that the fraud charges negate any grading that has been done. Anyone in the game for any length of time knows that alot of the grading is suspect. Agree with a previous poster in that at least BGS provides some detail where as the others do not. Grading has never been consistent and or fair as bulk submitters get unwarranted grades. The whole hobby is just heading in the wrong direction.
If beckett were to implode overnight what exactly would that change for existing cards? Becketts grades are still completely valid and the slabs look better than the bulk of their competition
Time will tell. I'm a long term PSA grader who moved his business over to BGS one year ago due to inconsistency. Knock on wood, I've had zero issues moving BGS slabs on the secondary market... and most folks conclude that the recent shareholder drama has absolutely nothing to do with integrity of the company, nor their grading standards. Can't stand seeing these vids left and right trying to convince people that PSA is the one and only way to go with their investments.
to me it is more important to have info on how the grade on the slab is determined than having a money-back-guarantee e.g. With Beckett i know why i got a 6 and not the 9 i was hoping for. With PSA and most of the other grading companies I have to swallow the 6 without getting any explanation...
So you and the like have annointed PSA your daddy. You got to take the punishment like a man and if rewarded you bask in the limelight of your daddys praise and financial windfall. Beckett is your mommy. She looks great! Tells the truth to a fault and is blamed for everything that goes bad and takes the brunt of the angst of the family.
@@StephanGrilloThose that think #3 PSA is all that need to be furtherly educated. PSA is just for those in it for the money. Why are their slabs valuable? Additional costs due to the value of the card that the way to recoup the extra costs, they pass it along to the customer.
So basically get it scanned to make sure it's authentic. Then right after ask if they want to buy it. If they say yes, that means there's a hit in it. 😂😅
There is needs to be some form of technology moving forward that indicates a CT scan. If something gets ionised then it’s compromised. It ducks for older collectables though.
It's amazing how the term " How the mighty have fallen " best describes Beckett. I remember when they were the bomb , they might be too far gone to be saved. Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!! Dan
I like the idea of a special marking on product that gets scanned, but it won't happen. The main objective is deciding if the product is worth ripping or selling. If potential buyers see the stamp they'll know NOT to buy. I'd expect huge changes if Fanatics acquied BGS. I'd expect aggresive improvements and expansion of all services and quality of those services. Given they have their own break platform, you I'd expect a system that would send cards from breaks directly to grading. I'd also expect expansion to comics, magazines, and other misc collectibles to immediately compete with PSA and CGC across the board. All a total guess on my part IF Fanatics gobbles up BGS.
What if some collectors have alot of BGS graded gards? Wouldn't it take a long ass time to break them out of the slabs & then pay more to get them graded again ??
Scanning or scale the people are greedy. The hobby of collecting is death. People just want just the hits and not collecting the edition. And that' obe of the big reason why is our hobby becoming so expensive and panini and topps got full loaded money pockets
Beckett still has name recognition? Sure in a negative way. A serious negative way. If a company buys them I don't think the industry still wants to have the Beckett name attached to whatever new acquisition may take place. Let me put it to you this way in dramatic yet saterical fashion There is a reason why parents don't name their newborn sons "Adolph" anymore....
REAL TALK. Collecting sports cards in the late 80’s through the mid 90’s was the best time in history. Why? Because we collected sports cards for the PLAYERS. Haven’t bought a pack since 2002. Recently bought a couple packs. Hoping back in. But what do I see? I see EVERYONE but 1 person (1 PERSON) enjoying the players. EVERYONE ELSE is in it for the money to get rich. Make it a career. What a shame to see. It’s supposed to be a hobby not a joke. EVERY CHANNEL IS THE SAME. Except 1. Hey. I’d rather open 1 pack of 92 hoops than 1 of your $20,000 crappy waste of money plenty of autographs that you’re not happy with dumb packs anyday of the week just hoping for a Maurice Cheeks. Keep your autographs. There’s millions more just like you that have that same one. 🤡
The ones just in it for the money are offended by your post. Prepare to be called 1. a hater 2. blowing smoke 3. don't know what you are talking about.
@@juliofromdenver9260They just hate it when they get called out. They know they been busted and really don't care. Gets worse with the PSA owned LCSs.
For Pokémon, CT scanning is a great thing for cases such as the Holon Phantoms box. You are able to authenticate for $225 without knowing the hits. Any boxes that are 2019 and older you rarely can pull hits worth more than the sealed booster box in the 1st place. Authentication is very much needed for the hobby and vintage Pokémon. With their prices most people aren’t paying $225 to scan a modern box for hits. Your EV would be pretty bad as a business model. In Sports however it’s a very different conversation lol
BGS is really messed. They entered my order under someone else email and I had to get in touch with my Rep that I met at a card show. It was really shady and luckily he straightened it out. PSA all the way for me moving forward.
That is not a very good idea. You move up to #3 from #4. They are not better since they rank low in customer service, turnaround times and quality control. For heavens sake, they are letting inexperienced people handle the submissions in their partial owned Gamestop stores; already reports they have lost orders.
Dude scanning service being mainstream is not that bad thing your trying to make it. The fact it has probably been possible for 5 years and no one knew is a big deal.
@@DanTheCardMan2 Id be willing to argue its better than bad for the hobby. The only argument i feel that makes it negative is pretending its not happening outside of the public service. But it 100% is and if that public service were to go down and it went into the shadows it would be worse than everyone finding out and demanding scan there expensive product. There is a small arbitrage play to be made amoung people who dont know or dont care if you have really expensive product.
This is too much. Advising others to dump BGS slab? And what if they do remain in the business? Are you gonna be held responsible financially? You omit how BGS are still more consistent than PSA/CGC in terms of grading and also they dont upcharge for a ton like PSA LOL. A lot of other TCG collectors especially in the asia market still uses BGS for the black label chase. Honestly speaking, as long as they will to lower the grading price and flush cards out fast like PSA. I am sure they will remain in the business. Sport industry in the west is the what killing BGS.
Held financially responsible for stating something as my opinion? BGS may be more consistent but the market is clearly avoiding them like the plague and have done so for a long time. Go for gold but if you're someone looking to manage risk I'd be avoiding them long term/until things change. If they go under their slabs will likely struggle to recover.

Using that service to authenticate a really expensive sealed product is fine. The risk involved is immense, especially with fakes on the market.
