  • In this episode of The Cordial Catholic, I'm joined by Morgan K. Blair, an evangelical, episcopal convert to the Catholic faith. Morgan tells her story of what happened when an author she respected and followed and then a good friend of hers became Catholic and how it catapulted her into her own journey.
    Morgan explains how she met Catholics online who walked with her, how she left behind progressive Christians views for the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, and the incredible graces, blessings, and life-changing events which have followed.

    I was a prosecutor in NY. I mostly do criminal defense. I had a reversion to the faith in 1998 from evangelicalism. It's nice to see our brothers and sisters returning home. And it's nice to see fellow lawyers. And who says lawyers have no soul? LOL!

      I’m so glad the reversion happened to you! You are blessed! I’m sure you have lots of relatives in Heaven who were and still are praying for you. After all, aren’t the first Christians all Catholics?😊😄👍

    Great episode! I related a lot as a recent convert to the Church from The Episcopalian world as well. It’s hard swallowing your pride and following the Holy Spirit’s will rather than your own sometimes. However, God makes it all worth it in the end. Happy to say that I’ll be confirmed Catholic at the Easter Vigil next year! 😁

      I know it's a complicated problem but do not let that be a reason to hold you back from embracing the fullness of truth; for it is written: “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me" (Mat. 10:34-36).

      @Krystal you don’t necessarily have to tell her. My wife hasn’t told her anti Catholic family. She doesn’t lie but she simply didn’t volunteer that information. Grandma is dying and we felt it was best to spare her. As the news would be a shock

    I totally get this. Cradle Catholic to Evangelical the last 25 years, now CONSUMED with studying all things Catholic and I cannot stop. Studying church history, watching conversion stories like this. I recently joined a Catholic women's book group and realized I only knew ONE Catholic here in my city (who comes to my evangelical group). This group of women has welcomed me with such open arms. My husband and I read together on church history every morning and have discussions. He knew nothing about catholicism but is intrigued. He is agreement that we as evangelicals have not celebrated the Eucharist properly and this is a very big deal. Thank you so much for this story, which sounds so much like our story of researching, studying, and desiring GOD's TRUTH. .

    I'm a Catholic of over 60 years and reconciliation is always been a struggle. I think Satan works to justify our doubt in cleansing our soul to become closer to our Lord. I pray that we all recognize the need for confession ! Thanks for talking about this subject.

    One of the differences between Protestantism and the practice of Catholic Spirituality is (at least as I have seen it) most Protestant sects have one acceptable spirituality. The more Charismatic/Pentecostals one variety, Missouri Synod Lutherans another. Episcopal parishes depending on how Low or High Church they are their own. As a Catholic I've gone to Traditional Latin Masses where I've encountered Catholic Charismatics who enjoy going to their prayer meetings and glossolalia, but still prefer to go to the Latin Mass, where they can pray in a solemn and silent meditative manner. Be it a Carmelite, Franciscan, Dominican or other spirituality, we as Catholics can find the spirituality that both best suits our walk with Christ, and is still a completely acceptable way of expressing the Faith. Or as in the Charismatics who go to the Latin Mass, or myself who sometimes goes to the Byzantine, Maronite, or even Coptic and Armenian Catholic Liturgies, lives a fully Catholic life, even with the external differences afforded to us.

    O’ Lovely lady dressed in blue teach me how to pray. God was just your little boy. Tell me what to say. Did you lift him up sometimes gently on your knee? Did you sing to him like mother does to me? Did you ever try telling him stories of the world? Did he cry? Do you think he cares to the little things that happen? Do angel’s wings make noise? Can he hear me if I speak low? Does he understand me? Now tell me for you know. Ohhh. Lovely lady dressed in blue. Teach me how to pray. God was just your little boy and you know the way. Ave Maria. Mother Mary is the true ark of the covenant in the new exodus of Christ.When we walk through the desert and take her with us we can distroy strong and high walls of Jericho and cross rivers crossing our paths.Because she is the dwelling place of God.Men will call her blessed in generation after generations according to the scriptures. She was called the mother of the Lord by the third person , God the Holy spirit through Elizabeth.A being of the highest throne,Ark angel Gabriel ,had to bow down to her an earthly creature when delivering the words of God to her that turns the entire history of mankind.The exact words of God that The Satan will always remember and the words is only found in the holy rosary prayer together with the words of the third person through Elizabeth. Everyone will call her blessed in the generations to come.Satan is always reminded through the five decades of the rosary of How he was defeated.We proclaim our faith in God through the apostle creed and we say the family prayer ,the OUR FATHER and we give glory back to God the father ,the son and holy spirit.All in one prayer the Holy rosary prayer that the mother of the lord has shown us.God bless everyone.

    It is fascinating to me when I examine the divergence of the different sects of Christianity and how it seems to break down into socioeconomic groups where the education systems are very different. I noticed, with a higher degree of education, the groups tend split, the Evangelical tend to target a less educated congregation from poorer rural communities, where as Catholic churches tended towards a more afluental, higher educated people. I was raised Roman Catholic, but I was not able to accept the contradictions and unsettling nature of the Bible. But it was refreshing to see educated people having a conversation about religion rather than the snake oil Evangelical preachers you stumbled across on TH-cam. The church should have a way to remove these grifters who are taking advantage of their congregations and giving all churches a bad name

    • @finndicaprio153

      @Chris Coke I am really happy without the church and I couldn't possibly change an institution that is as powerful! I can only change myself and inspire others to change too! Jesus taught us to be good to each other, treat each other with love and respect and unfortunately, the church doesn't seem to share Jesus's opinions!

    • @chriscoke2505
      @chriscoke2505 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@finndicaprio153 You cannot change yourself. It takes the divine power of Christ to change a man. You can cooperate with grace, but you cannot yourself create it.
      As far as your charges against the Church, how would it be you attack the institution with the message She carries? She preserved the words of Christ and compiled them with great care to bring the message of Christ. She has for 2000 years carried this message to the world, and only through Her did you hear of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ and His Body are inseparable. You cannot be a friend of Christ and an enemy to His Bride that is formed by Him.
      Now the fact that there is flaws in the perfect incarnation of His Word into the Body speaks to earthly imperfections that aren’t fully purged. The correct response is love to those struggling. A response that advocates instead to cut oneself off from the rest of the Body is absolutely and categorically incorrect
