  • In this episode of The Cordial Catholic, I'm joined by podcaster, writer, and speaker John Edwards to share what I think is the most incredible conversion story ever.
John breaks the record previously held by the wonderful Tsh Oxenreider as he speaks for a full hour unpacking his whirlwind conversion story: through a crippling drug addiction, successes and failures, ups and downs, and an incredible return to the Catholic Church through the grace of vulnerability and the sacraments John's story is absolutely breath-taking. I can promise you'll be on the edge of your seat throughout; and once you start, you won't be able to hit pause!

@carakerr4081, how are you? I hope you finally decided to “Come Home.” If not, COME ON OVER, FRIEND! What do you have to lose? Just come right in and when you’re in and you decide it was not what you expected, hey, you’re free to return to your old church. One thing to FOCUS on while you’re thinking about it some more. How do you reconcile with our Lord’s message in John 6? Remember, all His disciples left Him after that exhortation. And, they could not “bear” and “accept” it because they all knew Jesus meant what He said to EAT His Body and DRINK His Blood. And, when they all left He did NOT call them back and appease them by saying, “Come back. I meant it to be just a SYMBOL.” No He did not! Because God will NEVER force Himself on us! God bless you. friend❤️🙏❤️‍🔥🙏

It’s a truly vital point that is made - about men needing a space in which to be vulnerable. I work with men who have been pornography addicts and online sex offenders. A theme that comes up all the time is their keeping everything to themselves and never talking about woundedness. May God always bless your work.

“We’re not the sum of our sins, we are the sum of His love” ❤love that!!
I think every human is the same in that we crave those things that become addictions. What we really crave is God. We just don’t know it. It’s such a difficult transition to wean off earthy addictions to trust 100% in God. When it happens it’s such a victory. Because we will never go back to the fake “high” So never be ashamed of your past, any one of you out there Because sometimes that’s what it takes before you finally find your true love in God. God uses everything in our lives as stepping stones that lead to the doorstep of His mercy

John is creating a new dynamic for male only ministry. It is a great need of the times when men are losing their masculinity and with it the gift of being good if not great fathers and husbands to their families, the smallest unit of society. Bless also John’s beautiful faithful patient w❤fe who brought him to the Catholic faith and also became his rock at the lowest point of his double life she did not know about. The concept of Alcohol Anonymous has been proven through the ages because while we sin alone we can only have healing with people helping us get over it by just listening and not judging us. Then, the Holy Spirit can take over in bringing us back to the Loving Always Waiting Father through Jesus. Mother Mary will also intercede for us as well asSt. Joseph if we ask them to.

Im a new convert from this past Easter vigil and confession was so amazing and it was so wonderful to get out all of my sins to a priest that was ordained by God acting in persona Christi and looks you right in your eyes and gives absolution. I know that as a Protestant we could ask Jesus for forgiveness but I held on to those sins never forgiving myself. Confession is a beautiful sacrament and Jesus is so amazing for giving us this gift and then to receive Jesus in the Eucharist at communion is one of the most wonderful moments of my life. Every time I am United with Christ is just amazing to know He is with me and his Grace is what I need. I just love being Catholic and I want everyone to experience it. Loved this video. I definitely was not sleeping at all. I hope everyone gets a chance to hear this testimony and see there is hope and joy in life with Christ no matter what you have done or how far we’ve fallen. @@solafide9533 Why are you saying, “R church”? What does that mean?….
Nobody bows down to statues. They bow down to Christ the source of all grace. Why don’t you use google and find out the answers instead of spamming every comment on every Catholic TH-cam video. Catholic answers is a great source, but of course the Bible is the best source. You will find most answers there, but not all. The rest of the answers come from the Catechism of the Catholic Church in which all traditions have been handed down since Saint Peter. But you don’t want answers. You want to keep posting things you believe to be true with your own personal interpretation of the Bible. We luckily have a Church that was created by Jesus that interprets the Bible so we are never confused unless we don’t know our faith. Revelations 5:8 relates to praying to saints. Saints=anyone who went to Heaven. Of course there wasn’t because the Bible ended and life continued as the church decided what books went in the bible. Thank you to the Catholic Church for compiling the bible. Unfortunately Protestants removed 7 books. Important books that you are missing. And yes the apostles baptized believers with Holy water. They didn’t merely break bread..Jesus said, “This is my body” & “this is my blood”…”unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you have no life within you”. Also the disciples murmured and many left because it was so shocking! At mass we are participating in the passion and are receiving the Body, Blood, Soul & Divinity of Jesus Christ. And Popes don’t demand anyone kiss their hands and feet. Pope Francis actually washed and kissed prisoners feet this past Easter. It was beautiful and it brought tears to my eyes. Every priest washes regularly peoples feet at Easter as Jesus did.
I don’t want a lollipop. By the way that sounds so condescending.

Maybe you’re in front of a wall. Does that mean you’re worshiping those things? Our minds and hearts are bowing to God when we bow and pray. We know that all source of Grace is from God. We see the grace God poured out to the saints that are in Heaven and all Glory is to God. We are thankful to God that we see how the saints lived and followed the Lord and we thank God for the gift of learning from the saints and how they lived their lives. You see what you want from a photo, but you don’t see what’s actually happening in a person’s soul. Have you ever looked at photos of your loved ones or kissed their photo? Have you ever cried when you missed them?

I learned some years ago (after reading Imitation of Christ) never to judge a person for a misfortune or to give up on someone because of his sinful ways. To do these would be to question God's plan for the person. Instead, we should hope and pray for the person to receive God's love and mercy. And, of course, we should do the same for ourselves.
Thank you, John, for your testimony, and now this 75-year-old from the Philippines has become one of your supporters in your mission (and this channel's, too) through prayer.

1:11:01 Honest question that I don’t expect and even hope won’t be answered: What, at this point, constitutes “messing up very badly”?
After you’ve kicked the cocaine and the pornography and all the lying that goes along with it, what does one go to confess every other week?
“I indulged my memory of pornography I looked at ten years ago”?
“I said something sarcastic and cutting to my best friend.”
I’m certainly not denying that we all fall back into sin. We do, and we need (I need) to go to confession to be healed and be free to live as better Christians.
My difficulty is with a kind of pettiness, maybe even scrupulosity that seems anything but freeing.
In any event, an absolutely fantastic story. Thanks to both the Cordial Catholic and John for really bringing it!

message to my protestant brothers (please read and reread John Chapter 6)--> at JOHN 6:53 (i.e. communion) is either a symbol or it is literally Jesus Flesh and Blood...at John 6:30 his disciples requested a sign --> (be attentive to how Jesus responded) 6:30They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
6:31Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
6:32Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
6:33For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
6:34Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
6:35And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
6:36But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
now... when his disciples requested a sign at John6:30 they were asking for a miracle (what doust thou work?) they were
asking him to work a miracle
a symbol is not a miracle
please research what the early church believed about the Lord's Supper....this belief is the essence of Catholic faith
I left protestantism because I couldn't find a protestant church that did it literally...I didn't want to go back to the Catholic church....scripture forced me to (KJV scripture)

He didn’t say those exact words, but that is definitely what happened and continues to happen every time we pray, attend mass where Jesus is truly present, receiving our Lord in the Eucharist and receiving forgiveness from the priest that acts in persona Christi (the person of Christ). *Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them:* for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
      Exodus 25:10-22 KJV
10 And they shall make an ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.
11 And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and without shalt thou overlay it, and shalt make upon it a crown of gold round about.
12 And thou shalt cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in the four corners thereof; and two rings shall be in the one side of it, and two rings in the other side of it.
13 And thou shalt make staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold.
14 And thou shalt put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, that the ark may be borne with them.
15 The staves shall be in the rings of the ark: they shall not be taken from it.
16 And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee.
17 And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.
*18 And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.*
*19 And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof.*
20 And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.
21 And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.
22 And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

@alisterrebelo9013 *Hilarious false claims of Roman pagan religion and RCs again. Roman pagan council was merely a local council. It did not involve bishops of all churches. Local councils had zero authority declaring any Universal Canon. Roman canon was merely a local canon. Period. That was meant for Roman pagan religion only. Not for all churches.*

Paul instructs Christians to follow traditions/ordinances (same Greek word paradoseis παραδόσεις) that were passed on to them by SPOKEN WORD. Paul calls these spoken words part of the deposit of faith. Paul also tells us that these spoken words are truly 'the word of God'. Paul instructs Timothy (someone who has never seen Jesus) to transmit this deposit of faith (spoken and written) word of God to others, by the HOLY SPIRIT. So did the Holy Spirit fail to transmit these spoken and written word of God?
2 Timothy 2:1-2 KJV - 1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And *the things that thou hast HEARD of me among many witnesses, the same COMMIT THOU TO FAITHFUL MEN, who shall be able to teach others also.*
2 Timothy 1:13-14 KJV - 13 *HOLD FAST the form of SOUND WORDS, which thou hast HEARD of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.*
1 Corinthians 11:2 KJV - 2 *Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ORDINANCES, as I delivered [them] to you.*
paradoseis παραδόσεις - translated as 'ordinances' in this passage.
2 Thessalonians 2:15 KJV - 15 Therefore, brethren, *stand fast, and hold the TRADITIONS which ye have been taught, whether BY WORD, or our epistle.*
paradoseis παραδόσεις - translated as 'traditions' in this passage.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 KJV - 13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, *when ye received the word of God which ye HEARD of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God,* which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

      @@alisterrebelo9013 ⭐Was Bible a Roman Catholic Book? ⭐
      The answer is No.
Scriptures was written by Jewish Prophets and Jewish Christian APostles. Not Roman Catholics. By ad100s, all Scriptures of modern day Bibles were already in all churches. Jesus and APostles already called Scriptures "Scriptures" in their days. Believers did not have to wait 300 years for Scriptures to be "made inspired" or "called Scriptures" by Roman religion.
⭐Did Roman Church come up with a Universal Canon?⭐
      The answer is No.
Roman religion merely compiled what was already there. Council of Rome was merely a local council. Council of Rome merely compiled it's own local canon. Not a Universal Canon. Roman religion’s NT canon was only one of many local canons in those days. Roman Church did not fix any Universal Canon. That requires an Ecumenical Council with bishops of all churches. Nothing of such happened.
⭐Were there other canons after Council of Rome in ad382? ⭐
      The answer is yes.
Council of Rome claimed to have a Universal Canon by ad382. If Roman religion and Roman pope was all that powerful having authority over all churches, no other churches would need to come up with a canon; like Hippo (397) and Carthage (419). There were still other canons in ad692 and 1442. If a Universal Canon was really fixed in ad382 like what Roman Catholics claimed, why were there still other canons after ad382? Why are there still other canons till this day - 66, 73, 81 books canons?*
⭐Does Christian Bible come from Roman Catholic Bible?⭐
      The answer is No.
Roman Bibles came from a Greek translation called LXX. Christian Bibles came from Hebrew OT. So why would Christian Bible be from Roman Catholics?
⭐Did Christians remove 7 books or did Roman Catholics added 7 books? ⭐
Romans 3:1-2 says Scriptures is of Jewish origins. Not Roman Catholic origins. Jews till this day holds OT 39 books. Not Roman religion’s OT 46 books. Scriptures is always correct. So clearly pointing to Roman religionists adding 7 books. Greek LXX was merely a translation of Original Hebrew OT. Original Hebrew OT did not contain Apocrypha 7 books. So why would a translation have Apocrypha 7 books? So clearly pointing to Roman religionists adding 7 books.
⭐Refuting Papacy from canon point of view. ⭐
ad382 canon was merely one of many local canons in those days, from a local council called Council of Rome. It was not a final Universal Canon which RCs love to claim. There were still other local canons before ad382 and after ad382 like in ad692 and 1442. If Roman canon was the one and only final Universal Canon for all churches, why would there be other canons before and after ad382? In fact there was not a single Ecumenical Council with bishops of all churches that fixed any Universal Canon till this day. Not one.
If there was really a pope who had "All Authority" from ad33 in early Church like what RCs love to claim, he would have fixed a Universal Canon by ad100. Why would there be so many canons floating around from ad100s -ad1400s?
