MundMoriginal I guess I was a little unclear. I know it’s pre rendered and all that. It was just very interesting visually and set a great tone. I hope they do Lovecraft justice, was my real concern.
I surely hope this game looks as sick as the trailer.

I just noticed that the second time he wakes up you can see some towers or leaning spires silhouetted above the city. They were not there the first time!
Neither was the eye thing he does at the end.
You also see his eyes blink the second time he is now a lizard. His eyes close from the sides like a lizard.
That's a really good spot :) If you look at the growths around the street, there also now appear to be an abundance of white protuberances that look halfway between coral polyps and human arms in several locations.
It looks like to me the more you die the more uncover and there’s puzzles you can do to unlock different things and when you wake up again it unlocks something new like those towers that will be awesome

This... honestly looks awesome on so many different levels. I love how perfectly they capture the atmosphere of a sickly dream, all these little details like a shadows that are not there if you shine directly at them, geometry that is definitely skewed and impossible from afar but happens to be ALMOST normal up close... True lovecraftian horror has to make player constantly question their own perception.

5yrs later. Played this on Xbox One and Series X and I loved this game. I’ve always liked what Frogwares do and this was no exception. I always thought Charles Reed was a very likeable; if not low key, main protagonist

5 years later and I’ve just discovered this game in the Nintendo switch store on deal and bought all the DLC and packs and this game is fun! Can’t believe 😊

Sometimes I come here to watch this trailer and see how they made the end like the beginning and show us how the man is in an endless cycle. It was really good

I doubt it was the intention of the people who made it, but my own interpretation is that this is what it must feel like to be trapped inside a feeding-loop for an eldritch monster that just wants an endlessly sustainable snack. So much of Lovecraftian horror is about our inability to comprehend their motives, but for me, after days and weeks of trying to understand how and why a 7th dimensional being would lock a mere human inside an infinitely recurring timeline just to kill it? It hit me: to a being that can warp time this is like having steak forever, and that dude is the cow. Endlessly walking into the booth with no comprehension of his purpose or part in the process until it's too late.
I come back to this clip every once in a while to feel that feeling.

There are games that made me feel that same way, too, like Little Nightmares 2 and Bioshock Infinite. I highly recommend you give them a try. you will like it.

Also, Bloodborne. Yeah, it's basically a child of Bloodborne and Bioshock after reading some Lovecraft stories.
With some Silent Hill and Sherlock Holmes thrown into the mix.
And a bit of The Evil Within.
well like... a more Lovecraftian Bioshock. it was already a little lovecraftian, but this is lovecraftian as it gets.
Quite literally, one of the best cinematic trailers ever made. All the tiny details that truly summarize how terrifying lovecraftian horror is. The shadow in the chair that disappears when the light hits it, how the light rays from his flashlight literally slows down when he turns to face the door, just the implications of that alone is terrifying. Then there is the impossible architecture, the looping time and on and on.
Brilliant stuff.
Seemed like a loop but the second time he gains his consciousness towards the end of the trailer 2:54 he had an extra eyelid like some reptiles do. Hmmm interesting.
And there are leaning towers or spires that weren't there before and new stuff in the streets

Hmm I wonder if this will be in a shared universe with the new Call Of Cthulhu game. Although i'm assuming that its two different companies making them. Cool that we are getting 2 Lovecraft based games in the same year though. Now we need a decent movie.

If I understand it right, this developers were originally tasked with Call of Cthulhu game, but when the license was pulled of, they decided to make the game anyway.

the best way to deal with elder gods methinks is to ignore it, just... just walk away, in a calm, if slightly hurried pace, don't look back, suppress the memory if possible, and hope its interest doesn't linger on you enough for you to be deemed a worthy entertainment source

Call of Cthulhu was great imo, let's hope this will be another fantastic dive into the cosmic horror genre, and pay great tribute to our beloved HP Lovecraft.

10/10 trailer, it's been a while I've seen a trailer this good.
Had to run it back twice: shadow in the chair when he enters the room and at the protagonist's side-ways reptilian eyeed blink at the end. Incredibly stoked for this, especially sinec they're releasing the level editor too!
This is one of my favorite games. There's a lot of repetitive fetch quests but it's such a fun and challenging game that I can't help but to play it when I can't decide what to play!
I agree. Also, it entered my dreams. I dreamt that my rented apartment resided in the Sinking City.
Everything was water logged, and crooked.
In the same dream, I went to the store to get White Castle mini cheese burger sliders.
The first time I watched this as part of "Upcoming games" or something and I was super high. It made me extremely paranoid and I didn't even know if the trailer was actually real until now.
Kind of a pointless story but it made the experience so much more intense.
That part where the sky is the sea and it starts falling . . . genius! That's some tense stuff.

Tim West well it was a small company that made it and they didn’t have a massive budget so this game is actually pretty good story wise and gameplay wise due to their limitations and honestly it’s impressive just imagine them with a budget as big as rockstars etc the devs are really good in this game is what I’m trying to say

I loved the game so much, that I'm forcing myself to not play it again so that the next time will still have a feeling of freshness to it.
The game's flaw: it presents itself as being "open ended" and it definitely feels that way...until the end.

The last area of the Bloodborne dlc is basically this. A sunken fishing village. Or hamlet..

it is hard to do cosmic horror and make a profit on an indie budget, and it won't be the next COD so AAA won't touch it

Would be cool if a game was set a loop continuously. You would keep playing expecting an ending but it just keeps looping back around. Totally lovecrafting scary
Now, I know a lot of people don’t necessarily like this game at all.. but I think it’s great. I love the Lovecraftian style. I’ve always have ever since I was a young one. I never beat it, but I’m going to soon!
