Nowdays first you have to register on line to get into a queue. . Then do tests at the DMV office in your Khet. Watching the movie and do the on line test.

But I have an apec card with me that I could stay 90 days maximum in Thailand. I've got a Chinese with English written driving license in my country. But as a tourist I think its not easy to get a certificate of residency issued from my embassy as they wont do it for me as a tourist. Does it mean a regular traveler is impossible to obtain a driving license?

I tested 5 times and failed. I then noticed that questions i had marked before that had been graded as right were being marked wrong. I figured at that point they wanted me to pay a bribe but did not know how. I gave up. When i returned to states i bought an international license and use it to drive on now.
Ron, they have training course on line containing the actual questions so you can practice. When you fail you can see the question and answer in the computer and you can see why you gave a wrong answer. Chill out, and study first, dont think you know it all, Thai Traffic Rule are sometimes weird and the common wrong answers are all to do with turning rules and who gives way. Spend an hour or two doing homework

About buying a car or a motorcycle might not be as simple as they say in this video. Most shops require that you have a yellow book as a farrang we're it states your residence. I took my Thai motorcycle driver licens from the official Thai land of transport, and they required... Passport, valid visa, yellow book and the medical exam. I took me a few days to get the license with the theory test and a quick driving test. The first time you get the motorcycle licens, it is valid for 2 years, then you have to renew it and it will be valid for 5 years. NOTE:Do practice the thai/English theory books for a week. (The book can be borrowed for free at the land of transport). What do is it cost to get the Thai license? About 500 baht with the medical exam. Stay safe and legal on the Thai roads. Allways wear a helmet.
The yellow book (or a rental agreement) is not something hard to get as your landlord can provide it. If you already have a drivers license in your country you do not need to do the driving test. But you do need the theory test. The medical exam will cost a few hundred baht at any nearby clinic. I just want it to be *clear* , that this is not at all difficult and is *way* easier than doing many other things in Thailand.

Yes, it is. However does it have a motorbike notation on it? If you decide to ride a motorbike -- you could have trouble if it does not allow you to ride. Most foreigners that you see around thailand on motorbikes don't have a license to ride one and things are ok. But if the police stops you and you don't have that license, then it *could* mean you have to pay a fine.

Hey guys, My 2 year temporary license has expired. I want to renew it with a 5 year license. Is it still fine to come with a tourist visa or do I need a non-immigrant visa? From what I heard with a tourist visa I can only renew for another 2 years but not for 5 years , for the latter one I’ve heard only non-immigrant visa applies.

It use to be easy to get license however in Bangkok you now required to have I'd card and yellow book
