    I wonder if you added some food coloring would it affect the chemicals used to give the boxes a different color?

      @Ashby_Farms_NC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn’t wanna try that. The bees don’t need different color trees to find their way home in nature

    Great video! Thank you for the information. I have a question, what is the measurement of your tank?

    • @Ashby_Farms_NC
      @Ashby_Farms_NC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve got a couple of wax dip videos that go into the dimensions and why. It measures 20”x40”x48”

      Hey your vat is roughly 36 inches deep right with the burner bottom area 12inches?

    Instead of getting up on a step, I'd be lowering the bottom of the tank. Working on a step is dangerous.
    If you can't dig a hole and have it drain, the next best would be to build a work platform around the tank, so you can walk around it and take a quick step backwards without losing your footing.
    Breaking your leg or your neck falling off that step would take a distressing splash burn to a whole new level of bad day at work.

      With 600lbs of wax in that tank, no way to get the burner under it once its in the hole

      @@Ashby_Farms_NC To slide a burner under the tank, I'd make the hole longer than the tank by enough to have the burner and its connections at the same level - and a grille or trapdoor over the end of the hole once the burner is in place so the hole isn't a trip hazard.
      But I reckon what the industry is missing is electric water heaters in the right scale. An electric kettle on 240v can boil water for a cup of tea faster than a gas stovetop kettle can, so we just need to scale it up. And then we won't have to worry about boiling wax overflowing or spilling onto a naked flame.

    Great video! Have you ever re-dipped those old boxes? Just curious if at the 230-240 the propolis would be melted?

    • @Ashby_Farms_NC
      @Ashby_Farms_NC  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nah. Propolis would likely melt off

    great video! how long do you expect the wax to last on a box? how long till you need to re-do the wax dipping?

      Never. Once and Done. I’ve got 3-4 videos on my channel about the process.

    I just bought some waxed deep boxes and I have a question ❓ do I need to use glue on them or not.

    • @Ashby_Farms_NC
      @Ashby_Farms_NC  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope. It won’t adhere because of the wax impregnated wood

    Hello, we are small beekeepers who are starting out in beekeeping. Could you make us a paraffin melter similar to the one in the video and how much would it cost including the shipping charge to Riverside California? thank you

    • @Ashby_Farms_NC
      @Ashby_Farms_NC  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You’d be better off finding one already built in Cali. With todays prices it would be upward of $4k
