Spotlights are one of the main light sources you will use the most often.

Parmy I just recently started following you and all I can say is you rock! Suggestion-would love your thoughts on Iray vs octane ? Eagerly awaiting that vid.

Hi Parmy, love your videos! I was following along but today when I view changes with Nvidia selected there is a rectangle that shows the area that will render. Perhaps it has always been there but now it seems to limit the area that renders, instead of me choosing the area that I want to render. Have I clicked something by mistake?

Thanks for your kind comment and question.
I believe that you are mentioning the white rectangle in the viewport which is the aspect frame. This can be changed by going to the render settings tab-->editor tab-->general. In this section you can change the pixel size which is the render dimensions. Set the dimensions to any size you wish.
NOTE: The bigger the render dimensions the longer it will take to render.

Could I use a low-intensity Distant Light as a "fill light"?

You can use a low-intensity Distant Light as a fill light. A distant light is has limited options. You can't control the shadow softness, only the brightness and direction.

Do I need a specific type of pc to do this 3d images and then render them into pictures? And if i do, what is the budget choice for a beginner? Can I use gaming gpu instead of quadro cards? Can I use ryzen cpu instead of threadripper or xeon? How much ram do I need to pull this off? How many mhz?

Thanks for your questions. There is an article that is for some reason very difficult to find on the Daz3D website that gives you all the information regarding computer specs to run Daz Studio, helpdaz.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003568443-What-are-the-system-requirements-to-run-Daz-Studio-
I would definitely recommend an Nvidia Graphics card for rendering. The current graphics card that I have is Asus Cerberus 8GB Nvidia 1070ti.
My cpu specs of my old PC when I started to used Daz Studio was:
      Intel Q6600 CPU
      16GB Ram
      Geforce GTX 660 Graphics card
The renders took a very long time and this is a great starter machine spec wise. As I suggested earlier a more beefier graphics card will help a lot with rendering speed.
If you require anymore help please reply to this comment and I will do my best to help you.

@@ParmyBaddhan No, I don't have any more questions. Thanks! I was just curiuous if I can build a pc for for gaming and for work, because quadro and titan cards are expensive. Seems to me everyone is using the same hardware for gaming...

@@DarkLRD I would get more comfortable with Daz Studio with the current PC specs you have and as you improve your skills you will want to upgrade to the PC specs mentioned because the waiting of the rendering will be the main thing hindering your workflow.
That's one of the many reasons why I upgraded, was the waiting for the iray preview mode and the rendering took far too long and I couldn't use my PC at the same time because the GPU was not being used for rendering, the CPU was being used for rendering.
