Would *Point Lights* be good as "fill lights" in conjunction with *Distant* or *Spotlights* as the main source?

It depends on how much you want to control the fill light. Spotlights give you more control than a point light would. However you can use any light source (spotlight, pointlight, emissive primitives and ghost lights) as a fill light.

Wouldn`t a sphere be the most natural emission mode for a point light? Especially if you need to illuminate more than one direction.

I agree. Use an emissive sphere as a point light. This tutorial is really old and was created when I had very limited knowledge of lighting within Daz Studio.

@@ParmyBaddhan I don't get that last reply. How can a point light change to an emissive sphere?

@@PaithanORG Point lights are to be used in 3delight and I don't recommend them with Iray since you can use an emissive sphere to get the same effect with superior results.

@@ParmyBaddhan Thanks for the reply. Ok. No point lights in Iray. Where can I find the emisive sphere?

I still see no difference between spotlight and point light in Iray.

A spotlight you can point in any direction and you have more control over the direction of the light. Think of a spotlight as a lamp.
A pointlight brightens the whole room like a lightbulb. The light goes in a 360 degree angle, similar to a disco ball.
