Thanks for your comment. I'm no guru. I'm just like you, a person that wants to learn Daz Studio and learn about 3D digital art. If I can help you to reach your goals with Daz Studio then I have fulfilled my purpose.
Thanks for you kind comment. Once you understand how lighting works in Daz Studio, you have infinite possibilities to light your scenes. I look forward to seeing your renders.
Awesome! Thank you for providing the billboards, so I could use follow along. I haven't bought environments yet, so I used the area51. I have learned so many new things. Importing pictures to use as billboard, the thing with the billboard alpha channel, Plane instances and also how to copy and paste parameters. I didn't know that it is possible. amazing!
Super awesome I was looking at those in the store. Thinking is there a way to make it? Ofc there is and it's you with another great tutorial. This is an excellent tip to save on render time and make some incredible scenes. Thanks, good sir.
I try this many times and in Iray all mask thing does NOT work for me. I still see whole image no see through mask with cutting mask. I use PNG in both image and mask and my render engine ignore it. In Viewport render is fine not in IVIDIA. Hey guys , what I did wrong?
The masking inside Daz Studio works like in photoshop where black conceals, white reveals. So anything you want to hide should be black in your cutout texture and anything you want to show should be white in your cutout texture. Also make sure that you use unique names for all of your maps, even if you save over them as Daz Studio will see not see the updated texture.
This is an amazing video! I had no idea that DAZ allowed us to import items like these (2D images) and manipulate them in such a way!!! Even though I thought I was going to learn how to make billboards with humans (like the Now-Crowd ones you showed), this opens soooo many doors for me! One question: can we save them as props? And if so, how? I'd like to use what I create for multiple projects. Many thanks!!!!
Thanks for your comment. You can save your billboard prop as a scene subset and reuse them. If you want to know how to create human billboards the tutorial is here, th-cam.com/video/_KdRAsL64cM/w-d-xo.html
Wow, I never knew this was possible. I'm still new at Daz and still in the process of learning more stuff. What a great time saver this is especially for renders. Does this work the same for genesis figures? I mean after I render them individually without the background which means less hassle, I put the rendered image in the plane, right? Been watching your videos for some time now and its been helping me a lot. Thanks so much!!!
I find low poly 3D figures are much better to use as background people, you can find quite a lot of them around the internet for free. All you need to do is import the .obj into DAZ and scale them to the correct size, when you hit them with 'uber iray' shader they look really good in the background of your scene. Much more realistic than billboards and much easier to work with.
What comes after excellent! A new guru has arrived and many of our Daz Studio woes go away. Many thanks and kind regards.

Must confess I haven’t thought of using billbords for lighting before. Great tip!

I can load every 3d object into daz, what do you guess how the Artists get the model into DAZ :D

You can create your own billboards of any genesis character. This video will help you with that, th-cam.com/video/_KdRAsL64cM/w-d-xo.html
