Cindy McClarty oh nice idea. it's not too hard to pull it out but it is very tedious and nerve racking to try and not break stuff. Honestly the snap clips are always annoying in interior panels
Hey Alyssa, that's awesome, I'm glad to here you're enjoying the chann. Plenty of junk available that can be slapped on these cars, that's for sure 😂 Do you have any modification plans for the car yet?
Hey sorry I don't have a how to for a wideband. What type of boost controller are you looking to hook up? Electric or mechanical? I can probably film something this week if you need. I can go over the wideband installation and some different boost controllers
Oh great choice in controller haha. Yes I can film something later this week and try to edit it quickly. The hardest part with the GFB isn't hooking it up but it's getting the settings dialed in. It's not super hard but takes time and several test drives in different gears to get perfect. I'll do a walk-through for each and explain the boost adjustments for you ;-) Hope that timeline isn't too long for you either
Initial DIY mods it should be ok, I was likening at wiring and installs, and as you said it doesn't look too bad l, just the calibrations. It would be nice to have something to go by also. Thanks for taking your time on it
Hey mate, I'm a little confused by your question. What harness are you referring to? Ambient air sensor is located in the front of the car and really shouldn't be affected by anything in this video. Typically, they're installed in front of the radiator to get the exterior temp and not be impacted by the sun or radiator If you're referencing the gauge pod harness that we trap into, this doesn't connect to the ambient air temp sensor on this car. So it really shouldn't have any negative impact. The gauges are ECU outputs, not direct measurements
@@joshuamacias1264 yeah, Instagram is the easiest. It's the same name as here on TH-cam. That is odd for it to be recognized in one place and not the other
On the bk2 (second generation is 2013+) it is the factory location. I have seen people swap the panels and I have seen some just mod the bk1 to make the 3 gauges work. Feel free to tag/post the picture to my twitter, facebook or instagram ;-)
I find Glowshift gauges to be pretty decent for the price. They're not the cheapest, but they're also not the best and they don't last forever. Basically none do, but 4-5 years max I'd say for their normal gauges before I started having sensor issues or gauge issues which are easy/cheap to replace. I've had maybe 4 or 5 of their wideband O2 gauges with sensor on different cars and it's relatively consistent and it has a datalogging output too. Glowshift also sells specific replacement parts which is handy in the long run. Also, you can change the colors to match your interior or to pop a bit more. They also have fairly consistent promotions if you're on their email list. 10-20% off is somewhat common.
Hey what’s up, I just got some gauges for my 13’ 3.8 genny. I already hooked them up and they look awesome but I ran into an issue. I don’t know how to run the wires from inside the cabin into the engine bay, I can’t find any spot that I can pass the firewall so I keep hook up the wideband/oil pressure/oil temp. Do you or anyone else that you might know have a video or maybe pics as to where I can run the wires so I can end up in the engine bay? Would really appreciate the help man thanks
Nice. I don't have any pics specifically, but I ran the wires through the sound generator tube hole from when I installed mine. It comes in behind the dash but you just need to go through the carpet and shouldn't have to unbolt anything if you hav an aftermarket intake
It's not that it's inaccurate per say, just that you can't view the actual temperature without hooking up to the OBD2 port and reading on a tablet/ smart phone. The gauge is nice because you can see the temperature anytime very easily and quickly.
@@InitialDIYmods Makes sense. I'm gonna check if they sell a tranny temp gauge (for an automatic). Having that pod with oil temp, oil press, and ATX temp would be sick.
these r nice cars but im discouraged in buying one due to all the bad press on the manual transmissions, also the autos are apparently bad aswell the manuals fall apart like a Chinese motorcycle from what im told, seeing as your a Genesis guy just wondering what your or any other Genesis enthusiasts thoughts are
full stack honestly they get a way worse rap than they deserve. The first generation autos are pretty bad, but the second generation auto is way better, especially with the 3.8 (sint know too much on the 2.0s since I'm almost never around them). The second generation autos also have Rev matching on shifts (idk if that started in 2013 or 2014) The manuals don't spontaneously fall apart. The main issue is either people trash them/beat the hell out of them with no maintenance and no proper care or people don't know how to drive manuals well. The biggest issue with the manuals is they tend to develop a grind shifting into 5th gear. In 2014 they improved the synchros .by changing the material to carbon to have better wear properties. Now I've never seen this in real life or with my car. I think the people that beat and destroy the car don't even change the transmission oil then complain it doesn't work well. When I drive, I usually Rev match so the synchros don't have to work as hard and they don't wear as quickly. if you take care of the car it does very well. 500 whp (about 620hp at the crank) and no issues so people that are stock power and missing shifts will most likely have more damsge that is their fault. hope that helps ;-)
ZaneHelpsYouGame buy only aem trust me i made the mistake 2 xs by buying 3 glo shift gauges that read way off of my log and data readings switched to evo gauges and got the same response. until my tuner told me to get aem i had a hard time tunning and getting correct reads
Yes spending more for better gauges is always recommended. Personally I have not had any issues with tuning and when I get tuned, We use a secondary O2 that can be logged so the interior one is just for my reference on the road. As far as I have tested, I have never had issues and they do carry a warranty if I ever have issues. I always double check my in the shop though and so far, they are accurate. Maybe I was lucky and got the better quality shipment idk. But I have had zero issues with them so far but I also understand that they are not known as the most accurate on the market. I definitely appreciate the comment though
Doing well. Just moved back to Houston and getting the garage set up for some more projects 😁. Yeah I still have the Gen but I'm not too sure what to do next once I finish the tear down inspection, the new pre and post turbo exhaust, new intake pipe system, another tune, etc. I worry that the car may be actually done at that point haha. What could be left besides body and paint work or something. Maybe more race events once things open up more.
Nice job wonder how hard it is to remove the dash pad over the main gauges thinking of getting mine wrapped in black suede.
