I'm so tired of hearing people say "the display is tiny for today's standards" dude the whole concept of the SE is "old is gold" reviewers really need to remove their bias and simple look at it from an SE lovers perspective!
Just bought it 3 days ago. I had an Iphone 6s for the last 5 years and I tried the Iphone 12 and pro and the mini. I couldn’t do it without the home button. And I don’t like the notch. From someone who had an Iphone 6s for 5 years, this phone is a game changer. I feel having the same phone but more efficient and performant.
I bought a 6plus on day one and still use it. It’s getting a bit slow though, but I need that home button indeed. I just wish it was 5,5” I hope the next SE will be.
Same boat here. Upgrading from iPhone 6s to the SE3. The lack of the home button sealed the deal. I don't get the obsession with the OLED display on the mini. It's clearly inaccurate and tests show it too. Would be nice to have for reading in low ambient light, though. Some people also keep on saying the SE2/3 design is dated. True, but the iPhone 13 mini shares the same design language as the iPhone 4-5, so what is the problem...
Had the SE 1st Gen and bought the SE 2020 last year and love it. Does everything I need and is super quick and has everything I need at a fraction of the cost. I also prefer having the 3D Touch ID too.
I’m 41 and still using SE Gen 1. I use my phone a LOT! I’m a mum and always on the go. I use it for appointments, phone calls, Facebook, TH-cam, google, smart home devices, all sorts of apps etc. The only thing I don’t use it for is games. It’s still a fantastic phone and I’m sure when the time comes I’ll find the SE 3rd Gen awesome and long lasting too! Not just for the kids or elderly!

I bought SE3 a month ago now, came from a 6S and I love this "old" design with the new performance. This rewiew is good, thanks for that. Ohh and shoutout to your son. He's such a cute little guy :)
The one simple reason I went for the se 3: Touch ID. This is the one essential feature for me, and honestly I would only stick with Apple smartphones for as long as there is a Touch ID version phone.
While I do like Face ID I´d like to see a Touch ID & home button on the series 13 iPhones as well. I really lost count how many times I accidentally clicked on a link or opened another app while trying to close one via the gesture commands (swiping upwards from lower edge of display).. You don´t have that problem with a physical button.
This is why I haven’t bothered upgrading from my iPhone 8 (which still runs really smooth on iOS 15). I have an XR for work and Face ID is the worst, it’s hard to use with a mask on (although the latest update supposedly fixed that, I’ve yet to bother testing it), you can’t use it if half your face is smushed in a pillow, if it’s on a table and your hands are greasy you have to half stand up to hover over it to unlock it or type the passcode in, you have to look directly at your phone to unlock it etc. With my 8 I just place my thumb on the home button when I pull it out of my pocket and by the time I look at it it’s unlocked, and I have my left pinky registered so if I’m eating food I can unlock it easily without moving or picking it up off the table. I’m sure I could get used to Face ID but I think I’m at the point where I’m realising consumerism is bad for the planet and also a waste of money and I just don’t need a phone with more than one lens, or a QHD screen, or 20 hours of battery life, or OLED, or 120 hz etc. Houses aren’t cheap so I’d rather save or invest the money I’d spend on a phone these days. Just going to replace the battery on my iPhone 8 and hopefully get another 4 years out of it before I bother upgrading to whatever SE is around then or maybe if Apple has introduced an under-screen fingerprint reader I’ll go with a phone with that, I just absolutely hate Face ID. Face ID is just a total gimmick and makes using the phone more inconvenient. I’d rather have a smaller screen phone with Touch ID than a larger screen phone with Face ID, although I’ve just checked my XR vs my 8 and despite the XR having a much larger screen there’s still 6 * 4 icons on the Home Screen. Seriously with iOS, the way it’s been created having a larger screen doesn’t really make that much difference from what I’ve found.
I bought the SE in 2020 and love it. I am not a techie, I don't play mobile games. I use it for podcast and TH-cam and reading news articles. I also love that it is not massive I actually love the small screen. It does everything I need.
I love the SE, for someone who is a tech enthusiast, I do like the old form factor and the one hand usability and Touch ID that is a nice thing to use especially Apple Pay and unlocking the phone generally
I don’t have my se anymore but it’s not because i didn’t like the phone, i actually also prefer the older form factor also, it’s sleeker-not the bezel-just the shape.
Decided to get the new SE instead of the Mini because the latter has an OLED display which tends to have burn-in if you leave a static image for too long and also uses PWM which can cause eye strain on some people. LCD screens don't have these problems.
@@onmymomma1766 In other words, the SE has superior success and superior price (cheaper). That's not much but it is something. Mini is the overall superior model.
@@David-xr6dj nope lol the mini has a better battery, a better camera (SE doesn't even have night mode) and an OLED screen while the iphone SE has an LCD screen (they used the iphone 8 screens lol)
@@MrPostmanish Yes because the battery on SE 2 is trash. It drains so fast. Sometimes I had to charge it like 2 times a day. But for SE 3, it's not like that.
@@MrPostmanish not sure if you made the decision yet or not but I suggest you purchase the iPhone SE 2022 between these two, cause A13 chip is a product from 2 years ago, even if you feel satisfied with that now , it won’t last longer than SE 2022 which has A15 chip in it.
@@Sty3d8m100y Im thinking between SE3 right now and 12 mini.... 12 mini more price but something new in case of bigger and oled screen , face ID, new formfarctor. SE3 is something i have used last 8 years as iphone 6 formfactor and feels so good in 1 hand usage. But 12 mini gonna get less updates coz a13 vs a15 on SE3. + thinking to get airpods 3 or pro, so with 12 mini its gonna be pricy. And not sure about color on SE3. Starlight have same silver edges as my iphone 6 , which looks good, i more like silver edges than white color. But as color i more like midnight, but i feel like dark color gonna make side bezzels look bigger, not sure about that. Maybe i shld go for RED)) So im confused AF coz id like to buy it for a long term of usage so everything shld be perfect, which is impossible)))
It was a serious toss-up for me between the SE and the 13 Mini, as I'm on a pretty tight budget. In the end, I chose the Mini because even though they should last the same amount of time in terms of power/updates with the chip, I thought the Mini was probably the better choice for longevity in other ways. Battery of course comes to mind first, but it's everything else, too. 64gb base storage is a hard sell for me when I think about 5+ years with the phone. The Mini's OLED panel and smaller bezels will look better for longer. The cameras will be relevant for longer. MagSafe is a thing now, so it's nice to have options for that going into the future. I might get the SE if I knew I could upgrade in two years, but that just isn't the case. It's worth it to spend a little more now to get an overall better experience for longer. PS; I love the Mini and now I think I'd want it even if I had Pro Max levels of budget. It's that good.
Very helpful. I’ve been umming and ahhing about whether to get the 13 mini or SE3. I think the 13 mini camera is swaying that way as I do quite a bit of photography on the phone. I love my SE2 but the battery life is irritating at times
@@AJT296 as a 12 mini user the battery is pretty garbage so I don't think you'd be that surprised with superior battery life over the SE but the display and the cameras with the addition of night mode make the mini a better all around device.
It is the 7th most sold phone in 2022. You cannot even use the word trash. It has the fastest processor to date, great form factor, decent display, fantastic speakers, wireless charging, AND it will be supported for at least 5 years from now. C'mon man, you are being WAY too harsh on this phone. And the home button is awesome!!!! By the way, love your videos and you earned a sub. I'm struggling on whether to go with an SE 3 or the mini 13. Currently using a Pixel 6A.
I’ve just had my SE for 10 days and it’s fantastic compared to my old SE original. It does everything I need at super fast speed and the battery life is great. At the price it’s excellent 😄
@@JSLReview I think the iPhone SE is bad on purpose because Apple doesn’t want it to interfere with their higher price iPhones. They want people to pay $1000 instead, they won’t admit that, but it’s true.
This is the last year Apple will have two new small flagships. They're rumored to kill the Mini line and the next SE will probably have more of a XR design.
I’ll believe it when I see it. I love how the SE feels to hold. My Xr felt bulkier in comparison - was always afraid of dropping it. And my wrist really appreciates the difference.
Regarding the battery, the SE-3 uses a 2018 mAh battery compared to the 1821 mAh used in the previous generation, so there is more capacity. Additionally, tech specs claim 2 extra hours and 10 extra hours of video and audio playback respectively on a full charge over the previous generation. I'm satisfied with mine so far, as I mainly use for utilities.
Had my SE now for a few days and couldn't be happier! For a budget/value phone it rocks. Compared the 13min to the SE before deciding, and the 13 mini's form factor reminded me of the 1st Gen SE - with it's angled case, while the 3rd gen SE just felt right. Don't get hung up on bells and whistles you'll rarely use or miss, or a slightly bigger screen. If you have a true need for a bigger screen, consider an IPAD.. Excellent phone.
@@Stevintage Battery has been fine. Even in the FL heat/sun - it holds up as expected, a good deal better than the Gen1 SE. All but possibly power users should find it sufficient.
Here’s my opinion. At first I was among those that hated the design and wanted Touch ID in the power button to get a full display. And while I think that would’ve solved the outdated look, I’ve come to realize the reason this phone is excellent is for the value. People in the tech world tend to obsess over specs like the display, multiple camera lens or a huge screen. While those are nice to have, the reason people buy this iPhone is because it’s a reasonable price and it works very well. Then it’ll be supported so long. I also hear the SE has a 2018 mah battery and a few reviews mentioned getting a little over 6 hours of screen on time. Which still won’t be for heavy users but perfect for moderate users like myself.
I’m getting great battery life from my SE3. I love this phone, love the size and functionality. If your battery life sucks, I suggest checking out Payette Forward’s TH-cam channel for settings you can turn off (and never miss) that will greatly help battery life.
@@crazyfun5150 not sure what you mean exactly. My phone easily lasts the day on a charge. Now that being said, I’m not watching hours of TH-cam on my phone, I’m using my iPad for that. But for checking email, reading google news, watching some TH-cam it’s great. Check out Payette Forward for settings to change that can assist in prolonging battery life. I had the SE2 I (anecdotally) my battery life is longer with the SE3
I hate the commentary that this phone is outdated or the screen is too small, this isn't a phone for content consumption, or extreme smartphone usage in general. If that wants to be done then get a full screen device.
Personally I had an iPhone se 2nd gen 64gigs, and it was my first phone i liked it. At school I listened to music, played games, I rarely made phone calls, I took really good photos with it (I love photography), and the battery was fine, I made sure it didn’t get too hot or cold, storage was also fine. The iPhone se is a good for first phone for your kid, if all they need is the bare minimum. Upgrading to a higher and better phone is optional, its a luxury, unless your kid needs a phone to record up to 4K at 60 fps for the next avengers movie.
Couldn’t be said better. I’ve had the original SE for the longest time. In 2020 I got the SE 2 and it was better than what I had but finally I upgraded the the more luxurious iPhone 14 Pro. But it’s a great starter phone for kids
It’s a budget phone that has a faster processor than many flagships. It’s for the minimalist, a kid’s first phone, or an elderly person’s last phone. It doesn’t need bells and whistles, it just needs to work.
@Pedro Alves That’s what some people are familiar with and they will gravitate to the SE 3 when their older iPhone kicks the bucket. My in-laws have had their iPhone 7 for forever and they still don’t understand some of the features but they’re happy regardless.
@@mannyquinn5841 I loved the se2 for that reason alone. Sadly, there are days when you need your phone and the battery couldn’t keep up. Edit: you to your.
I think it boils down to a very simple question: do you watch a lot of video content or play games on your phone. If not, this is the best phone you can get since the only major drawback is screen size and battery. As someone who carries my laptop with me all the time for those two purposes, this phone is the best for me. (For navigation at full brightness, I can charge my phone in the car!)
I have an SE 2016. And I watch TH-cam _a lot_. And while I sometimes can’t read what’s on the screen, it’s not something that bugs me. So I think new SE will be ok.
Alexa Tri nice! Didn’t know you could do that! I have purchased the new SE now though. So far pretty happy with it. Had it for about a day :) My old was only 16gb, so while battery was bad , the lack of space was worse. And was on an ios from 2018. Lots of apps no longer worked because of it. 1st gen was good though. I liked it a lot!
Actually the iPhone SE is THE phone to go for if you watch a lot of videos. The iPhone 13 sucks for videos because the corners are rounded and the camera blocks part of the screen so you can’t see the whole thing. I’d be willing to pay $500 more in order to get the SE over the iPhone 13 since watching videos is the main thing I do.
I just purchased one and I absolutely love it. I’m going to buy another one. The camera is just fine. I’m tired of hearing about cameras. It takes great pictures. The display is crisp. The phone is a rockstar.
I was looking for a iPhone to make phone calls and text, and I didn’t want to pay $900 to $1,000 dollars just to make phone calls. I have an iPad Pro for doing more serious stuff as all the iPhones don’t have large enough screens to do anything serious. So for the price the 2022 iPhone SE does the task I need it for, make phone calls.
I've had the 1st gen and the 2nd gen and loved them both! I ended up upgrading to a 12 mini and then I switched to the Google Pixel 6a and I am now going to be getting the 3rd gen at the end of the month, because I have been missing my iPhone, I've had an Iphone since iPhone 4 and I wish I never gave up on it. I can't wait to get the 3rd gen SE. I was going to go with the 13, but seeing reviews and what not I'm really loving the SE the most!
The part that sucks about the iPhone 13 is the rounded screen corners and camera blocking part of the screen so you can’t see the whole thing when watching videos which is mainly what I use my phone for. The iPhone SE screen is much better for that.
I love the se, this will be my second one, went with the 128g version, fits in my pocket, im 55 I am a pc gamer, not a dirty console or phone gamer lol. I use my phone...as a phone , but also for music and surfing/shopping when I am not at home. I hate the big phones they remind me of high school girls in the mall. my 1st cell phone was a bag phone btw. good job on your review I liked it. ( even with the otter box pro it fits in a shirt pocket!)
As someone with sensitivity to PWN from OLED panels. This is literally the only option I have from apple. Other than iPhone 11. Maybe iPhone 11 is a better choice? It does have a more modern design but it’s also aging. I really want a Pro Max phone with Mini LED and I am still waiting.
Yes he’s right the iPhone 11 will have much more decreased performance and battery in iOS 16. We saw the same happen to the XR because the value goes really down when 11 will stop being sold and it will be too cheap so lots of people will try to buy it so apple will throttle it.
After two years I swapped my iPhone 12 Pro Max for a SE 3 (Product Red), prior to that I had iPhone 11,8,7, 5c...... Phones have gotten too big, heavy, and bulky. I love the feel of the SE, only con is the battery drains faster than the 12. I'm more of an outdoors person so I don't want a brick in my pocket. People say the SE is dated but its got the 12MP camera, A15 chip, and 5G.
You’re absolutely right I hope that the iPhone SE adopts the iPhone 13 mini and 12 minis body style so that the sizing and form factor still keeps going. I had the iPhone 12 mini and it’s a great phone I’ve had it since release day almost a year and a half ago. My son has the iPhone SE 2nd GEN 2020 and he has had that phone for almost 2 years and it’s still running strong. You do a lot of great videos keep up the good work I watch all of them.
One of the things that people criticize the most are the edges of the SE. I recently returned the iPhone 13 Pro Max for several reasons, one of them is that I have nowhere to hold the phone without interacting with the screen, I always have to hold it by the edges without touching the screen with my finger. With the SE design my finger can hold the phone without obstructing the image or interacting with the screen. I went back to my iPhone SE 2020. I hope Apple never stop making the SE.
As someone who has always had to use outdated or budget phones, but always loved the look of the iPhone growing up, this is perfect for me. I don't use a phone to heavily. I like to browse the usual apps here and there. They run so smoothly, everything is clear and snappy, while having a battery life that lasts me about 2 days on average. A little less on the weekends. The pictures are amazing, the audio quality from the speakers and just from phone calls sound crystal clear, and its extreemly afforable compared to others phones like it. Was so easy to transfer my android stuff to it, and all of my devices connected with no issue. To someone who doesn't need the constant upgrades, or features, loves the look of the classic iPhone, this is literally the perfect phone to pick up.
hello! I have the iPhone 6 and I'm thinking of buying the iPhone SE 2020. Found a used one for $150. Is it worth it for me who doesn't want the newest but a good mobile that can use all social media, call and can take reasonably good pictures? 😀
I currently have the iPhone SE 2022 3rd generation it's refurbished, 128GB storage memory, 89% batter health when I turned it on to check it out. Just got it the other day
I’ve had it a week now and I love it! I think you will be surprised how many of these they will sell, once word gets around. Everyone I show it to are blown away by it’s speed, light weight, touchID, premium build, price and 5G (which you overlooked). This is going to be BIG!
Such an amazing SE 3 review! Your setup is so cool and your vocabulary is so rich! As an asian, I hope I could be as fluent as you! Anyway, your kid is so cute! 😄
Since owning the new iPhone SE 3 I’ve noticed that the screen is easier on the eyes than my oled iPhone 13pro. The lcd panel offers a true white whereas in comparison the iPhone 13 has a slightly pink hue. I wonder if anyone else has noticed this?
Yeah as I replaced my se2 with a 13 mini and saw the screens side by side. I feel like oled is overrated although I would hate the 13 to have an lcd as the bezels would be too big. Also quad hd seems more important for oled than lcd. I didn’t notice the pixels on my se2 despite the lower resolution. But I notice the pixels sometimes on my 13 mini.
Will be getting this phone. Love that it is old school like my iPad 8. Will be very comfortable with it. Updated internals and iOS 15.4 will be fast. Should pair well with my iPad.
I still use my iPhone 8 when I go running or cycling because it’s so slim and light. Great for my music (also use it in the car), tracking and any messages coming in. Camera is still good enough to make interesting Instagram snaps.
Wonderful review Jason. I'm looking for a new phone to replace my iPhone 6S. This seems to be it, or maybe even the 12 or 13 mini like you've suggested. Everything casual looking on my youtube channel was shot with the iPhone 6. Works decent, but now the battery life is dying. I think it might be time for a replacement! Thanks for the walkthrough!
Just bought one on OfferUp for 80$ and it’s pretty great! I had an iPhone 11, then got an iPhone 12. But I wanted the smaller form factor but after a while, I kinda missed the even SMALLER form factor. I then swapped to a Motorola Edge 2022 and while the phone is great overall; 144hz, OLED screen, 30w warp charging, screen finger print reader, etc. (completely opposite of small” Now Late January I went back to this iPhone and I’m really enjoying the speed and comfort of the phone! Battery life is about the same as the iPhone 12 to me. I really enjoy the fact that it’s older looking and yet feels blazing fast and charges decently fast. My biggest con with this phone is the fact that some apps are just scaled up. For example on OfferUp I can only see 4 listings at a time because they’re all zoomed in. Whereas on my other phones since there is no bezel they can way more room to show stuff! Overall great phone and for the price, I couldn’t go wrong. Oh and speakers are definitely like the iPhone 8 😢😂 Oh and 5G is definitely nice! Also the camera looks about the same as other iPhones so price to performance is awesome!
I don’t choose sides for tech, I use what I want when I want. And right now the iPhone is just reliable as a daily and the android is such a good secondary phone that can do it all! I use both phones equally because what iPhone doesn’t have android does and vice versa! I still find it hilarious that Apple Music looks so much nicer on android then on IPhone hahah
Just bought my gen3 SE today and im loving it. Everyone has different needs for a phone, therefore for heavy user this wont do. But im light to medium mobile user and for me this is perfect compact phone. Definitely not for everyone :)
I think it’s good enough for my 13 year old son. I got it because iPhone has great parent controls. I have the 14 pro max and my wife has the 13. I was always an android guy until I tried an iPhone. I’m an iPhone guy forever.
I have one, and it’s fine. It’s not cutting edge, but it serves me well. My life does not revolve around my cell phone. I have one because modern life requires it. Battery life is totally adequate. I’m sure the 13mini is a better phone, but it’s not $270 better.
What does it matter what the design is? It is what is under the hood that counts. I am buying a phone for its functionality rather than trying to buy a phone to show off to your friends, which seems to be the trend of all these review videos. Apple is not about how flashy it can be but rather how economical.
A nicely balanced review of Apple’s latest budget phone. Whilst I did own one of the 2nd generation iPhone SEs I quickly grew tired of it. The latest SE is so similar to the previous model that it almost appears as if Apple is simply trying to tempt every & anyone who’s thinking of buying a new phone to get one of theirs for no better reason than it’s new. Whilst I love Apple products the SE has, in my opinion, too many compromises to make it a serious consideration.
One of the few who can see the big picture with these SE models....for the money ($500 for the base model out the door) there's much better options on the android side.....
Just got mine after having had the iPhone 12 (I hated the big phone, and desperately missed my home button) and I have to say, I’m loving it so far. I hope the software improvements and bigger battery make it a decent daily driver.
Bigger battery? Im happy you like it but apple tend to ruin the phones with their soft. updates. Also for the price this is the best aaple offers. I believe iphone 11 is about the same price but offers more. Anyways enjoy the experience!
I did the same! Came from 12 cause it was too big and missed the Touch ID. I don’t care for big screens and photo specs. This one takes great pictures, a satisfied 5G and a battery that lasts for day by day. It’s awesome.
SE 2022 plus an iPad is a good combo for a price point that eclipses other Apple phone products. I know that there are those people who use the phone for everything, but for me, it's a phone and VOX device, plus quick lookup on google or some music sites. I don't need a sophisticated camera. I like (love) the home button. I'm glad my Shure MV88 plugs into the carcass. No dongles required. So, for me, it's a winner with my 6s trade in ($100)
Well, say what you will, but that kid stole the show!!!! Now, I really enjoy your tech & teaching videos. They are sharp and matter of hand. I will buy this new iPhone, maxed to its limited capacity, without the SIM card, and, voilà: My new IPOD!!! Keep on sharing!!
Tested it out a few days ago - loved it. Coming from the SE 2020, this 2022 model is a dream. So much more fluidity. Picking mine up after work today and can't wait!!
I don't understand people who say "Well, they should've made it like the new iPhones, full screen with FaceID!" - c'mon, if you want a small iPhone with the full screen display and FaceID, you can just choose one of the Mini series, 12 or 13. iPhone SE is for those who want an iPhone with "old" design, but yet a powerful one, with the latest chip.
I'm one of those guys who use a phone primarily as a phone. So I bought a 128GB model for $479 + an iPad 10.2 9th gen for $300 (price at BJs). I feel like I got a free iPad compared to other phone options in the SE3's class.
@@SIHRA2 base model IPads suck ass. They use outdated chips and screens on them. Games and videos look like shit. iPad Pro or air is the way to go for vibrant videos.
I was using iPhone 12 mini but when this model SE V3 came out I quickly switched over. I really like the fingerprint rather than Face ID. I don’t have to take off mask when I use SE cuz it got fingerprint ID. It’s small easy to keep in pocket. I was using iPhone 5. This SE S much bigger than the iPhone 5.
The 2022 iPhone SE is a really great for people that like having a home button ,don’t like the new iPhones without a home button and that don’t like the change from what are used to 😎
I love my new 2022 SE. Many people don't need a large, expensive phone and like touch ID, home button. It has a good camera, 5G, A15 chip. Who cares if the design is not the latest? It's light and slim. I have Midnight, which has blue in it.
I did and it's fantastic content ! I've been thinking of getting this one because that way I can reduce my phone usage and use it for its purpose. I don't use social media or games but watch lots of videos and listen to music. I currently use 1+Nord !
I wish they made the SE the size of the iPhone 4 but without the bezels. I really don't use my phone that much, I just need it because I do almost all of my work on the Mac. I just need a phone that really integrates into the system, but isn't so large I feel like I'm carrying a brick. Especially since the last SE was about the size of the iPhone mini 12. I'm still on my iPhone8 I might update to a mini, but I hear they might discontinue them. It's really sad that small tech is being discarded. As someone who is smaller framed, and short, I enjoy being able to carry compact devices. The iPad mini, the 13 inch Mac, iPhone mini, the 42mm watch. I know most people prefer the large tech, but to me it's absolutely perfect. I do actual work, I don't game. So I wish apple made more devices that weren't all about trying to keep up with the latest App Store games, and more focused on compact, and work efficient devices.
The only complaints are about the hardware why complain if this phone isn’t for you. I personally love the old design I’m not a power user . The battery has actually been really good comparing to the last SE . I noticed the difference in battery Apple claim of extra 2 hours is right. It’s really a smooth phone with the A15 functionality is superb IOS is the same as the IPhone 13 pro max . If you don’t care about the extra bells and whistles this phone is excellent. Optimization is silky smooth. Comfort in hand feels great compared to the square IIphone 13. This phone isn’t for someone thinking this particular model should have everything as the other models . It’s the SE and most people should know that. Bottom line it’s Apple with the A15 for $429 compared to $1400 for the same A15 in IPhone Pro Max . As far as everyday use runs the same operating system as any other IPhone .
The SE will take better pictures in more situations except for ultrawide and extreme low light, where 11 has night mode. Even at night, without using night mode, SE 3 takes crisper pictures.
@@CheukNamSiu hey you sure of that? i'm holding SE now,and i didn't find there is better video recording quality than my android device, and i had experienced once unusual reboot..
This week I bought a customer return almost new iPhone SE 2020 for £229. It does a similarly good job as the iPhone SE 2022. I do not need 5G because it is unavailable in most of the places that I visit.
I love lcd screen than oled. I will go for se 2020 2nd phone cuz update will last for several years. For battery use, just turn off data background for every apps u dont use.
New iPhone SE - great or trash??
Great, at least for me because 13 mini is quite expensive where I'm from!
Trash
GREAT
trash cus 4 the 1/2 price can get 2x more options & 2x better everything
TRASH because it's a dated AF phone just upped internals, like fitting a modern engine to an old car
Same. I used to have a phone with a notch and I hate it. I'm an SE 2 usee now 🥰
@@snowymuffin If you want a phone without a notch , you are in the wrong side 😈

I hope the next SE will be.
Home button guy too, I think I'm grabbing this phone.
How much screen on time it gives?

I used to feel the same way until I got the 13 mini. Face ID is great!
@@Spacemonkeymojo Face ID with mask is only available for iPhone 12 and newer.
@@ProtectusCZ really? So not all phones with Face ID? That sucks.
I bought the SE in 2020 and love it. I am not a techie, I don't play mobile games. I use it for podcast and TH-cam and reading news articles. I also love that it is not massive I actually love the small screen. It does everything I need.
Just ordered one yesterday ☺️ My first ever iPhone 😃
I love the SE, for someone who is a tech enthusiast, I do like the old form factor and the one hand usability and Touch ID that is a nice thing to use especially Apple Pay and unlocking the phone generally
I don’t have my se anymore but it’s not because i didn’t like the phone, i actually also prefer the older form factor also, it’s sleeker-not the bezel-just the shape.
Face id is far superior and convenient, any preference for touch id is just biased nostalgia or just ignorance about what face id actually does.
Decided to get the new SE instead of the Mini because the latter has an OLED display which tends to have burn-in if you leave a static image for too long and also uses PWM which can cause eye strain on some people. LCD screens don't have these problems.
thankyou for this
There's something fundamental that the iPhone SE has and the iPhone 13 Mini doesn't have, making it an inferior phone: touch ID
no, iphone mini isn't an inferior phone at all lmao

U think it worth to buy SE 3 over SE 2? Im on iphone 6 right now and thinking about SE3 or SE2.
But 12 mini gonna get less updates coz a13 vs a15 on SE3. + thinking to get airpods 3 or pro, so with 12 mini its gonna be pricy. And not sure about color on SE3.
Good choice 👍
Very helpful. I’ve been umming and ahhing about whether to get the 13 mini or SE3. I think the 13 mini camera is swaying that way as I do quite a bit of photography on the phone. I love my SE2 but the battery life is irritating at times

@@JSLReview I think the iPhone SE is bad on purpose because Apple doesn’t want it to interfere with their higher price iPhones. They want people to pay $1000 instead, they won’t admit that, but it’s true.
As a straight talk user, I'd take the iphone 11 (299 website list) over the 3rd gen se(379) as price point goes but definitely a great little phone.
@@OleHippy maybe the Mini just becomes the SE 🤔
Regarding the battery, the SE-3 uses a 2018 mAh battery compared to the 1821 mAh used in the previous generation,
so there is more capacity.
Excellent phone.
it's everything but excellent
how is the battery? Trying to decide for my mom

@@jwinters9974 ok thank you. my mom is definitely not a power user.
Just ordered one yesterday 🙂 My first ever iPhone 😃
😴
I’m getting great battery life from my SE3. I love this phone, love the size and functionality. If your battery life sucks, I suggest checking out Payette Forward’s TH-cam channel for settings you can turn off (and never miss) that will greatly help battery life.
@@SandMark22 what kind of screen on time are you getting?

But for checking email, reading google news, watching some TH-cam it’s great. Check out Payette Forward for settings to change that can assist in prolonging battery life. I had the SE2 I (anecdotally) my battery life is longer with the SE3
i work in IT and i'm very into specs but i chose the SE because it felt silky smooth in my hand. i love holding it. i hated holding the other phones
Damn 😂
It’s a budget phone that has a faster processor than many flagships. It’s for the minimalist, a kid’s first phone, or an elderly person’s last phone. It doesn’t need bells and whistles, it just needs to work.

MINIMALIST! That's the key word.
@Pedro Alves very true. I always get that look from my wife to put my phone down.
Had it for about a day :)
My old was only 16gb, so while battery was bad , the lack of space was worse. And was on an ios from 2018. Lots of apps no longer worked because of it.
1st gen was good though. I liked it a lot!
Alexa Tri thanks mate! 256 gb should last me a bit this time!
@@BimmerWon the notch and rounded edges really put me off too. I want all the info in frame
Same!
IPhone 11 is going to quickly have performance issues that will hinder its battery due to the release of iOS 16. I would go with the SE

Should pair well with my iPad.
i like how the SE home button matches my older ipad. just updated the ipad to the newest ipad OS and if feels like a new device now. very snappy
I forgot to mention my favorite part of this phone is the home button. Also the 720p looks great.
iPhone SE 3 was just launched to change people's psychology towards Bathtub Notch. It Just makes the Bathtub Notch feel way better.

Now Late January I went back to this iPhone and I’m really enjoying the speed and comfort of the phone!
Oh and speakers are definitely like the iPhone 8 😢😂
Oh and 5G is definitely nice!
Coming from an iPhone 6, it's nice. Battery life and screen are the weaknesses.

Problem is that lots of ppl buy iphones to look flashy and call everyone else poor lol
Thanks for the feedback and for you thoughts!
One of the few who can see the big picture with these SE models....for the money ($500 for the base model out the door) there's much better options on the android side.....

I agree with you. SE in 2020 was a good deal. In 2022, it’s already a reach, tbh. This phone shouldn’t exist at this point.
That depends on the person. It’s just fine for my non-techie wife.

Bigger battery? Im happy you like it but apple tend to ruin the phones with their soft. updates. Also for the price this is the best aaple offers. I believe iphone 11 is about the same price but offers more. Anyways enjoy the experience!
@@denislavdimov2347 yes from 1800 maPh to 2250 maPh
So, for me, it's a winner with my 6s trade in ($100)
Just got the 2022 SE, scaled back from a XR. So far it’s perfect for my everyday needs
I’m really enjoying your videos keep up the great work bro 😎
Thanks bro!
@@JSLReview your welcome bro 😎
Well, say what you will, but that kid stole the show!!!!
Now, I really enjoy your tech & teaching videos. They are sharp and matter of hand.
I will buy this new iPhone, maxed to its limited capacity, without the SIM card, and, voilà: My new IPOD!!!
Keep on sharing!!
Appreciate the feedback!
@@JSLReview As we all appreciate your efforts out here. Keep them coming!!
No matter how much people trash this phone, it’s still gonna end up top 10 in sales this year
You are right it will.the 2020 sold almost 50 million.
Very well balanced review. And your son is soooo cute
Tested it out a few days ago - loved it.
Coming from the SE 2020, this 2022 model is a dream. So much more fluidity. Picking mine up after work today and can't wait!!
did you picked it ??
Could be, but if you got the 2020 SE, would you get the 2022 model?
Sweet 🙌
@@JSLReview if photography is my priority I will still go with my pixel 4a anyway
Same. I picked up the 256 gb se3 and 10.2 9th 256. Say no more. Love it
@@SIHRA2 base model IPads suck ass.
It’s worth it for a phone that’s cheap yet gets more then 5 years of updates. I want something that performs extremely good for its price.
Please tell me about ur battery experience?
You could probably find the se2020 for around $250 for literally the same phone, besides longer longevity.
FINALLY the one I was expecting - IPHONE SE 3 ! 🎉🙏
Hope you enjoy, thanks for watching!
I did and it's fantastic content ! I've been thinking of getting this one because that way I can reduce my phone usage and use it for its purpose. I don't use social media or games but watch lots of videos and listen to music. I currently use 1+Nord !
@@JSLReview hey Jason, here’s a joke, 2014 just called, they want their iPhone back. That’s how I describe the iPhone SE.
Dude your videos are so good and you deserve so many more subscribers! Keep up the good work.
Appreciate the kind comment man, thank you!
The 2022 iPhone SE is a really great value iPhone 📱 for everything you are getting Impressed
only by camera factor, would you recommand me to buy se3 or iphone 11? thanks i'm curious of stablazation between them ,i'm going to buy one of which
The SE will take better pictures in more situations except for ultrawide and extreme low light, where 11 has night mode.
This size is very confortable for 1 handed operation. Both in landscape and portrait.
I love lcd screen than oled. I will go for se 2020 2nd phone cuz update will last for several years. For battery use, just turn off data background for every apps u dont use.
The design is the only thing that bugs me out. Otherwise, this phone is awesome at the price that it's at. I think it's worth $429!
What about battery life ?
I chose the SE because I like the home button and I really dislike the huge camera bulges on the newer phones.
i love how it has the old iphone desings but if they do a model with a bigger screen it would be amazing
The main issue for me is the price. In the use market you can actually purchase an iphone 12 which is far better experience
Or a 13 mini used
Exactly this is a snooze fest
Totally worth it 👌. I'm getting one. Awesome video. 👌
I’m watching this on my iPhone SE 3 rn.
