    TYPO - f/1.8 not f/2.4 my apologies 9:19
The iPhone SE 3 is the rough equivalent of putting a Ferrari engine into a PT Cruiser- the A15 is overpowered, but can it make up for the old design's shortcomings?

I am an Android user never owned an iPhone before but Android phones are getting too big for me and too complicated and too expensive. Need a phone that does the basics right and fits in my pocket. The A15 chip, 5g, wireless charging, IP 67, good camera and the battery life has completely exceeded my expectations. I thought the battery life would be a deal breaker for me. Not any more. I don't think there is any Android phone that offers these features for the price.

I'm in the minority of people that actually prefers bezels. With how huge phones are now, it's already a pain to use it one handed. My fat palms just end up tapping the corner of screens that don't have bezels when I'm trying to reach and touch a different part of the screen. The physical design of this phone is something I hope never dies. I actually wish they'd bring back the body of the 1st generation SE, that phone was the greatest ever made.

I bought the SE3 for my 71 year old mom. She’s still using the 6s. I’m glad I was able to get her a new iPhone with the home button. When I told her I was buying her a new phone she said: “It better be an iPhone”. I planned at first to get her the 13, but the salesperson was great in recommending the SE3 to me for Mom. It saved me $300. Plus it’s a familiar design and easier for Mom to learn to use. Mom doesn’t care about the camera or the other bells & whistles available on more expensive new iPhones. SE3 is one she’ll be able to use (God willing) for another 9 years. She could have used my late Dad’s android phone. It’s only about 2 years old but she can’t figure it out. And she doesn’t like bigger phones. Thanks Apple for the SE3.

Light, small and fast with the latest A15 chip, so this phone is gonna be around for 3-5 years. The battery is good enough for someone who is not a heavy user like myself. She had a stroke in 2017 and the modern trend towards massive phones just doesn't work for her, so I got her this phone a few days ago, and the fact that she can operate it comfortably and with one hand since she's paralysed in one part of the body, are just incredible selling-points for someone like her. She also just doesn't like phones without fingerprint sensors. I hope Apple keeps this design.

I recently traded my iPhone 13 for the iPhone SE 3 and I’m so glad I did! I never really used the ultra wide camera or night mode or cinematic mode and besides the flash makes up for not having the night mode feature. I tried using Face ID but it just became very frustrating and never really made it easier for me. Also I don’t care for MagSafe I never invested in any MagSafe accessories but it was just cool to have. So all in all, when the iPhone SE 3 came out it was what I was waiting for. PERFECTION! Great video and nice comparison. I think there’s a reason the iPhone SE outsold the iPhone 12 in the year they were released and it goes beyond the price tag. Seems like there’s a sizable market segment who prefer this form factor over the iPhone X and derivatives. Like the video mentioned, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 13 mini are a better value on paper. But when it comes to real life usage, some people just find the SE more comfortable. So it’s good Apple offers both options.

there’s really a small group of ppl who actually care about the specs of their device. from what i’ve noticed, most of the ppl who buy a flagship device either get it because it’s the “best” phone, or because they got talked into buying it, or they just want a big screen. with that said, the se is aimed at ppl who just want a phone that works period. they don’t care about the camera spec, they don’t care about 5g, they don’t care about the chipset, they probably don’t even know what the chipset is. they just want a good priced phone that works. so, when we compare the se to the 11 to see which is a better buy, the reasons we come up with are moot to the person buying an se. you have to turn off your tech enthusiast brain to really understand why the se is still around.

Its been 3 weeks so far with the iPhone 12 and all I can say is that it plows through everything I can throw it at. From light tasks to heavy gaming, the phone barely breaks a sweat. The only complaint I have with it, is the battery. Apple did make the battery slightly smaller compared to the iPhone 11 and that is minor disappointment.

I think you missed the outdoors community that likes how indestructible this design is! Thick bezels= hard to break. And its so small that even with a beefy supcase it fits in the pocket of my flyfishing waders. And touch ID is nice when you have sunglasses or a hat or a helmet on. I think theres a segment of people like me who have never owned once of the notch devices and have had an iphone 8 forever and just basically want to replace it for cheap and get a new battery and processor so you keep getting updates. Honestly if I could easily replace the battery in my iphone 8 and was going to keep getting updates Id just keep it. Its a great phone for someone who just uses it to communicate, play music, take pictures, and do like doordash. I have an ipad and a mac desktop for when I want to get more into my device. Great video. I see so much trash talking from bleeding edge tech geeks and design elitists but they completely miss the point of the SE. Yes it's an "outdated" design, but that ignores the fact that it's a GOOD design that has stood the test of time. Home buttons & bezels were perfectly acceptable to these nerds from 2007 to 2018, but now all of a sudden it's an intolerable ancient terrible design they just cannot believe anyone would still settle for? FOH lol. I like it, I find it much more aesthetically pleasing than a featureless glass slab. There's nothing wrong with sticking with a form factor you're used to, ever tried to teach a stubborn old person to use new tech? I would rather drink bleach than teach my mother how to use gestures. The screen is perfectly good too, anyone who claims its so much worse than the OLED models either has bionic eyes or is lying. Lots of people can't handle OLED PWM either, this is the perfect phone for us.
Anyway it ain't that deep but I just can't understand these people who get personally offended by a phone they don't like, that absolutely no one is forcing them to buy. Live and let live, choice is a wonderful thing.

I think you heavily underestimate the value of an A15 to the budget user. An iPhone 11 is technically a better value in most other ways, but the importance of having a future-proof phone when on a budget can't be overstated. My dad is upgrading to an SE from a 7 for this reason. Yes, it's boring and a tad underwhelming, but with his budget he needs something that will last a full life-cycle of the product. Not one that is going to start slowing and getting buggy inside of a year or two.

Basically, if you're gonna compare this to the higher end of Apple's iPhone lineup, you're probably not the target demo for the iPhone SE. My mom has an iPhone SE2nd Gen and she uses it and enjoys it. In fact she makes fun of me struggling to unlock my fancy iPhone 12 with mask on while she just has to use that good old touch ID that doesn't care if you have a mask or not. I wouldn't bet this for myself because I need more out of my phone. Otherwise, I loved that phone and paid about $800 for it. It was time for a new phone, but only because of security support. I sat down and made a list of what I used my Samsung for. Photos-Only for depositing checks, Internet Surfing- No, phone calls-yes, texts-Yes, NFC-Yes, wireless charging-Yes, 5G-eventually but only the low band, 1Day Battery-Yes, 2Day-No, Readable Screen-Yes, Smallish Size-Yes, Touch ID-Yes,and the most important Deal Maker-Support-YES and for at least 5yrs! I then checked the used prices of iPhone SE 2020 models- $200. I was Sold. I paid 300 incl Tax after rebate for my new SE 2022, so even if I hated it I could sell it used for almost that. Why does it always have to be an old person or a broke person who this phone appeals to? I’m not old and I make good money I tried the 13 Pro Max and returned it as it was to big and I couldn’t justify the price when comparing it to a device like the se. I don’t care about looking cool and holding my iPhone so that everyone can see it I don’t pose in public with my iPhone looking for apple clout or something, the se is pocketable affordable and offers very good performance it’s a great value. As for all the people who complain about the battery where do you go in 2022 without access to a charger? My desk isn’t on the top of Mount Washington I have a charger at work in my truck and at home slap a MagSafe case on this baby and your in business! I can’t personally justify purchasing a $1,000+ telephone when a device like this exists but that’s just my personal opinion. Instead of saying this is for people who don't like change, I'd say it appeals to sensible people. The sensible people know: no one will tell the difference between the photos from this and another phone unless they're placed side by side, except for night mode, I'll give it that. And if you're going for those subtle differences, you should probably get a dedicated camera. The screen resolution: the difference is so minuscule that for your eye to resolve the difference you probably have to hold the phone inches from from your face. The battery life: if you're running more than 15 hours of video between charging then you probably need to take a break. Other than that, this phone does everything the other ones do at a better price.

This is also a phone for weirdoes like me! I'm a tech savvy bastard, meaning: I DO care about tech, am even quite picky. I'm currently still using a Google Pixel 2 because I absolutely love it and is also probably the last flagship android phone to sport a 16:9 display. I have also never used iPhones because of how "open" Android is compared. But at the same time, I'm a bit old-fashioned. I love classic cars, turntables with Vinyls, wired headphones, retro consoles, and so on.
But in particular, I always love seeing modern technology in an old design. Audio-Technica's bluetooth, AptXHD supporting turntables, the new Morgan Super 3, and the new Atari VCS, they just struck right with me. And the SE is one of those things. Old design ( if anything, I wished they still have a headphone jack ) with the newest specs, it's overkill in every way and I love it. Oh yes, and I also despise bezel-less designs. I prefer 16:9 as my aspect ratio, and the SE is the only new phone with that aspect ratio. I shall be getting mine very soon! 😊

@@crazyentertainment4842 Sorry mate, I'm not a big fan of Samsung phones.... I know they're great and all, but I'm not a big fan. I'm also probably only going to use an iPhone this one time only. I'm aiming for either an Xperia, a OnePlus, or yet another Pixel phone for the one after that. I can't stand being required to use gestures.
Thanks for the recommendation though 👍

Funny i dont like samsung either. I watched my dad changed to his 3rd Samsung(because of battery/white screen issue etc) while im still using the same vivo all these years and its still working fine.
(i also owned a iphone 6 but only use it for basic things due to battery life is terrible..maybe upgrade soon)

My wife just replaced her iPhone 7 with an SE. Since she uses an iPad Pro there was no other reason to use something more than a device that makes calls, can text and browse the internet when needed. She can care less about the camera functionality. I use an iPhone 14 Pro and an iPad Pro 12.9. The iPhone 14 Pro is overkill and wished I would have save a bundle by just getting the SE like hers.

    3:23 That's me, I'm the extremely small niche 😂
I'm setting up a workshop away from my home and I need networking as well as some automation, so I bought a cheap iPhone SE 2022 to plop a SIM card into and it'll be my semi-fixed hotspot for the HomePod, Macs and other equipment as well as my base station for Siri shortcuts and smart home stuff... That way I can monitor and control things in the workshop, including humidity and temperature, and make the shortcuts start and stop devices accordingly

Now that Apple has discontinued the iPhone mini, hopefully they will consider it as a new model for the next iPhone SE-4 generation.

A problem here in Australia, our currency is worth less, so more than $700AUD for a "budget" phone just really makes me wish our currency was worth more.

You can find an open box iPhone 12 Mini for about $400 US on eBay. I bought one, new condition, still on Apple warranty!

Rocking a 2020 SE for almost 2 years now as a first-time iphone owner, it's exactly what I wanted, the only negative being (ironically) that it's too thin and the battery isn't great. That seems to have been fixed now but I don't see a point in upgrading just for that. I hope they'll keep this design for many years to come.

@@lamadoo Depends on the case, I'm currently using a dbrand one and it's pretty good but the negative of it is that with that case it doesn't fit on a lightning dock.

@@dislikebutton4239 Doubt that, that would make the phone cost even more and in the end it wouldn't be worth it for them or the customer, I think they'll stick with this design for a few more years and then maybe switch to something that resembles the iPhone 12/13 Mini. But I believe they'll do that once most people get used to the lack of a home button and eventually stop buying this phone. Right now though Apple has one major advantage as no one really makes "classic" looking smartphones like the SE, and no one really makes small phones, they can milk that market segment for as long as they can tbh

Me freaking too except the 13 mini. I went to Best Buy recently just to mess with both of them. I love the feel of the mini but I love the home button even more.

    I want a 6S on IOS 12 still!
I want Peek and Pop and full 3D Touch support and I like the look and feel of IOS 12 plus I am used to it since I have been using my iPhone 6+ for about a year now.

      @@techreviewer On a 6S?
It depends on which IOS version you are on. On IOS 9 it is very fast. On IOS 15 it is slow but not too too slow. And I am not sure about IOS 12 but it should be pretty quick.
My 6+ on IOS 12.5.5 came that way. I would not have updated it if it was on an older version. But it is quite slow most of the time and often freezes when opening apps that I didn't close (You are not supposed to close apps on an iPhone unless they are misbehaving) and also if people are very talkative which happen a lot the iPhone will freeze trying to load all the messages. This is due to it having 1GB of RAM. TH-cam is a bit slow and a lil laggy but it works fine other than that.
Apps like Smash hit run fine, and so does Geometry Dash lite. Safari is VERY SLOW! Like dial up internet slow. Usually taking anywhere from 1-8 minutes to load a webpage depending on what it is.
But it works. Crossy road is very laggy making it almost unplayable but the lag does stop after running the game for several minutes. The stock apps are a bit slow but not too too slow. You cannot rush the iPhone 6+ since it will only slow it down. And you should spend a few minutes after you open an app (Even on the main page) for the iPhone to load everything.

The iPhone SE should come in a variety with the original iPhone 4s sized case. Coupled with a modern camera that would be the best iPhone
