Love this tutorial, thank you! Not sure if it was just my specific yarn/hook size combo, but I felt like my final row was flimsy and wanted to curl in even though there wasn’t any tension - it was just kinda weak. So for my final row, instead of alternating double crochet, front post double crochet, I alternated half double crochet, front post double crochet. It made my finally row just a bit sturdier, by eliminating the room you would otherwise be leaving for additional future front post stitches. Overall very pleased, I really love this technique!
Also, my corner with the seem has a more gaping look to it. I wish I had just done one chain in those corners instead of two, just to tighten it up. I may do that in the future. But your seemed corners turned out pretty. Again, it might have just been my yarn/hook size combo or something.
Thank you for this. I think I finally found a good border for my temperature blanket this year that allows me to showcase my temperature change legend the way I want it to. 😊
Gorgeous pattern. It’s complex and gives a really rich appearance. That said, you missed a golden opportunity to teach how to do a standing double crochet when changing colors instead of that “turning chain”.
Yes I like to keep my patterns easy and I think the standing double crochet is a bit more advanced. That said the more advanced crocheters can easily swap it for the turning chain!
This is lovely. I am working on a border following your tutorial. Most of it I understand clearly. That said, sometimes your thumb is directly over a stitch and I can’t tell where you’re placing your hook. I hold my hook and project exact same way you do so I understand when you pinch the project between your thumb and other fingers. But, I’ve had to frog several times because I I can’t quite see what’s happening. Thank you.
I love this video! A friend used this border on a blanket she knit and it looked great. I am curious. Can you tell me where you purchased that crochet hook? It looks beautiful. Thanks!

I am glad you enjoyed the technique. Tweak it to make it work for you. I tend to crochet a little tight.

Glad it was helpful!
This is a gorgeous border! I'll definitely be using it in the future!
That is wonderful!
Do I count one corner stitch on each end as part of the odd number?
Yes.

@winding road crochet. How long have you been crocheting? Also what the name brand of the hook you are using? Thx. Just curious
I like to use Furls crochet hook and clover amour hooks. I have been crocheting for about 20 years.
Wonderful tutorial. So clear and such a pretty border. Thank you. I am following your tutorial now ❤️
Thanks so much 😊
how much yarn do you need for a blanket border
depends on the size of the blanket
Absolutely beautiful! I am crocheting a blanket using the alpine stitch and wanted to make an alpine border…..very helpful!!! Thanks so much! 🧶
You are so welcome!
I love Alpine Stitch and wanted to make a square blanket but just cannot keep the 4 sides equal!! Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?
I would check my stitch count now and again.

I will try to be more conscious of that.

Thanks! It is a Furls Odyssey Hook.
@@WindingRoadCrochet thank you!
This was great, a bit fast for me. I did a lot of pausing and rewinding to understand and see what you where doing.
I will try to be slower on the next one.
Hi from Brazil!! Thank you for the post! How do you put the squares together?
This is a blanket border. I make a small sample square to work the border around. This way I can design and share more borders.
Very pretty! I learned the alpine stitch from you on a CAL and love it. I usually prefer a more classic border so this is perfect, thanks!
I agree, I like a border with a light texture. This texture is not too overwhelmingly raised.
