That's awful. It's a growing problem, just wondering if we need to petition for national or Universal criteria for registered service dogs. Something needs to be tweaked to minimize false and abuse of service dog representation. Thank you for sharing. Your baby just loves you. Looks like you had a great match.

    Hi:
I'm sorry you had to have this experience; it's always shocking the first time it happens, and as someone who has had service dogs for 26 years now, I can only say that for me, it doesn't get easier, it just gets more familiar.
I will just clarify on something you said, though: Service dogs do not have rights into public places. You, the handler, do; this is a very important distinction to understand because the service dog must be with the handler whose disability/ies the dog is mitigating. So if say your friend takes your dog into a space, even though your dog is a guide dog, he shouldn't be there because he is not mitigating your friend's disability.
As for what the manager told you, he is completely wrong, and I hope you either file a complaint or talk to the person who owns the place. You also have the right to record such incidents for documentation purposes. And you have the right to if necessary take the business to court for denying you service.
Again, I am sorry you experienced this; unfortunately it will not be the first time, and it sucks. I actually just taught a service dog access class to my student that I'm working with today and we talked about that very situation.
let me know if I can be of any help.
