    I've been using the beelink mini S (N95 )as a media/ work/daily use PC and I gotta say, my main PC is collecting dust now haha.
    I upgraded ram to 16GB and 512gb sata and 4 tb (2 + 2TB) external/usb with no issues of lacking of 5V usb power (1 to 1.5A per usb port).
    this cpu is very competent in daily tasks (web + background apps), multiple pdfs/docx (even gov Pdfs with 1000+ pages) that made me abandon my main pc for daily use. it's silent and sips power even under heavy load.
    Beelink did a good job implementing 4 usb 10gbps instead of 4 5gbps like other manufacturers. The only complain I have is the lack of 2.5G lan and yeah I know they did this to upsell the mini EQ12

    Got the Mini-S12 Pro with the N100 cpu......love it. The old potato is now just a back-up.

    I bought one (the n100 version) because my raspberry 4 just wasn't capable of desktop functions and my gamming pc was overqualified for watching cat videos online. So far, I'm impressed with its performance for basic PC tasks. It's actually kinda snappy.

    I definitely concur that these mini PCs offer way more value than the ARM-based SBCs on the same price range for most things. I have the same model reviewed in this video and I LOVE it! Installed Proxmox on it, created a couple of LXC containers for things like my Jellyfin media server, have a fully functional OpenMediaVault running as a bonafide VM with USB passthrough to the external hard drive and even have a testing Windows 11 VM that I boot every now and then to toy around with and it runs everything perfectly. I still need to figure out how to pass the host GPU to the LXC container properly so that Jellyfin can use the QSV support for hardware-based transcoding - probably something to do with the container being unprivileged - but it can handle 10-bit HEVC transcoding on the CPU with very little effort. Absolutely love it!! ❤

    I want to buy Rpi 4 8GB for my Nextcloud server but I'm surprised it was priced at around 150USD for the board. On the other hand a mini PC called ZX01 Plus already has N100 cpu, 12GB (4800Mt/s) soldered RAM, 128GB m.2 2242 SATA with Windows 11 Pro preinstalled, case, vesa mount, active fan cooling, and have a power brick. There's no brainer I bought the mini PC instead of rpi4 8GB.

    Hi nice review.
    Hope this PC still functions because I want to order one but I saw some bad reviews saying it only lasted to 6days

    I've recently gotten into 3D printing and have been researching Raspberry Pi to run Klipper and maybe some other relevant apps. However, I already own several mini-PCs and the price of the Raspberry Pi 5 B is comparable to the N95's I already own. I can't seem to justify the purchase of the Raspberry Pi at all and am really surprised at how few people choose the PC route vs the Raspberry Pi route when the N95 is far more powerful and the power envelope isn't really that much higher. Before upgrading to Klipper I had my mini PC running OctoPrint, Yawcam, and other software in the background and was still able to run other windows apps like Cura Slicer w/o a hiccup. It's baffling to me why one would choose the Raspberry Pi.

    I replaced my Win10 system with a Beelink S12/16GB/n100 running Ubuntu.
    I am all Linux now. BTW, Microsoft also changed their servers to Linux. Great minds think alike ?

    Bought mine with 16GB RAM and a 512GB (yes, really 512) generic (and pretty slow) NVME drive on some insane Amazon deal before Christmas. I threw an older Samsung SATA SSD in the 2.5" bay and installed LMDE 6. It's my new Plex server and works great, so I should probably just clone it over to a better NVME drive and get rid of the SATA drive altogether. It probably has enough power to run Plex and Openmediavault virtualised, so that's a possibility too. Then I could lose another PC and plug my DAS enclosure directly into the S12 Mini. Anyway, I've been really happy with the performance of this little box which replaced a 6th gen i5 for Plex, and it's even better at things like transcoding.

    Would QuickSync look better with faster graphics clock speed, or more cores, or both, or none? I noticed that the Intel graphics were pegged 100% in your previous encoding test. I wonder if the graphics of EVERY Intel CPU would be 100% in QuickSync, even a 13900K?!

    • @EVOTech1
      @EVOTech1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      quick sync seems to make the encoder reach 100% no matter how many encodes are being done. for example. my plex server runs on an intel Celeron G3930 which has the intel HD Graphics 610. I can get around 10 transcodes going all on the built in encoder. the iGPU and CPU on this Beelink system is much faster than that, so I would imagine the encoder will be able to handle even more workload. I think the reading for it is just misleading.

    I would like to run proxmox with windows kali vm and home assistant do you think it's ok to use n95 or n100? since it only changes the frequency of the igpu and the tdp

    • @EVOTech1
      @EVOTech1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      between the two, I would go N95 for the task. I dont have a system with a N100 so I cant really say if the TDP can be adjusted in bios or not, but a 6W TDP is going to limit performance greatly compared to something running at 15W to 25W. unless you're trying to maximize efficiency, I think having the higher wattage but more performance on the CPU will be better for the tasks your trying to do. The better iGPU of the N100 will not really help in the tasks your looking to do. for VMs you really want some decent core performance since it's running a whole OS. Maybe if you were looking to do only containers, but even then having better CPU performance is going to make tasks quicker.

    Even for lower end small form factor a little PCs like this I don't think single channel is really even necessary it should be dual channel

    • @amdrebataglia
      @amdrebataglia ปีที่แล้ว

      the igpu is so weak that strugles a lot with 3D render, even with more badwidth it wouldn't make 15% improvement.
      maybe the N97 or N300/305 could benefit more from dual channel but it's limited by the arquitecture itself.
      if intel launches the next gen with double of core count (at least staring with 6cores (to replace N50) all the way up to 16 (8+8 E cores of rocket lake) then dual channel is a must

    I have simple needs so S12 mini pc isfine, sale 8gb RAM OZC, 256 GB M.2 NVME 2280 OZC. Windows11 Pro. Upgrade because I could 16 GB Crucial 3200 $30. Not sure any difference.
    Looking at bigger M.2 NVME 2280 SSD Gen3 or Gen4 just for name brand over OZC?
    Prices are temping. My obsession asks if i would need heatsink for 1 or 2 TB?

    • @EVOTech1
      @EVOTech1  ปีที่แล้ว

      The m.2 slot is only rated for x1 speed so any ssd you put in there is going to be limited in speed. That does mean that any SSD in there will not need a heat sink since it won’t even get close to maxing out it’s load so no heat will be generated.
