    I have the Trigkey version of this system, I think it must be re-badged as it's layout is identical,, just the brand name is different. Fantastic little system, just loving the efficiency and low power draw for what it can do. Seriously thinking of selling my Unraid server (which is an intel 9th gen based system, quite power efficient, but nothing on this scale.) and replacing it with one of these. I don't have crazy storage needs, and it's easy to plug an external drive into one of these if you need the extra storage.

    The fact that Intel is artificially gimping their own products, just so it cannot compete with their normal power usage traditional desktop products, is worrisome. Limiting these wonderful, energy frugal CPUs on the iGPU is expected, but memory channel gimping them is unnecessary.
    As higher computing performance keeps getting unlocked at lower and lower power envelopes, they should have expected a point where the world of general computing and even reasonable server use opens up to these ultra power CPUs.
    As the ARM RISC world continues their trend from the opposing side - that is to say, from an ultra ultra low power base on an upward trend, eventually fully clashing with x86 on equal power draw terms, Intel and the x86 world shouldnt expect their rivals to do the same gimping.
    Interesting times ahead in the CPU architecture wars.
    Edit: Either way, Intel producing a CPU architecture that sips power like this while offering significant CPU grunt, should be commended. Glad AMD got them off their a$$e$ or we would probably be approaching $500 4 core CPUs right about now lol
    Lest we forget the desktop i7 7700k CPU alone was approaching a $400 MSRP at its launch in early 2017. That 7700k at stock is only marginally faster than this N95 😂

      from what I've seen on reddit, people with n95 and N100 processors have successfully put in 32gb of ram. unless Intel did manual hardware limitations, there should be in theory, no reason for them limit it to 16gb.

    • @EVOTech1
      @EVOTech1  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it depends on how you store your files. if you plan on keeping 10K+ torrents worth of files on here, you will not have enough storage expansion to fit all that realistically unless you're seeding tiny files or are ok with using external storage. Now if you have your own dedicated storage nas where you will keep the files themselves and just point the torrenting software towards it, then this is more than powerful enough to seed 10k+ torrents.

      If you're trying to complement a steamdeck, you should be looking into AMD APUs instead. Or on the intel side, something with 80+ EUs on their graphics. This would be the mobile i5/i7 line. That said, if you got a steam deck and don't need the power for what games you are playing, then ok sure. Just make sure because the steam deck is actually for gaming and faster than this. This is not.

    4TB NVME is cheap now, there is no reason why it would not work. NVME slot is universal for capacity, only speed is different. That's a pretty sweet home server and usb 2.5Gbe adaptors too are cheap for server and devices + cheap 2.5gbe switch and you have very high speed home or small office network. Heck for ordinary office use, everyone could have one instead of the junk they probably have.

    • @mokahless
      @mokahless ปีที่แล้ว

      It's an improvement with design changes and evolution on the same design as the "celeron and pentiums" you know. Just like it all goes back to the original atoms. It's not really that much better than the most recent celerons or pentiums either. It's just that the first celerons and pentiums are STILL being sold like new in mini PCs despite being 5+ years old.
      It's just a name change. That's all. But as this comment highlights, due to public perception due to the reasons I outlined, I agree with the need for a name change. Just like after atom got such a bad reputation.

    Replaced my Windows 10 system (that was getting its support cut off) with Ubuntu running on a Beelink S12.
    That little computer does everything I need it to do for less than $200. (Software and hardware.)
    This is bad news for Microsoft. They thought people would pay big money to go to Windows 11 ?
    Almost 70% of the systems out there were Windows 10 !
    Linux... This is the way. The Beelink unit comes with a mounting bracket and short HDMI cord so you can mount it on the back of your monitor.
    I hear that China has made a similar institutional decision. They are moving all of their systems to Linux and retraining their IT people.
    It is actually cheaper for them to change over to Linux than upgrade to Windows 11. Time to sell that Microsoft stock ?

    You start the video by saying this is in no way a gaming machine and should be used for other purposes. Then you go on to show performance in about 8 games wasting much of the video on the exact thing you said the system was not designed to handle.
    There is a huge hole in mini PC content creation. Nearly all reviewers focus on gaming on these low performance machines. A lot of reveiwers even hook these up to a full size GPU in a separate enclosure proving they have no clue about the broader market appeal of these machines.
    You know out of the 200 or so mini PC videos I've watched what I have NOT scene? Never once have I see someone open more than 1 browser tab. Try opening a browser with 10 extensions running & 20 tabs open like most people do in their daily life. Try opening Excel, Word, and Chrome. Have Spotify playing over bluetooth while you work on some documents or emails.
    The moment a single content creator starts understanding the silent majority doesn't watch mini PC videos because they are only about gaming...a thing people tend to buy a dedicated GPU to do instead of a low wattage mini PC - then that is the moment that channel will outgrow all the other mini PC channels.

      kinda agree. it's weird how he mentions its not for gaming then only runs the gaming tests, the thing its not for, on it

    • @mokahless
      @mokahless ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be fair, like he said in the video, anything you've mentioned really doesn't need much these days. There's no real benchmarking to do to see performance. If you already have a system for comparison and want something better, you can just compare yourself by using passmark scores as base.
      Opening tabs all at the same time can load up all your CPU threads, but after they are open, it really doesn't matter. Test spotify while writing a word documents? Really bruh? I have 25 tabs I open most of the time. This is not normal as you suggest. If you're having issues, you might just need more RAM.
      While there is an argument to be made regarding the creation of a benchmark that opens a bunch of tabs and times until fully loaded, it doesn't exist. The fact that the network is a variable in the equation makes it a non-repeatable test unless a dedicated offline benchmark is created. You're better off comparing passmark scores or cinebench or geekbench scores. Use multithreaded for things that load up your CPU like opening 20 tabs at the same time and use single-threaded for performance in tasks. As for your "spotify" test, it either works or it doesn't. There's little processing involved there and anything in the last 10 years can handle it just fine.

Had he said "intel NUC," however, then we'd have a problem and a "huge difference" as Intel NUC is an actual full PC product by Intel.
