      There have been false spec sheets floating around. There is a video where Gary, the owner of the company importing these in Utah, weighs it and its 320 lbs dry and about 370 lbs with 8 gallons of gas

      Hi Brett, thanks for the inquiry. This vehicle's claimed weight is 368 pounds. We say it multiple times in this editorial. The technical specifications chart we crafted has a typo of 'four' instead of 'three'. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you and our U.S. riding community. We take great pride in publishing the most accurate content.

    Quick overview and history of the bike.
    For all the bikers: don't judge the book by it's covers.
    Kove bikes are not copies of anything,they are built from a blank paper,with 2 main things in mind: lightweight and ridebility.
    Due to specialy designed frame and use of lightweight materials,kove bikes are the lightest in all categories.
    They use high quality components ( suspension,brakes,engines,frames...) there is not a single negative point on Kove bikes which needs replacement,revalving,strenghtening.
    The proof for that came on Dakar rally 2023,where 3 kove 450 rally entered the race and all 3 bikes made it to the finish line without mechanical issues.
    For 450 rally, i can say it reminds me on the old suzuki drz400, but improved in terms of suspension,engine,ergonomics,brakes, but keeping user friendly nature and durability.
    It is better on the road than non modified ktm690,husqvarna 701, and in offroad situations is nearly on pair with dirt bike class 450-500ccm.
    At the end of the year kove800x is comming..a 2 cylinder adv bike,with a dry weight of only 364lbs, solid not to soft suspension and 95hp.
    KOVE is also competing in WSBK 300 championship 2023.
    So...we can not say this is just another Chinese piece of crap. It is something different,very different.

      Once the aftermarket gets on it game over. Anything that needs upgrading will definitely get it from high quality aftermarket companies. The amount of accessories for this bike will be insanely wide. After 2 or 3 years this will be the go to 450 dual sport.

    Nice overview of the bike, the battery in this bike review IS NOT the battery that will be coming in the bikes! The bikes where air shipped in and we installed the wrong size cranking power battery. The Production bikes will have that solved. As for the shifting issue Im not 100% sure the cause but I have seen it in other bikes when a rider has landing hard on the shifter with with throttle which caused the problem. It has since been fixed and we have had 4 other reviews and 30 more hours on the bike since that time. The bikes are being punished almost daily! I appreciate what this review, it seems to be give from more of a street bikers perspective than a dirt biker but non the less it does point out the capabilities of the bike.
    The "low oil" is a translation error that will be corrected in the production bikes, what it means is "low fuel" China often refers to the fuel tanks as "oil tank" the prompt on the display for "low oil" was actually referring to "low fuel" it will be corrected on the production models. Happy to answer any questions that where not answered in this review.

    I often get flack for riding a Chyna bike but I don't give a damn. I committed to the theme for the foreseeable future to be the only one riding one in my group of friends that ride Harley, Indian, Hondas or Suzukis. I tuned up (too much to list here) and modified a Brozz 250 to a great degree, shes never left me stranded anywhere with 3,500+ miles currently. I surprisingly get a ton of questions most everywhere I go. Those that get to ride it are always surprised by how well it runs especially at that price point of 2K dollars to get started, Its my first bike. I figured if i wreck it -No big loss. I can buy 4 Brozz for the cost of a new Honda. What's also valuable is the knowledge i've gained tinkering and tuning it - a certain satisfaction.

    • @TroopThrowback
      @TroopThrowback ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MyNikmaster I’m not sure what you mean by your California comment, as USA homologation is not exclusive to California. There are plenty for whom a lack of US DOT certification is a registration issue in the USA. It’s not a large market, but even for those who can afford the bike it is a hurdle. American Dakar finisher Mo Hart mentioned just that fact in an interview on Chasing Waypoints Podcast, for a recent example.

    • @TroopThrowback
      @TroopThrowback ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MyNikmaster your comment also presupposes that Dakar entry is the only reason ktm group offers the rally replica for sale. Most of those rally replicas never get used in Dakar, but they certainly do see use in other rallies all over the world.
      On another note, the lack of usa homologation is indeed a hindrance to their use in the only AMA sanctioned rally in the USA. It would be nice if that would change.
      And all that said, I don’t think ktm group will ever consider paying the ridiculous fees for USA dot homologation, as I don’t see the 450RR as a profit motivated item in their catalog, and the numbers of units sold would make it a really poor investment anyway.

    "Unloaded seat height of the race model and standard high model is just under 38 inches. The low seat model will be 2 inches less." Is what I saw on GPX website but they also list ground clearance 2" lower than stock so they must be lowering suspension for that model, not just a different seat.
    You said 368 lbs but graphicin vid said 468 lbs. Maybe that was a typo and it really is under 400 lbs? Website says 320 lbs dry so maybe it is 368 wet?
    I think that motor is pretty high compression. I wonder if they put low octane fuel in it? Maybe that's why it was knocking? I'd be most worried about the fuel injection on that bike, especially after the EPA testing. Still these Chinese bikes are getting better.

    Nice video thanks! About that bike, I'm a bit biased because I'm not sure about the reliability and durability. I think nothing can be said for now, except that it's a nice bike, apparently with good components, but it's Chinese, and sometimes Chinese vehicles don't last long. However, I probably have to consider that Chinese vehicles are no longer those vehicles we used to know, and perhaps even more reliable than some Americans and Europeans. Let's see in the future. The price is too good to be true, but we know how hard Chinese people work (let's say they are obligated to), so they can offer a really competitive price. Is there any bikes we can compare this Kove to? The Ktm 450 Replica is not sold in the USA and costs three times the Kove, others? The only problem is that it is not street legal yet, and these very restricted laws (in Europe even more than in the USA, I reckon), linked to the idea of the environment (just an excuse though, for the purposes of the system), could sacrifice that engine.

    IMO things like the suspension and various running gear components, which have zero credibility in the marketplace, is where the Chinese bikes fail.
    You could argue now that if you hate Chinese engines don't bother with many small BMW and KTM as they are built there. Perhaps the same with certain Triumph and Ducati models built in Thailand with largely Chinese parts. To me the engine is not a deal-breaker.
    Ironically if a premium manufacturer released this bike, "assembled" somewhere other than China with KYB or Showa suspension and a few other name brands components it would probably sell like crazy even at $10k or $11k. Make an S or R version with exhaust and Ohlins for a bit more and it would outsell the base model.

    Where are all the dealers then? China can make anything look the same as non Chinese products due to their non compliance and snubbing of intellectual property, copyright and trademark laws. But HONESTLY, can you name 1 great Chinese mechanical product when compared to the major existing brands? Look at Formula 1, look at Moto GP, look at World Rally, look at indy, look at any sports and touring cars series. The list goes on and on and on……I agree that prices for the major brands are mostly unjustifiably inflated, but until there are QUALITY and PROVEN competitors, nothing is going to change.
