So you like competition do you me too. You know what I saw the other day on TH-cam was 10 year old boys putting the Chinese service pistol together blindfolded is that something you want also compete in. Competition are you ready to compete with the Chinese Army Navy. Cuz that's what you're doing you're allowing them to build the size of the other military
@@litare4328 You know that's the exact same thing that everyone you young people says. You guys just don't understand If the only phones that can be bought are manufactured in China then that's what you have to buy. Hopefully one of the big phone companies will understand this and start manufacturing phones here in the US to support high paying jobs for US citizens . Look around China is on the path to world domination. If you can't see and understand that well I don't know what to say to that .
when I heard the story of the KOVE rally from this years Dakar and heard how passionate the designer is, I knew it wasn't built cheap just to sell units... and seeing all 3 Kove bikes finish the Dakar and their 5 year goals/hopes to podium was great...
It's certainly a MASSIVE goal for Kove... but they really are a passion build. I think this isn't about money for them... I think they really want to be the best in the world.
@@eveRide,, the intentions may be very honorable. An economical World class Duel Sport 🙌 is a righteous endeavor for sure... but its always adout the profit 🤌 margin. @@PaydayGabeBCNV I can tell you that is how the Chinese work. Suck you in with a cheap initial price then slam you for every improvement. I worked with a company who designed and built Pit bikes and other niche items. The basic product was cheeeeeep, but every “fix” or premium add on was painful. They had better be worried about making a profit, or they will be out of business. Passion may open the doors but lack of profit will close them a whole lot faster.
The constant annoying music and weirdly praising style makes this seem more like promotional commercial, than informative review. I have to disagree with you. But I guess for some younger people like below 20 years, this style might feel appealing. I am mostly bizarred by this and to me this looks like the company made/paid this video.
@@samuraidoggy I can't say I agree. I mean the entertainment aspect of the production is plain to see. And maybe that disqualifies it as a "pure review" but the informational content of this video is fantastic. I especially liked the Subaru/WRC perspective - that the WRX is FAR from the winniest but nevertheless most iconically Rally because it was accessible to consumers.

The fact so many companies now in 2023 make it almost impossible to send customer feedback is really something that needs to change. Constant customer feedback and improvement is the only way to stay competitive.
But let be honest, China manufacturers come and go very fast, they are always changing names, merging, acquiring with other companies... Some of them sell just outside china, some of them sell only in china because of the supply chain issue and of course, if it is there, it'll be always cheaper than ANYWHERE ELSE to make anything they want (design changes, product improvements, upgrading the production line etc)
Dude, you realize that 999 out of every 1000 customer feedback issues are whining and moaning about highly subjective issues right? Very rarely does one customer have an original innovative idea that isn't already known or has been considered by the developers during early testing. So be very, very honest with yourself, and all of us, you're really not one of the 0.1% now, are you?
Tyler, From one overweight, middle aged, wreck damaged ADV rider with an identity crisis to another, DON'T CHANGE A THING! Keep being you! It's why I watch and keep coming back. The world needs more brutal honesty and yours is always refreshing! Hope to do one of your rides before I'm too old and fat to not die on one! My experience with recent GPX bikes: fasteners loose and rusting. Inexplicable failures to start. Exposed connectors and wiring. Cheap plastic and decals like a power wheels. Toy. DMV refuses to issue a plate due to VIN not showing up in their system as road legal. That is all with a brand new bike. I'm even more curious about how it looks in five and in 10 years. This is what the brand is up against. And any potential buyer should be asking
First and foremost, Tyler, you are not a poser or a fake, but... like me maybe a little "flake"-y (but aren't all of us, lol). I TRUST you for straight forward content. There are very few channels I rely on for "real" reviews. Your's is one of those few. For YEARS I've complained on forums... Why don't KTM (Husky, Gas Gas), Honda and Yamaha build a reasonably priced bike using their Dakar Rally styling. A 450, in my mind, is a great size and that power to weight, plus fuel range puts my 2008 KLR 650 to shame. I built out a 690 Enduro R as a TAT/BDR bike because nothing else seemed to fit. What I really wanted, though, was a Dakar Rally inspired bike that could take some light luggage and go the distance. Thank you for this review and for being open about your struggles. I've had a son and a nephew in similar situations, both have seen Psalms 23 and come out the other side. God's richest blessings to you and your family.
Lets all be honest. GPX has been putting out some fantastic equipment for the past few years, at an astounding price, and it just keeps getting better. They're a company that actually takes rider input to heart and improves on their product. Sometimes within the same model year. CFMoto is another company that is changing the game. I don't knock China when they actually try. And they're trying. Boy are they trying.
I will say that one thing I wish GPX did was use shift/clutch levers, shift and rear brake arms and other "consumables" that were compatible with something else. Doesn't have to be a "clone" of those parts, just compatible. So riders are left wondering where they're going to get replacements for those things that most often break.
Yeah Gary of GPX has mentioned that it can be a nightmare to get some factories to up the quality, but has said Kove simply wants to make an awesome bike because it's a passion project more than just a moto-churn.
Hey Tyler, that was an awesome review. Don't sell yourself short, your commentary is world class and super hilarious. I can't belive I never made it down there when I lived in Cedar. I still plan on linking up with you at some point down the road though. Keep up the awesome work you do and I'm so Stocked for you making the move to do this full time, it's also an inspiration...
I'm very keen to see how the Kove story plays out. Hopefully they'll be successful, and I hope their introduction forces the establishment to innovate, reduce prices, and build a range of lightweight ~500cc *accessible* adv bikes for us! We'll see. 😁
Accessibility is key! I really love the Kove but there's no doubt I'd LOVE to see Yamaha create an accessible 450 rally bike. Or perhaps Suzuki would take a shot with an updated DRZ? Either of those ideas just make me excited! On the other hand... I'm just not sure that Japanese companies have the drive anymore. They make far more money doing world-wide mass market stuff than catering to a fairly small segment in the US. That's why I'm stoked on Kove... they are pretty much a passion project!
Unsafe and bad build quality , will last 12 months max then scrap like every bike they made that's why it cost's $500 to build with cheep alloy and labour at $2 a day wages to the factory workers ...KTM will last 20 years
You can't divorce an authoritarian regime from its life blood: money. As good as this bike may be it is one of thousands of products which help China to repress freedom and democracy. Nice try but no sale.
@@eveRide Well said! The Japanese, while brilliant manufacturers, behave like a herd. Their failure to compete in this segment is providing the Chinese a strategic opening which they can build on. Kudos to them. I'd add Honda to your list with the need for a simply more reliable CRF 450.
So good to hear your voice again on a amazing in depth bike review. I hope things are going well for you. It has been 5 years ago that I took Part in one of your rally's. Great review, it is a fascinating bike. I am not as much of an early adopter as you are, though. Yes your ranting about KTM faulty fuel delivery systems is the reason why I still ride a 650 Dr.
Tyler, I was just thinking it had been a little while since you posted, and here you are with an in depth review of the next most exciting bike to hit the market, just as I've been looking for information I can trust in this exact bike. Much love and thanks for what you do!
Much love right back Jeremy! Yeah this one took a MINUTE to make... many different drafts (some of which were REALLY bad and involved... acting?!) but I like this final version and think it does the bike justice!
@@eveRide LOL bro! yeah good job cutting back this version was still a little too much but youve got enough of a reputation with your previous content its not too bad bro. haha you must have had all those pent up creative juices xD make some more vids dude even if its just to get it out of your system for your own mental health
So I have two concerns. 1. What is the KOVE weight limit? I heard that there is a weight restriction of 175lb rider. Since I'm around the 245lb area, does that mean I will start breaking things if I"m over that limit. 2. The suspension and getting heavier springs. How hard will it be to upgrade the front and rear to my weight? I really like the support and enthusiasm generated by this new rally machine. Very complete review and you did a great job. Thank You
That 175 lb number is not a max weight for the bike, it is the rider weight of the springs. As any experienced rider knows, 250 lb riders need different springs than do 125 lb riders. The factory springs on most bikes are for 150 to 175 lb riders. Every 25 lb increase or decrease necessitates a change of springs; this is true for every brand of off road bike.
@@grandenauto3214 The bigger concern is the EPA and DOT certifications. The importer recently said that the first shipment won't be EPA certified for street use immediately. Depending on where you live, you may not be able to license it for street use. Another press release said the first or second shipment may be 49 state legal; not legal in CA. I would and am waiting for that issue to be resolved before placing a deposit on the bike.

Safe to say your family won't receive death threats after this shining review. I also like the passion the engineers have for this bike. As time moves on, let's hope your opinions hold true. 🤞🏻
Glad your relationship with GPX is solid. I remember the kerfluffle with CSC over the RX3. Their unprofessional initial reaction completely turned me off from any consideration. If Kove/GPX can recognize the importance of BOTH the quality of product AND customer relations/support, than I am intrigued enough to put it on the list for the next steed in my stable. And I have followed Tyler from a WR250 to a DRZ to now a 500EXC. Tyler’s integrity is unmatched. The impact of his official endorsement is immeasurable. Thank you Kove/GPX for trusting Tyler. It was risky, but now you have the best endorsement possible!
One of the best reviews of any motor powered vehicle I've seen. Every conceivable point covered elequently. I grew up reading Car & Driver , Road & Track and appreciate good writing. Your worries are unfounded. A few shipping containers of Chinese parts might suffice for the launch, but piggybacking with existing repair shops is the only way short term to keep customers happy. Service what you sell.👍😃
What a review, finally! Thank you so much for taking the time to inform us all. These bikes are going to be very hot property, I've been watching them for some time now and I'm very happy that you have confirmed what I was expecting. I hope the come to Australia!
Dude! Ive been watching your chan-chan for a few years now, and your production quality has gone through the roof! I really feel like this is gonna be my next bike to compliment my 1090 ADVR
Tyler, I am so, so, so, so freaking happy you found this bike and love it. It is the unicorn. In the past, you inspired me to buy a new DRZ400s last year and I love the bike. But the Kove is better in every way. Maybe one day I can do one of your adventures. You are not an imposter! You inspired me to get back into bikes more than ANYONE else on TH-cam, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
Tyler, I’ve followed you for a long time. I was here for the csc fiasco. This was a fantastic video! Glad you are still doing what you love! Blessings to you and your family!
I picked up my rally over the weekend. Better-than-expected and definitely a quality motorcycle. Extremely versatile as well! Thanks Tyler for getting me on the bandwagon!
@@eveRide maybe you are talking about Fantic rally 450? It's got wr 450 engine mounted..from Japan, there is literaly no chance to produce a bike similar to Kove450 rally. If they do,it will be around 20.000 usd. Sad but true
@@eveRide Speaking of which, I noticed the rankings list didn't include the new popular middleweight adv bikes, like the Tenere 700, Tuareg 660, or even another so called unicorn the AJP PR7. Was wondering if you had a chance to try those bikes and would love to hear your opinion on those in comparison! Honestly amazing review, I was literally hanging on to every second of it. Super stoked to wait for the 450 Rally, and hey, check out that 800x!
I forgot about your channel. This is the first time you’ve popped up in my feed in I’d say at least a year maybe 2. Glad to be back, I’ve got some catching up to do!
Like many, I’m a huge hater towards Chinese made bikes. I’ve never ridden one that was any good, and have witnessed friends have endless issues with them. I’ve been watching the progress of the Kove though. On paper it actually appears to be that unicorn bike we’re all seeking, yet no manufacture ever ends up building! Your feedback on bikes holds high credibility with me, as I’ve ridden or owned bikes you’ve reviewed and generally have the same opinions. Which has me pumped for the Kove! Excellent review as always & look forward to see how things go with the Kove
I'm curious..Have any of the bikes you seen your friends have issues with come from GPXMoto? I've been riding the FSE300R for a year and haven't had a single issue. Like not one. I also ordered this 450.
@@TheMehlvin I've had 3 cfmoto and besides some small issues they've been great. I think he's talking about really really cheap Chinese dirt bikes from several years ago
This video is a prime example of why I watch your channel! I'm so impressed by what Kove has created here and I really hope they can overcome the stigma. Shake that imposter syndrome man (I know easier said than done) you're the real deal.
You have great production techniques and values. Re: the bike. It's the same price and service intervals as the 450L (yes 450L needs a vortex to run properly), but i'm guessing there isn't one simple fix all the Kove's issues, which we are yet to fully guage (didn't the transmission fail on the other video test ?) Also it was 360lbs without fuel in the other test as well and it was stated that they dont really have emissions equipment yet as they were still working out what was needed to pass all states registration requirments ? So the versions we get could be much less powerful. Also most people decork the KTM so I feel that the Koves shortcoming weren't really demonstrated there. Not sure if ADV riders really want to rev their bike to access the power either ? Anyway, I think the bike is the beginning of a long term success story, but blinking lights dodgy fuel gauges etc leads me to think it's going to be a high risk purchase for a while until people clock decent hours on final producton versions. Look forward to hearing some long term reviews of it.
I love your videos for the desert scenery and ppl on motorbikes loving riding .... I do not however feel I would want to buy a bike from China, no matter how great the review was. I will stick to my ktm- but nice to see a new video up with great scenery! Thanks
I always enjoy your reviews and the way you relate to your subscribers. Your humility and Honesty are very much appreciated by all. I don’t subscribe to many because most are bought and paid for by the industry. None have your sense of humor that is always respectful. I’m looking Forward to your next video review. Keep up the good work on the “CHAN CHAN…!!!”
Probably one of the best reviews I seen. I had no intention of watching the full review, but I did. Brave disclosure. Admitting mental health issues can be unproductive, being someone that's not quite right with the paper work to prove it I have had my share of prejudice. Look forward to your next post. Cheers. Respect from Australia.
The biggest question I have, which unfortunately wasn’t addressed or mentioned, is the reliability of Chinese motorcycles. And I think it’s the most important one for most riders.
i own a Fantic Caballero 500 Rally with a 450cc Zongshen engine from china (like the Kove) never had a single problem with the engine. its the rest of that italian bike thats the problem
@@xXRunDeathXx That sounds encouraging, at least the engine in the Kove might be reliable. What about the rest of the bike? I hope eveRide does an update on his experience with the bike , although now there is a conflict of interest.
thank you for the in-depth review and for not being afraid to give praise where it is due. I deal with a lot of Chinese manufacturers and have found that they are more than able to outperform any competition in their field but are restrained by the foreign companies they are contracted by to stay cheap. if you want to avoid cheap short-cuts in your purchases stop buying from companies that are willing to outsource their products to save money instead of doing it right themselves.
I've always found it funny that people complain about China's quality when it is they who buy the cheapest goods from Walmart/Amazon. You get what you pay for.
All this talk about quality, possible racism, or politics……wtf ever happend to the golden rule? How about the fact that it is just blatant theft of design and engineering? How about that being the reason not to buy one?
Very good story. I subscribed to your channel right away. Having lived in China for over 10 years, and being a fanatic rider, I have a strong prejudice about China production and especially the tendency to save money where you don’t see it, but that you will find out painfully later on. Although your comment about the plastics quality still makes me suspicious (brittle plastics being a very typical Chinese thingy), these guys seem to have taken a very good start. Very interested to see your follow up. I support them! Keep it up!
Hey Tim,, you mentioned Fantic. The new Caballero Scrambler has really peaked my interest. Have you seen or possibly ridden that machine yet? Lmk. Cheers 🍻, G.
For those curious, based on the manual pdf on GPX Website maintenance intervals are as follows: Fuel filter: Every 6,000 miles or every year Valve clearance: Every 30 hours/1200 miles Engine oil/filter: every 300mi for first 1200 miles; Replace every 1200 miles afterwards Coolant: Every 2 years/18,000 miles Shock oil: Every 3,100 miles/100 hours Everything else is check/inspect and replace as needed. These numbers are also conversions from km to miles. Overall I feel like these intervals would be very short if it was a regular dual sport or adv bike, but it's a rally bike so honestly they're not terrible.
That's good info! I don't know how I missed those details and got some different numbers (5000 valves, 2000 to 3000 oil). It seems that some of the numbers for maintenance are different from Kove to GPX, too. Perhaps they differ from the rally version ($12000) to the "tall" version? I'm unsure. Thanks for putting those numbers up, though!
@eveRide I saw some different numbers in an article too. But the ones I put come from the manual on the page. Seems like maybe something was lost in translation
That's one of the most worrying aspects when it comes to chinese bike's reliability .. is this a translation error ? is this caused by the differencies in climate and geo between states/countries ? maybe the manufacturing tolerancies are different between chinese/USA/european etc markets ? I haven't yet figured it out, but it seems to happen quite often.. for example, when it comes to another chinese manufactured bike, the Voge 300 Rally (sold in Europe/Asia - Voge is a subsidiary of Loncin), its manual depicts different service intervals from one EU country to another, even though these countries have the same climate/geological conditions ...
Nice review! I can hear it now! It doesn’t have enough power, there isn’t any aftermarket exhaust, etc. etc. I have ridden with many people (actually most) Who have all these accessories for more power and never once have I seen them get over half throttle anywhere but possibly on pavement! Lol. I mention if they want more power twist the throttle farther! You can imagine the looks of disdain that I get for that😢. The best bikes are the one that you ride, can afford, and they get you outside putting a smile on your face that dirt bikes do! Thanks for your review!
Aw man now I want one!! Awesome review Tyler, can't wait to see more videos with it once you have your very own in the stable. Maybe I'll have to consider one as my next bike down the road 😊
As a big fan of your channel and also the Dakar Rally, this answered a lot of questions about the bikes and their capabilities. I’m seriously interested to see where this brand goes. It’s an exciting time to be an avid off road rider. And the dual sport world just seems to be getting better for the Middle Aged, overweight, weekend warrior! Thanks for a very interesting look at this bike, it’s manufacturer, and culture of the Kove community. You ARE worthy!
Man thank you! I really hope Kove delivers when the big shipment comes! If they're as good as the bike I got to ride, it really will change everything. RALLY bikes are what we've been waiting for all along!
This could replace my CRF300l. I am in desperate desire for more power, still having a low weight motorcycle and acceptable service intervals (so, no KTM 500 EXC-F).
Tyler, I've had a gen1 KLR650 for 2 years. My first adv bike. I'm already looking for a lighter, more powerful option without breaking the bank. This seems a good option, and I like that you're willing to talk about it's shortcomings as well as the highlights. I still can't afford a new KOVE but maybe in another year or two I'll pick up a used one? Thanks for another great video. I appreciate what you do. So do many others. Don't sell yourself short, brother!
@@jimperry4420 I imagine it would at that! I should specify - with comfort and long highway legs. I had a WR400F for 12 years. I have a TE300i for single track now. I'm thinking less dirt bike more dual sport/ADV. I want as little maintenance as possible... Perhaps I already have the right bike. Just wish it had more zip. And carried the weight lower.
Damn that was a well paced video. Meant to watch a quick minute of it, and then come back later. Ended up just watching the whole thing when I should be editing my own. It sucked me in, well done!
Thanks Tyler, really liked the intro which reminded me that i have followed that channel since before You went full timer and your "rant" around what people might think and what opinions that could show up. Beautiful, cool, detailed review. When do You take delivery? I wouldn't hesitate getting one, but i'm limited to just have one bike and i actually could put this Kove 450 Rally bike and the PR7 on the list one day, when it's time to go thumper braap again. Best regards/ Mattias
Great to see that GPX are bringing these to the UK too, a shame that the currency exchange works out differently-£8500 = $10400. Also they’re supplied direct from the factory in the crate, so you have to transport it home and assemble yourself, which some might be a little intimidated by unless it’s quite minimal to build.
If it's like many , front wheel ,handlebars, battery filled and controls need installed . It's fiddly but not rocket surgery . All fluids must be checked and all bolts and chain should be checked .
Really enjoyed the video! I also have one on order and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. Currently ripping the new TSE300R and am loving it. Wish I would have met you when I was living in St. George all last winter!
It would be great to know what kind of mechanical issues the bike had during the Dakar Rally. Remember when people used to race rallies without big bank accounts and factory sponsors, Backwin races were one more on skill and undefeatable determination than financing and support? Are there any rally races today that ban support teams all together?
Great video informative and seems very genuine. However, most already know that bikes exist that have very little emission such beta that out of the box are better but aren't as good once they are on equal emissions ground or plainly uncorked. As the Kove has 2 modules of bike full rally and the street version I didn't hear you mention what this module was and I didn't see a license place so I'm curious what insurance looks like in North America for the one you tested.. without insurance the bike useless IMO as it's too heavy to be an out/out dirt bike.. also not mentioned that it's great out in the desert one area it looks to not shine in comparison to Auzzy bikes is Canadian trails or harder enduro type stuff.. if we were to call any bike a unicorn dirt bike it should be fully capable not just great on fire roads or BDRs. All this said if it's great where you live I can appreciate that you would like it for yourself but it may not be right for everyone as it's a rally bike, not a dirt bike.. on a track, for example, your six days would kill it easy.. all depends on your interests, I ride for fun wheelies/jumps/harder stuff, it looks okay but limited on the trail, I'll stick to a dirt bike.
I've got a 2017 Husqvarna FE350 with a 17l tank, a Rally tower and soft luggage racks. I change the oil every 20 hours. Should I chop it in for the Kove? Along with my 701 Nomad Adv? I'm a trail rider, no racer, experienced but not talented. If I were starting from now, I'd go for the Kove. But I've got 2 battered but reliable Husqvarnas in the garage. Should I swap out, or stay where I am?
@@Evil_Morty2000 if the 350 had a bigger sump and could have a couple of weeks without 4 oil changes then it would not be a question. But with cush drive, 3000 mile 5000 km oil change, decent weight and not forgetting KTM Husq reliability is nothing to get excited about, I guess I am serious. I'm old enough to remember reading old bike mags from the seventies and early eighties, in the late eighties when the big 4 were referred to as Jap Crap and unsubtle British ads played on this. My fear is not Chinese engineering. My issue is parts and backup.
@@Evil_Morty2000 Thanks for your view. I'm going to see how these Kove bikes go. My 701 is going to be used on the Spanish French border mountains, along with 3 friends. My 7 year old 701 has covered miles from the Sahara to the Arctic. I'd miss the old girl and she's fettled for me.
Tyler you forgot the most important rating, how stout is the kickstand‽ On a more serious note, I saw them in the Dakar daily reports but I thought they were an Indian brand coming to the table. Super interesting to see they're chineese and the quality that they managed to produce. Definitely interested and I'm curious to see where they take it. The price isn't far off a brand new DRZ these days with all the dealer markups (~8.4) and the Kove definitely stands head and shoulders over a stock DRZ feature-wise. I wonder if the price will go up with time like the GPX models did.
Jensen you sexy beast! Good to see you here in the comments :D The kickstand seems pretty stout! It's not a KTM kickstand, but still not as beefy as a DRZ lol! I think the Indian brand you're thinking of is "Hero" and they did REALLY well, but I haven't seen anything regarding mass produced versions of their rally bike. I do think the price will go up over time. GPX keeps adding features to their bikes (the 250 I own now is head and shoulders above the model I tested two years ago!)
Thank you for this fine review that covers all aspects. I have one question: Is Cove street legal in California? If so, I love to buy one. Currently, I ride CSC RX3 Adventure (Zongshen RX3 with NC250 engine).
I don’t know why everyone is obsessed with this bike. It’s not a Dualsport it’s purpose built rally race bike. What we need is a Versys 400X with the ninja 400 engine on a lightweight aluminum frame, 21/18 wheels and proper suspension. Only problem is that would kill the KLR650
I think this is the longest TH-cam video I have ever watched every second of, and legit enjoyed every second of. Well done sir! I own a GPX 250, and now I want a Kove!
Very well done research and video. I fully understand your way of combining the facts and to get this conclusion. Kove is doing a very wise approach to f*** the ignorance, arrogance and greediness of companies like KTM Group, BMW, Ducati (Audi) and others. Combined with an advantage of lower manufacturing cost and high availability of of technologies for a bike, they will slap these guys with every bike sold. Thanks for your open minded approach.
Well, now I'm even more excited! The dream of owning a factory rally bike replica has always seemed unattainable, but that seems to be changing. Thank you for the really in depth review and for being an early adopter. Really appreciate the current and forthcoming info on your experience. I hope this bike becomes hugely popular and pushes other manufacturers to get on the bandwagon!
First time to your channel, nice review although bit long at times. I have been living in Asia for the past 15 years, my stable has few local 150s, the Rally 300 (racetech up front and YSS in the rear, so its no longer a soft pogo stick) and now a big thumper Royal Enfield 350. Everything is smaller here, speeds are lower and even the 150s work well. Since learning about the Kove 450, I have become a big fan of the entire project, the real story seems to be that the bike is made by riders for riders. I really hope the bikes live up to what is looking like a success story. I hope this will be repeat of the Japanese cars from years gone by story, considered cheap junk and look where they are now. For decades we have been ignored by the big names about producing bike like this, again I hope Kove makes them reconsider. I am looking forwards to your adventures with the bike and wish you all the best with it. I would like to own one of these some day, I don't need the hard core off road model (too old and I don't live where you live), i believe there is a less off road oriented model as well. As for CCP, yes evil, but take a look at our gov through clear lenses. Rome is burning, like all empires, USA is collapsing. Like all collapsing empires, tyranny, spying, lying, collapse of currency, standard of living collapse, violence in the street, division of society.......is used to extend the burning. Like always, they take you to war and USA has been in a war forever, yes to spread democracy, what a bunch of sh*t. I miss America of the past, here once in a while I am reminded what true freedom is. In 15 years I have been stopped two times, once extorsion of $2, once selfie with the cops.
I have been patiently waiting for your review of this bike. I always appreciate your honesty (both bike and life) in your videos. I can't wait to see the availability of it in Canada.
Great review, lovely editing, nice work as always! Drag race was quite a surprise! Personally I'd just prefer a longer valve check interval, and I love tubeless tires (I have a DR and I'm actually considering converting to tubeless). I've had way more flats on road than offroad and with a plug kit your up and on your way in 5 minutes :)
Never did I get glued on a screen for 40 minutes. Thank you very much for the comprehensive review! As a 450MT owner, I hope CFMOTO joins KOVE on their Dakar adventure so we get more of these 450cc rally replica bikes on sale.
Thank you! Thanks for being an average Joe and giving us this perspective in this review. Getting older and the weight on my 890 becoming more of a hazard and hinderance this bike has me thinking of plopping a deposit down.
Spectacular analysis work! In this video, you summarized all the information and opinions, which those of us who are interested take months and months to find out through hundreds of videos that, compared to yours, seem to be done without desire or with the sole interest of making money. My most sincere respect and congratulations!!
I agree, I believe this bike WILL be a game changer. Not only will it be a great bike in its own right, it may actually awaken other brands from their slumber (are you listening KTM?) and they will start building similar bikes. Go Kove!
Great review. This is the first bike I've seriously considered buying to replace my 2003 KTM 640 Adventure. I've had a few Ktm's (XCW, XC, EXC) but want an adventure model that's capable off road. We'll see how the Canadian availability is.
I'll be a keen observer to see how it performs after 12 months of ownership. I bet the bike that raced Dakar will be nothing like bike sold to consumers.
So I’ve been following the Kove story since I first heard the bike was a thing… I spent nearly $20k building a ktm based adv bike (690 instead of 501 based for better svc intervals and much better touring chops). The kove sounds like a same weight/lower power/much lower cost Husky LR to me (an adv guy). Will continue to follow to see how they hold up (my primary concern with the Kove). Only concern with this vid is the drag race… drags results are generally 95% determined by weight and power (riders skill is important at high hp levels but not for these bikes)…. The Kove should not be doing as well as it is in your vid given the specs of the bikes involved, it was similar power and a 20% heavier than the 23 ktm... and physics doesn't leave much room for it to win… which makes me wonder if you got a ringer (pretty common practice for mfgrs to send ringers for review).
You forgot to add gearing at your calculations..this is the reason kove drove past ktm. As far as reliability goes, all was proven in Dakar rally. The bikes were tested 3 years before Dakar, so nearly all problems were eliminated.
@@MERMBRAMA Nah... gearing is not a magic power adder... gearing and torque could help the Kove get a jump on launch (which wouldn't help here since they rolled) but once both bikes are in their power bands it's really a straight HP fight (unless one is geared completely stupidly... which from obvious shift points neither is). The other factor that could have an effect is poor shifting but both are shifting crisply. Final possibility is that the KTM is down on power (maybe has a lot of hours on it), that IS a possibility... but if the KTM is performing to the listed specs the race results do not make sense. Ya cannot change the laws of physics.
@@MERMBRAMA Still loving what I'm reading about the Kove overall... but it's pretty clear from reviews that the one weak point on the bike is power - and I don't think I've ever heard anyone say the 501 lacks power so yea there's something odd either with the Kove or possibly with the KTM.
@@kuhndj67 the power is definetly not weak. It is not a typical 450 hard enduro power. It is linear, smooth, controlable till 6000 rpm, with great traction,it does not tire you out. After 6000 till 10000 it changes character and sound, starts pulling and moving very fast. You can rise it hard,be very quick, and ride quite a while, without beeing tired.
Making rally accessible. That's the best part of this machine for me. Great review! Have you ever thought of doing the Dakar? I bet you could pull it off. Cheers from Canada.
I've had my eyes on this rig since the first time it was under the radar.. Ever since then, my opinions[s] on it have gotten better and better. At this point.. It baffled me why Honda didn’t release a 450 Rally Brabec edition after he won the Dakar. Every Honda simp like me would have bought one. This Kove might get me on the hook for a rally bike.
Great review and I don’t doubt your honesty but I live in Northern UK where the weather is pretty brutal on dirt bikes for large portions of the year,I’m not dismissing the Kove but we don’t ride bikes for a week or a month,I know people who’ve rode Honda XRs for twenty years! with very few problems other than maintenance, it is a very interesting motorcycle for sure,I think the biggest obstacle it will have to overcome is the very entrenched belief that China only produces cheap crap.hopefully if nothing else it gives the Austrians in particular a reality check on their prices, let’s not forget they use Chinese factories to produce a lot of their overpriced and fairly unreliable models too.
This is the first video I watch of yours.. I gotta say your style is top notch in delivery! Yeah you might not be Jarvis, but neither is 99% of people watching these types of videos. Compared to me, you are a Jarvis, I just love to do wheelies and explore. Your delivery/content at least with this video I'd say is on the standard of fortnine! I'm subscribing now
Hopefully this bike will wake up the sleeping Japanese giants. Competition is healthy as heck for us.

@stupidwhitecracker218have you ride it before? Or you hated it just because it’s Chinese bike?
Irony: KTM moved production of their mid-sized bikes to China a few years ago.
when I heard the story of the KOVE rally from this years Dakar and heard how passionate the designer is, I knew it wasn't built cheap just to sell units... and seeing all 3 Kove bikes finish the Dakar and their 5 year goals/hopes to podium was great...
It's certainly a MASSIVE goal for Kove... but they really are a passion build. I think this isn't about money for them... I think they really want to be the best in the world.

Hands down one of the best bike reviews I've seen on TH-cam. Clear, structured and well edited. Thank you for the depth of info.

I hope they do well. Watching the highlights of the Dakar this year you could see the passion of the Kove team is the real deal.
I love the comment “ it’s better to eat the Hotdog than ask how it’s made”, so very true
This is literally THE review to watch for this bike! Nice job, man! I'm glad you got to play with this bike in early times!
Basic consumables should be.
Yeah Gary of GPX has mentioned that it can be a nightmare to get some factories to up the quality, but has said Kove simply wants to make an awesome bike because it's a passion project more than just a moto-churn.
I have a CFMOTO 800xc and it's a hell of a machine. Well built and performs very well in the tough stuff. No breakdowns and very well appointed.
I own a CFmoto Uforce 1000 and the quality is really really good. I have been more than happy with it.
Will it last? I haven’t seen any Chinese motor to last…. Maybe send the oil out to be analyzed and see the wear
Glad you liked the bike. I'm too thinking of selling my Kove 500x once I get my hands on the 450 rally

Thank You
I need an answer to this as well.
Can you add bags, etc?
@@grandenauto3214 The bigger concern is the EPA and DOT certifications. The importer recently said that the first shipment won't be EPA certified for street use immediately. Depending on where you live, you may not be able to license it for street use. Another press release said the first or second shipment may be 49 state legal; not legal in CA. I would and am waiting for that issue to be resolved before placing a deposit on the bike.

Take a look at companies like CFMoto. The Chinese aren't screwing around and they will make a decent bike within a few years
It says that the first 70 are not street legal. How do we order the street legal version?

thank you for the in-depth review and for not being afraid to give praise where it is due.

Everything else is check/inspect and replace as needed.
Dang that sucks
2000km oil changes
Incredible. So stoked. Great Job EverRide, Kove and GPX
How about some info on the Cove 450 Rally Pro. The race version.
Aw man now I want one!! Awesome review Tyler, can't wait to see more videos with it once you have your very own in the stable. Maybe I'll have to consider one as my next bike down the road 😊
Utah? I thought the Bad lands were in South Dakota? Where exactly is this?
Try a Drz, it will feel like a mountain bike compared to the Klr.
AJP 600 OFFRD OR SWM DUAL
@@TraveladvRajanSRai never heard of either of those?
Damn that was a well paced video. Meant to watch a quick minute of it, and then come back later. Ended up just watching the whole thing when I should be editing my own. It sucked me in, well done!
This bike will have the resale value of a used tissue.
It sure will. It probably won’t last 5 years of moderate use
Madame Soleil?
Much like every KTM out there. @@armored-clown
@@eflanagan1921 AVE fan?
Really enjoyed the video! I also have one on order and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. Currently ripping the new TSE300R and am loving it. Wish I would have met you when I was living in St. George all last winter!
Now we just need a longevity/torture test. I'd also LOVE to see scope results from a 1st and 2nd oil change.
This is unironically the single most important aspect of it being worth anything. $50 it's black as tar.
That was a feast!
Only thing missing was a George Costanza gif
“IM BACK BABY!”
You sure Kove didn't pay a hefty price for this review 😊
Great video
Should I swap out, or stay where I am?
you really considering swapping 2 Husqvarnas for a China bike?Seriously?
Some of the KTM’s are already made in China. Should be called CTM
China They Made😂
Awesome, constructive, no BS video. Thank you for taking your time to share it with us.
Tyler you forgot the most important rating, how stout is the kickstand‽
On a more serious note, I saw them in the Dakar daily reports but I thought they were an Indian brand coming to the table.
What about the AJP?
So does it have DOT tires on it? Pollution control stuff? If so, can you inform it?
Well, now I'm even more excited! The dream of owning a factory rally bike replica has always seemed unattainable, but that seems to be changing. Thank you for the really in depth review and for being an early adopter. Really appreciate the current and forthcoming info on your experience. I hope this bike becomes hugely popular and pushes other manufacturers to get on the bandwagon!
A week? Come back to us after a couple years. How will the motor last, or forks, shock, anything.
Spectacular video! The content, the narration, the editing... Wow, thanks for your work, dude
Your reviews are perfect because the majority of your viewers are the kind of riders you are.
Great video and review, thanks. Comparing with the Kove what do you think of the AJP PR7
THAT was a great review! And I'll be keeping my eye out for one of these in a few years when they start showing up on the used market.
I bet the bike that raced Dakar will be nothing like bike sold to consumers.
yeah it seems like another one of chinas predatory sales tactics/scams
Turns out you are wrong
Hell of a review!! Thank you so much for the awesome deep dive and charismatic commentary. This is what we all needed!
@@kuhndj67 you must be right..both ktms have a lot of hours, they make less than 40hp each. Gearing has nothing to do with it.
