This song... gives me mixed feelings. It takes one of the prettiest, most touching songs about childhood dreams and turns it into a cheap love song. The chorus is great, but all this "you and me" just ruins it for me. :(
Ya know, it doesn't ruin it for me but I see what you do. I know some Japanese, but only as well as any other student who took it a few semesters so I do have to fill in gaps so I thought a part of it might be me projecting, but my interpretation was always that it was about blissful isolation. This is a very different interpretation
@@PusoPimpOVER9000 umm... It still changed the original meaning. She wants a pair of wings because "she want to fly away to the sky where there's no sorrow but free". I'm in tears every time I listen the original lyrics. But, the English lyrics is like "I'll be free if I have a pair of wings. I just want to fly with you". There's no room for original sadness here... I love her voice though!

Disagreed, I don’t know why “you and me” is automatically assumed to be a romantic implication. It could be anyone and still aligns with the original song’s theme of freedom and searching for joy
