    I helped my niece with her 1949 F1 flathead v8 it was locked up, got it unlocked oiled down the valve guides rebuilt carb, fuel pump, new water pumps and radiator, runs great! It'll smooth out the longer you run it if everything is ok, best of luck !!! I wished more kids where into the old rides!!!

    When I was 6 years old in 1970, my dad borrowed an early 50's Ford truck from a relative to haul some junk to the local city dump in Fort Worth. I don't know which engine it had, the 6 or the v8, but I loved riding in that old truck with my dad and older brother. It was an experience all its own! It just strengthened my love for trucks, especially those with manual transmissions.

    Oh my gosh ...one heck of a starter... they don't make them like that no more... i.aint never heard anyone stand on starter like that lol can't belive the brushes didn't burn out.. I belive that the time needs little adjusting and she's fire right up.
    I love the way u 2 work together.. not to much of that going on these days.. I self taught or learned from guys I dated in high school and then went school (Diesel mechanic ). I would have loved to have had time ........ .... well just wanted to say thanks for shareing. 😉

    That's one hell of a starter motor, sounds like he's got12 volts hooked up also. And it does look like it's spitting back through the intake. Amen on all the computer crap from about 80 on. I am 77 and still work on the old iron and I will NOT ride in ANY vehicle that the doors lock when you drive off. I got my granddaughter a 1950 International pick up for us to fix up a few months ago and she loves it. I like to see these video's of folks saving the old iron from the crusher.

    Slowly pour some ATF down the carburetor with the throttle wide open. Then try again because it will help seal the compression rings

    Gas, fire and oil was the only requirement at one time so troubleshooting was simple. Now and since 1980 computer controls have complicated the process and I don't think overall that they're worth the hassle.

    • @doubled3119
      @doubled3119 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      ACMESOUND WV, I agree! That's why my next truck will be back to basics. I'm not spending 50,000 on a new truck that I cant work on and in 10 years is a worthless pos. I'm thinking 1950-59 chevy and if I can find it with a napco 4x4 even better.

      Old school machines can be as reliable as the new technology. The critical difference is that old technology requires more maintenance, knowledge, and care to achieve the same results. Most people aren't willing to trade effort for simplicity. I have vehicles on both ends of the spectrum. My 8n Ford starts year round, as does my 08 Dodge pickup. On the antique ford I have to carefully keep it in tune, work the choke, give it warmup time, etc. On the dodge I turn the key, wait a few seconds, and drive. If I could only have one system it would be modern. That's only because I have the knowledge and experience to work with modern vehicles. If I didn't, I would gladly run old equipment that was within my knowledge base. To each their own.

    • @Shane-Singleton
      @Shane-Singleton 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same. I love modern fuel injection. But when it does go wrong there are SO many more pieces to check. My 79 Chevy Pickup and my 57 BelAir wagon are far easier to troubleshoot than my 2012 SS Camaro. (Which, thankfully, I haven't had to troubleshoot yet lol)

    You can tell a lot just by listening to the starter. The engine has very low compression. A little Oil in the gas might help it start.

    Y'all are right about that not being a '53. I have a 1953 f600 that sat for 2 years. I put a battery and gas in it, turned the key, pushed the starter button, and it started right up (I'm 14, by the way.) Does anybody know what that hum/buzz sound is at 3:00? My rig does the same thing. Don't hurt nothing, just gotta let it pass and keep going, but it's real annoying, and if anyone has an exploded diagram or something for a 2 speed axle shift unit, could ya email it to me or something?Thanks.

      hum and buzz is caused when the bendix disengages from the fly wheel and the starter is free wheeling {not engaged} just spinning..

    Neighbor had an F5 dump truck that his father bought new. It was about as rusty as this truck and had been sitting since the late '60s. Unfortunately I was not in a position to save it and it got crushed.

    Old dinosaurs and supposed to be die already but sometimes the new owners of the car or truck like to bring it back again because of the looks the body and the colorful of the paint that used to be in the past sometimes that this is going to be a little bit messed up inside the interior but it is okay if you want to change the interior from the past different color or new style this is the original owner wanted to do or I could be a father or son restoration of a truck and it is memories from the past that the father help other father to their grandson to have fun like freezing cause everything and like Legacy to always keep up with the classic truck or any kind of card that so you don't Americans but today right now that everyone it is concentrated of the future the future is here now and ever but however some people not concentrate of what kind of ideas for the little guys take care of a future but they never did or teach the students from the past and they never did you know not coming slow
