Hey I am new to the modding scene and want an exhaust set up that is like yours since it isn’t obnoxiously loud and doesn’t have drone. I was wondering if you have an X-pipe or just the Borla muffler and resonators? Also, what did you use the sound deadener for and is it needed? Thanks.
You’ve found the right channel! The Borla is essentially an x pipe. It’s called a muffler but it is really just a resonated x pipe. And being close to the test pipes, it absorbs a ton of rasp immediately. The large resonators our back take the rest of it leaving a nice even tone. The sound deadener just helps stabilize body panels which reduces drone. It’s not necessary, it just helps keep the interior comfortable. I don’t really need it now, but with my last setup it was helpful!
Speed Culture Studios oh wow thanks for the quick response! Your channel is like a gold mine for a new Q50 owner haha One more question, how much piping (or test pipes) do I need and what brand/type to go along with the rest of the components? I’ve found all the other parts online just not sure about the piping
Onkar Aujla you won’t find the piping. That has to be custom bent by the exhaust shop. My shop connected everything with pipe and labor for $150. It took 45 minutes for them to do. Make sure you shop around. There are a lot of options for test pipes. Just don’t get Megan racing.
Speed Culture Studios Oh so I have to buy test pipes? What specs do those have to be and how many? Also what does the shop have to bend? The test pipes or the stock piping? Like I said I’m new to this so I want to be sure about what I’m doing haha
Onkar Aujla you don’t have to install test pipes if you don’t want to. You just said you wanted to do this setup. The shop will have to bend pipe to connect it all together. I have no stock pipe left. The stock pipe diameter is so small.
That’s really the drone range. I would drive in manual mode to control the rpm. Otherwise sound deadener places strategically can help reduce it. Drone has a lot to do with vibration in panels.
Yes my boys loved they could here me coming from a mile + away LOL. Test pipes and 3inch cat back. Can you say loud but Oh the sound. Like Rene I went with a Q50 RS400 and with some trinkets OMG is it fast. Love both versions! 3.7 3.0TT
Sounds great man... I got the Stillen cat back with cold air intakes and I have high flow resonated cats coming in soon hopefully it sounds as good as yours
Speed Culture Studios so how would you think it would sound with a resonator delete and a sport muffler bc my buddy with a ram 1500 he I did a resonator delete with sport muffler and it sounds perfect. Ik v8 is different but would it be kinda the same concept as the vq engine
Alpha V the vq37 is really raspy if you open it up. The resonators do a great job of toning the rasp down. A resonator delete with the stock muffler isn’t too bad, but it’s all personal opinion. Try it. If it sounds bad, just throw resonators back in.
@@SpeedCultureStudios Can you send me some pictures of the exhaust system setup,I'm a little confusing about where to put all there parts. my email nclogi@gmail.com, tks man.

I will be trying your set up on my q50 red sport this weekend with a twist. After borla muffler I'm going to do possible 3in pipe, resonators etc. Wondering how much hp&tq going from 2.5 to 3in🤷♂️
I have a video dedicated to the 3.0t with a 3” muffler option or just foregoing the muffler and using a 3” x pipe instead. Turbo cars benefit from the larger diameter exhaust. The 3.7 would not benefit from 3” duals
Yea,with the small turbos on the q50,I don't want to over spool them with 3in from cat back. So I'm think more power set up in last comment. It's gonna be epic. Thanks for the setup info
Do you need a tune after installing test pipes or can I still get the same sound in the video without test pipes ? Normally I wanted motordyne but dam this one is way too good and cheaper lol 👌
Speed Culture Studios no tests pipes then for me lol ,Got quoted 500 flat at a local shop using the exact parts you have. Just might have to pull the trigger.
I didn’t have any drone. You can try putting sound deadener in the trunk. Infiniti sound deadening is terrible. You can also drive in manual mode and keep the rpm out of the drone window.

Yes it has test pipes. In this video it was top speed resonated test pipes. The setup sounds good with factory cats as well. Several people have done its
Heyy hope you respond.. I have a q50 and I want to hook it up nice.. I love how this sounds what exactly is it and I ask at the mechanic ? I don’t know much about this lol
Go to my SCS Catback made easy video for all of the details and links to pieces. I even include a photo you could show the shop. And don’t go to a mechanic-you’ll need to go to an exhaust shop
Hey man I own a 2015 q50 and I already have the borla muffler on there with nothing else, which isn’t that loud. All I basically need is the two resonators but wouldn’t that limit the sound even more? Probably a dumb question but I’m a newbie on car mods
@@matthewpederson8796 ah the exhaust. Many have installed it just how it’s designed. A good shop can tuck it up tight. If you’re really low, you can install the parts in reverse order.
I ordered a cat-back exhaust and lower downpipes for my 17 Q60. I’m afraid of getting too much drone and rasp. Would I need 2 resonators if I want to quiet it down a little bit?
Yes, adding a resonator to each side will help get rid of the rasp if it’s too bad for you. It won’t kill volume all that much but a quality resonator helps a lot with rasp.
@@SpeedCultureStudios Been looking for a used CPO Q50 around my area and i just found one exactly what I wanted. We shall see this weekend haha. Nico Djulianto you’ll love it. Little more refined than the wrx but still fun to drive. And if you start missing the manual-just switch it over to manual mode. It’s actually pretty satisfying.
@@SpeedCultureStudios I literally just bought the car in February 2020 ... a 2014 venetian red and your set up sounds SOOOO smooth omfg. The smooth rumble and subtle deep noise, just heaven to everyone ears.
wirehot09 well you have to pay the shop to install it for you of course. Some shops charge more than others. I purchased the Borla muffler from my shop so they installed everything else for $100.The only other thing I would suggest is a set of flanges so you can bolt to the test pipes. Most shops carry flanges but you never know.
If you can find any resonator that is about 4-4.5” in diameter with a 2.5” inlet/outlet that is approximately 20” in length, (24” total length) they will likely work. Doesn’t necessarily have to be flowmaster. You’ll just want a nice size resonator to tone down the rasp.
I would imagine it could. Best idea would be to go to an exhaust shop and get the car on a lift to see what can fit. The borla muffler I got is 24” in total length so it s a tight fit. There are other options available but it just depends on what the shop is capable of! Thanks for watching! Let me know how it goes!!

No, it’s custom but a similar mid-muffler design like the shockwave. It is a borla xs mid-muffler back to Flowmaster FX resonators. The muffler is a bit bigger than the one used with the shockwave.
It’s not terribly loud no. Cruising on the highway it is perfect. There is definitely a rumble while accelerating but it’s not bad. But that’s with test pipes. You can keep factory cats or go high flow cats and it won’t be loud at all.
Hey boss I’m about to purchase the items you have on your video description, please respond as soon as you can! Do I need to buy 2 of each item ? For my 2017 q50 silver sport 3.0t?

I love your videos man! I recently got a 17 Q50 awd premium. The car came with some exhaust mods already- the description says afe exhaust (axel back) and AMS catted downpipes. I looked under the car and it looks like the stock resonators are gone. My question is, what do you recommend I do if I want this setup on my car? The borla and the fx resonators? Or just one and not the other? I love the way this system sounds. I don't like the way my car sounds right now and love the sound of this system. Thanks!
Hey great work on the channel and the Q50 set up. I'm taking mine to a custom exhuast shop next week. Do you think what ever they generic brands they use will sound similar as long as it's set up the same. Also do you think it's worth doing high flow cats. Thanks for any input and keep up the great content.
If you plan on tuning, then high flow cats are worth it! Generic mufflers are fine, but make sure they are straight through mufflers and not chambered. Mine has resonated test pipes, so without those, I’m not sure how close to the same time you’ll get, but good mufflers or resonators will make a big difference over the stock one!
Hey man! I have the same car 2014 Q50S hybrid & I just ordered the exact same parts except I cannot find the Upower tips anywhere. Any alternatives for those? Thanks a lot for these videos!
Speed Culture Studios I already bought everything else except for the interior sound mats. Can I just skip getting the exhaust tips & simply use the ones that came with the car (stock)?
I honestly have no way of knowing that. It depends on the noise ordinance of your area. Muffler delete really isn’t that loud and you would never know it was loud just cruising. It just depends on the cops in your area.
I'm sorry for the long post. I'm having a hard time finding a right answer. Please bare with me. Thanks. So what is the difference between Vibrant StreetPower muffler and UltraQuiet resonator? I'm planning to add one or the other to my existing setup. Current: Berk HFC > mid pipe > Borla Pro XS mid muffler > resonated pipes > Flowmaster FX resonators > tips. **In order to tone down the overall exhaust note, where should the new placement be? A) Berk HFC > mid pipe > Borla mid muffler > Vibrant StreetPower muffler > Flowmaster resonators > tips? B) Berk HFC > mid pipe > Borla mid muffler > Flowmaster resonators > Vibrant StreetPower muffler > tips? C) Berk HFC > mid pipe > Borla mid muffler > Flowmaster resonators > Vibrant UltraQuiet resonators > tips? D) Berk HFC > mid pipe > Borla mid muffler > Vibrant UltraQuiet resonators > Flowmaster resonators > tips?
Dang man that’s a lot of resonators! And with HFCs!?! You want a super quiet car huh lol. First, the streetpower muffler is just larger-it’s a larger resonator so has more of an impact on tone. If you got the street power muffler, they’d almost have to be last just because of their size and shape. In combination with everything else you have, they would also make the car super quiet. I would go, borla xs to flowfx to vibrant ultra quiet. Honestly at this point though you might as well put your factory catback on lol. The catback doesn’t really provide all that much performance over stock-the HFCs or test pipes is where the power comes from. Adding all these resonators will now just be heavy and expensive and you’re making it as quiet or quieter than stock with no additional performance.
@@SpeedCultureStudios This is the first car I own that has exhaust modifications, so my ears are not used to it yet. I would put the stock system on but I sold it 😅. And you're right I don't want to add all the unnecessary weights. Though I'm going to tune my car on E85 later (not sure when).
Stock VQ37 Don’t add the resonators. Just get used to the car. It’s how a car is supppsed to sound!! Don’t waste money on a bunch of resonators. It’s pointless. It’s like installing lowering springs and then adding blocks to bring it back to stock height. You would never do that lol.
@@SpeedCultureStudios I keep telling myself to get used to it but I can't seem to. Maybe these resonators will help? Maybe not? Plus, does your mid muffler looks a bit tilted or slanted?
Stock VQ37 drive your car in manual mode and keep it out of the drone range. No it does not slant. If the shop installed it at a slight angle it’s no big deal
A man that sounds beautiful I was thinking about changing the back ends myself a couple questions 1. How much did it cost for you to get evrything fitted on there ( by the mechanic) 2. Any check engine lights after installation 3. Did you get it tuned after you got after thing installed
Check out my TH-cam channel if you get time-lots of videos detailing it all! Exhaust was $350 total for me but I have a good exhaust shop near me! The car has been tuned but will be retuned next week with this new setup. Catback exhaust won’t throw a code but test pipes will for sure.

Your channel is like a gold mine for a new Q50 owner haha
One more question, how much piping (or test pipes) do I need and what brand/type to go along with the rest of the components?
I have the set up and I’m getting some drone around 2000-2200 rpms, any suggestions on how to silence it?
That’s really the drone range. I would drive in manual mode to control the rpm. Otherwise sound deadener places strategically can help reduce it. Drone has a lot to do with vibration in panels.
Nice bro miss that sound now ....i recently got a q60 400rs wish it had the same sound as 3.7
I’m sure the extra horsepower makes up for that though lol!
Thanks man!
High flow cats will make a huge difference!
Hopefully... I want a little more growl to it when I step on it but also somewhat quiet while cruising.. and also don’t want any inspection issues
Louis Feraca I know what you mean!
Might have to change your title to second best sounding q50... lmao jkjk
Louis Feraca haha we will see!
I have currently a sport muffler on my q50. I’m thinking about doing resonator delete but keeping my muffler. How would you think it would sound?
Alpha V personally that’s what I would be doing. I say go for it
Cbar65 the problem is that I can find people that posted videos on either a g37,370 or q50 sound with resonator delete and sport muffler
I know of just one that has resonator delete with just the stock muffler.
The resonator tones down the “metallic” sound. The rasp you might call it.
I have a 16 3.0T, any recommendation on exhaust sounds like this?
Try the same setup.
Got it man,I already have overheating problem with my ddtt before step into mods,I really should go vq.
Brandon Han you won’t have the power potential but it’s still a fun car!
@@SpeedCultureStudios Can you send me some pictures of the exhaust system setup,I'm a little confusing about where to put all there parts. my email nclogi@gmail.com, tks man.
found it in another video and ready to get them installed, have a nice weekend.
The link for Borla doesnt work anymore but i think i figured it out. Getting this done in 2 weeks !
What is the silancer in side
Hey man, I have a 2016 Q50S 3.0T. I don't know much about exhaust but have been watching your videos and your set ups there so lit !
I was wanting mines to sound similar to yours but a less loud. Can you give me any advice? Like I want that "chill aggressive roar" is that possible?
I have a video coming out this week that will explain!
Catback makes all the difference, but a tune doesn’t do anything for the sound. You will need a tune for test pipes tho yes
Speed Culture Studios no tests pipes then for me lol ,Got quoted 500 flat at a local shop using the exact parts you have. Just might have to pull the trigger.
Hey I did this setup and I was just curious, if you did it again, how would you eliminate drone? Different muffler or resonators?
I didn’t have any drone. You can try putting sound deadener in the trunk. Infiniti sound deadening is terrible. You can also drive in manual mode and keep the rpm out of the drone window.
I just got a G37s 2012, can you please specify what are the parts you installed to make it sound like that please? Sounds good !
All parts described and linked in this video: th-cam.com/video/VFG8e6eVTGU/w-d-xo.html
Thanks!!!! Is the sound loud inside? I wouldn’t like that 👍
Also would I get the same sound if I choose not to get the tips?

Hello, sounds AWSOME!! How do you think this set up would sound on the FX50s V8? I know this is an old thread and did not want to highjack another. Thank you
I think it would sound awesome with a V8!!! I’ve been waiting for someone to do it!
Is this set up with the remark axelback muffler delete ?
No this is a full custom catback

Thank you very much!!
Seems like you have a test pipes installed as well, do you suggest this set up without test pipes and do you think I it’ll produce a similar sound? Also what test pipes are you running? Q50 3.7 15’
Yes it has test pipes. In this video it was top speed resonated test pipes.
The setup sounds good with factory cats as well. Several people have done its
Ok thanks! Either way you’ll need a tune to get the check engine light off right?
@@jgon101 No. Only if you install test pipes.
Can I use this set up on my 2008 Infiniti g35 sedan with stock cats ?
Yes. It just won’t be loud with cats
Hey man I own a 2015 q50 and I already have the borla muffler on there with nothing else, which isn’t that loud. All I basically need is the two resonators but wouldn’t that limit the sound even more? Probably a dumb question but I’m a newbie on car mods
It would tone it down a bit, but to have it be louder high flow cats or test pipes would open it up
Speed Culture Studios ok I figured that. So you have any high flow cats that you recommend? I’d appreciate it
denno7112 I like Berk for HFCs
Speed Culture Studios ok I’ll look into that. I really appreciate it 💪🏾
Quick question, is your car a RWD or AWD model? Have heard maybe possible fitment issues with the AWD.
RWD. Fitment issues?
@@SpeedCultureStudios due to the AWD converter transfer case underneath
@@matthewpederson8796 ah the exhaust. Many have installed it just how it’s designed. A good shop can tuck it up tight. If you’re really low, you can install the parts in reverse order.
What about for tailights ? Is it tint? Or spray?
It’s VHT night shades spray. 4 coats wet sanded with 1500 then 6 coats of clear wet sanded with 2000 then polished and waxed.
Speed Culture Studios They look very well done
Rio Rompero thank you. I’ve done it a few times in the past. I wrapped them first, but knew I could spray them and get them much glossier.
Would this exhaust work on a 2015 AWD q40?
I'm sure it would.
When you shot this video did you have a test pipe installed? or just the custom cat back?
Yes. Test pipes and catback.
I have a 2014 q50 awd non sport just to be clear do I have to order 2 resonators and 1 muffler to get the sound?
Yes
hows the drone with the windows up?
Drone only between 1900-2200 rpm. And very minimal. I always drive in manual mode so am never in that rpm range anyway
@@SpeedCultureStudios good to hear, thanks for the reply!
Speed Culture Studios i appreciate that man. Will upload a video once they are on the car!
Aliu_Q60 A no problem! Can’t wait to hear it!
How easy is the install for these parts?
Unless you have a pipe bender, a shop would have to do it. They should be able to do it in less than an hour.

wirehot09 thats cool man. I’m really happy with the car and definitely love this exhaust system. Thanks for checking in!
So you spent under $400 For this amazing sound 😭 r u sure? I see ur links but r u sure their is nothing else?
wirehot09 well you have to pay the shop to install it for you of course. Some shops charge more than others. I purchased the Borla muffler from my shop so they installed everything else for $100.The only other thing I would suggest is a set of flanges so you can bolt to the test pipes. Most shops carry flanges but you never know.
Hey. I’m from Canada and having a lil difficulty finding the stuff on Amazon u mentioned for your exhaust setup. Like the resonators.
Speed Culture Studios
Thanks and I drive a 2013 g37x. Non sport with 157k
Great sound! This setup can work for a 2012 G37 journey??
I would imagine it could. Best idea would be to go to an exhaust shop and get the car on a lift to see what can fit. The borla muffler I got is 24” in total length so it s a tight fit. There are other options available but it just depends on what the shop is capable of!
Thanks for watching! Let me know how it goes!!

This is with the motor dyne shockwave?
No, it’s custom but a similar mid-muffler design like the shockwave.
It is a borla xs mid-muffler back to Flowmaster FX resonators. The muffler is a bit bigger than the one used with the shockwave.

Current:
Berk HFC > mid pipe > Borla Pro XS mid muffler > resonated pipes > Flowmaster FX resonators > tips.
