I just got mine a few months ago like 3 second owner w 135k I got 10 k miles on it took it from Seattle to La and back handled like a champ daily drive it and pulls pretty good. Any advice on keeping the tranny giod
As an Infiniti tech myself, I highly recommend changing your transmission fluid if your vehicle has less than like 150k miles. And changing it every 30k or so after that. It’ll help that tranny last longer and stay healthier. If you bring it somewhere ask for a drain and fill. With Nissan matic S. Or you can diy. It’s fairly simple. I always drop the pan and clean the small metal screen inside on my personal car. One fluid I don’t really recommend changing is the transfer case fluid if you are awd. We actually have seen a good chunk of cars that had their transfer case fluid changed, need transfer cases shortly after. Especially higher Milage ones. I believe it has something to do with the clutches breaking down and clogging things or getting stuck in bad places when draining. Only top it off. Too risky in my opinion! Had an older lady’s transfer case go out two weeks ago after she got her fluid changed unfortunately. 😢
Can I do a BG drain and fill on a machine making sure to use the matic S? 2012 Infiniti G37 Coupe RWD 114K miles. If so, how many quarts should I swap?

with antifreeze, you can unplug the cabin heater core hose at the return-to-engine hose preferably or use the air bleeder port which is also on the heater core hose if you have one - careful its just plastic and will be brittle with high mileage so maybe get a aftermarket metal one or a new original before trying to open it. youll also need a snug fitting philips screw driver. then get one of those antifreeze fill funnels which makes an extra high fill point that will push the old fluid out within a few minutes and you dont have to bleed air out of the system. takes 2 gallons to get most of the old stuff out. i used a different brand and color antifreeze so that helped me figure out when the old stuff was all cleared out but you can count to 2 gallons if you use the same color. i heard transmission flush machines at dealers use too high pressure and thats what breaks it. you can drain your transmission and fill it at the transmission cooler return hose but you'll have to figure out how to get the new fluid in that return hose which honestly im not sure will even let fluid flow into the transmission, it wont go back into the the direction of the pump, though. if that doesn't work then find a hose that will fit into the drain pan fill port which is like a 1cm wide opening that takes forever to fill. the evils of taking away the transmission dipstick tube - deterring DIYers so you go back to dealer and give them money. and saying its lifetime fluid lol so your trans breaks and you need a new one or a new car. transmission fluids also have a time limit as well as a mileage limit which i hear is 8 years. the original nissan fluid was 12 years old but very low mileage and it was quite brown/oxidated. the transmission now shifts better too. make sure to count how many liters came out and put that much back in. for accidentally filling 87 fuel, put the car in eco mode and even then drive slowly with no hard acceleration attempts to prevent engine damage until you use up the gas tank.

@SpeedCultureStudios I have a question when talking about the drain and fill for the transmission. What do you mean exactly because on my car I’ve been feeling a little hesitation on the transmission and it’s not shifting right and it’s time for me to change the transmission fluid, but I don’t know if I should fully drain out all the old fluid and put a new fluid or I don’t know what to do
i have a 2015 3.7 awd with 147k miles and the trans stopped working or i dont know what it moves slow and when i hit the gas the engine revs high but moves slow what do you suggest?
ok cause i took it to a trans shop and they said i have to rebuild the internals they want 5k i was going to change the transfer case oil and differential oil and trans fluid with filter u think that might help i never done it?
@@OscarGonzalez-ix7dj transfer case fluid won’t do anything for the trans issue. 5k rebuild is nonsense. You can find a used trans for $1000 and have it installed. Better idea is to swap it with a trans from a 2017+. It takes a few extra things, but you won’t have to worry so much about the valve body failing again
Always change the trans fluid on this car. I had to replace my valve body on my 15 q50 and I bet anything it had to do with low pressure or overheating transmission.
No sir. Seems to be no rhyme or reason to valve body failures in these. In fact, people have experienced failure after a fluid change. The recommendation is to not touch the trans fluid if the car is shifting normally.
@@SpeedCultureStudios what a shame they left us with this failure with no assistance. Luckily, I could replace this myself, but the majority of people are not so lucky and it's 4500 at least to have it fixed.

Every hundred thousand miles you should replace the spark plugs on the 3.7L VQ. Coolant services should performed every 60,000 miles. Transmission service should be performed every 50,000 miles.
Spark plugs are supposed to be done every 25k but 50k is probably fine. 100k is WAY too far without a plug change. Please don’t wait 100k to change plugs! I agree with coolant service at 60k. Trans should not be touched before 75k unless it’s shifting weird and even at that should only be a drain and fill, not a full flush service.

Both 3.0
I’d go for the 21
Less miles the better
I just bought a 2019 q50 3.0 runs great wanted to know if i should upgrade my airfilter once i change it just to be on the safe side are the different drive modes meant to be used like i wont mess it up eventually if i keep driving super fast on standard mode?
Hey Speedculturestudios!! I’m doing that scs catback soon. Could you link your front lip and spoiler? Also do you have to tune the car after getting the catback? I have ‘15 Q50
Just check out the spoiler and splitter videos. They are linked there. I’d have to go find them now. Or you can check out the link to my “favorite things” in the description. I believe I have them in there
@@SpeedCultureStudios and for the SCS catback, is it necessary to tune after installing it?
@@carlossandoval976 only if you get test pipes or high flow cats. If you keep stock cats then you won’t need a tune.
@@dominicgiancana93 hey, there are high flow cats on his SCS catback. Then will it be necessary. It’s been holding me back because it’s my daily and I don’t want to tune my daily and fuck it over
@@carlossandoval976 no sir. But the catback is designed for use with test pipes so you’d want to tune after test pipes
Hello there question for the day have 2017 infiniti 50 S AWD .Start up my car put in drive but once l hit reverse horn goes off past reverse it stops.Once l ready to shut off same vicea versa move the shifter up to reverse horn goes off past reverse horn stops ..
Now any fixes on this issue plz ..
Quick question, do you know if the hybrid engine will run as long as the 3.7? A 2014 hybrid popped up locally around me and just wondered if it would be as reliable as a 3.7 non hybrid
I’ve heard nothing but good feedback about the hybrid. The Nissan/Infiniti 3.5 is a great engine
@SpeedCultureStudios I have a question when talking about the drain and fill for the transmission. What do you mean exactly because on my car I’ve been feeling a little hesitation on the transmission and it’s not shifting right and it’s time for me to change the transmission fluid, but I don’t know if I should fully drain out all the old fluid and put a new fluid or I don’t know what to do
Shops will often do a flush which can lead to more problems with the Q50 so just simply draining the fluid and refilling is often thought best
@@SpeedCultureStudios ok thank you for the info i plan on doing it myself so just wanted to be sure
i have a 2015 3.7 awd with 147k miles and the trans stopped working or i dont know what it moves slow and when i hit the gas the engine revs high but moves slow what do you suggest?
Valve body is done.
ok cause i took it to a trans shop and they said i have to rebuild the internals they want 5k i was going to change the transfer case oil and differential oil and trans fluid with filter u think that might help i never done it?
@@OscarGonzalez-ix7dj transfer case fluid won’t do anything for the trans issue. 5k rebuild is nonsense. You can find a used trans for $1000 and have it installed. Better idea is to swap it with a trans from a 2017+. It takes a few extra things, but you won’t have to worry so much about the valve body failing again
I have a 2017 q50 3.0 & I been having it for 4 years it has 93,000 miles and the transmission is always slipping on 1 and 2nd gear 😭😭😭
How much do you pay for insurance if you don’t mind me asking
Under 100 a month
@@SpeedCultureStudios oh I thought it would be way more, and I’m 41

Thanks!
@@tarickk6132 yes it can be a very expensive fix!
Wait your Q is RWD and not AWD ? @speedculture
Yes
I have a 2015 Q50 with 66k and the tranny died this week. At dealership now. They said $3000. How can this happen when the car is like new?
The trans on the VQ seems to be hit or miss. It’s unfortunate they didn’t have a recall on this
Are you sure it wasn’t the valve body???? What were your problems ??
It was exact symptoms. Wouldn’t shift past 3rd gear.
@@robertmelio4262could be you’re valve body if you have high rpms but aren’t going past 20 or 30mph.
I own a 2018 at 120,000 have had no issue. Yeah i know i drive alot lol.
No point in having it if you don’t drive it!!
I was looking into buying a q50s or a q60s but someone told me to stay away from the V6 twin turbo engine or you will regret especially if it has over 100,000 Mi on it. it really that bad?
No
guys I’ve had this whining sound whenever I turn right on my car, what could that be? Infiniti q50 premium 3.0t
Could be the ac compressor
i just got a 2015 q50
You’ll enjoy it!
@@SpeedCultureStudios so far sometimes at stops, the car doesnt move for a second. But then jolts back even if i put a little pressure on the gas peddle.
@@No16873 seems strange
@@No16873I’ve ran into the same problem it feels like a hiccup. The RPMs rise and it takes the car about a second to actually go and jerks the whole car. I’ve talked to multiple ppl about it and all have said it’s just a touching thing and will get used to it overtime try n be a little more aggressive when pulling off I’ve noticed it happens less you don’t need to floor it but a strong press on the gas
@@EternalRider-rn4ob transmission is difficult to work with so i gave mine back
it’s sad what little young people maintain there g’s / q’s
Every hundred thousand miles you should replace the spark plugs on the 3.7L VQ. Coolant services should performed every 60,000 miles. Transmission service should be performed every 50,000 miles.
Spark plugs are supposed to be done every 25k but 50k is probably fine. 100k is WAY too far without a plug change. Please don’t wait 100k to change plugs! I agree with coolant service at 60k. Trans should not be touched before 75k unless it’s shifting weird and even at that should only be a drain and fill, not a full flush service.
great info, again. thnx. maybe u can help me? i need the DIFFERENTIAL BUSHING for my 2009 FX35 rwd suv. Can you say which AFTERMARKET bushing will be a fit for the vehicle? and do u know of any good mechanic in the orlando area? thnx.
Bro did I just see 14.4 mpg?
Very informative right nice job?
🤣🤣 @ 2:52 👊🏾👊🏾😈😈
3.7 barely even counts as q50 at this point in 2023. U have a g37
That doesn’t even make sense
you walk around to get to place bro dont you
g got 160
